00:01:37.200 estate since Jesus was a baby so over 31
00:01:41.439 years um always here in Atlanta and
00:01:44.680 about three years ago uh I started doing
00:01:48.479 short form video I had been doing video
00:01:51.799 uh posts from the Porsche was this
00:01:53.520 little series that I did when I would
00:01:55.320 get all worked up and I would do
00:01:56.719 Facebook live in my Cs and I kind of
00:02:00.240 transitioned from that spur of the
00:02:02.560 moment live video into uh curated short
00:02:06.439 form video and it kind of took off and
00:02:09.840 people really bit into it and originally
00:02:12.599 I was going to do like you know advice
00:02:15.560 for buyers and sellers and it's real
00:02:17.920 estate advice sugar and spice real
00:02:19.680 estate advice but someone asked me if
00:02:23.440 you were a new agent what would you do
00:02:26.319 and I and I said what I would do if I
00:02:28.480 was a new agent and so all of these
00:02:30.720 agents started following me and it's
00:02:32.239 really kind of created this cult
00:02:34.440 following I guess you could say uh and
00:02:36.920 they've named themselves the glender
00:02:38.519 raes they come and see me at events they
00:02:41.879 send me star stuff all the time um I
00:02:46.080 probably get in the I probably get like
00:02:48.239 in the mail physically I probably get
00:02:50.360 three or four items a week but in my DMs
00:02:53.599 I get hundreds of links to different
00:02:56.680 star stuff it's insane wow that's
00:03:00.239 amazing yeah because typically I wear
00:03:02.480 stars but I'm out of uniform so sorry
00:03:04.840 about
00:03:06.480 that um so when you you mentioned that
00:03:09.280 you started the short firm video when
00:03:10.760 you would get all worked up in your car
00:03:12.760 and do Facebook live what were you
00:03:15.120 getting worked up about just like the
00:03:16.319 trials and tribulations of the day
00:03:18.400 everything because this is I mean
00:03:20.360 everybody thinks that real estate is
00:03:22.040 like million dooll listing like you walk
00:03:24.400 into this $40 million Penthouse and like
00:03:27.400 oh I'll take it like I'll pay cash like
00:03:30.120 I'll move in tomorrow like everybody
00:03:32.280 thinks that that is real estate that is
00:03:34.120 not real estate like I am out there
00:03:37.280 hustling every day to number one get
00:03:39.959 people to buy houses get people to sell
00:03:43.040 their house and keep the deal together
00:03:46.439 and that's really what what people
00:03:49.239 didn't see so what I would talk about
00:03:51.360 and what I do talk about is really the
00:03:53.720 behind the scenes real estate real life
00:03:56.000 and real time and the inspection goes
00:03:59.159 bad the financing falls through the
00:04:01.879 buyer lies on his tax returns the buyer
00:04:04.519 buys a car you sell the wrong house by
00:04:07.920 accident kind of things like that and
00:04:10.120 people yeah it was that just happened
00:04:12.680 one time just for the record there's got
00:04:14.599 to be a story behind that but really it
00:04:16.759 wasn't the wrong house it was really the
00:04:18.560 right house he just didn't know it at
00:04:20.238 the time it's a good point yeah it was
00:04:22.520 meant to be exactly
00:04:25.600 100% so what did uh what did you do
00:04:28.000 before real estate do sit well you you
00:04:30.800 said you came out of the womb a real
00:04:32.360 estate agent do you know what my mom
00:04:34.520 loved real estate and I have been my mom
00:04:36.680 worked for a developer here in Atlanta
00:04:39.280 and so I grew up around real estate
00:04:42.080 forever um but I actually designed and
00:04:44.440 manufactured ladies clothing so I barely
00:04:47.479 got out of high school I didn't go to
00:04:49.280 college I didn't even take my SAT test
00:04:52.400 um and I lied for years about that I
00:04:54.759 made I don't know 1150 or some
00:04:57.479 ridiculous number that I pulled out of
00:04:59.000 the sky
00:05:00.240 um on my SAT I never even took it and so
00:05:04.360 um I I modeled here in Atlanta and I was
00:05:09.520 wearing an outfit that I had made in my
00:05:11.560 bedroom uh at the Atlanta apparel Mark
00:05:14.280 and one of the showroom owners saw it
00:05:16.120 and I started making those in my bedroom
00:05:19.120 selling them and uh at my first show I
00:05:22.639 so sold
00:05:24.400 $445,000 and then I started showing in
00:05:26.479 five major markets five times a year but
00:05:28.840 but tail is really tough and the people
00:05:32.880 are just brutal and I just I called my
00:05:35.479 mom one day and I said I just don't like
00:05:37.759 it like I don't it's not fun I don't I
00:05:40.120 don't like this and she goes punpkin you
00:05:42.240 need to go be a real estate agent and
00:05:45.080 here I am 30 years
00:05:47.639 later that's awesome I love that yeah
00:05:50.880 yeah it was great what I mean that you
00:05:55.280 it sounds like that pivot was uh easy
00:05:58.560 for you because you believe believed
00:05:59.800 that you could do it but I would imagine
00:06:01.759 that there's a lot behind that like
00:06:04.000 walking away from something that you
00:06:05.880 seem to have momentum doing and then
00:06:07.880 pivoting to go do something totally
00:06:09.360 unknown that you really have to build

00:07:07.280 ladies and back in the olden days

00:07:15.360 Department you know somebody's husband
00:07:18.000 worked for Bell South somebody's husband
00:07:20.360 worked for UPS somebody's husband worked
00:07:22.639 for Coke and you just they told their
00:07:24.479 friends and that's how you got it and
00:07:26.080 this one lady who was the head of the
00:07:29.039 this these three ladies they were going
00:07:30.680 to share me as an
00:07:32.240 assistant she had r l a te relocate on
00:07:39.960 her on her tag she saw did all the
00:07:42.240 relocation she was the relocation
00:07:44.240 Department of Atlanta so I go and I sit
00:07:46.120 down I'm talking and she goes uh you can
00:07:49.919 stop I'm Excuse me she goes yeah you're
00:07:53.120 way too bubbly we're never going to hire
00:07:56.840 you ouch and I'm I'm like
00:08:00.000 so I leave and I
00:08:02.000 cry yeah and so the next the the next
00:08:05.800 day I have another appointment lined up
00:08:07.759 and I go I sit down with these two
00:08:09.240 ladies and again they're going to share
00:08:10.919 me two individual agents are going to
00:08:12.199 share me and this is 1992 where
00:08:15.840 assistance was really like you didn't
00:08:17.520 really have an assistant and so I get
00:08:20.560 along with them they love me it's great
00:08:23.280 I know that I got it they call me hey

00:09:01.120 house and so I had been asking everybody
00:09:04.279 that I knew did they want to buy a house
00:09:05.519 or sell a house and five people had
00:09:08.120 already told me they would sell their
00:09:09.440 house with me wow and I'm like but I
00:09:13.399 don't I don't have like a real estate
00:09:15.360 home I can't do anything without a
00:09:17.040 brokerage so there was this big Taj
00:09:20.040 Mahal brokerage I mean it was gigantic
00:09:23.160 it's so big that now it is the Church of
00:09:25.800 Scientology they sold their building it
00:09:28.040 was that big it was G iic so and they'
00:09:31.040 got like 90 agents in this office I go
00:09:33.200 in I talk to the broker and I say I've
00:09:36.079 got these five people that want to list
00:09:37.399 their house with me but I don't have
00:09:38.360 anywhere to put my license and she goes
00:09:40.120 you have five listings and I'm like yeah
00:09:41.760 but I don't know what to do because
00:09:42.800 nobody will hire me as an assistant she
00:09:44.399 goes I'll hire you as an agent and that
00:09:46.880 was on Friday so on Monday I got there
00:09:48.680 at nine o'clock and it was me and the
00:09:51.279 secretary and I'm like looking around
00:09:53.399 the bullpen I'm like Carol where is
00:09:54.839 everybody she goes Glenda it's real
00:09:56.480 estate you don't have to be here I
00:09:59.240 didn't even know you didn't have to be
00:10:00.399 there at 9:00 she was they'll they'll
00:10:02.839 come in around 11: blah blah blah and I
00:10:05.279 was like are you like like I don't have
00:10:07.240 to be here and like that day I stayed
00:10:09.880 until five o'clock and I'm like and she
00:10:12.680 was packing up her stuff and I was

00:10:49.600 to meet somebody somewhere I was like oh

00:10:53.600 you make me 25 copies of this absolutely
00:10:56.519 I'd make 26 copies I'd give her 25 I'd
00:10:58.800 keep one everything that girl did I
00:11:01.639 copied it every single thing and I
00:11:04.399 listened to how she talked to people the
00:11:06.880 confidence that she had I was sitting
00:11:08.440 there reading my book and it said call
00:11:11.399 for sale by owners call expired and and
00:11:14.760 that's what I did it said develop a farm
00:11:17.360 so I found a fancy neighborhood here I
00:11:19.959 am in some apartment I take my little
00:11:21.880 baby my baby Victoria I put her in the
00:11:24.560 stroller I park at the clubhouse and I
00:11:26.959 stroll my baby through that neighborhood
00:11:29.120 Hood every night between 5 and 7 I
00:11:31.680 strolled my baby I'd wave at the
00:11:33.920 neighbors I took pictures of the houses
00:11:35.920 I pulled the tax records I had a farm
00:11:38.480 nobody ever asked me did I live there on
00:11:41.040 all of the listing appointments I ever
00:11:42.519 went on in that neighborhood nobody ever
00:11:44.279 asked me which house do you live in they
00:11:46.279 just assumed I was the neighborhood real
00:11:48.079 estate agent and I started September the
00:11:50.600 4th of 1992 and by December I was agent
00:11:53.760 of the month and in 1992 in that
00:11:56.399 neighborhood I listed a $950,000
00:11:59.120 house on Christmas Eve wow wow that's
00:12:02.839 crazy it was it was insane and I sold
00:12:06.560 that house in
00:12:08.079 March and literally I I read that book I
00:12:12.519 did everything that book said I took my
00:12:15.320 picture in front of that house I put
00:12:17.399 that house on a
00:12:18.639 postcard I had broke her open at that
00:12:21.399 house and everybody thought oh she's a
00:12:23.680 fancy real estate agent I'd go to
00:12:25.240 Caravan all these big expensive houses
00:12:28.279 and no ever asked me how long have you
00:12:30.320 been selling no one ever asked me
00:12:35.440 anything I mean the what you just
00:12:37.560 described the uncomfortability of
00:12:39.120 starting something new and you like your
00:12:41.440 description of walking into that office
00:12:42.880 and literally not understanding what
00:12:45.199 what time you're supposed to be there

00:16:35.800 provider I want to be in relationship

00:16:47.720 because he's anybody can change the
00:16:50.600 toilet that's why it's important to me

00:16:55.720 relationship and think about it

00:17:03.759 single largest investment the place that
00:17:06.760 they're going to spend more time than

00:17:24.959 backdrop because in every picture it was

00:17:33.799 door it was in the backyard around the
00:17:36.039 pool and so really they created the
00:17:39.440 memories and I just provided the
00:17:41.080 backdrop to the memories of their
00:17:43.960 life and so the pictures and the picture
00:17:47.200 frames nobody prints pictures anymore
00:17:50.080 and so you posted something on your
00:17:52.160 Facebook your Instagram we grabbed that
00:17:55.559 we printed it put it in a frame and it's
00:17:58.360 it's a gorgeous frame um and and have it
00:18:01.400 hand delivered to your house and it's
00:18:03.039 all wrapped in in in beautiful blue
00:18:06.640 paper beautiful chiffon ribbon and
00:18:09.679 remember it's not a gift if it has your
00:18:12.200 name on it it's marketing so we don't
00:18:15.360 put our name on it or anything but like
00:18:18.039 I have one client Jay and Bobby and I
00:18:20.919 gave them a beautiful bakara picture
00:18:23.679 frame of their wedding and it is on
00:18:28.520 their mantle they look at it every
00:18:30.320 single day do you think that they're
00:18:32.400 ever going to buy or sell without me
00:18:35.520 absolutely

00:19:19.400 different level of trust and loyalty and
00:19:21.960 so for me that's what we really that's

00:19:25.919 business yeah you're so focused on
00:19:28.320 making people feel a certain way because
00:19:30.880 that is why someone wants to be in a
00:19:33.280 relationship or a friendship or whatever
00:19:35.200 it is and I think that you do that same
00:19:38.600 thing now through your short firm video
00:19:40.400 content you make people feel a certain
00:19:42.000 way and they relate to you when they're
00:19:43.480 consuming your content but I'm very
00:19:45.559 curious about the other side of the
00:19:47.600 content creation too and I'm probably
00:19:49.679 projecting a little bit around my own
00:19:51.440 confidence to do stuff like that but
00:19:53.320 there has to have been some I'm curious
00:19:56.159 really what I'm getting at is where
00:19:58.720 where did the confidence that you you
00:20:00.520 have such a calm confidence in like who
00:20:02.520 you are and what you're going to say and
00:20:04.000 the message you're trying to portray and
00:20:05.360 the way you're trying to make people
00:20:06.360 feel and that comes across in your
00:20:07.919 videos but I cannot imagine that you
00:20:11.039 just got that immediately like what are
00:20:13.640 you telling yourself when you're
