Got loads of Google reviews and still not in the top 3?

You're not alone.

We see this all the time with trades businesses — great reviews, good reputation, doing everything right — but Google still won't put them at the top of the map.

The truth is, reviews are just one piece of the puzzle.

There are 3 other things that most businesses completely overlook — and they're the exact reason your competitors are sitting above you right now.

We recently worked with a plumber who had 120 five-star reviews and still couldn't crack the top 3.

Once we fixed these 3 things, that changed.

We recently worked with a local plumber. He had over 125-star Google reviews and responded to every review he got. He had more than his competitors, but Google wouldn't put him in the top three on the Map Pack. He'd watched tutorials online and followed everything to optimize the listing, and it still wouldn't rank higher. So despite following what the gurus online were saying, there were still three things holding this listing back. And in this video, I'm going to show you exactly what we did that got him back in the top three and more importantly, kept him there. Now over the last 10 years, we've helped rank hundreds of Google Business profiles and taken them from looking like this to this. So here's the first thing you need to do. And I can't stress this enough. Stop asking your customers to just leave a review. That is actually hurting your profile. Because what most people end up leaving is something like great service, would recommend, very good job. And that's weak. What you want instead is detailed reviews. You want the customer to explain what actually happened on the job. So for example, if you Google Loft Conversion London and look at the top profiles, then sort by Newis, you'll notice something straight away. The best reviews mention the person who did the job's name, the work that was carried out, the full process. They'll say things like who handled it, what changes were made, how smooth it was. They even mention the company name multiple times, and that is exactly what you want. Because it tells Google that this is a real job done by real people. Now another big one is to get them to upload photos. Pictures of the job are a massive ranking signal. It proves the work actually happened. If you look at top profiles, they're consistently getting reviews like this. Detailed with context and often with images. So instead of chasing loads of basic reviews, focus on getting high quality ones. Ask your customers to mention the engineer or tradesperson, describe what happened on the job, say what service was done, and add photos if possible. Because 20 detailed reviews like that are way more powerful than 100 generic ones. Now look, I'm sitting here saying this, but I know how difficult it is to actually get reviews from customers. People say they'll do it and then they forget. So what we've done is we've built a simple review system. Basically, it's a page we create for you that you can bookmark on your phone, iPad, or other device. Then as soon as you finish a job, you just say, Can I quickly send you a link to leave us a review? Then you enter the customer's first name, last name, mobile number, and email, and you hit submit. And what happens next is instant. They receive a direct link to your Google Business profile where they can leave a review. Now, ideally, you get them to do it there and then. That's always the best option. You just guide them through it on the spot. If they don't have the time, the system will take over. It will automatically follow up with them over the next four weeks, send in reminders until they leave the review. And that's how you consistently get more better reviews. Now, the next thing most businesses get wrong is their services. Most profiles only have about three or four services listed on their Google Business profile when they should have 20 to 30. So you're missing out on a huge opportunity if you're hitting those lower numbers. But here is how you fix it. You need to use a tool called GMB Everywhere. So you install it, search for your service like Roofers London, and then click on local scan. Now, what this will do is pull in all the data from top ranking businesses. First, it shows you the primary category and all the subcategories they're using. Then you go over to the services tab, and this is where it gets interesting. You'll see a full list of services: things like gutter repairs, roof ventilation, gutter cleaning, roof leaks, loads of different variations. Now you can copy all of these services, then go to ChatGPT and put in this prompt. I'm a roofer in London. Here is the data from GB everywhere for service keywords. Can you pick out the best ones to use for my Google Business Profile? Then paste all of those keywords in. And what ChatGPT will do is filter everything down for you because you don't want everything, you want the high intent services. So we'll pull out the best ones like roof leak repair, roof restoration, emergency roofing, and other high converting services. Now you just take those, go back to your Google Business profile and start adding them into your services section. If you've got subcategories, you can organize them there too. And instead of having just three or four services, you now have 20, 30, even more perhaps. And you can really go deep with this. This massively increases your visibility because now you're showing up for way more service-related searches. And that's one of the easiest wins most businesses are missing. The next thing you want to look at is your competitors opening hours. Go and check what hours your competitors are showing. If they're listed for longer hours than you, then you should test it band in yours. For example, if you search for something like Rufus London, you'll notice something straight away. The businesses in the top three are open 24 hours. And this is common in a lot of local service industries. If the top listings are all showing up as open 24-7 and you're not, that could be holding you back. So what you want to do is match that. If it makes sense for your business, test setting yours to 24 hours as well. Now you might be thinking, but my phone lines aren't open all day. That's fine because this is where a chatbot comes in. You can install the chatbot like this one we built for our client on your website. It talks to customers when you're not available, so that means it can answer questions, collect details, and even book the inquiry into your system. So even when your phone is off, your business is still running. And now you can extend your opening hours to 24 hours on your Google Business Profile. We've seen firsthand that businesses that do this get more inquiries and far greater visibility. And that is how you ensure your Google Business Profile shines out from the rest and actually brings in leads. Thank you for watching until the end. I hope you got a lot out of the video.
