We have with us Kate Petrova, who is an astrologer and astro cartographer, and she specializes in business astrology. She's also a digital nomad, traveling the world and enjoying life. She's lived in nine countries and she's currently based in Barcelona. Hi, kate, thanks so much for joining us.

So I was just saying to Kate, this is perfect timing for us to be talking about astro cartography, because I've literally spent the last week being like where the hell shall we live? Because LA is on fire and I don't know what the future holds, even though I absolutely love living there. And, you know, thought I was in my settling down phase of life, I thought I was retiring as a digital nomad and I was just going to, you know, be a homebody and lean into my tourist North node and, you know, build a beautiful home, pop out some babies and be focused on local community. But here I am recording this in Montreal.

I just came back from Toronto and I'm back. I'm back into picking up my laptop, booking a flight and just whizzing around the world and I'm not complaining. I'm not complaining Like I do love to travel, obviously, you know I love and I'm so grateful that I have so many amazing friends and family all across the world who will welcome me in with my suitcase when I want to come and, um, yeah, escape the mayhem in the US. So, kate, tell us how did you get into astrology and astro cartography?

and, yeah, living the digital nomad life as an entrepreneur yeah, and actually can I say first of all, I'm really sorry that you had to move and I can so relate to that. I can so relate because I'm also in a phase where I'm so ready to settle. And yet you know as much as I love Barcelona and now that I do astrocotography, I mean, I've been looking at my map for the past year or two and the reality is it is not the best place for me and I really tried to resist it and be like, no, but I love it so much and I have my life here. But then every time I come back it just doesn't feel good, it just doesn't, and it's like you can resist life or you can just flow with it. So if the universe tells you, no, girl, you gotta move, you gotta move right, and I have um sagittarius in my fourth house.

So it you know, and I my numerology. My life path number is five, which is constant change. So I realize I'm you know, I might as well get used to it yeah, yeah, me too.

Oh, really, you might be burgerizing, right, yeah, oh, how funny, me too. So I just have this fourth house.

So I'm curious what is it about your astro cartography that's not beneficial in Barcelona.

Speaker 2: 5:24

Yeah, oh my God. So actually it is about relocated chart and this is something that usually when people get into astro cartography. You can go on astrocom and this is a free software so you can start looking at it yourself. There are main astrophotography lines, so this is already a lot of information so you can look where your lines are. So, generally speaking, venus and Jupiter are the most beneficial lines.

Saturn, neptune, mars might be challenging, but I am going to say it is more complicated than that, because it really depends on your chart, on your specific like. What is it that your chart shows? So it is going to be different for everybody, but this is a good start. And then, on top of that, there are many other things. So there are latitude crossings which Astrocom is not showing, and then also, what is very important, is relocated chart. So you have your natal chart, which is fixed, which never changes. However, when you move to a different place, your chart shifts. So your planets, they are gonna have the same placements, but your houses are going to change and your ascendant is going to change, so your rising sign is going to change, which is which is massive, because your rising sign is literally how you see the world. So it's the lens through which you see the world and it's also how people see you. So for me in Barcelona, actually like the good thing, I'm really close to my Mars MC line, which is again some people say like Mars is challenging, but in my specific case it's actually. I have a great Mars, I have great aspects, so I love my Mars and especially Mars MC is great for business because I am so driven, I'm so ambitious, I'm obsessed about my business. So this is what Mars MC would do so like, if you really want to go for it, it's actually good to be next to it. But then in my relocated chart I have a big stellium in Capricorn, so I have five planets, including Saturn and Neptune, which are some of the most challenging planets.

And when I moved to Barcelona it moves to my sixth house, which is the house of health day-to-day work routines, and it's been really challenging. I mean, I've had so many health challenges, like my energy levels instantly go down when I'm in Barcelona, and it's like everything day to day, like the mundane tasks. There's always something coming up and I have to deal with it. And so it's actually much harder to focus on my vision and on my life because I just have to deal with, you know, little things, which is okay, but I've been living here in seven years and like it accumulated a lot. And I've just come back from India where I've been for three months and it's been so much lighter, you know, like there've been other challenges, but this has been so much lighter. And now I'm back and I'm like, oh my God, I think I have to move.

Yeah, it's time, yeah, that's so interesting and also, just you know, considering that there are some aspects which are supportive and there are some aspects which are not supportive, which I'm sure goes for a lot of places Like it was making me reflect on. Like Montreal is close to my Venus line. It's where I met my husband, but I also had some really intense health issues that began when I was here. So I'm curious about that to like look into that now. So what are you looking for in your astro cartography when you're considering where shall I move next?

Yeah.

So first of all, I opened the map and I have this you know big view at the map, and then, when clients come to me, I always ask what are your priorities at the moment? What is it that you focus on in your life? Because, of course, we want everything at the same time. However, it doesn't really work this way in life, Even when someone wants success. Success can represent money, success can represent visibility and big audience. Success can represent, you know, many different things. So even when we talk about Venus and Jupiter, they are both benefits, they are both good planets. Yet Venus is more about money, is more about creativity and artistry, while Jupiter is literally like abundance and expansion. So they have different tones and so it really depends on if I want to focus more on relationships, if I want to focus more on business, if I want to focus more on money. I would say it is happened sometimes that a place might have kind of like everything, but it's rare and it's also we rarely focus on everything at the same time, and when we try, usually it doesn't work. Anyone who did you know New Year's resolutions know that. So, first of all, it's understanding what is it that you want right now, what is it that you want to focus on? What are your priorities? And then I look at the map. So we have 10 different planets and four different angles. So each angle will represent either you or your relationships or your business career. So, like your, the most visible point, and then also your home and your roots, and then we have each planet. So each planet line, each planetary line, will be repeated four times because it will be with these angles. So, let's say, venus, if it's Venus ascendant, it's how you feel. So when you are on your Venus ascendant line, you're feeling more beautiful, you're feeling more magnetic, you're feeling just, you know, more sensual. It's really nice. When it's Venus descendant, this is the classic marriage, honeymoon line, because it is about relationships. When it's Venus, as I see, it means that you're more focused on your whole and you want to decorate your home and you just feel really rooted. And when it's Venus MC, this is the money line, because this is about your career. So you see, even the same planet, depending on angle, it will show different facets of the same energy.

So this is where I am looking at. Okay, what is it that I want? I'm finding the planetary line, I'm finding the angle. So this is the vertical line. Then we have horizontal lines. They're called parent lines. You cannot see them, unfortunately, on free software. So this is where I come with professional software, and so then I look at the parent lines and for vertical lines, many stochastic cartography lines. They have huge area of influence. It's about 600 miles. So you will feel this energy for a very, very big distance. But when it comes to these latitude crossings they have very small area of influence, only about 70 miles. So you can see that even when you're in the same spot, but you can move 30 miles north or south and it will dramatically change how you feel. So this is where it becomes more interesting, because not everybody is ready to move to the other side of the world, but they can move 30 miles north or south and it will change the picture already.

So this is the second step. And then also there are other lines. So there are local space lines, there are aspects. So for me it's kind of like putting a puzzle together. Right, we start with a big picture. What do you want? Looking at a whole map and then zoom it in, looking at other lines and then zoom it in even more, looking at other lines. So usually people come to me already with a list of places they're considering, and so we'll check all of the places and find the most beneficial. And then I always love to come with a surprise place that maybe people don't consider. But when I see that something is amazing and I see incredible lines and I'm like, oh my god, you have to go there, maybe not to move, but maybe to travel. Or even this, um, distance activation, so even when you connect with people from those area, you can activate this energy.

Oh, my, my God, that's so cool. Yeah, I love, because obviously I'm sure a lot of people who are listening on just like planning on randomly moving somewhere else in the world. So I love this idea that you know thinking of other ways that you can connect to those places through people, connections, networking or like trips, you know, even like choosing to go on certain retreats to certain places. I think this is such a cool idea and I'm curious I know we kind of like skipped straight without really like diving into your story, so I'm like curious where in your um, you know, journey of entrepreneurship did you discover astro cartography and how has that influenced some of the moves that you've made, because I know you've moved many times yeah, yeah, so I have discovered it a couple of years ago, so it's about two years.

I mean. I've been doing astrology longer, but this is when I started specializing in astro cartography. So first of all, I looked at all of the previous places where I've been, where I traveled, where I lived, and I and I was like, oh my God, like my life. I felt like it was the last missing piece, because it felt like, oh my God, my life finally makes sense. Now I understand why I felt the way I felt in those places, why certain things happen in certain places. I was like, oh my God. And I recently had a client who was also like just traveled. After our session she was like I really felt it, I need to take it seriously because it really works. And I'm like, oh my God, yes. And so after this I mean right now this is another reason why it's hard for me to settle, because I'm just so curious to keep traveling on my different lines and just to see how it affects me, how I feel, because it's one thing to know it in theory and then it's another thing to go and experience it for yourself, so like there's a huge part of me that is extremely curious. So since then I've been traveling to different places, to different lines, and I mean one thing how it affected me probably the most because there's also like this fixed map and then there are also transits. So just the same way as we have transit in planets in our NATO chart, we have transits going through our map. It's the same thing.

So, as an entrepreneur like I really love Jupiter transit because when Jupiter, especially Jupiter MC, is transiting over the area where you live, this means huge expansion. So when it was transiting over Barcelona last year no two, like one year and a half ago this was literally what I experienced the biggest expansion in my business. So I just had huge influx of clients, I increased my prices, but it really felt like such a huge level up of my entire business. It was like boom, you know, expansion. And when I felt it, I'm almost now kind of like addicted to this energy and you can literally follow your Jupiter transit because you can keep moving as it's moving. And I mean, of course it's not always possible, but I am already planning a trip in September to go to my Jupiter transit and then maybe to go to it at least once a year just to keep experiencing this expansion. And I have also other examples from my clients who receive incredible opportunities when they are at a place where Jupiter is transiting, especially if it's your Jupiter return or it makes an aspect to your Jupiter. So this is one example how it affected me hugely, absolutely. And then what would be some other examples?

I mean right now, like this past year, I've been going through my own immigration journey, so I was not able to travel as much as I wanted to, so I've been mainly going in Europe. So it hasn't been that much of a difference, but there was still a huge difference, you know. So, like I would go to my latitude process with the sun and I would get more visible when I'm there, for example, or even Saturn. So, like, many people are afraid of the Saturn lines, but actually Saturn brings discipline and structure. So when I know that, oh my God, I need to get shit done and I just need to do a lot of work, I would go to Saturn line or Saturnitudes crossing and yes, maybe it's more challenging, but also it forces me to get work done.

So this is another thing that I've played with and now that, yeah, like my, my, this immigration story is over. I can travel more. I have more freedom. So, like this year, I'm planning already so many trips and next year to go further to like different lines and also, as I said, my um, uh, relocated chart shifts. So this is actually one of my favorite things to play with, because when you're rising changes, it literally changes how you view the world. So I've just just been in India, for example, where I became liberal rising and I was obsessed about relationships, which I'm not. I was just constantly like I wanted to be around other people. So this is something you can play with, like do you want to focus more on relationships? Do you want to be more focused? Like my next trip is going to be where I'm going to be Scorpio, rising, because I really want to focus on my work. So I'm so excited, I'm so looking forward.

Um, yeah, okay, I'm obsessed with this idea of following your transit around the world. It's fully kicking my travel bug back into high gear again. I'm always like who am I kidding? Like I don want. I just don't want to travel as much anymore. I'm like stop lying to yourself, sarah. Oh, my God, I love that. Okay, so tell us more.

Speaker 1: 20:22

So you've told us that your Jupiter transit can bring expansion and abundance, that your sun lines can bring more visibility. Saturn can bring more structure and discipline. That's something that I found. La is close to my Saturn line and I've been like so focused on creating structure and systems in my business, which is historically, something I've really struggled with and it has been challenging for me, but I've just like brought in all the support and I'm doing it and I'm like I know this is gonna set me up for like whole other levels of success and stability, so I'm actually loving it and it feels really, really good. Um, also, we're trying for a baby at the moment and Saturn rules Capricorn, which is my fifth house, so I'm like, oh, it's actually a good place for us right now. So tell us, like, what else can we look out for that will be supportive for business and making money?

Speaker 2: 21:20

Yeah, so Venus rules money. So, especially if it's Venus MC, it's about money, it's about your career. So this is another transit that is super, super nice. I mean, I'm also going to say that like the correct way to look at it. It's not just the lines that are passing through an area, it's also these lines are going to apply to your native lines, right? So it's like you already have lines in place and then so, like Jupiter over Jupiter, for example, is gonna bring huge expansion, and then Venus, depending on what it applies to. So if it's Venus over Jupiter, oh my God, so much. Yeah, like luck and money and, depending on the line, can also be love. But then if it's Venus applying to your Pluto, for example, that can bring the element of obsession and that can bring jealousy, that can bring obsession about your relationships. So it's not just the line, it's also like what it applies to in your natal chart. But, generally speaking, venus will bring some really nice stuff.

Mars Mars is about drive, ambition. It's also about aggression and frustration. So every energy, as you probably know, every planet. It has high expression, low expression, and you can always lean towards one or another. Uh, but usually when, like when mars comes again, depending on which angle. So if it's descendant, it's about relationships I see it again and again there will be, you know, some difficult situations with relationships. I just had a client who had so many fights with her roommates and she was like what's going on? We just cannot agree on anything. There are fights and everything. And I see Mars descendant passing, and that's it. But it's a great opportunity for you also to work on your issues, for them, to see how you relate with that.

Speaker 2: 23:19

And then what is probably like very relatable to entrepreneurs is Mercury transits. Mercury is amazing. It's about communication, it's about connections, it's about media, it's about speaking, writing. So whenever there's Mercury transit, it brings up this. But then again, if it's passing over Mars, for example, this can be too much, because both of them are such fast energies. So it can bring nervousness, it can bring anxiety, it can bring problems with sleep, but at the same time it will bring so much inspiration and ideas.

So it's kind of this time when you're just nonstop creating and putting things out there and you know so it's like this is when being aware of these things help. Because when this happens and you're like, oh my God, I have so many ideas, but also I cannot sleep. What's going on? But when you know that it's coming, you're like, okay, I just need to take more care of my sleep and, you know, meditate more, do more practices so that I keep myself grounded and I don't make myself wrong for this, because I know that it's about the transit and this is what's happening. So, yeah, I mean there are also the last one.

Speaker 2: 24:33

I mean I can talk about it forever, but the last one I'll mention here, which is very related to digital nomads, it's Uranus transits, especially Uranus IC, because Uranus is about surprises, it's about something exciting, it's about change and surprise and shock, and IC it's about roots and whole. So very often and I see it again, like again and again, when a Uranus IC transit is coming to an area, this is when people start feeling the travel bug and they feel uprooted and they feel like, oh my God, maybe I should move, maybe like I don't feel settled anymore. So this is, and if you leave close to Uranus IC line, this means that it's just your destiny, like you, you, you always going, gonna feel a little bit uprooted, a little bit like you wanna. Maybe it's your base, but you travel all the time and then when it's a transit that's coming over your area, this is very often when people move, or they think about moving or they just feel restless. So, uh, yeah, that's another one.

I I see often and I love what you said about how you can work with a challenging placement or a challenging transit, and that's just my favorite thing about astrology is that it brings so much self-awareness and it brings so much self-compassion around the things that we can change and also how to just better support ourselves with the things that we can't change.

Right, because I'm sure there's a ton of people who you know aren't in a position where they can just uproot their life and move or they don't want to do that. But obviously, having this awareness of specific transits that obviously aren't permanent, but also knowing like understanding, about the qualities of their, where they are and you know what's at play in terms of their astro, astro cartography, you can kind of develop strategies and lean into kind of like your saturn placement, right. It's like you know you're going to be getting lessons or you'll know you're going to be challenged in certain ways. So that's an opportunity for so much growth and to build skill and to build support around those things so that you can deal with those challenges and they can become less challenging. So, yeah, I love that.

Absolutely, absolutely. And this is, yeah, like what I because I combine my sessions with coaching, so we very often go through like what the person is going through and then how they can best use this energy because, as I said, every energy has two sides in it. So let's take Neptune, for example it can lead to addiction and withdrawal and isolation, but it's also the most spiritual one and so like I just saw it yesterday in a client session, so like and she was struggling with feeling lost, with brain fog, and I'm like, yeah, but at the same time, it makes you so much more intuitive and you can channel things. And she's like, yeah, absolutely. So I'm like, use that in that way Instead of going into addiction, instead of going to withdrawal. How can you use that energy for the benefit of yourself and others? Because when you lean into that, there's going to be less energy for that. So it's, yeah, like, being aware, understanding this energy, we can use it for a benefit instead of letting it, you know, destroy our lives.

Right, it's having that awareness of what is the highest expression of that placement and what is the shadow expression and like where are you on that spectrum and what does it look like?

And what makes it easier for you to lean into the higher octaves of that, that particular energy. Okay, well, I could talk to this. I could talk to you about this for hours. I'm obsessed.
