And now a story. Brady was doing a great job in the school's talent show. Brady's talent was singing and dancing. Look at me, look at me, can't you see? I'm dancing and singing so well. He danced across the stage and sang his heart out, and this was a song that he wrote. Everyone loved it. When his performance was over, the audience of parents and family clapped and cheered loudly for him. The three judges also clapped politely. At the end of the show, the judges would decide the talent show winner, and the winner would get a big trophy. Brady bowed and then walked off stage, where the teachers and his fellow performers congratulated him. Brady had worked so hard that he was sweating a lot, and some of his sweat had dripped onto the stage, and that made it all wet. While the announcer came on stage and announced the next act, a student named Marvin came out with a towel and wiped the stage clean so no one would slip and get hurt. Marvin was a member of the backstage crew who was helping out the performers and making sure things ran smoothly. Great job, Brady, said the announcer. Now please welcome to the stage our next performer, Tommy, who will be playing his violin. The audience clapped for Tommy, who was very shy. Tommy came out to the stage nervously and held up his violin. Right when Tommy started the play, one of his violin strings broke. Tommy stood frozen and scared, not knowing what to do. He was nervous and embarrassed. Before his tears could come, though, Marvin came out onto the stage with Tommy's violin case. Tommy, do you have a new string you can put on your violin? Marvin whispered to Tommy. Tommy nodded his head and took his violin case for Marvin. Marvin cleared his throat. Tommy is going to show you how he changes strings on his violin. He said to the crowd. The crowd clapped in support of Tommy. Tommy smiled nervously and showed the crowd how he changed strings. Then he tuned the new string before playing his song with joy and confidence. After Tommy's song was over, he left the stage to cheering and clapping. He forgot his violin case and Marvin came out to clean up after Tommy. Throughout the rest of the show, Marvin continued to help the performers in various ways. He set up microphones, cleaned up after them, and encouraged them and cheered them on. At one point, a student named Tori was supposed to sing a song for her performance, but she got nervous, and when the music started, she didn't know the words. Thinking fast, Marvin quickly pulled up the lyrics on a phone and gave it to Tori. The lyrics are the words to a song. The crowd cheered for Tori as she started singing. At the end of the show, the judges took the stage along with the performers who were lined up next to them. It's time to announce the talent show winner, said one of the judges. We saw so many great performances. You each did such a good job, and we are so proud of you. It's not easy performing in front of so many people. However, we could only pick one winner, and there is one person tonight whose talent stood out the most. The talent show winner is Marvin. Marvin was standing off to the side of the stage and didn't understand why the judges had said his name. A teacher took Marvin's hand and led him onto the stage. The student performers all came together and asked us to award Marvin the trophy, and we agree that he deserves it. Marvin has been performing his talent all night. He has been helping everyone perform their best, even when he wasn't asked to. His selfless work allowed his classmates to shine in the spotlight. He helped make tonight possible. We are at our best when we are serving others instead of ourselves. And Marvin was the best tonight. Everyone give it up for Marvin! Marvin smiled as he received his trophy, still in shock. The crowd and his fellow students clapped and cheered for him for a long time. This was the first time anyone had ever clapped and cheered just for him. And the first time he felt like he actually had a special talent that he could share with the world.
