New Year's Two Week Check In

Shannon Danielle Episode 7

As the new year unfolds, like many, I found myself steering through a myriad of unexpected challenges, reminding me that sometimes, life demands a pause in our carefully laid plans. This episode is a heart-to-heart reflection on these early days of the year, which, for me, included the harsh reality of sickness and the devastating loss of a furry companion. It's a tale not of defeat, but of resilience and the importance of listening—to our bodies, to our needs, and to the subtle offerings of comfort that each day holds.

Navigating through this period, I've discovered joy in the tiniest of blessings and the philosophy of embracing each morning with anticipation for what the universe might unveil. I talk about the importance of self-care, and how returning to my yoga practice with Adrienne on YouTube serves as a testament to my commitment to well-being. This episode is an invitation to anyone who's had a rocky start to the year; it's a gentle reminder that we're not alone, and that with each sunrise comes the chance for renewal and the opportunity to pursue our paths to happiness. Join me as I share these personal moments, insights, and the steadfast hope that guides me forward.

Speaker 1:

I just wanted to drop in and do like a two week into the new year check-in because when I launched the podcast a couple of weeks ago, one of my first episodes that I did was talking about how do you wanna feel this year, and I have to say that I've started the year off feeling kinda crappy. I had started with the intention of doing a 30 day yoga program. I always do yoga with Adrienne on YouTube she's amazing and I had consistently been doing it for I don't know, I did it like 10 months in a row. It wasn't even this last year, it was the year before. I don't know where time goes, but and Adrienne does a new program every year, and so I decided that I wanted to do it with her live. So that was starting on January 2nd. So I started that and I think I only made it two or three days in and I got sick and I was not feeling well for a bit I'm actually still recovering. It was like the Sinacy cough yuck that's going around. And then my cat got sick and I ended up having to have him put down. He had a tumor that grew from the size of a pea to about two inches from July to January, and his abdomen apparently was filling up with fluid and he was not well, and so I ended up having to have him put down, and then my illness did not get any better. So I finally had to go into the doctor sinus infection, ear infection, bronchitis, all the goodness and finally got on some antibiotics.

Speaker 1:

But it's been really interesting navigating each day because I think my body was like hey, you need to rest my body, the universe, whatever. And so I have taken a lot of time over the last couple of weeks to just rest. And it is not always easy for me to do that because I, like everybody else, have all the things going on in my head about all the things I need to be doing, all the things I should be doing, and I really just had to pause and listen to my body. And so I've been very intentional with just trying to relax and allow myself to do that and rest. And I think sometimes it's hard for us to remember that sometimes we need to do that, and when your body is talking to you, you've gotta listen, you've gotta listen, and sometimes it'll smack you upside the head, you know, in a pretty intense way. So it's important to take that time for yourself and not should yourself, and just remember that every day is a new day and you know we get to start fresh every single day. Oh, part of my fence also blew down. Fortunately I had some friends living with me and my friend went out and like put it up in the snow, the section that fell down. Like it's just been not a great couple of weeks.

Speaker 1:

But that's why I don't like to set resolutions, because I just take every day at a time, you know, and I follow my impulses and follow my intuition, and I start every day asking how can I allow the universe to surprise and delight me? Today, and even when I haven't been feeling well, I've been surprised and delighted every single day, whether it was a conversation with a friend or a friend of mine bringing me flowers. You know just all the little things and just pay attention to those little things, because they can really make a big difference every single day. And just remember that tomorrow is a new day and like I'm gonna start my yoga back up again tonight and I'm gonna start where I left off. I'm not gonna skip ahead, I'm gonna get back to where I was, because I feel better when I'm doing yoga and I want to feel good, so I'm gonna do the things that make me feel good.

Speaker 1:

So I don't know how your year has started, but mine has been rough and I know in the past the years have started off a little bit rough, but by the end of the year I have no idea what's gonna happen. So I just take it one day at a time. So I hope you are having an amazing year and if you're not, just take it one day at a time and we will get through it together. I hope you have a beautiful, beautiful day. Thank you so much for watching my son.
