Permission To Feel 'Off'
This episode wasn’t planned - and maybe that’s exactly the point.
In this honest reflection, I'm here in the middle of a day that just felt… off. After trying various way to shift my energy with no real change, I chose to share the truth of where I'm at - discombobulated (an odd word that came to me that isn't a word I ever use!) raw, and real - because life isn’t always polished or perfectly aligned.
As we reach the halfway mark of the year, I would like to invite you to reflect on how you want to feel moving forward. Even on the messy days. Especially on the messy days. I also share a deeply personal story of attending my cousin’s recent celebration of life. Please remember that you are not alone, and your life matters.
You don’t need to be high vibe to be on your path. You just need to show up as you are.

Welcome back to the Pure Possibilities podcast. So today has been a very interesting day, and this isn't quite the episode that I had intended to record. But I've been a little bit off today and I've actually sat down a couple of different times to record and it just wasn't feeling right, and so at this point I'm not exactly sure what this episode is going to be. But I don't want to just disappear when I don't have it all together and I'm having an off day, because that's really what life is about. We have our really good days and amazing days, and then we have days where we feel a little bit off, and today that is how I'm feeling, and so I was thinking about the fact that we are halfway through the year and we started the year with how do you want to feel right and feeling our way into the new year, and now we're halfway through, and so, even though I'm feeling off, today, the word that actually came to me was discombobulated, like I've done all the things to move my energy, and I know that I cannot think my way through this. I need to feel my way through it, and I have shaken my body, I have danced, I have cried, I took a nap. I've done a lot of different things and it's just well. I feel better than I did earlier, but it's just definitely one of those days and I know that tomorrow is a new day and I get to choose how I want to feel, which is also interesting, because I woke up this morning, I was like I get to choose how I want to feel, which is also interesting because I woke up this morning I was like I get to choose how I want to feel today, and then it just like went downhill. So I guess I just wanted to come on and remind you that you know what we all have off days. Maybe you've had days like that too, where you're showing up and you're trying and you're reaching for all the things and it just still feels off, and so sometimes it's not about fixing it in the moment. It's about being honest with yourself and asking like, how do I want to feel moving forward, even if I'm not feeling that today, and also knowing that tomorrow is a new day and I'll be able to start again. So we still have six more months left in 2025.
Speaker 1:And even if today is messy or your energy is off, you are allowed to decide how you want to feel moving forward, not from pressure, not from a I should feel better, but from possibility and curiosity and compassion and not judging yourself. Please don't judge yourself when you're having an off day. We are the ones that get to navigate how our days are going to go, from every decision and every choice that we make throughout our day, and I guess I didn't get to decide that I was going to feel super off today, but I have the awareness that I know that I'm off and so I know things to do to help me shift that and, like I said, I'm in a much better space than I was earlier, but it has definitely been a day and and that's okay. Like we, we have days like that, and so I guess, if you're feeling like you should be in a certain space or you should be more clear or more put together or more anything, just know that I'm not today either and we're still okay. Like we're, we're okay, and tomorrow's a new day. So I know one thing for me that has come up, and this is a little bit, this is a little bit heavy.
Speaker 1:Actually, as I sit here, I'm looking at a picture of my cousin who passed away at the beginning of April and I attended her celebration of life on Saturday and witnessing our family and her friends talking about her and how joyful she was and what a light she was to them and how deeply they loved. Her was so beautiful and she committed suicide and she left behind two young children and I hadn't had a lot of contact with her over the last. I hadn't seen her actually for a long time. We had had some contact, you know, through like Facebook Messenger and things like that. It made me realize how there have been multiple people that I have known that have committed suicide and it's it reminded me why I do what I'm doing, why my soul is calling me to help people, because life doesn't have to always feel awful or it doesn't have to suck and there are brighter days ahead, even when the days don't feel good, or maybe the moment doesn't feel good. And I'm not a doctor and I'm not a therapist, but I know deep in my soul that we have the ability to shift the direction of our life, especially when we reconnect back to ourselves. And if you're ever feeling lost or hopeless, please just know that there is help available. And sometimes even the people that shine the brightest light are also hurting and in pain and we're doing life together and so whatever you can do to love and support the people in your life and take care of you and do the things for yourself to care for your mental health and your physical health, and you're important and you matter and I hope that my cousin knows how deeply loved she was, because the love in that room was incredible and make sure the people in your life know how much you love and care about them and if you see someone hurting or even if they appear to have it all together, make sure you check in with your people. You know I had tried recording this earlier and I was crying so much that it was fairly inaudible.
Speaker 1:One of the things that really helped me in the beginning of my journey, when I was feeling pretty lost and hopeless, was the positive what if questions and, you know, just allowing myself the opportunity to be open to the possibility that something could be better. And that's why I continue to share the magic of what if? Because it really is magical and it was pretty life changing for me, being in a pretty dark, unhappy space in my life thing in your world. But what if? It allows you the opportunity to maybe just look at things from a different perspective and help you to even make a small shift every day that can help you to start feeling a little bit better. And then, when you also start incorporating doing things for yourself and loving yourself and showing yourself grace and compassion, and learning different tools to, or ways to, regulate your nervous system and connect with your body and listen to your body, talk to you and let you know what it needs.
Speaker 1:Because when we hold everything in and cram it down and suppress it and don't allow ourselves the opportunity to express the feelings that are in our body, that's where we start to shut down and push people away and we start down the I'm fine, I'm fine path and if you're not fine, reach out and ask for help, because we don't have to hide behind I'm fine. So I'd like to offer a couple of questions to reflect on, in case you might be having an off day Pause and ask yourself how do I want to feel the second half of this year and what would I need more of to feel that way and what might I need to let go of? So, before we close, I'm going to pull a card from the Magic of what If? Card deck volume two. I was going to talk a lot more about that today, but I'll save that for another day. All right, today's card is what if the universe is always conspiring in my favor? Maybe I was meant to have an off day today? Maybe this is the message that needed to be shared.
Speaker 1:You are not alone. Sometimes we feel very alone, but we're not. Sometimes our growth journey can feel very lonely, but we're not. We're always surrounded by love and support, even in those moments where we feel really alone. So this is me showing up just as I am, and maybe that's enough for today. You don't have to have it all figured out to take your next breath. You don't need to be high vibe and super positive all the time to be on your path. That's truly where pure possibilities came from.
Speaker 1:I had asked a mentor of mine what happens when you're just in a space of neutrality You're not super duper happy and you're not super low and she said you're in a state of pure possibility. You can choose to go up or down. The choice is always yours, and that's where pure possibilities came from. And today for me, it was just an off day and I'm going to get some good sleep tonight and take care of myself this evening and tomorrow is a new day. Thank you so much for being here with me in the real messy middle in the moment. We are halfway through the year and there's still so much possible. How do you want to feel?
