Speaker 1:

Hello everyone and good morning. This is Get Fit Methods, fit Life Blueprint. Another episode is our podcast. My name is DJ Corsi, master trainer. I'm a master of a lot of things. How's the saying go, jack of all trades, master of none.

Speaker 1:

Well, this is my podcast and I'd like to start off with or this episode is going to be about sleep, because I hear it so often about how most people have a problem sleeping and there are some ways to kind of set yourself up to do that and to kind of cover some of those things. On the podcast We'll go through a different host of different ways to kind of set yourself up. You can try a few of those methods to see if they work for you. But are you one of those people who either can't get to sleep or stay asleep, or just have a problem sleeping Period? Don't take naps, can't take naps, which is, you know, that's to your zone. But again, this channel is mostly about moms, women over 40. But this will apply to anyone not really anyone, but it applied to whatever method works for you, or it seemed like it would work for you. Go over that. I'll make references to how I do it later on, but right now we're going to talk about those who either had sleep apnea, which is another medical thing that probably I will not be able to help you with, but you can still try some of these methods of trying to get relaxed enough to get some decent sleep, because the whole thing that we all want to do is basically get to sleep, stay asleep and wake up energized. And some of those reasons why we cannot do that because either we have problem breathing while we're sleeping or, of course, you get older, you get to go to the bathroom and then getting back to sleep can be a challenge for some people. Me personally, I don't have I never had a problem sleeping. I take naps when I want to. I get up to the bathroom, I come back, I'm ready back to sleep. But what I will say, some of the things that has helped me do this and what I get into later, will hopefully help you as well. So when it comes to sleep, there's a lot of different things basically going on.

Speaker 1:

Before I was about to sleep, like I hear people. They will say the industry, who wants to sell you this melatonin and where it's got sleep aids to have there are less aggressive or less disruptive ways to get to sleep without melatonin. What I do know about melatonin and again, I'm not a doctor or anything like that, so what I do know about melatonin is mostly gear from those who have jet lag. Now, what I've heard about melatonin is that it can also disrupt your sleep in a way that it shows up your clock, your biological clock whatever that clock is, makes you go to sleep at certain times. You're through that all because that's what it does. It's mostly for that. Now, if this seemed to work for you, more power to you. There are other ways to do that and I'm gonna go through those. Some of the ways that I do it, and other people have tried it as well. That works really well.

Speaker 1:

Now, the fastest way from my understanding I think the Navy SEAL one of those is to if you've probably heard before too is to prop your feet up above your heart. So you want your feet elevated in a way that's above your heart. That way it'll cause you to go sleep a lot faster, and I've tried this in the gym. I prop my feet up on a bench and I wanna take a quick nap and I prop my feet up and I go to sleep for about 10, 15 minutes, like I slept 40s, a good 30 minutes to an hour, and that's the kind of sleep you really wanna have. In any case, you wanna be able to sleep fast, easy. In regards to how long you slept, it felt like you slept for a long time, even though you may not slept for a long time. That we call the rapid eye moving sleep or deep sleep. That's what we're trying to get to.

Speaker 1:

Another method that you can try and I think it works phenomenal is I listen to priority going to bed First. I get really quiet in my head if I can, and I take some night deep breaths and I put my earbuds in which. I'm not supposed to do that because it's disrupted. But if you're trying to get to sleep and it's better than drugs, how about that? So I usually listen to the Tibetan bowls. Now, the reason why I think this works so well is because of the vibration coming from the bowls is very relaxing and also pushing in a very kind of almost a meditative state, and I'll provide that later on in one of my a download on my website, which is GetFitMethodscom Still working on it a little bit, but you can go check it out. It came out very nicely. I've got a lot of free downloads on that too.

Speaker 1:

But back to the matter of the hand, or another thing you can try that I've tried is calm. It's a magnesium kind of a powder mixing with some water, drink that prior to and the combo of the magnesium, which is very relaxing as well, and the Tibetan bowls, singing or anything like that. Meditative, relaxing music, or sometimes I listen to like the rainstorm with the thunder and the rain, stuff like that. That helps as well. But all those things you gotta set yourself up for it and make time to kind of set up your environment so you can do that. So that's my take on sleep. Try those things out.

Speaker 1:

One little last tidbit too. So what I did not know and it's kind of a last point and again I can't really help with this situation, but this is what I found out. At one point I was talking to a lady who was a sleep doctor, who basically a professional in sleep apnea and stuff like that, and one thing she told me that I thought was very interesting was that when you gain weight I don't know the exact amount of weight, but when you gain weight your tongue actually gains weight too, and that's why the sleep apnea the part of the sleep apnea coming from, is the fact that you can't get proper airflow and basically kind of stops or limits your breathing because your tongue is basically swollen. So back to being healthy and losing weight and all that kind of stuff was very important. So, if nothing else, sets yourself up for success as far as that is to, what does that mean? We can get that later.

Speaker 1:

Right now, I just want to talk about sleep. This is something I learned. I hope this helps someone out there. Feel free to comment or come back to our channel. Please share it and, when you know, look forward to speaking to you guys again. Like I said, later episode, we would start inviting other speakers who are professionals in these atmospheres of health and wellness and women and health and training and stuff like that. That way, everybody can get fit fast and we can sleep easy and we can enjoy life one day at a time. So, with that being said, did you, coursey, get fit? Methods fit like blueprint.
