Ever wondered about the age-old saying, 'Feed a cold and starve a fever'? Buckle up and join me, Dietrich Horsey, as I debunk this myth and dive into the crucial role of hydration and nutrient intake in recovery from cold and flu. We'll also explore the intriguing concept of intermittent fasting and its potential role in boosting recovery. Still, it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. Your journey to health will depend heavily on your personal needs and circumstances.

In this winter episode, we'll take a leaf out of Woody Harrelson's book, who banks on raw foods and shuns meat and processed foods during flu season. But it's not just about what you eat. We'll also discuss how the holiday season, known for extravagant eating, drinking, and stress, might be wreaking havoc on your immune system. On a lighter note, we'll also delve into my training approach, tempo training, with wide-ranging exercise videos available on the Get Fit Methods YouTube channel. And to top it off, we'll take a look at the GetFitMethods.com quiz, designed to assist you on your fitness journey. Get ready for an insightful, practical, and engaging session. Speaker 1:

Hey, welcome back. This is Dietrich Horsey with Get Fit Methods Fit Life Blueprint. Are you feeling the symptoms of the cold and flu season yet? Sore throat, fever, scratchy throat, can't sleep, high stress, headache, body ache all those lovely things that happen cold and flu season Are you one of those people who are feeling the effects of it? And the question of the day is should you, or is it even true? Should you feed a cold and starve a fever? That is the question of the day. Maybe someone can answer that, but I'm going to help you. So when you say feed a cold, starve a fever, you may lose appetite. This is very true, but recent asserts have shown that it is not actually true that you should do those things at all. What it does say, according to, I think it's, let's say it is Duke University, I think it may be Nope wrong, it is Smithsonian Science, scientific America, so such as shown that this is not actually true. You should definitely just make sure you are properly hydrated one and make sure that you have some kind of nutrients in your body, because that would definitely help aid your recovery and help fight bacteria and stuff like that.

Speaker 1:

They mentioned about intermittent fasting. Is that a thing for getting better faster. I think it really all depends on the person. Tell you the truth, some people respond to some things better than others, but I think as a whole, if you're eating healthy most of the time, I think you definitely recover faster, but also you may not get sick at all.

Speaker 1:

I know Woody Harrison Harrison how do you pronounce his name? His way of doing these kind of things. He said when he feels like he's catching a cold, he and his family. He saw his girls and his family the same thing too his kids to eat more raw foods, no meat, nothing processed, which is just really common sense. We get right down to it, just common sense. I think something just makes so much common sense that, as my friend would say, common sense is the least use of all senses, and I think it's what it's coming down to with us. I think we kind of over educate ourselves or got so much information out there that we just overlooked the common sense approach.

Speaker 1:

Tony Robbins would mention years ago about why he thinks the cold and flu season starts when it does, and that's because we are overwhelming our body with all these different parties that come up, starting from October, all the sugar, then you got November. We have overeating, stuffing ourselves like turkeys, and then we have, of course, the beverages that go along with it, and then we run into December. Now we're highly stressed. Still same thing overeating, probably definitely drinking leading up to the new year too as well. So that overwhelms your immune system. Therefore it's not as equipped to fight off any kind of viruses that may come up. I think it just comes down to something simple as that. So, starve the cold, feed the fever. Now a thing just take care of yourselves. Drinks lots of fluids, make sure you got some proper nutrients. Maybe go raw for a while, raw foods like woody. But that is the topic of the day, because I know everybody's got these flu symptoms coming in and out of the gym or I hear it online that people are definitely feeling the effects of it. Any kind of makes sense to me happens almost every year. I think we just kind of forget or wanna forget that it's happened the same time every year. So that's what I have for you today, folks.
