Embark on a journey through the peaks and valleys of fitness motivation with me, your guide in the quest for a healthier, stronger self. I share the raw truth of my experiences, once a disciplined bodybuilder now facing the same challenges you do when the lure of the couch is stronger than the call of the weights. We take a hard look at the fitness industry's love affair with quick fixes and the seductive, yet hollow promises of effortless results. But I'll tell you straight – there's no magic pill, no secret shortcut. It's about grit, sweat, and the kind of work that forges not just muscle, but character.

Together, we confront the comforting lies that make it easy to back away from our goals, and we explore why embracing the grind is essential. Let's talk about why those workouts you dread are the ones that count the most, how they steel your resolve for life's challenges beyond the gym walls. Forget chasing fun in your fitness routine; I argue that it's through serious, focused effort that we achieve the most gratifying progress. So, strap in, and prepare to push beyond what's comfortable – because on the other side of that struggle lies the true strength you've been seeking.

Speaker 1:

Hey everybody, season's greetings. This is Teacher with Get Fit Methods, the Fit Life Blueprint. Welcome to our podcast. Hope everyone's having a great time or had a great time heading to the new year.

Speaker 1:

I was having a conversation with a few of my clients today about motivation and change and how to keep motivated and the question was asked that do I ever feel like days that I don't feel like working out? Of course I have quite a few of those days, most because my routine, like my bodybuilding days. I had a routine. It was pretty rigid. Now I'm a little more relaxed about my routine but I will say it makes it a little harder for me to get into workout mode without my rigid 5 am get up cardio 12 o'clock, 1 o'clock resistance training Monday through Friday would I fail? I don't have that routine anymore, but I do think it's necessary to stay focused, stay motivated, purpose the whole thing and that's why I think a lot of times if you are one of those people that have a hard time getting motivated or staying motivated, you know some esoteric method of you know it's okay to relax, and it is. It's okay to relax, it's okay to not work out as hard that. I'm not sure about that part. I mean, I think for those who teach that method of you know it's okay to not work out hard or not put for all your effort into the workout or whatever you exercise you're doing for the time being, because how long it is, I think that method is is false because, just like anything, if you're in school and you're studying for a test and you kind of have to kind of focus on doing it correctly or put for a little bit of effort to do it, chances are a lot of times it just becomes easy for you, then it's a different story. But for the most part you're probably not going to do well and you'll probably find other reasons not to do well, because I think we start making excuses in the routine because of the fact that you have to put all effort in to make sure that you test yourself in that way.

Speaker 1:

So for the industry you know you sell these things about. You know, take this pill and get in the best shape of your life. You don't have to exercise. Do this and exercise less. Eat this fruit, eat this or take this pill and you have to do any kind of exercise. I think that's setting everyone up for failure. I think it's setting you up for failure more than one way. Matter of fact, if you want to kind of people who believe in taking these shortcuts, if you will to kind of get in shape, then you will become more or less motivated to do anything because you're looking for the shortcut you. If you're not, if you're not working out hard. Here's a model that I give my clients and I'm not sure who I got it from, but I truly believe it.

Speaker 1:

And when it comes to fitness and getting in shape, it may sound a little hardcore, but if you're having fun, you're probably not getting fit. I think fitness is meant to be challenging, it's meant to be hard, it's meant to be. If you can find it be stimulating in some kind of way that's challenged you to go beyond what is comfortable, then that being uncomfortable Kind of set you up for anything else in life that that will be uncomfortable, because you know it's gonna happen somewhere in life. You're gonna be uncomfortable, you're not gonna feel like doing a lot of things. But if you are the one who always finds yourself a shortcut to To Avoiding the fact of feeling uncomfortable, to be comfortable, then you're less likely to go Far and a endeavor you have. It's just known fact there's gonna be some parts of that's gonna be really uncomfortable and you have to train your mind, your body in a way that you can overcome that being uncomfortable.

Speaker 1:

So, yeah, there are days that I don't feel like working out. Absolutely Do that force my sister do it? Yes, I do. Do I always for myself to do it, not all the time, but 95% of the time? Yes, I do. And when I, when I train, yes, I meet myself uncomfortable because, well me, I kind of enjoy it because it does set me up mentally For anything else that may come in everyday life. I fear if I can get through that part of being that uncomfortable, then it kind of transfers itself over to To anything else that may be uncomfortable when it comes to working out. So have those moments, don't let it. You know, hinder, you know it's only 30 minutes retie, 30 minutes, 30 minutes of intense workout and you got a rest of the day to kind of do everything you really enjoy doing besides working out having fun with your kids or, you know, talk to good friends with kids. Maybe it shouldn't take you all day to be uncomfortable 15, 20, 20 minutes, maybe 30 minutes tops, to be really uncomfortable. That's not too much to ask. I don't think so.
