Hey there. Welcome to the coming home to joy business podcast. I'm your host, Tina Joy Cochran, and I am so happy that you are here. There is no need to stop your busy life right now. Let's just hang out together as we discover more joy in business. Just drop me into your pocket and keep on going. Can't wait to share this episode with you. Coaches have coaches and recently in a coaching session with my business coach, he asked me a question. The question was, Tina, what does joy have to do with business? Well, that got me thinking. That got me thinking, that got me praying, that got me seeking the Lord and trying to really articulate clearly, what does it mean to have joy in your business? What does it mean to be joy led? This has brought me to a place where I really am excited to share with you what to do about. Being joy led, what the next steps are, how to understand what we mean by having a joy led business and how you can get it for yourself. Just keep listening as we walk through this process? Drop me in your pocket. Let's go get some stuff done and hang out together at the same time So what does it mean to be? Joy led. Well, let's start with joy. What does joy mean? I want to make sure you understand clearly when I talk about joy I'm not talking about a feeling if we try to Define joy as a feeling, what ends up happening is we are struggling all the time when things are hard. That is not joy. When we talk about joy, we're talking about a way of being, we're talking about a way of walking through the world that allows you to operate in a place of peace and a place of strength that brings you into growing a business that you can love for a lifetime. So why does joy matter in your business? Well, I like to joke that having a business, growing a business is forced professional development. You see, your business will only grow to the level that you do. If you want to have a business that earns income and that you get to create the things that you want to create, then you need to be in a place of joy where you can come from a place of confidence and come from a place of peace. and can continue to show up. Let's go a little bit deeper when we think about joy, when we think about being joy led, joy actually consists of three components. The first component of joy would be clarity. What do I mean by clarity? Clarity in your purpose, in your mission, in your assignment, in what this business is that You're here for, we talk often about clarity of purpose, clarity of assignment, and let's talk about where that is in the Bible. Where does it show up? Well, if you think about Jesus in Hebrews 12, two, it says for the joy set before him, he endured the cross, scorning its shame and sat down at the right hand of the father. Jesus showed us that when we're clear about our purpose. Our mission, our assignment, what we are here to do, then we can go through the tough stuff and still be in a place of joy. And that's what we're looking for when we talk about that first component of joy being clarity. Are you clear on what your purpose is, what you have been created to do that can seem overwhelming. If you're not clear right now, stop for a second, take a breath. I got you. You don't have to have clarity at this moment. What we're trying to do is recognize that maybe we need to figure that out. Second component of joy is confidence. The confidence in your identity, in who you are. See, when you know who you are and what you're designed for, now you come from a place of solidness, place of substance that allows you to move forward through the tough stuff. The Bible says in Nehemiah 8 10, that the joy of the Lord is my strength. When you know who you are, you can gain strength to stand in joy, even when it's hard. This is why it's so important to recognize that joy can be so much more than how you feel. Joy can be a place of being, a place of who you are, a place of being confident in who you are in Christ, who God created you to be and what he created you for, but neither of these really matter much. If we don't have the third component, and what's the third component? The third component is commitment. Now, what do I mean by commitment? Commitment to keep showing up. Romans 15, 13 says, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy. and peace because you trust in him, then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit. You see, as we choose to show up over and over, then we get to grow in joy. And then we begin to overflow. And everything becomes so much easier as you grow in this joy is a process. It's a way of being, it's not a place you get to, it's a way of being. It's understanding who God created you to be and what he created you for. And then every day making the choice to recommit to that and show up again. We think about Jesus. That's exactly what Jesus did. He knew who he was, he knew what he was called to do, and he walked in it every day when it was good and when it was bad, when it was hard. And I would bet there were days where he woke up and didn't feel like it because he was human just like us. So what does this look like when we put it all together? When you are joy led, when you are in this place where you are led by this confidence and clarity, and you're committed to the process, you become so focused on. Whatever it is that you're designed to do, that you learn what you need to learn. You grow where you need to grow. You enjoy what you need to enjoy. You struggle through what you need to struggle through and you walk with a level of confidence and strength that overflows onto others. And that creates joy for them. Joy is contagious as you overflow onto others, then they've discovered joy for themselves too. As you pursue this process, here's what happens. Joy becomes the plumb line. It becomes the anchor for your life. It's the thing that informs your decisions. And then what happens when you bring this to a business that you want to create? Well, let's think about this for a second. Imagine this. You wake up in the morning with a clear picture of your business when it's successful, what it looks like when it's done, you spend your days doing what fills you up, creating the things you want to create, sharing with the people you want to share with growing the way. God is designing you to grow. And because of this, you love where you are and what you do. And then it becomes easy to talk to others about it. And they're inspired to join you, purchase from you or connect deeper with what you are creating. Your business becomes something that you are proud of. You love it. You love your customers. Can you imagine what that would feel like? Can you imagine what it would feel like with your business to be in a place where it is something you are completely proud of and that you are confident in? Offering If you have listened to previous episodes, you've heard me talk about the most effective marketing strategy is the one that you will do. You see this whole business thing isn't really about what technology, or what technique you're using. It's about you when you are designing a business, like we do, when you're designing a lifestyle business. One that takes how God designed you and helps you earn income so that you can live that lifestyle that you want. You can have that farm. You can have that peaceful life. You can have. The time that you want, you can have the ability to create all the things that are in your head. It starts with joy. When you lean into learning what your purpose is, what is the clarity? What did God design you to do? The clarity of why he put you here and then get some confidence. And the fact that you were created by someone who already had a plan. And you are a brilliant, incredible, amazing child of God, and you take some time every day to commit to it. What you will discover is everything starts to fall into place. This is why joy led businesses are the ones we can love for a lifetime. That's what it means to have a joy led business. It's one that you are committed to. That you are clear about that is comfortable for who you are. That's what we do in the Golden Heartland community that I run. That's what this podcast is for. And if we can do it, you can do it too. So what's the next step for you? I always. Try on these podcast episodes to give you some practical things that you can do next. So here's what I want you to do today. Ask yourself three questions. Number one, who am I? What do I mean? Who am I? Do I see myself as a child of God? Do I see myself as uniquely created for something spectacular? Next question. What is my assignment in particular in business? If I'm doing a business, what is it for? Why am I doing this? Get some clarity around that. Then ask yourself the question, am I committed? To those answers. Am I committed? Am I willing to commit to this? If this sounds hard, if this sounds like, wow, Tina, that's really deep stuff. I don't have an answer for who am I? I don't have an answer for what is my assignment. Then you only have one question to answer. How about that? That one question that I want you to ask yourself today is, am I committed to finding out? Now, maybe your answer right now is. No, I don't even know. I just want to make some money. I hear you, trust me, I promise you that as you embrace the process of learning how to be joy led, all of this business stuff that overwhelms you, that confuses you, that makes you frustrated, that makes you feel like you can never do this. And that you're not a business person starts to go away because you don't have to be somebody you're not in order to have the lifestyle business that the Lord designed for you to have. So ask yourself today, who am I? Do I have confidence that I am created by God and a child of God on a scale of one to 10? How confident am I in that next question? What is my assignment? Do I have clarity on what this assignment, what this purpose is that I'm doing this business? And last question on a scale of one to 10, how committed am I to either finding out the answer to questions one and two, or to the answers that I just discovered, what's my level of commitment today, I put together a joy led business daily journal, and you can find it on the golden heartland website.
