Nancy Monica Bio – In 1994 my 4th daughter was born, due to delivery complications, she began having seizures at 12 days of age.

This changed the life of our entire family.  I went from working at Motorola in Marketing, to a full on crusade to combat epilepsy.  I co-founded CURE, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy, which has raised more than $1B to fund cutting edge research for epilepsy worldwide.  I served on several boards and committees including, Options & Advocacy, Families ETC., CDC Expert panel participant for the IDEA, NIH Benchmark Committee Member and Co-chair and founder of Advocates for Epilepsy.  Epilepsy has become a special interest of mine, due to being directly affected by this life robbing disorder with my daughter.

In 1998 I began serving individuals in McHenry County with epilepsy.  In 2010, as the Director of Telehealth, I co-founded the first ever epilepsy telehealth program in the U.S. along with Marvin Rossi, MD., PhD., Epileptologist.  This unique model combined state-of-the art subspecialty medical care, mental health, pharmacist consultation and community based social services.   Data collected over this 10 period proved healthcare cost savings by reducing local emergency department visits.  This program was monitored by the CDC with hopes to replicate throughout the U.S.
