I'm your host, Billy Boss, and you're listening to the Billy Boss Show. Today we are going to talk about how to build a self-confidence. How can you build that self-confidence?
And that's actually one of the questions that I do receive a lot that people do ask me, Billy, how can I boost my confidence? And usually I will follow with, well, how about you ask yourself, what is that confidence going to do for you? So to start off with deepening the roots of what that confidence is going to do for you. Sometimes it's really great to know the steps and strategies and tips and everything else, um, how to do something. But if we are not seeing the benefit of it, it's really not going to help us much.
So I want you to really to, to start off with, to see the benefit of confidence before you start. And please let me let me just share this with you. You already know what you need to do to boost your confidence, to rebuild your confidence. You already know that. However, we are not doing it.
You're not taking the steps. Why? Because confidence is practice. Confidence is stepping out of your comfort zone, doing things that you haven't done before. Repetition.
Challenging yourself. So you know what you need to do in order to gain that confidence. But you're not doing it because the mind is there to protect us of embracing new things and challenges. C building confidence is not always easy, and it requires intentional. How how many times in our podcast I have been saying intentional.
So confidence requires intentional effort and commitment. And today I'm going to share with you the 4 key aspects of gaining more self-confidence, something that I have actually used in my life. I'm still using it and I think that I will always use it. And as I'm going through my life, I always go back to this 4 basics and I always will sort of introduce other things that will help me on rebuilding or keeping or strengthening my confidence. So, so key.
Number 1. The first step towards building self-confidence is making a conscious choice. Now this choice can be different for everybody else. So in order for you to start building your or rebuilding your self-confidence, you need to make a choice that you're going to do that. So make a choice of you choosing to rebuild self-confidence.
How is it going to look like for you? Decide. Make a decision. Decision is available to you. Confidence is available to all of us.
Another. Another choice that I'm going to invite you to do is to make choice to believe in yourself. So in order for you to start rebuilding or building that self-confidence from scratch, make a choice that you are going to do that from now and on. Conscious choice, and make a choice that you are going to believe in your abilities, in your thoughts, in your feelings, in your behaviors, you are going to do that. So by choosing to believe in yourself, making that conscious choice, you are setting the foundation.
You are setting the tone for anything that there is to come for any actions and attitudes. When individuals choose to embrace self-belief and positivity, they open the door to endless possibilities and opportunities. So by making the choice to have the confidence and making the choice to believe in yourself, it allows individuals to overcome self doubts and fears. So the first key to regain or gain or rebuild more self-confidence is to make a conscious choice that from now and on, from today, you are going to build more confidence and make a choice to believe in your amazing self. Now the second key to building confidence is courage.
You need to gain that courage to step outside of your comfort zone. You need to gain the courage to take that bold action. Now, if you want to achieve something that you haven't done before, you haven't achieved before, you need to gain the courage to start working towards that goal. That means you really need to take different steps. You really need to start thinking differently, feeling differently.
So courage enables individuals to step outside of their comfort zone and to take a bold action. Now, courage is not the absence of fear, but I want you to think of courage as the willingness to confront the fear and overcome it. Now, when faced with challenges or some uncertainties, two things can happen. First, you can do nothing. Nothing.
Meaning you are overthinking nothing. Meaning you're creating that pain of that journey. You are looking at every obstacle, every failure. So you can do nothing. Or you can take that courageous step to push through the doubts and fears in any insecurities, and to move towards your goal now by gaining the courage to push through.
You are setting foundation for increased self confidence, and what really helped me to gain this courage to work towards my goal is knowing why am I doing it? What are the benefits? How that end result will do me better, how that will actually provide better lifestyle for me? Or what is there going to do personally for me? I would take time and make a plan of my goal.
What is my goal? What are the certain steps that I need to do? And because at that time in my life, it took a lot of a lot of things to work on myself to gain that courage. Guess what I did? I really micro stepped.
I put all the amazing steps that I need to do in order to get get to my goal, but I really did my microstepping and I started maybe with easiest thing to do towards my goal. So I'll give you an example. Um, there is a story, and I'm sure you have heard by this stage that I have been told that I will never run, and I wanted to do running. I wanted to change my beliefs. So I chose to believe in myself, and I chose to believe that I'm a runner.
Now, the courageous thing was, okay, you really need to start running. And of course, a marathon takes forty two kilometres to complete, and you cannot absolutely start with feeling like, okay, now I can get up and do forty two kilometres. What I have done, I broke everything down. What does it take for a marathon runner to complete that marathon? Well, when I put down things, it's exercising, running, building the strength, hydration, dieting, um, sleeping.
Well. So all of these things. And my micro stepping was hydrating myself. Well, that was the easiest thing for me. I started drinking more water, taking more hydralyte whatever I needed to take.
At that time I started doing maybe squats and lunges before I even attempted to do any runs. Now, instead of me going for a run for five kilometres, guess what I did? I would do two hundred meters and I will sit back the following day. Two hundred and fifty meters. I'll drink more water.
I'll hydrate hydralyte I'll actually again do a bit of exercise. So do what you can. Set yourself goal, break it down micro step it and start with what's the easiest? And then you will see how courageous you will become by embracing those little steps, one step at the time and building them towards the bigger steps to achieve your goal. Now courage takes time.
It's not done overnight. Confidence building. Confidence. It's a journey. It's not overnight.
So give yourself permission to get in the habit of embracing new opportunities by being courageous and doing little steps towards your goal. And you know what's the best feeling about embracing the courage when we act courageously. We prove to our amazing selves that we are capable of overcoming any challenges. Which boosts our self-esteem, which boosts our self-worth and reinforces our belief system in our capabilities. And here's another thing that that helped me to become more courageous is when I feel afraid to embrace that step and show any courage.
I got in habit asking myself, what do I have to lose? Or even what is the worst case scenario that can happen in here? Because I haven't done this before, so I can go back to where I started, which is from zero. Or on the flip side, I can start flying and thriving towards my goal. Now that brings us to key number 3, committing to your journey.
Now you can have a choice. You can have the courage. But if we now don't have that commitment to our journey. Before you know it, nothing will happen. Building self-confidence.
Building your dream life. Transforming yourself whatever you want to achieve. It's a journey that requires dedication and perseverance. So committing is a crucial factor because it keeps individuals focused on their goals and motivates them to overcome the obstacles. Commitment requires discipline, so this is the area where you really need to set those clear intentions Where you need to set a clear plan and staying disciplined in the pursuit of your goal.
So you need to stay committed to your journey and do absolutely whatever it takes to get you to where you want to be. When you commit to a goal, you are also making that promise to yourself that you really don't want to break that promise with yourself. Because if you make a promise to yourself and soon after you break it, guess what? It will really hinder your self-confidence. So making commitment to your goal, you're making a promise to yourself that you are going to prioritize it, that you will stay dedicated, that you will be focused, and you will do whatever it takes to overcome any setbacks and challenges to get to where you want.
Something that helped me committed in my journey helped me to define what that commitment is to me. So I'm encouraging you to ask yourself, what does commitment mean to me? What is your definition of commitment? To me, it meant that I am dedicating myself wholeheartedly in this goal that I'm going to build a better relationship with myself. If I stayed committed in this journey, I'm going to feel better, to be better, to do better, to have more.
So what that is for you. What does commitment mean to you? Define what your definition of commitment is, and you will even find much easier to approach that commitment towards your goal and to stay committed. And I can reassure you, my friend, by staying commitment committed to your goals. By staying committed to yourself, you are going to demonstrate Resilience and that resilience is needed everywhere.
It's a key factor in achieving any sort of success personally, professionally, whatever you want. That resilience is needed in your relationship with yourself, in relationship with your intimate partner, in relationship with your amazing, beautiful children. That resilience is required in building the business. That resilience is required to becoming athlete. That resilience is required on a daily basis.
Living day to day. We need that resilience. After all, my friend commitment serves as the driving force behind turning your goals into reality and realizing your full potential. Now we are down to key number 4 or even better, see number 4 its continuation. It is consistency.
Call it whatever you want, but we need to continue on this journey. We need to show up and be consistent. We need to follow through our choice. We need to follow through to our courage, and we need to follow through to our commitment. So we need to become consistent.
We need that continuation by showing up on a daily basis. By continuing our journey, we are showing ourselves that we are staying on track. We are showing ourselves that we are creating that momentum. And certainly in order for us to get to our goal, we need to have that momentum. We need to have the joy towards our goal.
By your consistency, by your continuation, you are gradually making that progress. You are You're gradually boosting your self-esteem. You're actually seeing slowly, your dreams evolving. You are creating what you really set yourself up in the first place for. And this.
Sometimes my friend, can be a bit of a battle to show up on a daily basis to be consistent, because some days you will find that you will need to drag yourself out of the bed. Sometimes days you won't even feel like doing anything. And it's okay. Do what you can as long as you attempt to show up. Some days I don't feel like going to the gym, but I get ready.
I get into the into my car, I drive to the gym and I will walk into the gym and I will do the least I can do. Maybe that's five-minute walk, maybe that's five-minute cycling and I'll come back. But guess what. Swat, I showed up. I'm still engraving the habit of showing up.
So some days you won't feel like it. But do what you can. Doesn't matter how small that is. Still embedded habit. And from my own experience, I can share this with you.
That many times, countless times I went back and forth, back and forth, back and forth. And it's okay. It's okay. I'm still here. I'm still showing up.
I'm still being myself. I'm still being authentic. I'm still embracing my daily challenges, and not to even mention my mental challenges that I always need to battle with. It's okay. It is okay.
And all of this reassures me that I'm living a real life. So keep moving forward. Watch who's in your surroundings. Where can you get support? Who can pick you up when you crash down?
And always keep reassuring yourself that you can believe that you can believe that you are enough. You so can. And I'm perfect example of that, my friend. I so believe you can. So you better believe it too.
Now can you imagine once you combine these 4 Cs, where will your self-confidence be in next six months? In next twelve months? In next 3 years? Five years, once you make that choice, what you're going to do and choosing to believe in yourself, once you gain that courage to step up out of your comfort zone, once you commit to your journey and then start following through, showing up on a daily basis, being, um, consistent, continuing on that journey. Where will you be in twelve months?
I really want you to start thinking of that journey twelve months ahead, to see what is really possible for your self-confidence. It is not a destination, it is a journey. So whatever you're building for yourself, give yourself time. Be kind to yourself. Always practice self-compassion that self-love and self-care towards you by building yourself.
And you know what, my friend? Here is a bonus for you two extra keys. So before you even start working on those 4 keys that we really spoke about, I want you first to give yourself a chance to change. Give yourself a chance to change. Then you go and make your choice.
Gain your courage. Commit and continue on your journey. I hope from the bottom of my heart that this episode, that this message finds you well and that you can take whatever it feels good to you.
