There's something about nighttime that can make everything feel heavier. The quiet it can be deafening. The worries get louder, the tears fall a little easier. If you've ever laid awake with a knot in your stomach and prayers you couldn't quite finish, you're not alone. Psalm 42.8 gives us a powerful picture of God's presence through the night. The psalmist isn't celebrating a trouble-free life. He's clinging to the truth that even in the darkness, god pours out his love.

Even in the silence, there's a song to be sung. Now, that kind of song isn't always upbeat. Sometimes it's a whisper, sometimes it's a cry, but it's still worship because it comes from a place of trust. Pray with me, father God, thank you for being right with me during the night, when fear and sadness try to take over. Remind me of your unfailing love. Give me a song to sing, even if it's just a whisper, and keep my heart anchored in you. In Jesus' precious name, I pray Amen.
