Day 342 The Gift of Grace | Ephesians 2:8–9

Rick Yuhas Season 2 Episode 342

What if you could stop trying to be “enough” and finally rest? Today we open Ephesians 2:8–9 and sit with the scandalous truth that salvation is a gift—unearned, unboosted by our best days, and undiminished by our worst. We talk plainly about how that truth dismantles perfectionism, quiets shame, and breaks the cycle of spiritual performance that leaves so many exhausted.

I share how grace changes the story you tell yourself: from striving to belonging, from fear to trust. You’ll hear a simple reflection exercise—write one place you’ve been hustling for God’s approval, thank Him that His grace has already covered it, and then ask for strength to extend the same mercy to someone in your life. Along the way, we explore how this gift reorients identity, reshapes motives, and strengthens relationships. When you no longer need to earn worth, confession becomes honest, forgiveness becomes possible, and growth becomes sustainable.

We close with a short prayer for rest and courage, then point you to ways to keep the rhythm going with past episodes and resources. If this message lifted a weight off your shoulders, share it with someone who’s tired of performing. Subscribe for daily spiritual refreshment, leave a review to help more people find the show, and tell us: where will you choose rest over earning today?

SPEAKER_00:

Welcome to Wisdom for the Day, your daily source for spiritual refreshment and guidance. I'm Rick. Join me as I dive into God's Word to find clarity and strength for life's challenges. Let me help you embrace each day with faith and wisdom. Ready to feel inspired? Let's get started. Today is day 342, the gift of grace. From Ephesians chapter 2, verses 8 and 9, from the New Living Translation. God saved you by His grace when you believed, and you can't take credit for this. It is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things that we've done, so none of us can boast about it. Grace is one of God's most beautiful gifts. It means we receive what we don't deserve. We couldn't earn salvation, no matter how hard we tried. But God, in His mercy, gave it freely through Jesus. Grace changes how you see yourself and others. It reminds you that you're forgiven, loved, and accepted. Not because of what you've done, but because of what Christ has done. Today, what I want you to do is write down one area of your life where you've been striving to earn God's approval. Pause and thank him that his grace has already covered it. Pray with me. Lord God, thank you for the gift of grace. Help me to rest in what you've done and extend that same grace to others. I ask this in Jesus' precious name. Amen. Well, that's all for today. But I'll be back tomorrow with more of God's Word. To listen to past episodes, go to wisdomforthey.org.
