Welcome to Life Gloss, a beauty podcast for sassy and seasoned women who have lived life and have a drawer full of lip gloss to prove it.
Hillary Clark Mina:Susan, it's holiday 2024. This is our second holiday with LifeGloss. That's right. Happy
Susan Gerdeman:holidays to you and everybody. Cannot believe it's our second holiday together. Look at
Hillary Clark Mina:us. Look at us. It's pretty exciting. And I was, I was thinking people were asking me, about holiday and holiday sets and what we do. I am personally feeling completely overwhelmed by holiday shopping, holiday buying. I think it's because I am involved with TikTok through my vintage beauty. App and right now there's something really interesting happening. The brands are testing Tik TOK and Tik TOK shop is testing to see if it's a good, viable, revenue model. I think it's being way overdone personally in my Opinion. The thing that's cool about what they're doing is TikTok shop is like opening up and they have this catalog where micro influencers and influencers can go and request samples. So all these people that never had access as an influencer to try free samples now do that's good for the brands because they get UGC user generated content, really genuine user generated content. But at the same time, it's also bad because some of the user generated content, people don't have the integrity of people that have been in the industry. So everybody's this is the best widget you've ever seen. You have to get this widget right now. And like, all of a sudden, these things will be trending that you're like, don't, please don't do that. Please don't do that. So I'm up to here with holiday and consumerism, but it got me thinking. And that's why I'm so glad we're doing this. How do we approach the holidays now that we're older? Like for me, I stock up sometimes I'll investigate a discovery set, or I'll buy maybe an expensive device that I've had my eye on if there's a super deal. So it's but I'll, I stock up on my cashmere, my sequins. Supplements I hoard the things that I know I go through. I'll tiptoe into not really committing with a Discovery set. But it's rare that there's an exclusive that comes out that I must have. That used to happen. Do you remember when we had to have these things because they were so cool?
Susan Gerdeman:It's so funny. I went and had a mammogram this morning, which, by the way, if you've not had your mammogram this year, this is a public service announcement, to please. Get your mammogram. It will save your life. Shout out to Lindsey who did that for me today. She asked me when I was getting my mammogram, she said the woman who did it, I told her about our podcast and what we do and Beauty Over 40, etc. And I said, we're going to be talking about holidays today and what holidays mean as we get older. How we approach them and she said, Oh, what are some of the beauty trends? What are some of the trends? And I looked at her and I said, I have to be honest with you. Trends become less important the older you get. It's not that we don't keep our eye on them and we're obviously influenced them, influenced by them like most people are. And it has a trickle down effect. But to your point, I think as we get older, you start to block out the noise. I'm not interested in trend. I'm interested in what I have time to do, what works on me, because now I know who I am and what works on me and what doesn't. I don't have to pretend to be somebody I'm not. I want to be comfortable. I want it quick and easy. So we're going to. Do some makeup as we talk in a minute and show people some things that we do now to look and feel our best. And if you don't want to get off the sofa this holiday season, that is your prerogative. You earned it. You're over 40. You could do whatever the hell you want. But I think trends are really something we don't pay as much attention to. And I also think to your point, Hill, the gift sets are great. If a gift sets of value, I think you should do it. If a gift set is not a value, what's the point? Do we need more plastic? Do I need another bag or cardboard box or free tote? No, I don't. So I think the consumerism part of the holidays, we've gotten more discerning. As we get older to pick and choose. I think to your point, I did some damage during the sales. It's interesting because our industry never in the past ever discounted beauty. Cosmetics never went on sale ever. It wasn't until recently you started seeing this. So blue Mercury is having a sale right now. I did some purchasing there. Sephora just had their huge sale. Violet. Great. Yeah, Neiman's, Credo Saks, Macy's, and even the brands. I don't know if you've been getting this stuff. Yes, I made a whole list.
Hillary Clark Mina:Yes. Victoria Beckham, Tata Harper Typology, Violet Gray, as we said, like everybody is doing some sort of a sale and I feel like, yeah, that's why it's good to stock up, but right. And that's, I agree with you,
Susan Gerdeman:wasting. That's what I did. I stocked up. So I got all my skincare, my beauty, I stocked up. I got some gifts, some stocking stuffers, some little things for friends and whatnot. And I'm doing it that way, but it's funny, we're now I'm thinking about beauty, how I think about clothing and accessories and shoes and all that. I'm not paying full price, I never thought I would say that. But it's You get in this mindset of, especially for us, we know the cost of goods. I could tell you the cost of goods on every product we talk about, but I'm not going to do that. Cause that's not fair. Cause there's more to it. There's more behind the scenes than just, we could do a whole episode on that. But when you know the cost of goods of something. It is hard to pay full price for it. So it's now become I'm not paying full price for my beauty, my skincare, even my shampoos. And I've been posting on Instagram, for those of you that follow us on life gloss podcast on Instagram and Hillary's laughing because yes, I'm finally doing it. And I did something fun this year. And I actually purchased the Liberty advent calendar. I took a bullet for Hillary and I and made that grand purchase and I have to tell you I'm having fun So tune in if you follow us on Instagram every day I'm going to tell you what's in there and it's funny because it was a huge value. I'm going to be honest with you you get a lot for the price and a lot of full size items, but It's some of the stuff I'm going to keep and then some of it I'm putting aside into a bag that's going to be stocking stuff for his little gifts to friends, babysitters, dog walkers, the mail person, et cetera, you can give away these little things. So if you do something like that to any of our listeners that are doing advent calendars or they're doing or they get gift with purchase or any of these items on sale, have a bag that you can put the stuff that you don't like, or that's not good for you, or you're not going to use it. And gift it to someone else, because I think the days of the stigma of re gifting are over, especially if you're honest about it. I got this, I don't use it, it's not for me, and I'd love for you to have it. I'm not just gonna throw out something that's a beauty product. So yeah, there's
Hillary Clark Mina:absolutely no stigma, especially now that, sustainability is such a big deal. I have to tell you one of the biggest things that I've been doing all season, and I think I'm going to create a little, I have created a little advent calendar for it, is I've been crazy busy filling vintage compacts for people. I'm like, this, yes, this is a shameless plug, but make, A compact for someone. This is a piece of jewelry that has lasted forever. Put a magnet in it, fill it with pans. And I customize, you can just go peek in somebody's makeup bag and we can fill something so beautiful. Or even like one of these little guys, I'm a huge advocate of. Giving people vintage it could be books like give them a collection of first collection first edition books or Something like that. It's I feel like as we get older it becomes less about you know Ripping through paper and just having a bunch of junk. We've become hoarders I think in this society, the long, the longer I've been alive, the more I'm like, why does everyone have 15 of everything? You don't need eight highlighters. You don't need nine Brontor pencils. You don't need, just because it's new doesn't mean you have to have it. You're actually not missing out on a single thing. And yeah, and I think that's the,
Susan Gerdeman:that's, if I can put in another plug for you your compacts, your vintage compacts that you do are so beautiful and make such a great gift. But. I have to tell you that I agree with you. I think people want things that are personal, something, made from the heart, something handmade is lovely and a really beautiful gesture. And I just think that we've gotten to the point now where we're so inundated with social media and we're so inundated with get this, buy this, pushing things on people. We share what we love. We share what we don't love because nobody owns us. No one's sponsoring us. So we just say what we like, what we don't like, and what works for us. Generally speaking, people need to take the time to slow down and not hit Cart purchase on every single, influencer that's out there telling us to purchase this. We're not influencers. We're content creators. We are podcasters. We're not here to influence anyone because I can't even get out of my own freaking way. So don't follow me because you're going nowhere if you do that. But I think you can take suggestions. You can take tips. You can take advice. I really truly believe that I hope women over 40 and men over 40 are getting more discerning with the Tik Toks and the Instagrams of the world and saying, that's nice. That looks great on that person. That's good for them. Do I need it? Do I want it? Is it going to change my life? If the answer is no, do something else with your money. Put it in the bank, give it to charity, whatever. I'm not going to be the moral police for the holidays, but you'd be surprised what you can do without. And then If there is something that you find interesting, you really love or you want to know more about it, tune into our podcast. We'll tell you all about it. We'll tell you if it's a product that's worth it or that you like it and take it from there. But that's what we want to do today is give some of these really quick and easy tips and know that you can go into your makeup drawer. You'd be surprised what you have in there. You don't necessarily have to run out and buy a whole new holiday makeup look. Or everything that's new, you can use what you have. And that's what we're doing. We're going to show you how to do your makeup in five minutes, from day to night, or just, when you want to go out, of things that we already have. There's nothing here that's new that I'm using. There's nothing here that's super trending right now. There are some great, fun things, especially if you're maybe a younger person and you want something fun, you want the glitter, you want the bells and whistles, you want the cute things, that's fine, but for those of us that are getting from point A to point B and trying to do it and stay alive at the same time, we're going to give you some tips today how to do that.
Hillary Clark Mina:I love it. I love it. And everyone has the things in your makeup kit And you've had them forever. I mean if I were to say, five Essentials that I would have I would encourage everyone to Look for a red or red adjacent, pardon me, I would have everyone look for a red or red adjacent lip that's going to work on your lips and your cheeks. Look for anything that is darker, sootier, smuttier, sluttier for the eyes. That could be a bronzy, a black, a gray, A pencil, a cream shadow, a shadow in a pan, a powder is going to last forever, that's going to go anywhere and everywhere. Then look for anything gold and silvery, champagne, shadow, cream, whatever. Those three things can make your skin sparkle, it gives you a little zhuzh for the holidays. And that's it. And I guarantee every single person has those. You don't need to go out and buy new stuff. No,
Susan Gerdeman:exactly. I believe in the same thing, a little highlight, a little lippy, and maybe something with the eye if you want it. I have on a little bit of concealer and a little bit of a blush, actually a new blush I'm trying. It's been around for a long time and I pulled the trigger on it. I always thought it was beautiful. It's the Kevin Aucoin. I don't know if you've seen this. Oh yeah, I love that one because it gives you peach to pink. Yeah, it's called Rose Cliff, the Neo Blush and it actually has your highlighter and your blush and like a contour blush all in one and then you swipe it together. I got it on a sample sale and I have to tell you, I had my eye on it for years and I never pulled the trigger. So I just have a little bit of that on as blush and a little bit of concealer and that's it. So that's like my day, right? And I put some lip balm on because I'm going to now toss on a red lip and I'm going to show you how you can go from really just having nothing on to just putting on a red lip and watch how we do it at the same
Hillary Clark Mina:time
Susan Gerdeman:go into holiday. It's so easy. Like a red lip just does it all, does it all.
Hillary Clark Mina:So for those of you that are thinking like, Ooh, I can't do a red lip. I don't want to do a red lip. It gets messy. It doesn't last. One of the most modern. One of those modern chic ways to wear a red lip is to have it be undefined. It doesn't have to be perfect.
Susan Gerdeman:No, God, no. If you have time to make a perfect red lip call me. Cause I got things that you can do for me.
Hillary Clark Mina:I've got things. I'm going to use a little something that's just this is a little ridiculous, but it was a gift for my birthday. Was it? It was. Can you imagine who? I can't. Who would love me enough to give me something that they know I would Never buy an Hermes lipstick for myself but not only that Because it's fun to treat your girlfriends to things that I think an Hermes Lipstick is a little ridiculous, but it's really fun to receive as a gift,
Susan Gerdeman:but they're really good. I have to tell you They're really
Hillary Clark Mina:good, it's really fun If you're gonna buy one lipstick That's it. What's really fun is that you chose a color, I would, you chose a red, I haven't worn since high school, and I forgot how much I like them. I don't know when I went off the orange reds, but I did. And I What's been, what's wrong with me? They're so pretty.
Susan Gerdeman:I have to tell you, I stare at your face often and I think sometimes we forget, and that's a great tip too. It really doesn't have anything to do with the holidays, but sometimes asking your friends or family or someone who's known you a long time, does this look good on me? What do you think about this? You'd be surprised having a different set of eyes. We've been in this industry our whole life, and this is all we do is color and beauty, but sometimes taking a step back and having someone else look at you, it's amazing what they see. And I just saw you in a very warm orange, warm, chilly, Beautiful, delicious red lip, but with some warmth to it. Because you have a gorgeous warm cast through your skin. You have the green eyes, and you have the warmth of your highlights. And I just thought, I never see her in anything this color. And I think it would be really beautiful on her. You gotta do things for your friends. I love it. And look at what I'm doing. And I have to tell you, the Hermes lipsticks, friends, are an investment. But if you say to yourself, should I buy 15 of X lipstick or should I buy one really great one in a color that I love? I have to tell you, they did a great job on the line of lipsticks. I don't love everything in the line, I'll be honest. And we could do a breakdown on it some other time. There's a few misses. but the lips are really good. The lips really
Hillary Clark Mina:pretty.
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah.
Hillary Clark Mina:I didn't care for the complexion, the tinted thing, moisturizer, skin thing.
Susan Gerdeman:No. No, and I don't love the blushes are too dry. I could go on and on with the things I don't like, but we don't want to be negative on a holiday show, but there's a lot in the Hermes line of beauty that is right. The lips, the nails, I have to tell you. Gorgeous and make cute little stocking stuffers too. And no, we're not sponsored by Hermes. I wish if anyone from Hermes is listening.
Hillary Clark Mina:I don't think they're going to sponsor us because I also started a ridiculous holiday list for us. And one of the things that I put on the ridiculous list, did you know that you can go and buy two nail files that say Hermes on them for 57?
Susan Gerdeman:Okay.
Hillary Clark Mina:So
Susan Gerdeman:again, Hermes, if you're listening, we love you come sponsor us. I'm just kidding. All right. So the lip I'm going to put on and show you how you can go from literally a little bit of blushing concealer. This is what I look like in the day run out the door. I'm going to show a difference in color too. I'm using a different red than you. I'm using a merit lipstick. It's newer brand. I like merit lips. I think they did a good job. I love their cream blushers as too. This color is called power and it is a very rich kind of. I'll put it on. Ooh, that's pretty. It's a true red. It is not warm, not cool. It's like a real classic neutral red. Did you hear that? That's like lipstick, lipstick voiceover there. That's what you sound like when you're putting lipstick on and talking, but it's a true. Classic red. It's not cool. It's not warm. It's just a real neutral. It almost has a 1950s feel. Yes, it does. It's, I love this color. I love this red. It goes, I could see this working on anybody truly just wants a good old plain red. There's no shimmer. It's creamy. It's not too shiny. And I have a trick for everybody. Always put a lip balm down first on your lips and then blot it off when doing a red lip. Trust us. It'll go on a lot better. And then after you put your red on, take your finger and it's messy, but just like Hillary's doing too, I go over it and I smudge the lipstick and instead of blotting, I like to smudge it. And, This just gives that kind of not perfect, I guess now they call it a French girl lip, but I think they mean is it's just a pretty pop of color. It just gives you not fussy.
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah, it's not fussy. And that's what I'm doing. I'm putting my money where my mouth is because I went from telling you guys that you have it and you own it. You don't need it to applying Hermes, which I get the disconnect, but it was a birthday gift. From my beloved pod partner. So yeah, look, you guys, everybody has a red cream blush or a red lip. I melted it, put it into a pan and here we go. And all I put in here just so people can see, and I intentionally mix this little center guy with my. Blush and with my bronzer This is just any old red you can put in here. This is a blotting balm So instead of a powder I use a blotting balm and I can blend it if I want more of a diffused blotting pink This is the chanel cream bronzer. Oh pretty. We love that and then
Susan Gerdeman:a
Hillary Clark Mina:little concealer a little eye sparkler and I made this really pretty gray It's like an eye soot. I need to make you one and send you, Susan, because I'm pretty proud of this formula. Oh, I like that.
Susan Gerdeman:So here I am. I didn't buy a thing. Yeah, exactly. You don't need to buy a thing. So here I am. This is probably What I would do for I have on a little, cozy little sweater, with a t shirt So if I get hot I can take it off I put on some holiday earrings and a red lip this for me would be holidays at home This would be a party with friends I'm done when I wear a red lip, I 99 percent of the time put nothing on my eyes. I like a little bit of a flush on the cheek and a red lip and nothing on my eyes. So that creates a balance and the red is enough, as we get older, we don't want to have too much happening in both areas. So I tend to pick, do I want to focus on the eyes? Do I want to focus on the lips? That being said, if you want to, you can always do a little flick on the eyes, which I can show you if you want. But I just love just a beautiful, what we call a nude or naked eye and red lip. It is the classic, beautiful fall, evening, winter. Summer with a tan holiday. It's just a beautiful look on honestly anybody. Then if I want to get fancy, I'm going to take my highlighter. I love the Westman Atelier. I do talk about them a lot. I know, but I do love the lit highlight stick. I like it because it has this beautiful, like a pinky purpley undertone to it. And it's a sheer highlight and I just love it on the brow bone and I love it on the cheek around the eye down the nose. I love this color because it just gives a very sheer, Highlight, but with no shimmer and no sparkle just a glow from within but it is a pink blue base So just be aware of that if you have a deeper skin tone
Hillary Clark Mina:Save it for evening. Don't do it during the day. It'll break down your it'll break down your spf
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah for evening.
Hillary Clark Mina:It's beautiful.
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah, but it definitely has a an undertone of a blue and a pink. So on a deeper skin tone, you're definitely gonna see that on a lighter skin tone, you're not gonna see that color as much. But I love it both ways. I'll be honest with you. Just know what you're getting with this product. It's a highlight that does that. Here's other highlights that ha that don't have that undertone. So if you don't want that, you don't have to have that. So that's it. A little highlight, a little lip. A little fun earring, a cozy sweater, and I don't know I'm on to the sofa for the holidays to be horizontal for a while. But if I want to add a little drama to the eye, say I wanted to do that, I would probably add a really pretty smoky pencil. I like the Urban Decay 24 7. I like it in a fun color like Rockstar. A little different than just a black. I Looks really fun. Looks really pretty. Of course, I love the Victoria Beckham pencils too. But then everybody was talking about the Fenty the black, the liquid pen. And I think
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah, what do
Susan Gerdeman:you think? Yeah, I have to tell you the tip on it is magnificent. I think it's really nice. I can put a little bit on if you want. Let me turn to magnifying side though. Otherwise, it'll just be bad for everybody. It has a really nice tip to it. I am not a huge liquid eyeliner person anymore. And I'm really not super interested in black anymore on my eyes. But if I'm gonna do it, I would just do a little bit in the outer corners to do a little fun lift. And it's probably something I would just do at night. But see, cute, right? It just, and I just do the outer corner with a little lift. It's not something I would be reaching for often just because it's not my look, but on the right person, I love a really heavy black liquid eyeliner on me. I just like it. on the outer corners for a little kick, just a little kick.
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah, I have a whole cheat strategy because my lip, my, I was spoiled by having, such almond shaped I guess they call them like fox eyes forever. And now they're, So I have all kinds of cheats for when I'm doing something like super black tie. Yeah. I employ my some of my 60s glamorama style.
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah, this is definitely more of a 60s kind of just putting it on the outer corners.
Hillary Clark Mina:Oh, Sophia Loren had some great tips that I start to employ and I love it. Love it. Yeah.
Susan Gerdeman:A little lift
Hillary Clark Mina:and then, and you don't have to be, you don't even, you don't have to be all that precise. There's something really lovely about it being unfussy. Like I just picked up with this little flat smudgy brush. I just picked up a little bit of this cream, like soot that I made. Yeah. And if you guys were watching earlier, I just. Wiggled it into my lash line to do like a liner and then Later, just to show you guys a difference, I just pulled it back across the lid. And if you're looking at me, it's Oh, she has something on and she made an effort and it's cool, but it's effortless. And I even took what was left over and never underestimate the leftover makeup on your brush. That's been worked into the bristles. It's going to be really light. I'm not one that really goes under my eyes with makeup ever, but now this case, I just took what was left over and I thought maybe why not?
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah. Sometimes I, I love a good smoky, messy, heavy eye. It's one of my favorite looks, but I would not do it with a red. It's too much for me. For someone else, they, they can rock that all
Hillary Clark Mina:they
Susan Gerdeman:want. I
Hillary Clark Mina:can do, I'll do it sometimes, but I'll only do it if my skin is super clean. Oh my God. Yes. Yeah. Cause no makeup on the skin really.
Susan Gerdeman:So I just did a little bit of the black. Can you see? Yes. On the corners. With a little lift, a little kick, and a little one coat of mascara on the top, and then the red. It doesn't look like there's a lot of eye makeup fighting with the red lip, but this definitely took it that one step more, glamor,
Hillary Clark Mina:glamor. So what is the, what's the moral of the story here, Susan, just reach into your bag, see what you've got and test drive things. Like test drive things. Like I'm going to the post office in the grocery store. Right now. Yeah,
Susan Gerdeman:got shit to do, Suze. Okay yeah, I should have worn this makeup to my mammogram.
Hillary Clark Mina:I, I don't know. But, I live in Los Angeles and sometimes, and especially my post office people know me. So she'll be like, what are you doing? Yeah, she'll be like, what's going on,
Susan Gerdeman:Bill? You look great. Oh my god, I should go pick up the kids from school like this. You should. I double dog dare you. Wait, do you love this? Yes. Yes. Look, okay, so now look, I put my hair up. Yeah, I think I was solving world peace over here. So I know I have my earrings and I have my little
Hillary Clark Mina:makeup. What do you think? I
Susan Gerdeman:think
Hillary Clark Mina:oh, I think you should I think you should flirt with your husband Send him a photo and just don't say anything. Just send him that what he would
Susan Gerdeman:say he would say who's this
Hillary Clark Mina:Why don't you say why don't you come home and find out big boy?
Susan Gerdeman:Oh my god Yeah, that's exactly what we're gonna why don't you
Hillary Clark Mina:take her to dinner and find out it looks like me
Susan Gerdeman:There you go. Yeah. Woohoo. Wait, and then I can take my little Yeah. Folder look. Yeah.
Hillary Clark Mina:Now I'm ready to, I dare you to,
Susan Gerdeman:I dare you. Flirt with your husband. Send it to him. Okay. We'll see what happens. He'll be too cold. I'll keep you posted, but yeah, this is, I, you know what? I'm gonna stay like this. So when the kids come home from school, yeah. They're gonna be like yeah. Hi. Where's
Hillary Clark Mina:mom? You want to know what your kids forget. Sometimes I think that sometimes your kids forget that like we were this before
Susan Gerdeman:you were their mom. Oh my God. We were this and so much more. But this is all we can share. That's all we can share. That's all we're sharing. That's all we're sharing. But yeah, for those who, watch us on our pod or listen to us and then watch us on our podcast. Here you go. Here's here's what we look like just hanging out at home. This is what we look like every day. No, not at all. But that's what the holidays are for. Toss up your hair, toss on a red lip, toss on something cozy and sexy and fun. Toss on the earrings you never wear anymore. Just, I don't know, shop your closet, shop your beauty, have something for yourself.
Hillary Clark Mina:Especially, you have to remember, we were alive in like the 90s and the early aughts. We had some of the best clothes. I still have them. I do too. I have pulled out a little corset vest. Like a like a little Vivian Westwood. Let's go. And I was like, Huh? What do you know? Who's that? A Mugler jacket I put on the other night. And I was like, this man ruled the runway for a reason.
Susan Gerdeman:And
Hillary Clark Mina:I'm telling you, I've been wearing all these things because I've had all kinds of stuff going on the past, ever since October, we've just had things going on. And I've been shopping my closet, wearing my 90s stuff. And I love it. And Pete, the whole room stops because they're not used to seeing structure silhouette. And quality.
Susan Gerdeman:And then
Hillary Clark Mina:unfussy makeup. Unfussy
Susan Gerdeman:makeup. Look at us. Where are we going? Let's go somewhere. I
Hillary Clark Mina:wish we were closer. We'd go get into trouble. We
Susan Gerdeman:just leave a note. A note on someone's windshield. No, a note for our families. Yeah, on my car windshield. Yeah, you just say, Hillary's driving. Hillary's driving. We'll be back. Hillary Clark Mina:deep. We have Dr. Anne. We have Dr. Perricone. There's something very special about self care. So we don't mean to diminish that, but you have to just have fun with it too.
Susan Gerdeman:You have to. Yeah. Listen, if you're not having fun, You're not living
Hillary Clark Mina:and feathers and be ridiculous. Oh, I'm going to my mom's for a few days and I'm going into her closet. I have to take a bunch of stuff. We exchange, every now and then. And so I'm going to go and pick up a bunch of my grandmother's stuff. And I'm bringing my mom some dresses that, I just am not going to wear. So I'm taking a whole, we're driving. So I'm taking a trunk full of sequins to the redhead. And I'm just coming back with her.
Susan Gerdeman:I love that sentence. A trunk full of sequins. That just makes me so happy. A trunk full of sequins. Why not?
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah, paillettes and beads and sequins and life is short where the sequins where I've done most of my 1950s filming and into some of the 60s and even some of the, yeah, some of the other period piece stuff that came my way last year and I'm like, I filmed in it. I don't need, and I've done the history on it. So I don't need it in my closet. And who's going to wear it? My mother will wear that. The woman has holiday parties. Lined up and she will wear the she will wear it. I love it
Susan Gerdeman:Happy holidays. Happy holidays
Hillary Clark Mina:people.
Susan Gerdeman:Yeah, enjoy be safe Be well be thoughtful be kind be funny Eat the cake Wear the sequins wear the red lip if you want or not just do you that's the freedom and that's the beauty of being older. Just be you. And if
Hillary Clark Mina:you're in the sweats, try a little lingerie underneath, see what happens. Why not?
Susan Gerdeman:Hil, you are really working that angle today, let me tell you. I love it. I know. Maybe I should think about that.
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah. Before
Susan Gerdeman:you speak.
Hillary Clark Mina:I'm just saying, burn the candles, eat from the dish, from the fancy chinaware. Perfume put on.'cause we all have that drawer and we never touch it. And it's like you have beautiful little bras and things that are so pretty and lacy and sometimes I just will throw one on with, cashmere sweatshirt. I'm like, huh, that was nice. Really, it's gonna see it.
Susan Gerdeman:That's right. Reclaim it. Again, that's the beauty of getting older. You just, you care about the important things. You don't care about the things that are no longer serving you. You really don't give a shit anymore. And that is the privilege and the pleasure of getting older.
Hillary Clark Mina:Happy holidays. That's our gift to you.
Susan Gerdeman:Now go put a bow on yourself.
Hillary Clark Mina:Yeah, go put a bow on it. My grandmother used to say, put a ruffle on it. That was always her saying, put a ruffle on it. Put a ruffle on it. I love
