Day 5: Maundy Thursday: The Last Supper and God's Faithfulness

Day 5: Maundy Thursday: The Last Supper and God's Faithfulness

with Dr. Jeff Warren and Taylor Lowrey

Jeremiah 31:31-34; Matthew 26:17-30

As we reflect on the profound significance of Maundy Thursday, we're invited to explore the beautiful connection between the Old and New Covenants. The Last Supper, far more than a simple Passover meal, becomes a pivotal moment where Jesus reframes the entire purpose of this ancient tradition. Through the bread and wine, Christ reveals Himself as the ultimate fulfillment of God's promise - the once-for-all Passover Lamb. This powerful symbolism reminds us that God's plan for our salvation has been consistent throughout history, always pointing to Jesus. As we struggle with our own shortcomings and moments of doubt, the Lord's Supper stands as a tangible reminder of Christ's sacrifice for us personally. It's an invitation to embrace the transformative power of God's grace and to live in the confidence that our standing with Him is secure.

Reflection:

  1. How does the concept of God writing His law on our hearts, as mentioned in Jeremiah 31:31-34, change our understanding of our relationship with Him?
  2. How does the Last Supper connect the old and new covenants, and what does this reveal about God's consistent plan for salvation throughout history?
  3. In what ways does the Lord's Supper serve as a tangible reminder of God's grace and forgiveness in our daily lives?

Been So Good

I call You faithful

For the promises You’ve kept

And every need You’ve met

Lord I’m so grateful

You were with me every step

And I never will forget

When I think of how You’ve blessed me

How Your hand has never let me go

Never let me go

You have been so good to me

God I can’t believe

How You love me

What a friend You have been

So good to me

God I can’t believe

How You love me

What a friend You have been

I call You Savior

For the blood that washed me clean

For the wrongs that You’ve redeemed

I know You’re able

And my eyes don’t have to see

One more reason to believe

Cause when I think of how You’ve blessed me

How Your hand has never let me go

Never let me go

For every morning

For every open door

I call You faithful

And I just wanna thank You Lord

For every mountain

For every time You brought me through

I call You faithful

I just wanna thank You Lord

For Your forgiveness

For how You never turned away

I call You faithful

And I just wanna thank You Lord

For Your salvation

You paid the price I couldn’t pay

I call You faithful

And I just wanna thank You Lord
