re:Invent 25 for Wireless Nerds: Free Burgers, Faster Satellites, And Wi‑Fi That Actually Works
Special edition! Cloud meets real‑world scale on the Las Vegas strip as we line up two big stories: Amazon Leo’s leap to gigabit‑class LEO connectivity and a live eero deployment inside the largest Five Guys in the franchise. We set the scene for reInvent, map out the sessions worth your time, and explain how these pieces fit into a resilient, transport‑agnostic network strategy you can actually deploy.
First, we break down why Amazon Leo’s enterprise preview matters for architects who live with last‑mile pain. With a new ultra antenna and speeds up to 1 Gbps down and 400 Mbps up, Leo changes the playbook for remote and distributed sites. We point you to session ARC320 with Leo principal solutions architect Nick Matthews for a deep dive on designing resilient global networks using LEO as a first‑class path, and we unpack how this affects SD‑WAN policies, latency budgets, and multi‑path failover.
Then we head to the Venetian and the Five Guys takeover, where eero powers every transaction, kiosk, and dashboard across more than 10,000 square feet. This live, high‑density environment doubles as a working lab: we’ll show a custom mini rack, demonstrate eero’s API integrations, and walk through how AWS Site‑to‑Site VPN with eero streamlines secure connectivity for remote sites and distributed workforces. Think ship‑and‑plug activation, policy‑driven control, and cloud‑level observability scaled across many locations without hand‑holding.
If you care about making networks simpler, faster, and more resilient—from rural branches to pop‑ups to busy QSRs—this is your field guide. Join us in Las Vegas, grab lunch during the Wednesday demo window, and see how LEO backhaul and eero at the edge turn the cloud into a practical, everyday platform. Subscribe, share with a teammate who owns branch networking, and leave a review to tell us what you want to see tested next.

All right, so coming up December 1st through 5th in Las Vegas, Nevada is AWS reInvent. Now, if you don't know what this is, this is one of Amazon's largest conferences in the United States. And this one is specifically focused on AWS. That's Amazon Web Services. That is the cloud. Everything that you imagine the cloud is, is happening at reInvent. And you know, I went for the first time a couple of years ago, not really knowing what to expect. My friend Sean told me that I should go because there's a whole bunch of free swag there. And there is, but that's not the main draw. This is the world of the cloud, if you will. This is everything that happens in and around AWS, things that are empowered by AWS, things that use AWS, so on and so forth. Now, obviously, I have a special interest in it this year. I've been working for Eero, which is an Amazon company for a little bit over a year now, and we've got some really cool things that we're showing off. So I'm so excited about it. I wanted to talk about it. This isn't a this isn't a paid sponsorship or anything. This is just me talking about the stuff that I get to mess with at work every day, and we get to show off. Now I want to talk about that. But first, I do also want to note that Project Kuiper, which is now known as Leo, so it's officially Amazon Leo, also has some sessions going on at reInvent. Now, there's not a lot of wireless talk at a cloud conference, as you can imagine. Not a lot of people are running around talking about Wi-Fi and all the things that it connects. But there are two things that I wanted to point out. And this first one is about Leo. So there is a session, ARC320, called Architecting Resilient Global Networks with Project Kuiper. Now, there's a guy speaking there named Nick Matthews, who's one of the principal solutions architects at Amazon Leo. And he's going to be talking about how the constellation transforms the way that people uh architect and connect globally. So it's not just about building small connectivity solutions, it's about how do you bring this in across the world. Now, this is of special interest, I think, because the announcement that came out yesterday, November 24th, is talking about how Leo is now the fastest satellite service, low Earth orbit satellite system that's out there. The press release says Amazon Leo debuts new gigabit speed ultra antenna begins enterprise preview. So the previews have started, it looks like. I don't have one yet, but when I have one, I'll let you all know for sure. But this is Enterprise Great Performance features and capabilities for private and public sector. This is doing one gigabit per second down and upload speeds up to 400 megabit per second. The new preview program will enable select enterprise customers to test out Amazon Leo services ahead of a wider rollout. Now there's about a little bit of you know more than 150 satellites in orbit right now, and they're continuing to launch and go up in the air. But this is a really, really cool thing for Leo. It's a great thing for the industry overall, and it's really going to push the boundaries for what low Earth orbiting satellites can do. So if you're going out to reinvent, make sure to look up session ARC320 or just look up Nick Matthews' name and see what he's doing. That session's taking place on Tuesday, December 2nd at 530 at Mandalay Bay. So if you're interested in it, that's a really cool thing. If you know any followers of the show know I love to talk about satellite. Now, the other thing that we're doing, and this is this is near and dear to my heart, is Eero is partnering with AWS to show off some really neat stuff. Eero is taking over the largest five guys restaurant in the franchise. It's over 10,000 square feet. You've heard me talk about it. 150 employees, six checkout stations, four kiosks, but now it's going to be the home of Eero for two days during AWS. So Tuesday and Wednesday, the second, December 2nd, December 3rd, we've got some meetings and some activities taking place there. But the big show is on Wednesday, December 3rd from 11 a.m. till 2 p.m. We're buying anyone who registers lunch. So you come in, you get a burger, you get some fries, milkshake, get a soda, and get to see what we're doing with Eero in that quick service restaurant or QSR space, specifically for fast food. So every bit, every bite, every piece of data that runs across that network at Five Guys is running across an Eero platform, which is really, really great. And we're going to show it off. I'm also showing off a really cool mini rack that I built that I'm very proud of. So my mini rack is going to be showing off not just connectivity using the Eero platform, but it's going to be showing off the way that APIs can be integrated with Eero. So come by and check that out. The big news that we're talking about, and there's a session on this as well. So Monday, December 1st, if you're attending AWS reInvent, simplify connectivity from remote sites updates and Eero integration. And what the description of this topic is is learn how AWS is simplifying enterprise connectivity for remote sites and distributed workforces. In this session, we're going to deep dive into latest innovations with AWS Sites Site VPN, showcasing how enterprises can establish and secure reliable connections from existing equipment like Eero. So there's a really cool integration that's taking place that I want if this is something that is of interest to you all, I would love for you all to come by and check out. We're going to show off the way that Eero integrates with AWS and it just makes everything as absolutely simple as it possibly could be. So if you're coming out to AWS reInvent next week, give me a buzz, drop me a DM, come by, come check it out, let me buy you a burger and see what we're up to. It's something, again, you know, I really don't talk a lot about the stuff that I do day in, day out, but I get to have a really great time working on with some incredible people on some fantastic products. And the team has put so much effort into this, you know, from the marketing side, from the design side, from the hardware side, the software side, the integration side, working with AWS. I mean, it's been really, really neat. So I'm very excited about it. Please, if you're if you're coming out there, drop me a message, let me know. And I hope to see you at AWS reInvent 25, December 1st through 5th in Las Vegas.
