Now here’s what’s terrifying: in some cities this number is nearly 15 times higher 😱 than our white counterparts. In New York, the state that I reside in, that number is up to 12 times more likely to happen.
💔This isn’t me overreacting—this is me STRESSING THE IMPORTANCE that this is a crisis!
💔What can we do with this information?
💔We have no choice but to save ourselves!
We have to learn more, absorb more information, share our resources and experiences and not back down. This change happens from the doctor’s office to legislation. We have to be adamant about raising our voices, holding the system accountable, pressing the issue until we see the change we need, and voting the right folks in place that can represent US when the LAWS are being MADE!
Most importantly, we must prioritize our health and wellbeing so that when medical emergencies arise, our bodies can withstand the fight we may have to put up to come home to our families. We deserve the right not only birth, but birth without BIAS and with joy and peace knowing that we will return home.
