So tell us a little bit about yourself. I know I read your bio here, but just a little bit, a little spurt to tell us about you.

Speaker 3:

I am a digital marketing strategist. I'm also a speaker as well. I help small, new and aspiring entrepreneurs who are looking to start their online business but they just don't know how. Maybe they have an idea, or they want to profit off of a knowledge or a skillset that they have and they have no idea how to monetize it, so I teach them how to do that, regardless. If you're wanting to start a course, Maybe you want to start a community, so I teach them how to do that, regardless. If you're wanting to start a course, maybe you want to start a community, maybe you want to sell digital products, or maybe you just want to know how to have that location, time and financial freedom by working for yourself by having an online business.

Speaker 3:

There are so many different strategies that I can share as well, but on the speaker side, my background is in news. I was a news producer for NBC and ABC affiliate stations and I've also transitioned to the film industry. I work behind the scenes on big, different studios such as Tyler Perry Studios, disney, amazon Studios and others, and I've taken my skill set. There's a lot of soft skills that are transferable that can really help people know how to navigate in fast-paced environments, how to thrive under pressure, and leadership skills, communication skills. So I'll speak to maybe corporations, or maybe to colleges schools basically helping those professionals, or maybe other leaders help them in terms of how to navigate personally and professionally in the area. So I do both as well.

Speaker 2:

You do a lot, girl. I tell you, listen, we got us a star here. This is what I was telling you. She has done so many things that actually is so inspiring to all of us here. We said we can't do things. Yes, we can. Look, I never thought I'd be doing this podcast right, but with Rachel, with all of the God, all the stuff that she's been doing, it's just a pleasure to have her on this podcast. We're going to actually learn a little bit about what she does. We know what she does, but how she got started with her creation of the Adorn Method? What inspired you to develop the Adorn Method?

Speaker 3:

The Adorn Method came out of frustration of me trying to figure out how to start an online business myself. I'm going to explain what the Adorn Method really is. It's just a five-step framework that helps anyone who's a new and aspiring entrepreneur get clarity on exactly who you are, what you're calling, what's your purpose and then what skill sets do you have so that you can turn that into a profitable online business. And also, too, let's just say, if you are not a person who wants to start an online business, it also still can help you in terms of who you are internally, so that maybe you're not trying to achieve, let's say, a career in entrepreneurship, but maybe you just want to excel yourself or get that promotion. The Adorn method is more so just it also can be a mindset shift that will help you understand how to get that promotion, because what you're really doing in marketing is really knowing how to communicate what you do as a solution to the problem that you're solving for someone else. You're finding your value, and so, when the way that I did that was, I was struggling in the beginning in entrepreneurship, trying to figure out what it is that I wanted to do.

Speaker 3:

I paid so much money to hire different mentors and everybody was teaching oh, you need to do this. But then you find out I didn't get the full picture. And then it was like, oh, you also are going to need to do this. So I hire someone else and go down this rabbit hole. Or maybe I'm on YouTube constantly doing analysis, paralysis, where you're just researching but not necessarily doing. And after all of that research, I finally figured it out, and that's when I created the Adore Method, which is that five-step framework that's going to give you that clarity understand your purpose and understand how to monetize it as well.

Speaker 2:

That's awesome. So, yeah, and let's talk about that adorn method. Let's talk about the step-by-step roadmap to find your niche and monetize what you know Talk about that. It's the A-D-O-R-N. What does all that mean?

Speaker 3:

A-D-O-R-N.

Speaker 3:

A stands for your assignment. I really strongly believe that all of us humans have an assignment here on this earth. We all have been called and uniquely created to have these special gifts, and the reason why I focus so much so on the assignment is how did God assign you at birth in terms of what are your spiritual gifts? So when I say that the reason why gifts are so important because in the Bible it says your gifts will make room for you and put you in front of great men. Once I started operating in my gifts, amazing opportunities started opening up for me. And I noticed that when I was 14 years old and I was operating in one of my biggest, strongest gifts, which is teaching.

Speaker 3:

So I was teaching at 14 years old at the Harbour Boys and Girls Club in St Louis, missouri that's where I'm from and as I was teaching, I was tutoring a student and a man was paying attention to me from behind and he came up to me and said wow, you're such an amazing teacher. I said thank you. He said would you like a job at the St Louis Science Center? So I had my first job at a science center, just from teaching. That opened up a door, but at the Science Center that had allowed me to study aviation and they had an exhibit on the Tuskegee Airmen and they chose me just because I was there to go to flight school. They wanted more Black people, young Black people, in aviation. So I got to meet the original Tuskegee Airmen. I got to learn how to fly a plane before I knew how to drive a car, and it was all through my spiritual gifts. And so I started young, realizing that I need to operate in my gifts. So that's why a assignment is number one. When you operate in your gifts, abundance will flow to you. So that's why you need to know who you are and what are your skill sets that come naturally to you that other people don't have, so that when you work and create a business, or maybe you go for that promotion, it's in alignment with who you are. And now you're not feeling drained in your work. You're actually doing it out of just what comes natural to you and is more enjoyable.

Speaker 3:

And then D stands for discover. We're going to discover. Okay, now that we know who you are, we need to discover. What is it that you really want right? And so we will work backwards.

Speaker 3:

You start from the end goal and discover exactly what it is that your goals are. And then we do, step-by-step, what are the steps to take to get there, and we have a. It's like a plan, a business plan in a sense, and then O stands for one step ahead, which really overcomes that imposter syndrome that a lot of people have, because you might say to yourself I'm not qualified to do this, oh, I don't know how to do that. And so, therefore, a lot of people get stuck and they never get started. So once I help them overcome that, by helping them see that they are one step ahead of someone else, they have the ability to teach or to monetize that particular thing that they know that somebody else doesn't have. So if you're one step ahead of something because you've accomplished something, we look at what have you done versus what have you not done, and then it makes the whole grand scheme of things feel obtainable.

Speaker 3:

And R stands for research. So you really have to do your market research, and that's what I do when I talk about market research. It's understanding who your audience is. What pain points do they have. So now, when we position you and communicate what you have to offer, we communicate it as a solution to your audience's problems, because people they are really looking for a solution to whatever it is that's paining them. So we have to see what is the reason why they need you. And so we do that research. We find people who are doing something similar, and then we also can look in reverse and say how can you do it better? What makes you unique, what makes you stand out? And then N is niching down, which basically is finding your specialty, because a lot of people they might feel like, oh, I want to do this and I want to do this and I want to do this. However, when you are you ever heard that saying I'm a jack of all trade and a master of none, but the.

Speaker 3:

Thing is this you can master a lot of things. However, when you have a specialty, when you niche down, you actually have a higher earning potential because those specialists are making way more money than a generalist. When you think about going to the doctor, when you have a back aid, you would go to a chiropractor. If you have a toothache you would go to a dentist. You wouldn't go to your primary care doctor for all of your ailments. You pay more for a specialist and that's how the mindset you have to have in terms of niching down, it really is positioning you to be able to have higher ticket services because you are a specialist in whatever industry that you choose to be in. And that is the adorn method and that is what's going to really help you be profitable in your business and as well as in your personal and professional life.

Speaker 2:

That's awesome. I tell you that's great. I'm going to listen to this again. Replay, because you really brought some great information for people to really think about as far as the adorn method. So let me ask you can you give us a real life example of how the adorn method has changed someone's life?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, absolutely. I would have to say. A lot of my clients have come to me not knowing. They know they wanted to do something, they just didn't know. They didn't know how to put it into words. So I had a client, I had a friend, her name is Centoria. She had no idea what she wanted to do me. She was in tears because she had a notebook of all of her hopes, her dreams, of what she aspired to do. But she was stuck for years because she didn't know how to do it.

Speaker 3:

And this is one of the biggest things. A lot of people they struggle because they say I don't know how. I think the question that you really need to ask is who does and who can help me? So when she came to me and I walked her through the Adorn Method on that same call, she had the clarity that she needed. She knew exactly what steps to take to get where she wanted to go.

Speaker 3:

Because when I tell you that there is the clarity is the new currency. When you are clear on what it is that you really want to do with your life, then all you have to do is take the steps to get there. But if you don't have clarity, you won't know where you're going. So the adorn method it really gives you that peace and that clarity. And I'm telling you she was crying happy tears because on just that one call she now had a roadmap to success, versus just winging it, and nobody wants to wing it because you won't find success. There's always blueprints to success, but we have to backtrack and do all the adorn methods so that you can first of all be fulfilled in what you're doing, and then by the end you're a specialist and now you have everything in between to get there.

Speaker 3:

I love it. Currency is the new. What'd you say? Clarity is the new currency.

Speaker 2:

Yes, when you are clear.

Speaker 3:

You will find some currency in that. Clarity is the new currency.

Speaker 2:

Yes, yes.

Speaker 3:

People don't pay when they're confused. A confused mind does buy, but when they're clear and they clear that you understand that you are the solution to their problem they're more likely to purchase from you.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely, absolutely. I love that. I love that. So what are some of the common misconceptions women or entrepreneurs have about their image of worth, and how do you help them overcome these?

Speaker 3:

I think it's the imposter syndrome, a lot of that. They don't feel qualified enough, they don't think they know enough. A lot of people have a lot of limiting beliefs in terms of self-esteem and identity. I think that's why I really dive deep into the assignment. I have a workbook for my clients that I take them through the adorn method and I have them do a spiritual gift test, because a lot of people have no idea what are their gifts. They don't even know what makes them special and then, once they start to learn how to operate in their gifts, they know how God uniquely created them. Then that shows them exactly, it gives them a sense of purpose that's what I can say Because now you have an identity that you agree with. That now you can thrive. And so once you have that identity shift and knowing who you are, I'm telling you, it makes an amazing difference and you start walking different. You start talking different, you're more confident because you know exactly who you are. You're not walking lost anymore.

Speaker 2:

It's amazing because actually IBM used to. When I worked at IBM they used to do that. We used to have to take this test as far as our character, as far as what we like, and it's amazing how you find out who you are. I say that does sound like a lot of, because I'm a caring person, I like to help people, but I love what you do. As far as what you do with that, having that vehicle to actually let people walk through it and see exactly it, surprises them to say I didn't know I could do that or I didn't think I couldn't do this. I remember my father saying can comes in, cannot comes in, can you can do this? Don't say I can't do this. And I always tell them don't say I can't. That word like right there, just yes, you can. And I teach our daughters because I always taught them, to be a leader, not a follower.

Speaker 2:

So, when you be a leader, you actually follow, and I'm so proud of both of them because they're both entrepreneurs, but anyway. So how does your work intersect with mental wellness, faith and personal healing?

Speaker 3:

What I do, when I really, when I think about mental health, again, it's that mindset shift. I think about the Bible. A lot of things that I do, everything really that I do is rooted in biblical faith. Right, so I have a. I'm rooted in biblical principles and so one of the things that come to mind is that be transformed by the renewing of your mind, and what that means is you cannot transform into anything until your mindset is re shifted to what it is that you are focusing on. So be careful, number one, about what you focus on. But secondly, in order to get to where you really want to go, you have to first believe and agree with the thing that you say you want. You have to become that first.

Speaker 3:

I don't know exactly where this came from, but there's a thing going on. It's called be do have, which. Basically, you have to first be come the thing and then, once you become it, you start doing it and eventually you start doing the thing. You eventually have the thing that you want. So it is a mindset shift that you have to have first and it's biblical. So I feel like that's a big principle to have is you have to transform your mindset first. So I'm really big on mental health and identity shifting, understanding who you are because you can't act. You have to act as if you don't have it currently. You won't ever have it until you start acting and doing the things to build the habits of who you say you want to become. You have to break those old habits and develop the new ones and create that lifestyle that you say you want.

Speaker 2:

I love it.

Speaker 3:

I love it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, because everything you're saying is so true. It's about the mindset, because a lot of our mindsets is God. There's so much that's going on in this world, and then that negative mindset actually pulls you back instead of the positive mindset. So, yeah, that really, and you really hit the nail on the head as far as the mindset.

Speaker 3:

People don't realize the situations they're in currently is because of the beliefs or the limiting beliefs they have, and you may not even realize the mindset is what is attracting those negative experiences in your life. But once you start focusing on the things that you say you want, you start entering new circles. Your friendships and the community that you are surrounding yourself will start to change and your language will start to change. The Bible even says bad company corrupts good character. So imagine if you surround yourself with people who you aspire to be like, you instantaneously and just subconsciously will become those things. So be careful what you agree with as well. I was reading a book called the Four Agreements. I can't remember who wrote it, but he did mention that be careful what you agree with, because if you agree with something negative and you speak it and agree with it, then it's almost like you're putting a curse on yourself. So don't agree with anything that's not in alignment with who you are or who you want to become.

Speaker 2:

Like manifest. You might manifest the positive of something instead of the negative, that energy. It depends on what energy you're putting out there. You want to put that part in and we get caught up into that. That's the humans, right, the energy that we put out. As far as the negative that follows you, Whereas you're going to say I'm going to have a good day today or something good is going to happen to me today I love Joe Oza, Joyce Meyer, Something good is going to happen to me today. That was always my favorite thing that I would say. And then things start happening. That's good for you.

Speaker 2:

So what else holds people back? What holds people?

Speaker 3:

back Again. I think it really stems from fear. If I had to say what's the root cause of everything, it's fear. It could be fear of the unknown. It could be fear that you're not good enough, fear that maybe they're going to talk bad about you, or what if it works? Or what if it works? Some people are afraid of success because now that means more responsibility. It's overall, it's fear, and once you learn to become fearless because we're not created to be fearful, we really aren't.

Speaker 3:

Fear is something that comes from experiences, maybe negative or trauma or so forth, and you have to learn that things that you are afraid of that can cause anxiety over your life. It has not even happened, right, Because your anxiety is you're afraid of something that potentially could happen and you make up all these ideas in your head, but it's the acronym that goes around, is false evidence appearing real, which is what EAR could stand for, Because a lot of times I have to have courage to go after things that I haven't done before in order to break through and become who I say I want to be, and the thing that I was quote unquote anxious about never happened, and if I had not gone through it then I would have never achieved the successes that I've had in my life. Because if I allow fear to stop me so fear of not knowing then stop saying I don't know. Say who does, and then surround yourself with them. And I think that's the biggest thing is don't allow fear to rob you of who you are supposed to be.

Speaker 2:

Exactly, and that is so true. That's funny I have on my computer anger is a camouflage to fear A lot of people get angry and that's just a camouflage that they're really scared to do it, so they take it out on other people, so that is yeah, I don't know, I had that on my computer. I said, okay, when did I write this? But it's so true. It is so true because fear is false, evidence superior, real, and it's about faith.

Speaker 2:

You have to fight to have the focus to have faith. Yeah, that that is something. So what should listeners do next? Let me go back here. So what else holds people back? And you talk about time, money, another external objective Tell us about that.

Speaker 3:

Say that question again. What's the question?

Speaker 2:

What else holds people back so?

Speaker 3:

I think we. I just answered, there was fear and then mindset.

Speaker 2:

OK, ok, ok, because you're going to talk about money and time and external objection.

Speaker 3:

When you say money and time, like they don't have.

Speaker 2:

They say that I don't say they don't have money, oh, let me OK.

Speaker 3:

So when it comes to if you't have, if you don't feel like you have money to do the thing, a lot of times you don't necessarily need money. Opportunities are created mostly through relationships. You need to. If you don't have money, you need to start building relationships with people, not necessarily to use people, but more so to learn and to help. And once you are a person of service, you will notice that a lot of the things that you say you want will start to be given back to you, like the law of reciprocity, like you have to give in order to receive.

Speaker 3:

So if you are a giver, if you have more time than you have money, you need to be a person who gives more, and you're going to notice. A lot of people start saying I remember when I was interning, when I was a news producer and I was just constantly helping out the reporters, the anchors and so forth, just being a sponge, and then they naturally said what do you want to do? And then they started helping me and then eventually I got hired at the news station because I was of service first. And that's what you do. If you don't have money, then you have to be a good, willing person and be of service.

Speaker 2:

Absolutely.

Speaker 3:

I think also too, when I think about marketing, because that's something I would love to talk about is for the entrepreneurs out there, or new and aspiring entrepreneurs. As a lot of people say, you have to have money to make money. I can say that is true, but there's a lot of things that you can do absolutely for free that you may not even realize. There's a scripture in the Bible thinking of this lady. She was a widow and she was in so much debt. If you are in debt right now, then this is for you, because she didn't realize the assets that she had in her own home. She went to a prophet and he asked her what do you have? And she said I don't have nothing. And he said and she thought about it and she realized she had some oil.

Speaker 3:

There are some things and assets in your home that are sitting idle. That might be your gifts, your talents. If you, let's say, you want to be a chef or you want to cook, but you have a kitchen and you're not cooking, you could sell plates, things that you already have. If you are, if you have knowledge in your head on something that you know that other people keep asking you about, you can turn that to a business for free. Start teaching people and that costs nothing, because social media is free to promote yourself and market yourself. Now how to do these things? I'm just giving you an idea of how you can take nothing and turn it into anything. You just have to know how to be creative, which is why I am a digital marketing strategist. I can help you understand what is it that you have that you may not even realize that you have, and turn that into something that you can profit off of, because you don't need to have the money. What you need to have is more valuable than money, which is your creativity.

Speaker 2:

Oh, absolutely.

Speaker 3:

And how to build those connections with people who you can serve and then also you will see them serving you.

Speaker 2:

Awesome. That really makes a lot of sense. But you know what? We don't have to have you back on this show, because we can talk more about a lot of stuff that you can teach us, and I really say education. If I say collaboration the keys it says but also education, educating people to know, and you just gave us some great tips and pointers here. So what should listeners do next to get in touch with you? Tell us how they can do that.

Speaker 3:

You. I would love, for actually, you know what I'm giving away to your audience. If you're interested in starting your own online business and you have no idea how to get started, and or maybe you have a business but you're not doing well in marketing, I can show you how to get started. Or maybe you have a business but you're not doing well in marketing, I can show you how to communicate or create an offer based off your skillset, turning into an online business, or maybe even create digital assets that would be perfect for you to expand your brand. Speaker 2:

Yes, listen, you are a wealth of knowledge, honey, and I tell you you'd be like a bonus for people to have you come speak, because you just really laid some great nuggets to all of us what you do and what you're doing, and we're going to be doing a webinar ourselves, right?

Speaker 3:

Yes, we are going to be doing a webinar, and that's going to be perfect for those new and aspiring entrepreneurs, so make sure you follow.
