Life has a way of testing whether we've laid the right foundations. When my husband Dennis was hospitalized with a dangerous infection spreading to his organs, the doctor asked for our advance directives. In that critical moment, I was profoundly grateful we had our legal affairs in order. But what about those who haven't taken these steps?

For 26 years, I've advocated for affordable legal protection through LegalShield, but this personal crisis crystallized why I do this work. Your will isn't just a document—it's your legal love letter to your family. It ensures your assets go where you want, protects your children, and prevents strangers from making decisions about your legacy. Most importantly, it gives peace of mind during life's most challenging moments.

Small business owners face unique vulnerabilities. Many avoid legal counsel due to cost concerns, leaving contracts unreviewed and compliance issues unaddressed. But protection doesn't have to be prohibitively expensive—for roughly $2 daily, entrepreneurs can access unlimited attorney consultation, document review, and essential legal services. This podcast explores how proper legal coverage transforms from luxury to necessity as your business grows. Want more information on our LegalShield Services, click on link to get started.

My journey from IBM corporate life to social work to entrepreneurship taught me that collaboration multiplies success. The Ready Set Collaborate podcast emerged from this belief, bringing together diverse voices to educate and empower. As I continue writing my fourth book on forgiveness, I've learned that releasing grudges—in business and life—creates space for greater blessings. Whether you're seeking legal protection, business growth strategies, or personal development insights, I invite you to subscribe, share, and join our collaborative community where protection empowers and connection creates opportunity. If you would like to be a sponsor to the Ready Set Collaborate, contact me to get your business visibility on our podcast for years to come.

Speaker 2

Welcome, welcome to the Ready Set. Collaborate with your host, Wanda Pearson. This is actually my podcast because I want to do an update on all the different guests that we had on here, but I want to talk about Wanda Pearson and why I started this podcast. So, first of all, Wanda Pearson is a speaker, author, business strategist and founder of WD Pearson Associates, With over 26 years of empowering families and small businesses through our services. Legally, I've seen firsthand how legal protection is more than a service. It's a strategy for success, not only for your families, but also for your business. So let's start off with my topic I'm going to talk about is the art of collaboration and coverage. Let me give you a brief bio of myself. Okay, so Wanda Pearson is a powerhouse speaker, author and a founder of WD Pearson Associates, with a background in social work and over 26 years in LegalShield, Wanda helps families and small business owners access affordable legal protection, while also mentoring others to walk in their purpose.

My Journey as Wanda Pearson

Speaker 2

I'm the author of God's Grace to the Fire, from Struggle to Triumph, and also a co-collaborative of Audacity to Shine and Impact of One Voice. I'm writing my fourth book now, which is called Forgiveness Walking in Freedom Through God's Grace. You're going to hear more about that towards the end of the year, which tells you about my journey of healing faith and helping others rise. I bring a warm, powerful peace to every conversation, rooted in grace, fear, with purpose, and always ready to uplift others. This is just a little bit about myself, but why I started this podcast. It's really been dear to my heart. It will be two years in November. I can't believe it, but I brought all of these wonderful guests on the Ready Set Collaborate podcast with Wanda Pearson to actually collaborate to make sure that we are actually getting educated and I am about an educator. So let's get ready, because collaboration is just not a conversation, it's a movement. So let's talk about why I started this.

Speaker 2

I started this because I wanted to have other entrepreneurs, and this actually was during COVID, when I had my own webinars and how I can bring other entrepreneurs to educate people, because you never know. I can bring other entrepreneurs to educate people because you never know If I can do this, if I can write a book, if I can do a podcast, if I can do a webinar, then you can too. So a lot of people say I want to write a book and they still have that book in the journal. Why not release that and get it into writing? So this is something that I said I would never do and God said, oh yes, you will. So I'm following God's plans and my favorite verse is Jeremiah 29, 11. God has plans for you, plans to prosper, to give you hope and a future. So my future is to leave a legacy, and that legacy has been to create this podcast, also to create a service that we provide, which is Legal Shield and ID Shield and Small Business.

Speaker 2

So I want to talk a little bit about the importance of having a will. Let's get into that Legal Shield part, especially for families and entrepreneurs. We work so hard for what we do and we don't want the state or anybody else to take over for what we have actually accomplished. But I want to talk about this because, actually, something dear to my heart happened with my husband, Dennis. But I want to tell you why you should have a will. You can be clear about who gets your assets right. You say, well, I don't have an asset, I don't have anything. Yes, you do, you do.

Speaker 2

So what I experienced with Dennis he had a scare and he was in the hospital for over a week with an infection and that infection was actually beginning to seep into his organs. We got him there just in time and when the doctor asked us for do we have advanced directive? Me and my daughter looked at each other and said what do we need that for, Not knowing that it was serious. This was serious. We were happy that we did have that will in place estate planning so you need to make sure you have your stuff in order and that's your legal love letter. This is something very powerful. So also, you can keep your assets out of the hands of people you don't want to have them like an estranged relative. You can identify who should care for your children or your business. Your heirs will have a fast and easy time getting access to your assets. And you need a healthcare power of attorney, which is what Dennis and I had in our estate planning. So thank God, we had that and, like I said, you need to have advanced director whenever you have a medical procedure, and that's what was happening with him in the hospital. So, thank God, for all the prayers that we had, he is now on the way to recovery. We just had a doctor's appointment. Now we have to see a cardiologist tomorrow. So this is how serious it is.

Small Business Protection Services

Speaker 2

So, people, I started Legal Shield. We started 26 years ago, but when I left IBM after 36 years, I knew I had to get in the community with my social work to let people know that it is important to make sure you protect protect what you work so hard for. Legal shield is there for you and having our having what we do and begin its community, it really does help to have everything in order. So let me ask you Some questions. Do you want a probate judge to divvy up your assets randomly? No. Do you want a CPS social worker to determine who gets to raise your children? No. Or who takes your business? Do you want to give the IRS a blank check to your estate? No. These are just some of the questions that we ask ourselves, but let's talk about what it can do. Have you ever thought about writing or revising your will? Purchased a home, had an income tax question, Lost your rental deposit? Then refused a refund for a defective or damaged product or service, Paid a bill you knew was unfair? This is what actually happened with I'm going to talk about identity theft as far as with that Received a moving traffic violation you thought was unjustified. You were a defendant in a civil lawsuit. You were involved in separation or divorce, had a problem with child support, visitation rights, signed a legally binding document and been sorry later, wanted advice on a credit matter, worried about being audited by IRS. These are just some of the things. Have you ever All of these things that I just mentioned here this is what's included in our service has been a legal shield, D shield in small business?

Speaker 2

So definitely let's talk about that, get into that. But 26 years being in the business has been something that Dennis and I thought when we first signed up for this service was so important and it really helps me to empower families and small businesses through our services. I've been. I've seen it firsthand how legal protection is more than the service is a strategy for success. So let's talk about collaboration and coverage and I was talking about the coverage because that's been so important. But collaboration is also us working to make sure that we're working together as a business, and all of the different that I had on the show were collaborative guests. Check out the Ready Set Collaborate podcast with Wanda Pearson. My podcast is on every podcast platform Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeartRadio, Audible. Those are just a few. So check those out and look at some of those things.

Speaker 2

I mentioned the years with Legal Shield and ID Shield 26 years and how passionate I am as far as a social worker. It was easy for me to get out in the community because, doing mentoring with the middle school girls, I always wanted to be a social worker. So when I left corporate, this is something that I wanted to do. What I want to share is the breakthrough that illustrates the power of legal protections wanted to do. What I want to share is the breakthrough that illustrates the power of legal protections.

Speaker 2

Having that story that I just told about Dennis is important about the world, but also having an attorney, because I'm going to tell you what I used to say I'm going to call my lawyer on you. You ever thought about that. I always said that, and then I said I don't have no lawyer. Well, when we first got the service, we said, okay, we're going to call our lawyer and pick up the phone where you can actually have access, unlimited access to an attorney. That is so important.

Speaker 2

Now let's talk about small business protection contracts, compliance, identity theft. Small businesses face these issues every day, but a lot of small businesses don't call an attorney because they can't afford it every day. But a lot of small businesses don't call an attorney because they can't afford it. This is why we have this service to make sure it is affordable for $2 a day but the family is $1.25 a day we can help small businesses stay protected and how it can save you money as far as being able to have that access to an attorney. So this is actually something that I wanted to bring up. As far as what I do I never really talk about that when I have my podcast on something that I wanted to bring up as far as what I do, I never really talk about that when I have my podcast on but I wanted to actually bring our services in here. But also, with our services, we can actually help you make sure your business, your family, is protected, and that is your legacy, that is your legal love letter. So let's get you protected by LegalShield. So I just want to give you a little bit about that here. We want to talk about. Let's see, let's talk about how I started this podcast.

Finding Balance and Forgiveness

Speaker 2

This podcast was actually something that somebody told me Wanda, you should do a podcast. I said no, I don't want to do a podcast. But God said oh yes, you are Like. I said never, say never, because God has a plan for you. He definitely has a sense of humor, let's put it that way.

Speaker 2

So one pivotal moment for me came when I shared my story at an event. A woman came up to me in tears and said you told my story. I didn't think anyone understood it. That changed everything. I realized that my business wasn't just about services, it was about healing, connection and purpose. It gave me the courage to drive deeper into writing my books and lead from a place of authenticity God. I'm from Chicago, so a lot of things come out different area. So, having that the willpower to do this, to share not only our services but also to share on podcasts with my guests, I wanted to come out and share through my books, through my podcast, through speaking as a speaker, to be able to let people know that this is something that I have a passion in doing. So the biggest roadblock that was trying to, that was blocking me, was myself. I wore every hat, hustled hard and hit burnout more than once. Oh my God, we don't have burnout when you're an entrepreneur in your own business. I had to learn that asking for help, building the right team and letting others carry the vision with me was a key to growth. Once I released that control, the doors to my next level opened. I had to actually get my team, which is my website designer, my marketing agent, my administrator, my VA, all of those on my team and that's what helped me to move forward, to do what I had to do, to get to this point.

Speaker 2

It takes work, it takes time, but at the same time, I'm happy that I've accomplished what I have accomplished. When I'm not working, what do I do? I love dancing gospel music in my kitchen, sipping tea like a five-star spy, getting my nails done, getting my hair done and catching up with friends who feed my soul. I love pouring into others, but I've also learned that unplugging is sacred. Sometimes that looks like a walk with God a good book or just burning off, or turning off my phone and saying not today's stress, rest is part of the assignment. So these are some of the things that I do to unwind. And you can do the same thing Helping others, doing my podcast, writing my books and, like I said, I'm writing my book Forgiveness, and that's another big thing that actually we're going to talk about on one of my podcasts.

Speaker 2

Walking in freedom through God's grace is something that we all go through. So not only that, but also forgiveness in your business, A lot of things we hold grudges to. Let's let it go. Let's be able to release anything that's holding us back, because you know what, Once you forgive God, forgave us. That's where your blessings come into play.

Closing Thoughts and Call to Action

Speaker 2
