Biruk VanderStroet
Biruk VanderStroet was 8 years old when he was adopted from Ethiopia and moved to North West Iowa. Growing up on the streets and begging for food was Biruk's way of life before his adoption. Shortly after arriving in the United States Biruk ask his new dad if he could raise chickens because he knew they laid eggs and he wanted to sell them and send the proceeds back to his village in Ethiopia. 11 years later Biruk's Egg Project is still going strong and changing lives in his birth town.
