The Diary of Real Britain
I'm a 57 Year old Disabled man. I have worked for 37.5 continuous years. This Podcast Chronicles the struggles I have while making the journey of life. From putting food on the table to looking after the car and cat. From doing the shopping and going to work. From going to the gym and socialising. And carrying out my political activism. I then keep the Diary of Real Britain to tell people of this journey. To tell them of the Britain I live in.
The Diary of Real Britain
Episode 54 Monday 13th January
Monday. For six years my wife has never been to the doctors due to her mental health. But today was the first time she visits. Since she was in hospital things have been much better. I'm full of hope that this continues. Tuesday. Its back to work but its much milder. Christmas in Cambridge has gone leaving a very muddy patch on Parkers Piece. Wednesday. Same as yesterday a very quiet day. The traffic though is horrific as it takes me 1hr and 10 mins to travel the 7 miles to work. And then the same on the way home from work. Thursday. Its still a sticky journey into work. But the day is very quiet. Friday. Its the last working day of the week. Its a normal day up until 9.30. At that time I look at my phone and I find a text from my sister-in-law. My father-in-law has been unwell for many months and the text said that he had passed away peacefully to rest on tuesday. Other than that it was a quiet day and at 5pm it was time for home. I hand in the keys and head for home. Saturday. Today should have been Community litterpick day and Gym. But my wife was not well enough to be left alone so I stayed with her. Sunday. I had to go and do the weekly shop and then home. I then helped cook Sunday roast.
