SPEAKER_00

Well, it's been a long time coming, but finally we held our first eBay live shows. But was it worth the wait? My name's Chris, aka Carboot Chris, and I'm a full-time UK online reseller. I operate mainly on eBay, but also on vintage and whatnot. I'm bringing you regular podcasts all about reselling with a bit of fun thrown in too. Hopefully to keep you company to entertain you and maybe a little bit of education. Who knows? Welcome to the Everything Reselling Podcast.

SPEAKER_01

Hey, welcome everybody. Welcome back. It's a good job it didn't come on then. I forgot that we were waiting for people to come in, and I've just said to Chris with this bottle into easy when you just rab it and suck.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Allegedly. Some would know, some would not.

SPEAKER_01

I literally completely forgot we were waiting to go live.

SPEAKER_00

How can you forget? I just did my intro.

SPEAKER_01

Because that's my brain. Within a split second, it's it's off with the fairies. But hi.

SPEAKER_00

Hi everybody. Welcome back to Monday night. It's another podcast. And uh welcome. If you're listening, thank you very much for listening along, whether you're in your car, whether you're working, whether you're listing.

SPEAKER_01

In Jamaica, we've had one of them.

SPEAKER_00

On holiday at the beach next to the pool, or wherever you are listening, thank you very much for listening. And if you're watching here on YouTube, thank you. There's lots of people in the chat I can see. And we're gonna say hello to as many people as possible in a minute. Bell will do her hellos. But yeah, thank you all for coming. For those who don't know, maybe first time here, maybe you've found us from the podcast, from the audio channels. I'm Carboot Chris, I'm a full-time reseller, buy and sell stuff, flip it online for a profit. That's what I do. That's become like my thing that I just reel off now. I just reel that off every time I do a video.

SPEAKER_01

And she's got a real job.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and Belle, she does have a real job. Uh, but she sells one or two bits herself of her own stuff over on vintage mostly. But just a few bits here and there.

SPEAKER_01

Sold some crotchless tights today.

SPEAKER_00

Lovely.

SPEAKER_01

We just never know. Not asking too many questions on where they're going.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Don't want to know.

SPEAKER_00

Have you had any dodgy messages about them? Like, can you can you wear them before you send them?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

Are you sure?

SPEAKER_01

I'm positive. Are you sure? I'm positive.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, if you did, I'd want to at least double the price on them before you send them. If you want me to wear them, you want me to rub them up and down my crotch?

SPEAKER_01

There's no crotch in them.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, they're crotchless.

SPEAKER_01

That's the whole point.

SPEAKER_00

What could you do with them then?

SPEAKER_01

They don't need to do anything with them. We're going to pack them now. I'm trying to make her some more money. Well, I don't want any more money. Thank you very much. Oh, God.

SPEAKER_00

Hard work, aren't you?

SPEAKER_01

Look, how many how many minutes are we in and you've taken it to the gutter?

SPEAKER_00

I know. I know. Well, anyway, anyway, Belle's gonna say hello to as many people as possible. So get your hellos in, please. It's really great if you can be interactive on our show so that we can read out comments and stuff. So we appreciate all your comments. I will try and highlight as many as we can during tonight's show. We're gonna be talking all about eBay Live, how it went, stuff like that, what was it like compared to whatnot? So stay tuned for all that stuff. And but here we go, Belle. You ready? Here we go.

SPEAKER_01

Are we going? Yeah. Uh so I've got Angel Delight, Kevin Hawthorne, Kavallis, Jeff Davis, um, Fixit Freeder, hi mother-in-law, uh, Ian G, Lucy's car boot sail loot, Mark Hillm, Deborah Sardy, uh, Linley Jeffries, Karen Evans, Wind Pilot, Helen Graham, Carolina Claws, See What You Buy, El Raventa, Packet Boy, Agent 24810, uh Mersey Gateway Bridge, Richard Payne, Dan, Carol Harris, Bebo, um, Rosie Marsden, Sharon Island, Al Knacks. I can never say that one. Frey Frey Andy Benzos, uh, Rachel Fantastic, Lime Light Vincey, John Parker, Woo-woo, Woo-woo! Hello, Woo-woo. Chris Tyler, Fluffy the Muffin, James.

SPEAKER_02

That's it, minute up.

SPEAKER_01

Tracy Davis. I'm almost at the bottom. Lisa, she said, Life of Lana or Life of Flaner, and Colin Lingus.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's it.

SPEAKER_01

There we go.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, she went over. She went over the minute.

SPEAKER_01

Ah well. Wasn't stopping that's so close to the bottom.

SPEAKER_00

I did notice, by the way, that Jeff is here in all four or five guises that you know, old Theresa.

SPEAKER_01

He's making up for missing his first one last week.

SPEAKER_00

She is Merseigate Bridge, Carolina Claws, Jeff, the tax man. Who else? Is that all of them? Many, many more. He's coming all these different. He's given us extra. Uncle Albert. Uncle Albert, he's coming, he's given us five extra views. Bless him. Sammy Valentino's just popped in as well. Welcome to you. Silence. You can't have silence, it's a podcast. Well, keep talking then. Oh, bloody hell. Um, was there any comments we need to highlight before we continue?

SPEAKER_01

I'm just going to go. Oh, there you go.

SPEAKER_00

Jeff says you've got seven accounts. Seven accounts. Jeff, come on. Come on.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Lucy says we'll have to watch the replay Need an Early Night as going to volunteer at the charity shop again tomorrow.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah. Lucy volunteers and she gets first pick of all the toys.

SPEAKER_01

At the moment, I feel like I'm doing four jobs eBay, YouTube, charity shopping, caring for my mum. Well, they're all worthwhile jobs. So good luck.

SPEAKER_00

Lizzie Scotty Dogcrafts is in. Now, Lizzie Scotty, did you buy from us at the weekend?

SPEAKER_01

That's kind of it can't be a coincidence that.

SPEAKER_00

I think Lizzie did because I remember the name popping up a few times.

SPEAKER_01

Well done, Angel Delight. Your daughter is doing her tenth blood donation at the moment. So yeah. Well done on that one.

SPEAKER_00

She'll be all out of blood soon.

SPEAKER_01

Deborah Sardine is back from her lovely Disneyland trip. And I will say, Debs, I'm gonna send you much love because I know on your return you've had some really, really, really, really rubbish news. So yeah, sending you much love and hope you're getting it all sorted.

SPEAKER_00

Talking of rubbish news, I think we'll send our condolences to Peter Ray and his family. Yes, he did put it out on social media that his dad has unfortunately passed away recently. So we're sending our best to Peter Ray if you're watching, if you're not, no problem. Yeah, but yeah, I'm sure everybody else in the chat will as well.

SPEAKER_01

Sending lots of love to you and all the family.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, definitely. It's it's not a nice time at all. Remember when my dad passed away, was it 2017? 2017, my dad went. It's horrific, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

It's horrific when anybody dies. But yeah, I think there's that that has a little bit of an edge to it when it's a parent.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Linlin's been out for lunch with five old school friends, 1978. Yes, I am really old.

SPEAKER_00

Dear hell. I was born in 78.

SPEAKER_01

I was waiting for you to say that.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Woo Woo said, I do usually watch, but on replay.

SPEAKER_01

Oh that's okay. That's okay. We missed you.

SPEAKER_00

That's oh, Lin Lynn also says, please for my bestie who passed away on Saturday.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, so sorry about that, Lin's uh Lin Lynn. Sorry to who sending love and hugs to you all on that one.

SPEAKER_00

Tracy says Jeff felt so guilty for missing last week, but it was a good cause. He took me to physical therapy, he's a real teddy bear. Don't let him know that.

SPEAKER_01

I know Tracy, and sending love to you, Tracy, because Tracy's had another shoulder up, so she's in recovery. Everybody's got stuff going on at the minute, haven't they? While we're talking about while we're talking about stuff going on for the first time in a long time, it feels like, we actually have a positive update. And I know a lot of people, if you've got us on social media, you know already will already know about this. But for those of you that don't and have been following my journey since I got diagnosed with breast cancer in December, um, we finally, finally got some good news last week. And the last operation I had has got rid of all the rest of the cancer cells that were in there, so there's no more cancer cells, it was all clear, and I don't need chemotherapy, I just need a a course of radiotherapy and then some hormone treatment. So finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel on this really crappy journey that we've been on since December.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty much the first bit of real good news on that since it started because we've been hanging on for what seems like ages for different bits of news and updates. It's never been what we've wanted, and it's always been pretty bad, but that's that was amazing news. That was really great news.

SPEAKER_01

There was happy tears for a change instead of sad tears. So yeah, we've still got we've still got a journey to get through, but it looks like we're over the worst of it now, and we can see light at the end of the tunnel.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, so it's fantastic news for a change. And then on the back side of that, we've got to take cookie in this week to have a camera down her throat. So watch this space.

SPEAKER_00

A bronchoscopy on Wednesday. She's having a camera down and a few other tests. Just see if we can get to the bottom of this cough because it's it's actually getting, it's probably getting worse now.

SPEAKER_01

Picked up again.

SPEAKER_00

These expensive pills she's on at the minute. I'm doing nothing. Not paying, I'm not paying for the next lot, they're doing absolutely nothing now. Not paying for the next lot.

SPEAKER_01

Uh so yeah, so lots of ups and downs. And then I suppose the final news is I actually go back to work this week after nearly three months off. I had a chat with my boss this morning, and this is my old job with Devon and Cornwall. I'm gonna go back on a phase return with them, which will only be for six weeks because I start my new job on the 11th of May. So lots of things happening in the next few weeks, but they're actually positive things. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

There you go, there's the update. Good news all around. But I know there's some other bad news that people haven't as well, so sending our best for those.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Jay says, first time watching live. Welcome to Jay.

SPEAKER_01

Thank you for joining us.

SPEAKER_00

Lizzie says, Oh, Lizzie, it was Lizzie who bought stuff on eBay Live. I can't believe how faster time goes by watching eBay live. Two hours seems like five minutes.

SPEAKER_01

To be fair, it did go pretty much. I think we we could have done longer. We were trying to keep it to a reasonable length of time, but we could have easily just carried on.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, don't we? We could have done. But I think two hours is quite a good length of time to do a show for us as presenters and organisers as well as people watching.

SPEAKER_01

And you know, it's it's a lot. It's for you guys, it's two hours. For Chris, it's the setup beforehand, the two hours of a show, and then the aftermath of packing. So there's a lot involved.

SPEAKER_00

You don't appreciate you know how much is involved in setting up a live show, whether it be on whatnot, till, or eBay live. It's all very similar before, during, and after. It's a lot of work, but we'll go into that in just a few minutes because we'll we will start talking about our eBay live experience just in a minute. Let's just get to the bottom of the chat. And Jay says, always listen on Spotify. Feels weird finally watching it live.

SPEAKER_01

Putting faces to the games.

SPEAKER_00

Brilliant. There's a whole idea. I really want people to come over and join us from the audio channels, as well as the other way. If you watch on YouTube, feel free to try and listen to us over on uh Apple Music or whatever, and let us know how it feels. Like, is it different? Is it better? Is it worse? Jay, what's your experience? Like, I'm always intrigued to hear like, does this show on a Monday night work for you as a listener on Spotify? Let me know like how you feel about it and what brought you to come and watch live here on YouTube tonight. Like, it's it's really valuable feedback, and it it kind of shapes how we go forward with it. Thank you for all the well-wishing news and stuff coming through. Thank you, everyone. Lots of good news, excellent. Yeah, thank you all. Yep, deserves some good news. Rachel says, I finally feel like a normal human after having my biopsy.

SPEAKER_01

You've had a biopsy as well, have you, Rachel? Is that for is that for the same as what I've had? If it is, then yeah, if it is, then we're sending lots of love your way because we know how nerve-wracking that that point is, definitely. Out of all of it, that that's probably the worst.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I really don't envy you if you're going through a similar thing.

SPEAKER_00

Dungeons and Joypads, welcome. Uh, hope your eyes went well over the weekend, Chris. We're gonna talk about it in a minute, so stick around if you've got time. We will talk about it. And you can put your two pennies worth in as well, because obviously Dungeons and Joypads is on eBay Live as well. Demise Family is in is also on eBay Live. Anyone else who has experience of eBay Live, and we've only done two shows, so anyone else in the chat who's who's already on there, feel free to chip in when we're talking about it because I've got questions. I've got questions, lots of them, and comments and thoughts. Yeah. Yeah, good news, good news. Thank you, everybody.

SPEAKER_01

It's it is brilliant news, it's fantastic. We finally don't feel like our house our house, our life is going to be on hold.

SPEAKER_00

Everything was on hold, wasn't it? Yeah, it really wasn't.

SPEAKER_01

We couldn't forward plan anything.

SPEAKER_00

We couldn't plan anything, but um yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And you will all know, if you've been following us for a while, how much we love our holidays, and by now we would have at least had one between December and now, but we haven't been able to think or plan anything. And I think we're desperately in need of some sunshine, aren't we?

SPEAKER_00

I know. Is that your hint?

SPEAKER_01

It needs to be on the cards very, very soon.

SPEAKER_00

I've been thinking about it.

SPEAKER_01

We still it's still like that, isn't it? Because I've still got treatment, I've still got stuff to get on, and I've got a new job to start.

SPEAKER_00

But I think once you obviously once you get your radio therapy out of the way, then we can perhaps think about it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Anyway, let's move on. Oh, Dungeons and Joy Pad says, yes, I'm tuning in. Thought I'd see how you got on. I have a 10K, a 10k blowout show this Friday for eBay. Oh, it's eBay live day, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Oh, Night's Life has joined us from Venice. Oh, bloody hell. Do you know? I said to Christian when he was reading out um this the stats of where everybody listens from, I said it's probably people who follow us on a regular basis or on holiday. On holiday.

SPEAKER_00

Don't spoil it.

SPEAKER_01

That's why we're getting it from Jamaica and Italy.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Rachel said no was my cervix and had a bit of a complication afterwards.

SPEAKER_01

Ah, right, okay.

SPEAKER_00

My result came out no cancer, but had pre-cancerous cells, so I have to have it done again after a year. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay. Okay, well, at least you're on the ball. Yeah, that's it. Don't drop the ball with these things. If it's anything I can say to anybody, it is any doubt, get it checked out. Oh, that's that rhymes. That's good, that. Any doubt, get it checked out.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it could be the next TV ad.

SPEAKER_01

That's my slogan now.

SPEAKER_00

Jay said it works well on Spotify. Normally I'm busy on a Monday. That's the only reason I have time for YouTube. It's a great podcast, it comes across well. Oh, thank you, Jay. That's really good to know that you know you can listen to it. Because we we waffle a lot for about 15 minutes before we actually get into it. So I hope it's not too waffly.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but this is pick pick a lot. Some people come for the waffle. Some people come for the waffle. Jeff says he missed Sunday's eBay live. Oh my god, Jeff.

SPEAKER_00

No.

SPEAKER_01

What are you doing?

SPEAKER_00

Not on the ball at all.

SPEAKER_01

He said the don't we fake notification came after it was over.

SPEAKER_00

But if you follow us on on all the on all the uh like Instagram and Facebook and that, you'd have seen all the all the all the adverts, Jeff. I mean, you're not on the ball at the moment, are you? What's going on? It's because he's getting up to retirement, he's just don't give a crap anymore, doesn't he?

SPEAKER_01

Kicking his feet up and just.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he's just thinking, I'm gonna be retired soon. Who cares? You know.

SPEAKER_01

You know we're only kidding, Jeff. We love the support you have given us like pure dedication for years. Right, shall we shall we talk about eBay Live?

SPEAKER_00

We ready? Are we ready? Are you happy? I'm at the bottom of the chat, so I'm ready to go. eBay Live. So finally, after waiting three months since the onboarding that I had, I was onboarded and ready to go before Christmas, right? 2025. And there was some complications because I wanted the contract changing. I wasn't happy with being given one tiny little category that was just useless for me. I think they gave me the category action figures bobbleheads. So basically it covered it covered Funko's, and I'm I I sell Funko's, but I'm not as Funko as Funko seller per se. I just sell them as part of everything else that I sell. So I they agreed they were going to change the contract three months later, after many, many emails and phone calls. I was still waiting for it. And finally, last week, we onboarded, we did a refresher, we signed the contracts, and then on Saturday we did our first eBay live, didn't we?

SPEAKER_01

We did.

SPEAKER_00

Belle was there, she was doing the like the techie side, doing all the all the auction starts and everything.

SPEAKER_01

I was doing the tech, the chat, and the bagging.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

What was Chris doing?

SPEAKER_00

I offered you. I offered you to do the presenting.

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm good.

SPEAKER_00

You don't want to do it. You are gonna do it soon now, I'm telling you now. So yeah, first show. What what was your oh what was your initial impression?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know really how to sort of structure this chat, but I thought we did the first show was really good because believe it or not, Chris was so nervous. I was very nervous. He was really, really nervous, and he was doing that. Oh my god, what if nobody comes in? Da da da da. And as soon as we went live, we just got a flood of people coming in. And I know a part of that was got was you guys from YouTube wanting to come and support us and stuff, but it made such a difference to the beginning of that first show to just have people in and to see the you know, we had I think at one point when we first started, we had about 80 people in.

SPEAKER_00

60 was the highest.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, was it 60? I think it's a good one.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I've seen the stats for it.

SPEAKER_01

Right, 60. 60 was the peak. So that was really good because it just gave you that little boost of confidence, like, all right, we've got people, we can start this. And yeah, we had a couple of little hiccups at the beginning, mainly from my side, getting used to the layout because I'd literally had 15-minute low down before we started teaching me how to do it.

SPEAKER_00

We gave her a training session. It was very easy to actually sort of show Belle what to do on the back end, that's what she says. But yeah, it wasn't difficult, really, was it, from your part to do it? Because you're used to whatnot, so it's a very similar back end and also learner. She's a fast learner, she's a fast learner, it it wasn't difficult, and I'm a good teacher.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there was a couple of little hiccups where I was reading the wrong things and stuff like that, but that was my bad because what I tried to do is I used to have my phone open as well, so that I could see what everybody else was seeing, and by doing that, I was confusing myself by looking at the phone and not looking at my screen. So that was a learning curve for me because I actually, because I shouted I I gave somebody the wrong name, didn't I? Who I thought had won and stuff like that to begin with. But I think it was only a couple of little little hiccups at the beginning. It was the major, wasn't it? Yeah, but yeah, on the whole, I thought it went really well the first show, and a big part of it was because you guys came to support us and gave us those numbers that just gave us that little boost to be like, right, okay, we can sell stuff.

SPEAKER_00

And I think as well, like if you get I think when you get press the eBay live button on the eBay app to go and see who's live, I'm pretty sure it's put in order of how many people are viewing the show. So the fact that we we did have a flood of people at the start, I think possibly gave us a bit of a higher bump up the up the ranking because there wasn't that many people on at 11am on Saturday. And there was nobody doing what you were doing. So I think we did alright to get in new people on who'd never sort of viewed us before, you know, or found car boot Chris on eBay, you know, so that was good.

SPEAKER_01

We had a few people that said that it was their first time on eBay Live as well, and we got some really positive feedback from them saying that they'd had a good experience and they were gonna come back again. So yeah, that gave us a little boost as well, didn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Now, I'm talking about this now, but there is gonna be a video later in the week. It'll I'll talk about the setup of eBay Live. I've took I took some footage during that first show. I was videoing it at the same time as presenting. So we'll show you some footage from the show, also behind the scenes, the packing afterwards, and some thoughts about the comparison between eBay Live and Whatnot. Having, you know, I've been on Whatnot for basically three years, and you know, I've I've done a lot on there. Not the biggest seller by any means, but I've been on there a long time. So I think I've got some good insight as to the comparisons. So look out for that video. You'll probably hear some of the same things I'm saying during this show, during the podcast. But you know, it doesn't matter, you're gonna see some other stuff, hopefully, when it comes out later in the week. Some of my initial thoughts were. Easy to set up a show, so to schedule a show, easy to get ready for the show. But hard to add considering the eBay Live is part of your eBay ecosystem, it's actually difficult to add your own listings that you already have on eBay. Because what you've got to do, if you want to add listings to a buy it now section on your live show, you have to alter it to take off. Because most of us have best offer on, don't we? So if you've got a best offer selected on your normal eBay store items, you can't add them to your show as buy it now unless you remove best offer. So you've got to go and edit the things that you want to put as buy it now. Also, I think it's a massive missed opportunity that eBay doesn't allow you to just select a store item that you've already got listed and drag it into your eBay live show and start it at a price that you want to start it as an auction. There should be an automated feature where you can go to your store or select, uh add listings, select something from your store and start it as an auction all very, very smoothly in one click.

SPEAKER_01

Does that fall into life in the first lane's comment where they put the thing I'd changed for eBay Live is being able to add your current store items as a buy-it now?

SPEAKER_00

Absolutely, yeah. I did add two, but it's I only put two on there because it was it was a pain in the neck, like editing stuff and putting it on.

SPEAKER_01

And then one of them was a bit cocky, cocked up because it was about to end.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, it was messed up a bit. But I think eBay going forward, hopefully, they will put an ability to easily add something from your store. I want to just go add listing, select from it from a shop, and then start it as an you know, add it as an auction as a one pound starter. Why can't I do that, eBay? Like that should be it's part of the eBay ecosystem. It should be very easy to connect eBay live to your store. And at the moment it feels disjointed.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeons and Dragons says yes, the feature is coming.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, is it? Good, good. I feel I feel like that's a massive opportunity that that you should be able to do that with with like one click, like really easily.

SPEAKER_01

They're also adding scroll through lives by flicking up.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, yeah. Yeah, you can do that and whatnot, can't you?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Let's go through some of the chat and I'll go back for it.

SPEAKER_01

Jay has said, just going back to your thing, she said, no, you waffle, she doesn't.

SPEAKER_00

I don't waffle.

SPEAKER_01

You can go on a bit, can't it? You I you can't get an edge, a word in edgeway sometimes.

SPEAKER_00

Do I? Do I really waffle?

SPEAKER_01

On here, you do, yeah. You go on.

SPEAKER_00

Hang on, some people last week were saying that you were banging on about something for hours.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, but that was just joking.

SPEAKER_00

Uh CJMG, welcome. Hey guys, just tuning in. Welcome. New name.

SPEAKER_01

Lisa says, was it better than whatnot?

SPEAKER_00

It's too early to say. I've only done two shows. There's no way I can say. I would say the prices of items were similar. So the all-important sales, I think, were very similar, similar level. I felt like the audience was a bit more grown up, like a bit more adult. And that's not that's nothing against like all of a lot of you guys followed us on whatnot. That's not aimed at you guys, but sometimes it it feels I don't know if it's the gamification on whatnot that brings in a younger crowd, like all the all the little things that you do, you know, the gamification.

SPEAKER_01

People are there to buy on eBay.

SPEAKER_00

I feel like it was more of a buyer's show.

SPEAKER_01

Because there's no giveaways, people aren't there for all other reasons.

SPEAKER_00

That's changing, by the way. People are starting to do give is now.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god.

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, that's a bit disappointing. I'd rather see no give is like that's not because I'm tight, it's because everyone, it should be like a level playing field, in my opinion. Like, let's not do gives. If we're all not doing gives, then what does it matter?

SPEAKER_01

It's not only that, if people want to come and buy items, they should come to buy items, not come for what they can get for free.

SPEAKER_00

You you always felt like on whatnot that people uh like half your audience was there for the givy, yeah, and not to spend any money just to see what they could get for free, and that was kind of frustrating on whatnot.

SPEAKER_01

But anyway, we're it's too early to tell. Too early. There's there are differences with it. Some some were easier, some were better. So, in terms of like I found the background bit was easier and quicker than whatnot. Only very slightly, because I do feel like whatnot is a user-friendly system, but eBay have made it even easier. It's literally like a one-click start to get things going.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, give eBay time, they'll certain complicate them.

SPEAKER_01

But at the moment, I found that and they had some good features on there that I thought were useful things like if people put a question mark, you can pick the questions up in a section, and they had a little section where you could bookmark. So if you had to go back to something, you could bookmark it.

SPEAKER_00

So, like if someone made a comment that you didn't want to forget, you could bookmark it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, or if they'd asked a qu ask, because if you ask a question, you have to put a question mark, and if you don't, it doesn't go into the question bit. So I could bookmark it and then go back to it.

SPEAKER_02

Right.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that is good. So I wasn't losing it then when we were when we had a number of things that people were asking for.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. CJMG says, Can I get a shout out? Bella give you a shout out.

SPEAKER_01

Send in love. Oh, come on. Why the heart's not working? There we go. There you go.

SPEAKER_00

Dungeons and Joypad says, How many hours do you have to do a week, Chris? I've I've not been getting there's no there's no minimum maximum. All they said was if you want to have a like dedicated like manager, then you have to do three shows a week of a minimum one hour each show. But you can do one show a week if you want to, if you if you're not worried about having like a dedicated like point of contact manager type thing.

SPEAKER_01

You've already decided you're gonna run it very much like you did whatnot on an ad hoc sort of basis.

SPEAKER_00

Ad hoc, but ideally I'd like to do a minimum of one per week. But we'll see. We'll see. It all depends if I can get the stock. Like once now car boots are opening. Like, I'll I've stopped like the last sort of three, four months while I've been doing tabletops and that, I've not really been picking up stuff suitable for live selling. But now I know I'm back on live selling with eBay Live, I'll I'll open my eyes a bit more to things that are more suitable, you know.

SPEAKER_01

Emsdem's joined us. Hi, Emsden. Hi, Emsden. Jeff says Belle Baggins sounds like she belongs in Lord of the Rings sequel. I'm the right hype for a hobbit.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's true. CJ says, any tips for starting reselling? Starting selling. Go on, Bell will give you a tip. I'm putting it on you for CJ all the time. Any tips?

SPEAKER_01

The obvious ones starting selling on eBay Live or starting selling in general.

SPEAKER_00

The first obvious one is to sell stuff around the house. I mean, it's something that we all say as resellers like start off, like sell stuff around your house. There's no cost of goods there. So everything you make on it is a bonus. And then reinvest. Reinvest. Don't take any money out for as long as possible for yourself. Reinvest everything into stock and infrastructure. And when I say infrastructure, I'm talking about label printers, good cameras or phones or whatever, you know, your laptop that you need to list stuff on, all these kind of things. You know, spend those early days reinvesting in in your business. If obviously you want it to be a long-term business.

SPEAKER_01

If you're like me and you just want the extra cash in your bank, just take it as a take it out somewhere.

SPEAKER_00

Linlan said, I love eBay Live, it's the interaction between people. You can actually see what you get. That's a good point. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, Shed 101 Shed is here.

SPEAKER_01

Hello. This was another buyer from the weekend as well. Thank you so much for your uh purchases.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, thank you very much. Think of the word then. As a buyer, it was good. Shoppers' experience, it was fun and easy going. Good. Nice to hear. So yeah, and Dungeon says the features coming, that'll be good, but I'm sure eBay will complicate that.

SPEAKER_01

Demise says, I mentioned to our guy that adding items straight to bid on from the shop would be better, and he seemed shocked that it wasn't a thing. Why haven't they thought about it?

SPEAKER_00

I don't understand it, Demise. It seems so obvious. Like it, like, if someone like comes up in the live and says, Oh, I've seen you've got this anime set in your store, you know, would you be interested in running it on the show? And I'd be like, Okay, click, add it, like bell on the back end could go, add item, find it in my store, add, start at a pound, or start at£10, or start at£20.

SPEAKER_01

Because we did have people asking for stuff that we didn't have with us, but he had on in the eBay store.

SPEAKER_00

People were saying, Have you got any anime? Have you got any what pops? What else?

SPEAKER_01

Well, they did ask for Simpsons, which we then we then brought in on the second show, didn't we?

SPEAKER_00

Like those sim, like what I was doing, right, and this would help a lot. Before the show, I was ending stuff on my store and bringing it up to do on eBay Live. And then if it didn't sell, I was having to then relist it back onto my store. So ideally, you know, as the show goes on, if there's one or two things that people are looking for, I could just drag it in and just auction it straight away. Like, but if eBay add that feature, they've got to make it like almost instant, like one click or two clicks to get it in. Like, don't make it complicated.

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_00

I don't want to have to edit a listing and save it before adding it, like they're they're making you do right now, because that's just stupid.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Demise says it's a pain when you have to go and delete them afterwards.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Dungeons and Pro Joypass says there's lots of features being added, but there's a cue for it, I guess, and priority. Yeah, yeah. One thing we've asked for is a visible is visible like counter for viewers, so we can boost engagement active. That's a good point.

(Cont.) Our First eBay LIVE Show & Is It Better Than WhatNot? | S07E05

SPEAKER_00

I'm just gonna write that down for my next video, actually. Because, like, I couldn't see the chat on the phone. Obviously, Bell could see it on the on the console, on the desktop. But also, I had no idea how many people were on.

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't even see when the listings were ending, right?

SPEAKER_00

I couldn't see the winning bidders, nothing.

SPEAKER_01

You couldn't see how much things were going for. There was nothing on yours, was there?

SPEAKER_00

I'm just gonna write that down.

SPEAKER_01

That's kind of said Fluffy says Belle doesn't waffle, she tells a good story.

SPEAKER_00

Oh god. Is that what it is? No winning bidders either.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeons says it will never be a level playing field.

SPEAKER_00

No, you you're right, it won't be. But I think like if they're they're they're gonna start introducing gives. I've already seen people trialing it. I and I think that's just I would rather not.

SPEAKER_01

It then becomes I'm pretty sure you've heard me say this and I'll say it again. It then becomes a social platform. People don't purposely come in to buy, people come in for the gives and then just sit in the chat and have a social natter going on. And that used that that's part of the reason why I stopped going on whatnot and going into shows because I couldn't be bothered with all the natta that went on. I just wanted to go and buy stuff, and I feel like if they bring in those features, it's gonna go the exact same way and become a social platform.

SPEAKER_00

On our onboarding refresher video thing, I did say to to the guy, I said to him, you know, you don't you know you don't need to copy whatnot, and you don't need to be the same as whatnot. You know, you your eBay, you can just do it eBay's way. Pick out some of the features that Whatnot does well, leave off the things that they don't do so well. And I think I I sort of said, and it was kind of agreed, there was like six or seven people in the in the Zoom call, and they all kind of said they don't particularly like the gamification that Whatnot has. You know, all this, you know, you all these like discount games that they have when you gotta build up to platinum and all that nonsense. They don't particularly like that, and they don't like Gives. You know, all these you know stars that you've got to, you know, all this stuff. You don't need to do all that. Just have good things to sell, I think.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

But that's my opinion, right? Other people might think other things.

SPEAKER_01

Did you answer Jeff's question?

SPEAKER_00

No, Jeff's got a really good point because it's written down on here. Did the eBay live shipping for multiple sales combine like whatnot? And the answer is not automatically. Or not for me, anyway, because I post using parcel to go. So I don't post using eBay's own labels. And also, when the show finished, I had to wait like four hours or something, because it gives it gives the buyers a window to purchase other things from your store and still have it combined into your postage. That's what it appears to do, anyway. I had to wait four or five hours before it finalized those purchases. But it doesn't what I would like to see eBay do after the show is combine the people that have bought things with their multi-orders into one. Into one. But you can do it, you can do it on parcel to go, but obviously it takes you more time to do it. You've got to go through and you can do on parcel to go, you can press a button called grouping. I was like panicking a bit thinking, how am I going to do this? And Belle came over and had a look and she said, What about that? You can you can do groups on parcel to go, and basically it picks up all the same addresses and same names, and it offers you the opportunity to put them into one parcel, and then what it does is once you've paid, it will send the tracking over to eBay and it will mark all of those in that group dispatched and add the same tracking number to all of that group. So that's that's really good.

SPEAKER_01

Just while we're on this, I'll just pick up because Lisa's asked a similar question. Do you just do your postage through eBay like the way you do if you sell the item on the store? But then Dungeons and Dragons have said down at the bottom, go onto desktop, go to items awaiting dispatch or whatever it is, and all your orders are there if you want to pack right away.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I saw that. Um Dungeons, I saw that. It's kind of weird, isn't it, how it takes like four or five hours for them to actually appear on your orders. But I I did notice that it doesn't group them on eBay, does it? I I don't use eBay packing and postage, so it doesn't automatically group them, which I think it would be an it would be a good idea if it did. Or if you could select all the ones from one person and put them into one parcel, that would be good. But parcel to go, you can do it, it just takes you a little bit longer, and that's where Whatnot wins because buyers pay whatnot for the postage, not me. Whatnot provides the label, and it's all very, very simple. You literally just have to make sure your parcel is the right size and the right weight, and then you can print all your labels off. And really, in a whatnot show, if you do 30 parcels, you can have it printed in like about 15 minutes. Like, literally, it's very quick. As long as you've packaged everything up, it can be done in 15 minutes. It took me a lot longer to sort that out on eBay on parcel to go, but but now I know how to do it, it should be a bit quicker next time. It's because it was the first time, you know. First time is always a bit more difficult.

SPEAKER_01

Just before we move on to any other chatter, Peter A has now joined us. You weren't here earlier, I don't think, Peter. We did send our wishes out to you, obviously on the loss of your dad. So yeah, we're sending love to you and your family with that this difficult time.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, sending our best. So I've sent him a message already, anyway.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, I messaged as well, but just in case he wasn't here earlier. So Chris Tyler had something has says, has eBay limited the amount of sellers not to saturate at the same time? I can see people copying your Saturday morning.

SPEAKER_00

I'm probably not gonna do Saturday morning again, to be honest with you, but I think they're limiting the number of people that come on all at once, like as in get onboarded onto the platform. But once you're on, you can go and you can go live whenever you want. There's no limit to the day or time. So but I think they are drip feeding new sellers onto the platform. That's that's the way it seems to me.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeon says, yeah, you have to be able to keep the conveyor belt going. I've had 200 kilograms arrive this week to keep me going. I do 50 items an hour, two to four hour streams at least three times a week, so you can imagine how many items. Yeah. He had me helping him. I always know if it's a lot because he drags me in. And you had this morning.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we ended up doing a second show on Sunday morning to to mop up from the Saturday, which it was not my idea, guys. This one here, Bell said, let's do it again. Because you're already set up, everything was ready to go, wasn't it?

SPEAKER_01

As you can all see, normally this room is full of it in here, and he's had it all cleared out, ready and nice and neat for doing the whatnot show. And we still had stuff left from Saturday that he hadn't sold, and people had been asking for stuff that I knew we could get to use, so I just was like, Well, why don't we just do a second one? And then you've got two under your belt. Yeah, you don't know, but I'm obviously thinking that I've got a lot coming up in the next few weeks for starting work and stuff as well. So I just wanted him to have a couple under where I was there and I could help, and it'd be fine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. So we did it, but it was a lot for you at the back end, it was a lot afterwards to deal with, to deal with two shows and the amount of you know, I had 123 orders to deal with, and then they combined into about 50 parcels, and some of them were very big. Like some one person ordered 26 items from me. Which thank you very much. It was it was nice, but you know, at least that was 26 in one parcel, I guess. Dungeons says, why don't you just import the item into your live? You can just import your listings in the add item. Yes, you can, Dungeons. But what I found was if you have best offer on your listings, you've got to go in and edit your listing, take best offer off, save it, and then import it. So it was a bit of a faff, really, to be honest. I I don't really see why. Like if you import, why can't they just automatically take best offer off? Then I just I've not got to grips with that importing things yet. I've it just didn't work for me. All my listings were grayed out, saying you've got to edit your listing before you bring it in. And then I couldn't bring it in and start an auction on it. It just that bit I think is messy. Just coming from someone who's brand brand new to the platform, you might have like you've been on a while, so but from my point of view, from my point of view, that bit was messy.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Jess says, Seem like a lot of people on Saturday's show were wanting trainers, UK size six. No, yeah, I know. I wish.

SPEAKER_00

Sammy says, Chris, you thought you'd be wearing a city top tonight. I was I contemplated it, yeah. I contemplated it, but you know me, I keep low-key. I'm just happy with the win.

SPEAKER_01

Georgie Resellers drawed us. Hello. Dungeon says, why don't you input on or we've I just done that?

SPEAKER_00

And also Dungeon says, I like the overlay, like the counter on OBS, but it's a pain. But sometimes get 20 to 30,000 likes because people like watching it go up. Ah, that's good, good idea. I don't use OBS, so I don't think I'm gonna need to use it because I don't do that sort of you know handheld thing, you know, where you need the two the two cameras. I know demise do it, but I think I'm not sure if demise do it because you if you if you don't use Apple, if you don't use an Apple device and you're on Android, if you're on Android, you have to use OBS for the system. But if you're on Apple, you can just use a phone straight from the app and your and your desktop. So I don't think I'm gonna need the OBS thing. I don't I don't see the benefit for me because I'm just selling front up. Here we go. I'm not doing the whole cards, breaks, and stuff like that.

unknown

But yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Paul Hillman has joined us. Hello. Hi, Paul. Woo who says I caught a little on Sunday, didn't look too different to whatnot.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, very similar.

SPEAKER_01

And we were the first page at the time.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, that's good. So that's there weren't many people doing 11 o'clock on the Saturday or the Sunday. There probably might have been a reason for that, but we did okay, didn't we?

SPEAKER_01

And people he was the only one doing the products he was doing as well. And I've seen somebody put there's a lot of Pokemon cards. There was the majority of other people that were on at the weekend were all doing cards. So yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Dungeon says um no Natter in my streams, Bell, 50 items an hour.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah, that'll do me. That's just that's the sort of stuff I like.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I think they are rolling out giveaways. I've seen, I think they're testing it. I think the guy that onboarded me said that they're currently testing giveaways with some sellers, so it's coming. Give these are coming.

SPEAKER_01

El Raventi says, I do enjoy sometimes going into whatnot shows and chatting nonsense. It does help some sellers with their show. When I first started buying on Poshmark, I ran up a credit card bill. Everyone to their own. It's just not my cup of tea. I'm I'm a very much if I want to go and buy something, I can't be bothered sitting there for half an hour waiting for them to actually show me an item because they're too busy chatting. It's like just get me out. What am I like with you if you even dare to drag it out of any limit? I'm like, come on, next one. Let's get the next one out. We're here to sell out.

SPEAKER_00

Uh Carol said exactly Bell, that's the reason I no longer shop on what night. It does my head in when it becomes a social night out and you wait ages.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. But like I said, it's everybody's preferences and are different. Dungeon says it's so people can keep buying without paying shipping, which is obviously the delay afterwards.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Rachel says, in your opinion, will eBay Light be an easy to run as a one-woman show? I don't think any of these platforms would be easy to run as a one person. I've done Whatnot on my own. But it's not easy.

SPEAKER_00

Whatnot would be easier on your own because you've got everything on your screen pretty much, and you just need your console next to you just to do some like to start up. Well, you don't even need it to start auctions, you can do that on your phone as well. So Whatnot's definitely easier as a one-man band.

SPEAKER_01

I think eBay would be easier.

SPEAKER_00

Do you? You'd have to just have your desktop right next to your hand.

SPEAKER_01

You'd have to have your camera up, and then you would have this is what I said to you, you'd have to have a little table at the side with your laptop on, so that it but it's literally a one-click start. Unless you're changing the price, starting price, it's a one-click, it's not like whatnot, where you have to do like two or three clicks to get it started. Hit click, it runs, and then you jot down who's won it. So if you had it set up in the right way, all front facing, I think you'd quite easily do it. But it like I said, I personally don't think doing it on your own would be easier, whichever way you're doing it. Yeah, it's hard when it's two of us.

SPEAKER_00

It is. Yeah, I it depends a lot as well, actually, on what you're selling. Yeah, if you sell it like us, we're selling like some big bulky stuff, and we're having to organize where you know, but we we we do it in bags, so we have like bin bags, and every time someone buys something, we we write their buyer name and we staple it to the bag, and then we put their item in the bag, and then every time they buy something else, it just goes in the bag, and that way we have bags with everybody's stuff in, and we find that good. If it's a clothing show, I'll do the numbers on the hangers, but other than that, some people put post-it notes on stuff, some people put bits of like tape on with names on and numbers, you know, what the number item of the auction, some people do that. I guess whatever works for you, but I think throughout the time of doing whatnot, we just came to find that a bag because because a lot of people will often buy more than one item, we and our items are quite bulky, we found that operating the bag system worked best for us, didn't we?

SPEAKER_01

It does use just going to the bottom there. We it did use the video receipts, but only really as a backup because if they're all in bags with a name on, then you shouldn't need to go back through all the video receipts unless there's a problem.

SPEAKER_00

Right.

SPEAKER_01

So, because to me, if you were sitting there having to go through all the video receipts, that would take longer.

SPEAKER_00

Oh god, no, I wouldn't want to do that. Demise says, I think eBay give you the choice to choose their postage or not, is better. The privilege of having grouped sales comes with using their postage. Yeah, I kind of thought that was gonna be the case. I think if I'd have clicked buy label on some of the things, I think it probably would have grouped them. Like like Dungeons was saying before, his were all grouped. So I'm guessing, I'm guessing he uses eBay's postage. I don't, I prefer to use parcel to go. But when parcel to go imports all your eBay orders, you can use a group function, it identifies the same name and addresses, and he brings them all into one. So it is quite easy, it's just a few extra clicks, that's all.

SPEAKER_01

You just have to play around with it, won't you?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeon says it's a very at how do you say that? Archaic and based on a 30-year-old website will take time to modernise it, I guess.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And Dungeon says they have one camera for me, one camera for the eye.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's what a lot of people do, don't they? I know Demise do that as well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Demise says two cameras makes it easier to run alone, sticking the item in front of the camera and being hands-free is way easier. I guess that's something you could try.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think it would work for for me. And I I feel like and also I don't really want to use OBS. I don't want to complicate it any further. I kind of like the desktop camera and hold the item. I kind of prefer that that way of doing it.

SPEAKER_01

I guess because we don't really want to go back to just showing one item at a time. We want to keep with the people can shout, people can view a few different items and then tell us what they want us to run.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Linley says I absolutely love eBay Live. I only watch people I know. She also said she's only there for she's not there just for the giveaways. That's nice to know, Linley.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Dungeon says don't use the video receipts, Chris. Much easier. That's what I just I don't know why that would be easier than just throwing a name in a bag, like an item in a bag with a name on it. I I don't see how it would be easier. I mean, correct me if if I'm wrong, but watching a video, like that person who had that the person who bought 26 items from us, and there were multiple people who bought multiple items. Like, once they bought one item, all we had to do was say, okay, that's Joe Bloggs, and put it in the bag, and all my all his items are in a bag. It's done. And then all I had to do was go and package everything in that bag into one box, and it was very easy like that. Now, if I had to watch 26 video receipts to see what they bought, that that would take way longer.

SPEAKER_01

I suppose it's like dungeons and depends what you sell. Yeah, he said when you have 50 different customers and working on your own for larger items, it's difficult to keep everything in bags, yeah. So it obviously that way works better for you.

SPEAKER_00

It's gonna depend, isn't it? Like what you're selling and how you operate.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Dungeons and dry pads, yes, eBay postage, just easier to group it. You also get protection benefits for using it, auto remove defects, defects, etc.

SPEAKER_00

I just don't want to use eBay postage.

SPEAKER_01

Caboot Keith has joined us just tuning in to say hi to my younger brother and Bell. Caboot Keith. Oh, yeah. And picking up extra tips and tricks every day is a learning day. It certainly is, and if we can help with any of that, which is very unlikely. Bonus.

SPEAKER_00

Um, so you can review the live show once it's finished if you need to check info, says Ing. Yeah, you can watch the whole show back if you want, but every sale, like timestamps like a video receipt, and you can watch it. We actually actually came in useful, didn't it? Because we had one rogue item from the Saturday show that we got wrong somewhere online. I think it went in the wrong bag or it fell in the wrong bag or something, and we had to track it down. So that was good. Twice it came in useful.

SPEAKER_01

Did it came in useful today when you found out that oh, we got balloons when we found out that someone had changed their username.

unknown

Yes.

SPEAKER_01

There was a username that we didn't eat, we'd never and I was like, I did not write that name down. That person did not buy anything.

SPEAKER_00

I was having a panic, right? Because I was go, I was printing out all, I was going through all the labels, getting the postage ready, and then this this username popped up. I won't say the name, obviously, but this username popped up, and I thought, that person's not bought anything, and yet they're saying that they bought three things. So I was in a panic, like, where's this bag? Because this person, I haven't packed this person. So in the end, what we did was we we watched the video receipt, and actually it was a different username that won it, but when we checked the surname, the surname was the same. So basically, what had happened was either they've swathed they've changed their username in that small window of uh like buying and then ending the show, or perhaps they used a different username to pay for the item, I'm not sure. But somehow they ended up with a different username on my uh packing list, so that really created a headache.

SPEAKER_01

But we might we the video receipts.

SPEAKER_00

The video receipts came in handy for those.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Where are we up to? We need to. I'm just we're we're nearly at nine o'clock and you haven't done the duck race yet.

SPEAKER_00

Let me go through a few more of the points that I found from from the eBay live that I might have missed out. Now there is going to be an additional video this week. I've I've recorded some behind the scenes footage of me actually doing the show, starting the show, packing afterwards, you know, the headaches, the goods, the bads. So that'll be coming out in the next few days. So some of the things I wrote down are cancellations. This is one of my gripes. Remember, you've got to keep it quick and concise, so come on. Well, you do it then. No, come on. Well, you're you're delaying it.

SPEAKER_01

Come on.

SPEAKER_00

You're delaying it.

SPEAKER_01

Quick.

SPEAKER_00

No, you're delaying it now.

SPEAKER_01

Um no waffling, quick, quick, quick, quick.

SPEAKER_00

Cancellations. eBay allow cancellations on orders. We all know that. How many times a week do we get someone buy something and then cancel? Well, it's no different for eBay Live. And on that first show, I had five cancellations after the show, and it really annoyed me. One of them was okay, one of them was okay because they bought something else and they just wanted to cancel one of their items. But one person cancelled all four of their items. It started off with one. When I accepted the cancellation, they put the second one in, and then they put a third one in, and then they put a fourth one in, four cancellations, and I was not happy. I sent them quite a stern email back. I cancelled them all for them, but also they got blocked. So, unlike whatnot, you can't you can say no cancellations, but they can put a cancellation in that the eBay allows them to do that. And also, I always think as well, if you refuse a cancellation, what they're gonna do, they're gonna return it, aren't they? Because as per your return policy, they can return the item as well. And now in three years on whatnot, I never had one single return in three years. Over 3,000 sales are made on whatnot, not net not a single return. And you know, the cancellations, that's a bit of an annoyance, that one.

SPEAKER_01

We just politely asked on the next show, didn't we, to make sure that if you if you were bidding, you only bid it because you really wanted the item, because it's not fair on other people when you then cancel.

SPEAKER_00

Another point I've written down was if you're the type of seller, and I've been for a while, that likes to monitor their average sale price, forget it. Once you go on eBay Live, those sales on eBay Live count towards all your stats. So your sales will go up, your even your conversion rates will go up, but your average sale price, assuming that stuff's selling for one, two, three, four, five pounds, your average sale price, you might as well forget about monitoring that in future, unless they decide to split that out from eBay live, because your average sale price will just take a it'll be irrelevant from this point onwards. It will tank your average sale price, definitely. So I'm just gonna have to just like mentally forget about average sale price from now on. But other than that, oh, I'd like to see also, you know how on eBay you can send out shop newsletters and they have those templates, like you can have sale templates, coupon templates. It'd be nice if they would have an eBay live template so that you can send a newsletter out to your followers and and buyers to tell them that you've got an eBay live coming up. I sent one out based on a coupon email. So um I told people that there was a coupon, and also, hey, I'm doing my first eBay live. Some of you guys might have received that email, but basically I fudged one of the emails and put a link in it to my first eBay live. But it'd be a good idea if they actually had a template for eBay Live. I'm gonna feed all this stuff back to eBay. I'm sure they've heard most of it anyway. I mean, God, I'm I'm not exactly the first person on the platform. There's loads of other people who are before me.

SPEAKER_01

Lisa was saying that even your even though your numbers will go down, your auction bit will go up.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I suppose. Yeah, I think I've covered most of the points. And if you want to see a bit more, if you want to see some behind the scenes footage of the first eBay live, then there's a video coming out probably uh this week, hopefully. Yeah, I think I've covered most things, you know. Anything that I've missed, I'll I'll mention on that video, and I'll try and keep it short.

SPEAKER_01

Jeff says this will be the 200th and second duck race. Wow, that's a lot of duck races. Rachel thinks 202 is a lucky number. Um are we gonna look at doing the duck race and getting it out of the way?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Fluffy says they should separate the stats. Yeah, I agree really. I agree. I think the stats should be separate, but I guess it's tricky. I guess they want to keep it all part of the same ecosystem. What reason for cancellation? The first one, I'll forget the one that just cancelled one. I wasn't too worried about that, I was okay with that one. But the one that cancelled all four started off with my I showed my child what I'd bought and it he didn't want it. That was it. And then the second so I agreed to that. I'm not expecting her to cancel all four items, and the second one was ordered by mistake, and then the third one was ordered by mistake, and then the last one was I can't remember what the last one was. It was probably ordered by mistake. She just she just saw that I agreed to one and then cancelled all of them, basically. And I sent her a message basically saying that it, you know, it's not on, it's not in the spirit of live auctions to cancel. It stops other people from buying, it creates a problem for me. I'd packaged all those already, by the way. Like straight away, I packaged them. So I had to then unbox everything. Yeah, it was a waste of time, really.

SPEAKER_01

But that everything happens for a reason because that happened to be the parcel that when he undid, there was one missing out of it. So that's how we found out that there was an item that was in somebody else's box. So there was a silver lining.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there was actually. So I'm quite I'm happy now that they did because we we found an error with that one box, and that was the one that we we what were the chances? Yeah, what are the odds that that was the one? Dungeon said ban them. I have a long list. They're banned. I I put it on the ticker at the bottom now. I I changed it after the first show. On the second show, I put postage costs, then I put dispatch days, and then a third part I put on that ticker was cancellations might result in a ban, and we reserve the right to ban people if you cancel. I think that's the best you could do, really, to be honest. Yeah, it'd be good if eBay would introduce like some cancellation rule on auctions because it's not really fair. Anyway, there you go, that's eBay life.

SPEAKER_01

Take it you didn't have any from the second show.

SPEAKER_00

No, I think we learned quite a bit quite quickly from the first one. Like I made some changes to the second one, so it was a good idea to do the second one straight away because it was all still fresh in my mind, you know, and it gave us like a good bit of experience straight away to do two quick fire shows, really.

SPEAKER_01

Lisa says at least they will have to return it to you after if they want their money back. You don't have to return it on whatnot, really. You don't have to return the item, right? But still get your money.

SPEAKER_00

I've never worked. I've never ever had that particular issue on whatnot. I've never had a problem.

SPEAKER_01

It's long distance selling laws, not eBay.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I get it. How does like whatnot get away with it then?

SPEAKER_01

But anyway, on the whole, it was a good experience. Sounds like from both sides as well, with the feedback we've had.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, whatnot just operate outside the law, that's why they're getting sued, yeah. Yeah, yeah. I think they're they're probably gonna have to change those rules, aren't they? Because it is a it is a distance selling stuff. Oh, there we go. There's my thoughts on um on eBay Live. Thank you to everybody who watches the channel who decided to come along and support us. I'd really appreciate it. Even if you came along just to make up the numbers, to watch, to be nosy, to see how it goes. To maybe you're thinking about selling yourself on eBay.

SPEAKER_01

Not literally selling yourself.

SPEAKER_00

Well I'd I'd try and sell Bell, but you know, probably probably get banned. I would be a return. Spinning the wheel is actually illegal. Oh, I I was told I don't even know if I'm allowed to say this. I was told something by on my onboarding session. I was told that I'm gonna say it anyway, I was told that eBay have acquired a gambling license to do with eBay Live. So I think at some point they're gonna start testing the games and the mystery games and the spin the wheels and stuff like that. Apparently, allegedly, they they've they're looking into the gambling aspect. Obviously, like whatnot are sailing close to the wind with all this stuff, aren't they? But eBay being the company that they are.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeons Dungeons said you said it, not me, so I'm assuming he was already aware of Lisa said that she has items with damages and marks that were not shown on whatnot, and you just take a picture from the refund you.

SPEAKER_00

Really? I've never had that. Never had it.

SPEAKER_01

But then you've got no refund policy on whatnot.

SPEAKER_00

No, but I've never had anybody even w raise an issue. No. But but the good thing about whatnot is because all the postage is managed by whatnot, the payment from a buyer goes to whatnot. The labels are generated by them. Uh if there's any issue after you've posted it, if it gets damaged in transit, if it gets lost, if anyone raises a problem, whatnot, just cover it. That's probably why then. That is that is the good thing about it. That is I do like that about it. Like once it's posted, you can literally forget about it. Unless it's an item not as described, a bit like on eBay.

SPEAKER_01

Are we doing the duck race?

SPEAKER_00

Yes. Let's do the duck race, guys. Before we do that, let's just say a quick thank you to all our members. Across the screen now, here on YouTube, we've got uh all our YouTube channel members. If you want to join, it's$2.99 a month. And make sure if you do join that you join via the uh YouTube desktop page. Don't join via mobile app because mobile app, if you are on Apple, will cost you more. It will cost you$3.99 if you want to join on the mobile app on Apple, but it will cost you$2.99 on desktop. It's the Apple tax. So don't join via an Apple device. But you can join by MacBook or something like that, as long as it's desktop. Yeah, so thank you to all our members. If you do join, you can join our Discord, our friendly little Discord full of like-minded people and some non-resellers as well. Not everybody in there is a reseller. So yeah, I appreciate all our members. I think we have 50. Or is it 62?

SPEAKER_01

We said 60 submitted.

SPEAKER_00

62, I think. 62 members or 60 members. So thank you to everybody. All the names going across the stream screen right now. Is that your belly?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Demise, you just reminded me I need to leave and join again to pay the regular price.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Do it. I I don't even I wouldn't mind if I saw that extra pound, but it's the apple. Well, no, you wouldn't mind because you don't want people to pay more. I would. I wouldn't mind, but at least it would go to well, what would you rather? I got that extra pound or Apple.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You'd rather I have it, wouldn't you? But I don't, I don't get it. It's bad enough. Google take a 33% off you anyway.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So it's like of your$2.99, I get two quid. So yeah. But yeah, please, like, guys, if you are a member and you're paying the$3.99, please cancel but come back and sign up on desktop and pay$2.99 instead.

SPEAKER_01

You just give everybody a get out of jail free card.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

They're all gonna leave and never come back.

SPEAKER_00

Make sure you come back then. I'm saving you money. I've heard Magpie's gone A-WOL too. Oh, what's happened there?

SPEAKER_01

Dunno, but we don't do drama. So come on, let's move on to our pleasant duck race.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, let's do the duck race. So, oh after the duck race, I need to I need a reason to keep people here. After the duck race, we've got a really good oh no to go go on. And also we'll talk about how I'm not in vintage jail anymore. So that's the two things after the duck race to stick around for. Oh, and Fluffy the Muffin says, Thanks for the desktop tip, Chris. I got a YouTube premium for£12 until it's 16. Exactly. There you go. Save, save your money.

SPEAKER_01

You can spend that money on the on the group now.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, come and join the group for a month. I'm joking, I'm joking. Right, let's let's go. Let's get ready for the duck race. You keep people talking. Why don't you tell people how they can join the duck race while I'm doing this?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, for anybody that is listening and not watching and has got no idea what's about what's about to happen, each week we do just for fun, a little bit of a duck race, a virtual duck race. If you want to be part of it, you will have to come over to YouTube. And once this show is finished, underneath the video section, leave a comment. Comment, hopefully a nice one, uh, and that will automatically enter you into the following week's duck race, and it will also give you the chance to possibly become comment of the week if you do a nice enough or new enough. I don't know, maybe even a real comment might get comment of the week. An interesting comment, an interesting comment, um, a useful comment, tip, anything like that might get you comment of the week. Uh, but yeah, um we have fun, but we do get a prize. What's the surprise this week? Or is it a surprise again?

SPEAKER_02

It's a surprise.

SPEAKER_01

It's a surprise again. That means that Chris hasn't worked it out yet. Um but yeah, you do get a little bit of something in the post.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Okay, we're ready for the duck race. Belle's gonna do the commentary today. Um now we need to do a funny face for this bit because we're gonna freeze as soon as I go over. So are you ready?

SPEAKER_01

Ready.

SPEAKER_00

You're gonna have to watch this for two minutes.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, you ready?

SPEAKER_01

Ready, go.

SPEAKER_00

Hang on. Oh my duck race all things by the way. Oh, you're right, you ready? Ready? Okay, guys, we're ready for the duck race. One minute. No, no, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_01

Oh no, we moved it to two again.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because people have voted that they really enjoyed the two minutes. Oh, right, okay. So we'll do two minutes.

SPEAKER_01

Right, okay, okay. Already, ready, swim, and we are off. Everybody has left, all in one go. Let's see if I can pick some names out as they slowly appear. So we've got Lisa up at the front as a unicorn duck. Just below that is Rachel fantastic. She did think it was her lucky race today. Let's see if it is. Dizzy J is just pushing his way to the front as a vampire duck. Below that is speed foot flips. I can see Tiny Cloud in the middle. Ian G up at the top. Lisa is still leading the pack. Uh, Jeff Davis is pushing his way to the front as a naked duck with Peter Ray behind him. Uh, is it Rosie Marsden that's pushing her way through or is it Sarah Marsden? I can't quite say the name. Uh, Angel Delight is now there in the middle as a little chef duck. I can see Limelight Vince at the top and 49 Toddy is trying to make a little bit of a swim for it. Um God, the whole pack is here at the moment. Uh Peter Ray still down at the bottom. Karen Evans has made it through. She is now leading the pack. 49 Toddy and Limelight Vince alongside her. Uh, Limelight Vince is going off in the wrong direction. Chris Tyler is making it to the front. He is Superman. Is it a bird? Is it a play? No, it's a duck. Uh Andy is a naked duck in the middle of the pack there. With Kabu Keith as the surgeon having a little peek at the front, but not quite being able to hold it. We're down to the last 30 seconds. But Sarah Marsden's down at the bottom, still holding it. Shabra's come through to the front in the red duck. Simon Elliott just behind him.

unknown

Sh shh.

SPEAKER_01

Who else is there? See what you buy is still there. Dizzy J. Uh, there's this could be anybody's 20 seconds left. Oh, oh, a load of them are going in the wrong direction now. It's AMPJ. AMPJ is leading the pack. Can he hold it for the next 10 seconds? Alknacks is coming through. Is the Spider-Man duck? Is it Alknacks? No, it's not Alknax. Could it be Tiny Cloud? It's anybody's race. I think it's going to be Tiny Cloud. Well done, Tiny Cloud.

SPEAKER_00

Tiny Cloud wins the duck race. Well done to you. Jess says OBS would prevent the freezing glitch just for you. Yeah. It's fun. It's funny because StreamAd only started doing that about a month ago.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Deb says she forgot to end. So next week, Deb. Next week. So yeah, if you want to be part of that fun and be in for the chance to win just some cheeky little prize that we'll send you in the post, then come over to YouTube and leave us a comment under this week's video. Turn the quacking off. Oh, sorry.

SPEAKER_00

Quacking off. Quacking off. Right, we've got an oh no. We've got an oh no to do. We haven't done oh no's for ages, have we? And we probably have had oh no's.

unknown

Probably.

SPEAKER_00

Just forget them, don't we?

SPEAKER_01

There was a second oh no, and I can't remember what it was.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think there was. There was there was something else. I don't think there was. Right, let's do this one. Bell will tell you about an oh no. Here we go. Oh no. Go on.

SPEAKER_01

Do you know what? I've just realized you know what I think the second oh no was, which we've already talked about, was the missing parcel thing. I don't think that was an oh no. But anyway, yeah, we this the oh no that we've had this week is we took the dog on a little walk up to the beach. Yeah, we're a couple of streets away. And on the way back, uh I went to put my poop in the bin because I'm a responsible dog owner, and there was a bag sat behind or two bags sat behind the bin with CDs or what looked like CDs. So I just said, Oh, Chris, do you want some CDs? And he came over and we didn't check them. We just went, ooh, two bags, picked them up. I think Chris was excited because he felt like he was doing dumpster diving even. Kind of dumpster diving. It really wasn't, but yeah, so we hit like scuttled off down the street back to the house. And when we got back, bizarrely enough, on the way back, you said, Won't it be funny if there's nothing in these?

SPEAKER_00

Not expecting that to be true, because why would there be two bags full of empty bloody CDs?

SPEAKER_01

And when we got back, we opened up about what must have been about 50 CDs, and they were all empty, barring two, and that's because the two were sealed. But outside of that, every single case.

SPEAKER_00

What were the two that were good?

SPEAKER_01

Two the two that were um the Mamma Mia soundtrack.

SPEAKER_00

Yay.

SPEAKER_01

And actually, I can't remember what the it was like it's like an aerobics soundtrack with like three discs in, and it's actually worth about 25 quid. What it is, you never told me that. No, you said I could have it.

SPEAKER_00

What have you done with it?

SPEAKER_01

Listed it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, for God's sake, you kept quiet about that. No, no, it's what's Mamma Mia worth sealed. I've put them both together. Well, no one's gonna want those two.

SPEAKER_01

Well, I just thought I'd put them both together and see, but anyway, no, it's it's one of them. Some people had it up for 25, some people had it up for less.

SPEAKER_00

So, but yeah, out of out of 50, we yeah, we had every single one, other than the sealed ones, every single one was empty. So we had we've got two big bags full of these CDs now. We're gonna have to go to the tip with.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they've gone in our gone in the garage ready for the tip run.

SPEAKER_00

Dumpster diving disaster. Should have videoed it, shouldn't I?

SPEAKER_01

I know, but I said to Chris, even if we had opened a couple and there was nothing in it, we wouldn't have assumed there was nothing in any of them. It just made me laugh. I thought, I bet there's somebody sat in because it's like a little row of houses facing the sand dunes, and I thought they must probably be the ones that have dumped them, and they probably sat at the window waiting for somebody to take them.

SPEAKER_00

Life of Flaner says, I bought a massive job lot of CDs and DVDs at a carboot sale for about three pounds. They were mostly scratched to hell and went in the bin.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, at least at least you had CDs in it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, at least you had something. What a mare, eh? What a mare.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I wonder if crafters use CD cases.

SPEAKER_00

Well, they'll have to go and rifle through the tip if that's the case.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I can't be bothered doing anything else. But on the other side of it, we've done our bit, we've taken some rubbish off the street.

SPEAKER_00

That's true.

SPEAKER_01

There you go. It's in our garage.

SPEAKER_00

We won't do it again.

SPEAKER_01

It was funny to be fair. I did find it hilarious.

SPEAKER_00

Oh my god. Empty, empty, empty. I'm finally out. I'm out of vintage jail. I was in jail for three days. Can't remember if I didn't mention it last week, didn't I? I got a three-day ban on vintage for listing a duplicate item. This seems to be such a common ban that especially pro sellers or people who are resellers who are on vintage seem to be getting. So, yeah, I'm out of it. However, since I've come out, it's been very, very quiet for me on Vintage.

SPEAKER_01

You sold loads while you were in it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Between getting banned and the three days being lifted, I actually sold loads. I think I must have had about 10 sales, and that's a lot for me because my average sale price on Vintage is about£30, so it's quite good sales. So yeah, I sold about 10 items during that three-day period. And then since they lifted the ban, it it's been like tumbleweed. I don't know.

SPEAKER_01

Chris says you saw Dave sent a letter to Vintage MD to complain about vintage algorithm.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's gonna it's gonna go nowhere, isn't it? I would think. I'd be very surprised if anything. Hi, Rhinald. But yeah, so out of vintage jail, we need to get back on it with vintage, really. I've been with the eBay live stuff going on, been a bit lax with it recently. I've listed 14 on there today, or cross-listed from eBay new items. So I know they're not duplicates. One of the tips that I got from a viewer a few weeks ago, can't remember the person, if you're watching, feel free to put your name in. But one of the tips I got to avoid that in the future is when you sell something on eBay and it's also listed on vintage, instead of deleting the item, hide it. Hide it because then the normally the problem arises is if an item gets returned on eBay and then you go to relist it on vintage, forgetting about the fact that it already went on there once. Even if it's been deleted, it's classed to have already been on there. And you try and relist it again or cross-list it, it will recognise that it's already been on there and it will class it as a duplicate. So if you've hidden it, you can unhide it if it gets returned, and therefore you won't create a duplicate. So that's a good little tip, and that's what I'm doing now. Every time I sell something that's cross-listed, I just hide it on vintage. And then after a month or two, after a couple of months, I'll just go through a I'll have a purge and I'll go and delete them all.

SPEAKER_01

Every day's a learning day.

SPEAKER_00

It is, isn't it?

SPEAKER_01

Mm-hmm.

SPEAKER_00

It was a good tip, that was one of the good tips I've had recently.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Jeff said it was Tiny Cloud's second duck race victory. Previously won race 139 back on the 18th of November 2024 with a surgeon duck. God, I love Jeff and his uh numbers. It's so good, isn't it?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Dungeon says it recognises the digital signature in your photos. Use new photos or screenshot the originals.

SPEAKER_00

The problems arise when you use crosslisters. That's the problem because it will like you if you something gets returned on eBay, you're gonna just relist it from the old listing and therefore it'll have the original photos on it, and therefore vintage will recognise those photos has already been on. So when you use cross listers and stuff, right? When you do the screenshot method, when you manually cross-list, it's not such an issue because you're generally re-screenshotting things, you know, you're you're creating a new listing effectively. Um anyway, I think we're pretty much done, aren't we? Hour and 20 minutes, optimum time.

SPEAKER_01

I just wanted to give a shout-out. We don't know what she's called quite. Can you remember what she was called? That the lady that stopped us at the car boom when we were on the towpath.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, yeah, she's Sammy. That's it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I just wanted to give a shout out to Sammy. She um we were walking up the toe bath toe path at um Abacan. And literally, it made me a little self-conscious, but she was like, I heard Belle's voice first, then I saw the dog, then I saw Chrissy's hat, and that's what we're recognised for. My northern my northern swang, Chris, Chrissy's hat and the dog. Uh, but she was lovely, she was she was very nice, and she does say she doesn't really watch live, didn't she? That she always watches back. So if you're watching back, thank you for saying hello. It was lovely to meet you.

SPEAKER_00

There you go. And we're pretty much done, aren't we? Should we do comment of the week to end? Go for it. Um, let me just bring them up. I've actually got two comments this week because I so prefer this to Chat G. Oh dear.

SPEAKER_01

I do.

SPEAKER_00

Uh maybe we should bring Chat G back. Nope. Right. I had a quite a few comments over the last week or so about this whole vintage banning situation. So I thought I'd bring in some a couple of comments, two comments of the week, uh, just about this situation, just to act as a bit of a warning for you guys because vintage bots are going around banning people left, right, and centre, for these relisting issues, duplicate listings, listing too many items when you're not on a pro seller account, all this kind of stuff. So you just need to be careful with vintage. And also, I would say, like, try not to have all your eggs in one basket because if vintage decide to ban you or to kick you off the platform, their their bots seem to just do it, and you've really got very little comeback from it. You know, you can appeal. I've tried appealing to these real these duplicate ones before, and it gets you nowhere. They they just go off whatever their bots find. But so I had two comments about this, so I thought I'd highlight this, and when these comments are done, we will end the show. Let me just get ready so I can be nice and smooth at the end. So, first comment was from Rebecca Davis, and she said, Hi Chris, I got a three-day ban for the same thing yesterday, too. I tried to check if I've listed stuff, but I've got over 300 listings, and with no search facility, that's really important. In your own listings, things get missed, and it's hard to remember what you've listed. They need to have a better way of checking what you've got listed, like eBay. Saying that, I also had a good sales down there too. So just a bit of a reminder from Rebecca, she also got a three-day listing ban. And then also Laura Shark Laura Shark does had a similar comment to make to say, Vinted have gone insane right now. The amount of people I know that are banned, both permanent and temporary, is ridiculous. They really need to sort out their bots, and it does seem to be the bots that are banning people. So I guess the I guess the the lesson is beware of AI. That's it for today's episode. Don't forget to like or make a comment. I always reply to comments. And if you're on YouTube, hit the subscribe button. If you're on one of the audio channels, hit the download button, and we'll see you next time.
