Hello everyone, my name is Jermaine Farrell and welcome to Christian Capsule's Audio Doc. Today we're talking about my book Unclean Spirit. So as you know, probably maybe you don't, but Unclean Spirit Book 2 comes out in April. It's yes, it's a one-year anniversary after book one. However, I want to go back and talk about book one for a second in case some of you haven't read it or maybe you have read it. The reason why I wanted to put this out, that's for any obviously it's for entertainment purposes, but I wanted to use the entertainment medium as a way to uh teach more about realism from the Bible. But it doesn't come across as a teaching medium, it's entertainment, but it's got realism in it. As a matter of fact, I was also kind of fed up with the way uh horror books and movies and things like that go about scaring people because they're they're not real. 90% of the stuff out there is junk, they're not using realism. Um they always have the Catholic Church turn out to be the hero, no, they're not. Um it's just that the scares are usually jump scares, they're trash. The jump scares are trash, and it's just it's a cheap way to scare people. Realism is far scarier, I find. You know, and I like you can't get scared about things that are not um not believable. So that's why I wanted to create an entertainment medium that focuses on realism, but at the same time haunts you and scares you. This book, um, Unclean Spirit, it's a novel, but it's on a shorter end because I have to cope with attention spans of the 2020s. It's not like it was in the 90s and the early 2000s, where people loved reading thick big books and they loved character development. I mean, the book It by Stephen King is a thousand pages, right? It's it's so massive of people enjoy getting into that. Harry Potter books are not small, they're very thick, and people love character building, like the story development, the world building. Now, it seems like people just want to get quick into the action. As a matter of fact, I've been told by some people that my unclean spirit, even though it's on the shorter end of a novel, it still takes a long time to develop stuff, which I find completely remarkable, being that it's so short. So, in this case, what I did with Unclean Spirit was I wrote it more like a script with the action more forefront. I kind of squeezed out all the the the descriptions of things like the desk is made of maple wood, and the sheen of the desk shined in the sun. I took all that out and I just went straight like a script, straight to what I was trying to accomplish per chapter, per line, per paragraph. And that made the book a far more readable in a small format. Uh, I found that it keeps your attention for far longer. I have very little laws in action, you know, just when talking and things happen, a short time later something else is coming up. So when you're reading them from spirit, you may witness times where people are talking and things are building, but rest assured, something's coming around the corner. Now, as far as realism goes, I wanted everything to s to be based off biblical reality. Um, it's hard because realism takes place over weeks, months, years to develop in a world of demons and temptations and things like that. So I had to basically speed it up and condense things into days and hours to keep it entertaining. Now, Mr. Sure, the sins are still real. The temptations are powerful and typical even in our reality today. Um however, I didn't sacrifice on the realism of it at all. I kept it entertaining, but I didn't sacrifice the realism. 90% of the book is biblical realism. From the temptations to the habitual sins, to the way demons haunt sinners, the way demons have dual purposes, and even the way that they're casting cast out. All that is based on realism. Biblical realism. I don't use demon hardly. Um there is words that they're for there's demon, the word demon is in there, but it's it's it's used by the people who have lack of knowledge of what's going on. Um and those same people who have lack of knowledge, uh them the ones that would say exorcism. Um they are saying demons and they're saying other things like that. So I keep the the words that are not in the Bible or the words that everybody knows, I keep that to the unlearned and to the learned. I use unclean spirit, cast out, and phrases like that. I do want to say, as far as characters are concerned, that there is character development. You can't have a story without it. You won't engage with the character, you won't feel weight for the character, you won't feel anything if there's not some sort of character development. So there is some, and some main characters, believe it or not, will make it through uh the series, at least majority of the way through the series, and yes, Unclean Spirit is a series. You heard it for me today. It is a series, and that brings me to book two. I said this is gonna be a series, and the reason is because I wrote I want to develop this as lore. I want to keep the ideas rushing in. What ideas keep rushing in, and I want to keep putting this to paper. So this is gonna develop uh the story into lore. Um plus book two is bigger in scope. I have a bigger story to tell. There are bigger plot lines and more it's more like a um like a detective flare that's been added on top. There's deep mystery that is layered in, and vengeance seems to dominate the narrative. Lastly, I'll say this about book two. It's shorter, it's shorter because I want to keep the action flowing more while giving you more time to flash out the story and more books. I want you to read the story play out in more books. I didn't want to wait two years to go before I release book two. Uh life hits, and I just can't do that. Um, so I'm excited to put this new story out there in a shorter format, in a short story format. Um, so that's that's what we're looking at from book two. It is coming in April, which is again, I'll say, the anniversary of book one, the year, the one-year anniversary of book one. So if you haven't read book one by now, it is a continuation from book one. It's not a it's an all-new story, but it it maintains the characters from book one and the help backstory are kind of important for you to understand. I mean, it's not mandatory, but you kind of want to know going in what's going on with the characters. Uh I've done my best to keep the story up to date with the characters so you kind of have an idea what's going on um without reading it, but you kind of want to read it. Or two, like I said, it's it's it's it's it's it's the biggest story. There's a lot of things going on, a lot of lines, a lot of threads. Um, and that's all I want to talk about for book two.
