Speaker 1:

Hello, wild Moose on tour.

Speaker 2:

So we're staying at Hallward House in like Buckinghamshire, isn't it On the outskirts?

Speaker 1:

of Milton Keynes. I honestly didn't care to.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we're kind of in between Milton Keynes and Buckingham, I think, and we've come here for a little trip away to do some work which we haven't actually done, have a few drinks, which we've done, lots of slept didn't really sleep loads, did we? No, I feel a bit tired. Yeah, I don't feel hungover, I just feel a bit groggy.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I need a good nap.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we were going to go to the spa. Can't be fucked with that Too hot.

Speaker 1:

Going to go Like like grumpy old women, yeah, we are actually, but the sun was shining yesterday, I hugged a tree yes, I found a mother tree in in the grounds.

Speaker 2:

That was beautiful. It's a really nice place, but we feel like there's a funny vibe here, don't we?

Speaker 1:

yeah, I think some weird things have been happening between Amy and I recently and I don't know how I feel about it.

Speaker 2:

Well, it depends on how woo-woo you think about it, doesn't it? Like we feel like there's an energy here and it was really weird because we keep talking and it's like we're thinking exactly the same thing and we're like this is so bizarre. But when we came into our room, like the lights flickered, didn't they? One of the bulbs just went out and it was like we've lost a bulb and then all of a sudden it came back on again, yeah, and then the bathroom light, when you go in there that flickers. The handle kind of moved earlier and I was like I feel weird here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there is a strange energy. There was a straight.

Speaker 2:

We sat at breakfast and I said she got. Nick said to me what, what do you think it? It is, what's what, what do you think it was. Once upon a time I was like I feel like it was a mental institute or something. I feel like there's an anxious energy here.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and it feels weird. It does feel weird. It's a lovely place. We cannot stress enough how beautiful it is. Here it's got a lovely old manor and then like a big extension off the back of it. And it's really really pretty pretty. The staff have been wonderful, but there is this just weird energetic thing that we are both feeling. Well, we are nearly 24 hours into our getaway. How are you feeling?

Speaker 2:

Yeah, we bought a lovely bottle of Bollinger with us, didn't?

Speaker 2:

we, and we found this little sun trap in the garden, and we were like we're going to go and sit here in this garden facing the sun and enjoy our bottle of Bollinger, and it was so peaceful, wasn't it? All you can literally hear is birds and squirrels. The reason we've come is to have a little break business break, wasn't it? We've been talking about this for ages. Yeah, having a little break away from the family, a little break away from the norm, find somewhere you can work from, find somewhere that you don't have to leave like and I feel like this is a really good place for that. Yeah, I want to just do it all the time, though yeah, I want to do it more often.

Speaker 2:

We need two nights. We do need two nights. We're gonna. We're gonna do two nights because you need a night where you have a drink and like be merry, and then you need a day of downtime, chilling out, spa, whatever you want to do, and some work time and then the next night like watch a movie in your, in your pjs, and probably not drink yeah, I feel a bit like we're trying to cram everything in, but it's.

Speaker 1:

It has been lovely. Yeah it has.

Speaker 1:

We're doing something incredible on Monday and I think we should talk about that, if you're happy to oh yes, values, yeah, let's talk about it, yeah so values they are the things that drive us, and I wish that I hadn't have waited until my mid-30s to discover what my values were, because now that I know and understand them, I should actually use them more. But now that I know and understand them and have that self-awareness, I can play on my strengths so much more and do the things that make me happy.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and I think this came because I was thinking about why I get so irritated with suppliers. I'm feeling like, as my business is growing, I'm changing. My path is changing a little bit and I'm conscious of who I spend my quality time with and my circle is getting smaller, and I'm okay. My path is changing a little bit and I'm conscious of who I spend my quality time with and my circle is getting smaller, and I'm okay with that. And I spoke to you, didn't? I was like I really feel there's something in this values. Nick's got this like. It's not a letter, is it? It's just like a piece of paper with your yeah, it's a laminated document with your personal values and your business values. And I had a conversation with you the other day and said like I think you should do this for other people.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Because I've never spoke to anybody, I've never known anybody do values like you do and that you stick with them, and I was like I feel like I need it. Yeah, I feel like I need to know, I know who I am, but I want my values on a piece of laminated paper, like I want to know. What do I stand for and why do I get so pissed off with people? And it's because they don't align with my values. But what the fuck are they?

Speaker 1:

yeah. So I knew that values were important before Andy Rivers did mine for me and did Matt's as well but I didn't really understand how vital they were. And if we think about an iceberg and the bits that you see on top, above the water, the values is everything that's driving the bottom. They're the things that give you purpose. They're the things that push you towards people, push you away from others. It's the same for brands. It's like the essence, yeah, the bit inside that doesn't always need to be communicated, but if you have that self-awareness, you will never. If you're always living to your values, you will never, ever work a day in your life. Yeah, life will feel frictionless and if you are in conflict with your values, it ain't good. But you know you will not know that unless you work on them no, and I done the speaking gig at professional beauty, didn't I?

Speaker 2:

yeah? And at the end this guy stood up and he said I can clearly see that you're very conscious and you have a lot of integrity when it comes to business. That comes through in everything you were talking about and I was like, wow, I didn't even know that. That was a message I was given and that made me kind of think. I want to grow up a little bit. I want to step into that next chapter. I want to know who I am deeply, properly like, as intensely as possible. So when I choose suppliers, I choose the right people with the same values. When I choose friends, when I choose people I spend my time with, we have to.

Speaker 1:

That needs to align, yeah, and I want to shake off the shit yes, so this is actually the exercise that we'll be doing with you on Monday.

Speaker 2:

I'm going to be the guinea pig.

Speaker 1:

You are the guinea pig is. I will be observing. Andy will be running the session, but it's all based on neurolinguistic programming am I going to cry? Nlp maybe and it did come with a warning as well. It does come with a warning because you it may reveal that you are not in alignment or you're in conflict in a big part of your life. It's not.

Speaker 2:

It's not to be taken lightly at all, but this is where people get that square peg round hole feeling from. Isn't it like they're forcing it? Yeah, and a lot of people going into business feel like they're forcing it. Why are they forcing it? And I'm all about authenticity and I bang on about it all the time to anybody that will listen, anybody that is putting themselves on social media, anybody that is doing anything in business. You have to be true to yourself. You have to show up and be authentic. Like this bullshit, this noise, this, everything. I cannot stand and it really boils my piss, which is because it goes against my values, but I don't know what that word is that you know? Yeah, that's part of my values so what?

Speaker 1:

I have obviously had it done. Matt has had it done. I don't know if I've spoken about why on this podcast. Okay. So, um, when I was pregnant with Hope, matt was in interim position at work, a senior position and a lot of our conversations were around money. Because we were about to have hope, because we knew that imminently that would mean more child care, the more cost. I was trying to grow the business but obviously I was about to go on maternity leave for at least a week to push a baby out.

Speaker 2:

But you know like it was it.

Speaker 1:

We were a lot of our conversations, a lot of our communication was about money. Matt was on an interim salary at that point. There was a significant pay rise. He hated it, absolutely hated it, and we and I'm like it's really hard, isn't it in that family environment to go. We really fucking need that money, we really really need that money. And you are saying no, and I have to support you with that. Yeah, because I want you to be happy. Ouch. Yeah, how are we going to find that money? Like what do we do tough? So we spoke to Andy about it and Andy said Matt needs to do his values. So he knows and has the confidence to understand why he feels like this, because if your values are in conflict, they are the things that will cause you to walk away from significant amounts of money. Yeah, and that's exactly what happened so, oh, it's fascinating.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, so I came up with the idea that you guys need to sell this to other business owners, because I think every business owner should do this.

Speaker 1:

Yeah and I agree. I think you do it for your business. I think you do it. I think actually every individual should do it. I think they should teach this at school. It does form part of psychology when you study that, but that's too fucking late by that point as far as I'm concerned anyway, the whole school system is a completely different. But Monday we will be sitting down for two hours, maybe more my values, so he will be. We can talk about it. Should we talk about it afterwards? Yeah, definitely, I'm all.

Speaker 2:

I think this is incredible and I think that people that are leading people need to do this. Yeah, I want to be able to say this is what I stand for. I've got it as my company values kind of like, as a my brand values and what happens in the like from a client's perspective. I've done it from a staff perspective, like who are we as a company? What do we stand for? But me as a leader, me as a mum, me as a wife, me as a friend, me as an auntie, me as a you know, I want that, I want to know that shit. Yeah, so that I can make decisions better, that feel more aligned. And and then I think it will also help me on my goals. Yeah, like I know what I want to achieve, but why? Yes, and what's making me do that? What's my driver?

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so I've got two, as you said, two pieces of paper, one for my personal and one. It's not actually for Wildbird, it's for my professional, so I could pick that up and take that into any role, or pick that up and take that into any business, because this is what I believe.

Speaker 2:

Stick that shizzle on your CV.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, this is who I am, just so you know, yeah, yeah, but the trouble is it doesn't conform to what everyone else wants, does it's an issue. So I'm excited for Monday. I'm really excited. I know how incredible it can be, and we've already done some an element of NLP on you, haven't we?

Speaker 2:

because we know what kind of style you are it feels weird when you guys do that, because it's like, oh, have you seen what she does? She's this, isn't she.

Speaker 1:

So Andy told me the other day. Andy is an advanced NLP practitioner. I have done a little bit of NLP, nowhere to the extent of what he's done, he said. The question to ask them is can you picture your front door? For me, yeah, it's white. Oh, hello, audio. So have I explained this on here? No, so okay, your, everyone can be boxed off into three different areas. They are visual, visual, and I'm pointing to the top. So if you think about this as a circle of your brain, the top is visual because you're going to look. The middle is audio, so you go to listen, and the bottom of that circle is kinesthetic or feeling. So, whether that is, this feels rough or I feel sad. That's that kind of person. So you, your,
