One task that I know is boring, tedious, and something. All business owners put off. Is changing our passwords and updating our security settings. Welcome to the visibility boost. My name is Glen I read and I'm going to be your host. So as a business owner, I know that you have so many tasks, daily tasks, weekly tasks, monthly tasks. And the last thing you want to do is go change your password. Have to remember it. Make all your passwords different set up two factor authentication, et cetera, et cetera. However in today's day and age with a lot of your business being online and those entities, like your website, your email marketing platform, your email. Being so vital to the running of your business. You need to make sure that you are changing your passwords. Every six to 12 months, you need to make sure you're setting up two factor authentication where it's available. And you need to make sure that you're not using the same password for multiple accounts. I know it's easy to just say, okay, I'm going to use this password and change everything. You don't want to do that because that gives hackers an easy in once they figure out the password to one of your items, to all of the others. So as time-consuming as it is, you need to make every password unique. If they say it needs to only be eight characters, I'm actually going to tell you. Most passwords should be between 12 and 20. Characters period. And if possible, upper and lower case numbers and symbols mixed within. An easy way to do it is use a password keeper, like last pass or one pass. And it can even generate new passwords for you. It can run a security check on your passwords to see if any have been compromised. If you're using the same password for anything and you need to switch it. And again, I know, I know that this is tedious. I have a task every December. I go through my 16, most important softwares to my business. And I sit there and one by one, I changed them. But I know I've done it. It actually using the password keeper last pass takes me less than half an hour to do it. And then I just feel that sense of relief that I'm doing my best at keeping everything I can protected. Because trust me. If somebody hacks into your system breaks into your system gets access to it. You are going to spend a lot longer than 30 minutes fixing the problem. And you may be spending quite a few dollars fixing the problem where I think last pass is about$12 a year. So. Mark out some time on your calendar within the next week or two. Write down your 10 to 20 most important software and services that you use for your business. And change all the passwords and then make yourself a note for six months to a year from now. Do it again. Questions feel free to email me@glenysatthevisibilitymethod.com. I'll put my email in the show notes. Thanks for listening.
