As the end of 2024 approaches, it's crucial to take 30 minutes to update your passwords to enhance your business security. Focus on changing the passwords for key aspects such as your website, banking, social media, and tools like Canva. Ensure each password is unique to prevent vulnerabilities. Utilize password managers like LastPass or 1Password to manage multiple passwords and users. Additionally, enable two-factor authentication for added security. This simple yearly task can prevent potential cyber threats and secure your business for the year ahead.

So we're coming up on the end of 2024, and one of the things that I always do at the end of every year is probably something you're going to go, Oh, Gwyneth, I don't have time for that. That's boring. I just can't make time for that. But I'm telling you right now, you need to protect your business. And one of the easiest ways is to change your passwords on a yearly basis. So what I do, one of the final days of the year, usually the 30th or 31st, is I take 30 minutes and I change, it's usually about 20 passwords, and it is my most important ones. The ones to my website, the ones to my banking, the ones to my social media. Canva. You know, sit down and list the most important elements of your business. So, website, banking, social media, things like Canva. If you've got a payroll system, just make a list. And sit down and change the passwords. It took me less than 30 minutes to do it. Last year I changed 20 passwords and I just go into the year feeling a little bit more secure. Now, some things you should be aware. Don't change them all to the same password. I had to have this talk with a client of mine. Every password should not be the same, so your banking password should be different than your social media password. Your Instagram password should be different than your Facebook password. And again, I know you're going to say to me, Glyneth, that's just too much. I can't handle it. There are password managers. Some of the biggest are LastPass and 1Password. But whatever password system works for you, change your passwords. And if there's the two factor authentication that is not set up yet, go ahead and set it up. You owe it to yourself to protect your business, and 30 minutes out of the year is like less than 0005 percent of the entire year. I want you to stop and think about what would happen if somebody stole your website. stole your social media, hacked your banking information. Think about the amount of time you would have to spend dealing with that if that happened when in 30 minutes you can make your passwords more secure every single year. So that is my end of the year tip. Go ahead, block off the time on your calendar. start making a list these next couple weeks as you're using different softwares and decide, Hey, okay, this is what I'm going to need. Your Gmail or Google accounts, another good one. So anything that you use on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis for your business, consider changing the password 2024, and you'll be ready to go for 2025.
