🎙️ Woke-ish Wednesday | Sassy Politics with Christi Chanelle

 Release Date: 04/16/25

Ever felt the backlash for simply telling the truth?

When my TikTok about the SAVE Act unexpectedly hit 500,000 views, the comment section exploded—half love, half hate, and all of it intense. But here's the thing: the truth doesn’t shake people because it’s wrong. It shakes them because it threatens comfort, power, and control.

⚡️ Next Week (04/22/25): Mindf*ck Monday Teaser

New episode drops Monday. Trigger warning: it's the news.

Speaker 1:

Welcome to Woke-ish Wednesday, because the world doesn't stop spinning just because the news cycle moves on. Ever feel like you're waking up from a fever dream and realizing it wasn't a dream, it was just America. Yeah, same Today. On Woke-ish Wednesday, we're slowing down, checking in and zooming out, because while the headlines are loud, the real shifts, the internal ones, they're quiet until they're not.

Speaker 1:

I want to talk about what happens when you go viral for telling the truth and suddenly the trolls, the bots and the scared patriarchy show up in your comments. Let's get into it. I'm Christy Chanel and this is Sassy Politics when the algorithm finds you. When the algorithm finds you. Last Thursday, I posted a TikTok about the SAVE Act, explaining who it targets, why it's dangerous and how it's wrapped in faux patriotism. As of today, over 500,000 views, over 700 new followers and a mix of rage, relief and racist nonsense flooding the comments. And here's what that taught me the minute you disrupt, the minute you disrupt the narrative, they come running. It's not that they don't know what you're saying is true, it's that they're terrified of what happens when more people believe you. But I'm not backing down, and neither should you.

Speaker 1:

Self-censorship is still censorship. For years I played nice I softened my edges. I didn't want to upset family, co-workers or clients. But playing nice doesn't change laws. Playing nice doesn't protect trans kids. Playing nice doesn't protect trans kids. It doesn't defend bodily autonomy, it just makes the powerful more comfortable. So this is your reminder. If you've been silencing yourself to make others feel safe in their ignorance, you're not alone. But your voice matters. Use it loudly, unapologetically, and often.

Speaker 1:

The awakening isn't always beautiful Real talk. Growth is messy. It's painful. Sometimes it means losing people who loved your silence more than your voice. I lost followers when I rebranded. I've lost relationships because I chose to stand in truth instead of inoffensive neutrality. I even had to block family members from my platform, not out of anger but out of necessity, and I'd be lying if I said that didn't hurt. It did.

Speaker 1:

Today it brought me to tears Because choosing yourself doesn't always feel like empowerment. In the moment it can feel like grief, but deep down I know this message. It's not for them, it's for the women like me. It's for the daughters watching. It's for the people finding their voice through mine. And every single day that I choose to keep showing up, I get stronger, even when it breaks my heart a little bit that, knowing inside me the one that says this is your calling. It's louder than fear. Now, and I know this. I will meet others on this journey at a rally, on a live stream in the comments section someday soon. We'll link arms and the advocacy will multiply. This is my learning, my stumbling, my healing, and if I can face the pain of walking away from family, I can damn sure face MAGA. If you're on that path right now, keep going. The people meant for you. They'll find you when you start telling the truth.

Speaker 1:

What woke-ish really means. It doesn't mean you have it all figured out, really means. It doesn't mean you have it all figured out. It means you're paying attention, it means you give a damn, and that's more than most of these politicians can say. Woke-ish is the journey, the questions, the accountability, the courage to get it wrong and keep going. Anyway, you don't have to be perfect, you just have to care. If this episode hit home, I want you to do three things One, share it with someone who needs to hear it. Two, speak up this week, even if your voice shakes. And three, remember that the revolution starts with the decision to show up fully. This is Woke-ish Wednesday. I'm Christy Chanel and you, you're not alone. Love you, miss you. Bye, thank you.
