The Last Song: The Disappearance of Justine Vanderschoot

Chrissy Champagne Episode 69

On September 2, 2003, 17-year-old Justine Vanderschoot disappeared without a trace. Her mother, Lynette, discovered the front door slightly open and Justine’s silver Chevy truck missing, though her purse, dog, and other belongings were still at home. Initially assuming Justine had gone to her boyfriend Danny Bezemer’s house, the family quickly grew concerned when they couldn’t find her. Later that afternoon, Danny called Lynette, revealing that he couldn’t find Justine at work either.

As the investigation began, authorities focused on her relationship with Danny, uncovering issues of control and jealousy. It started becoming clear to investigators that the tragic events that were about to unfold were the result of a toxic teenage romance.
