Janet and I have an insightful conversation from the perspective of the Adoptee. She discusses what inspired her to write her book and that was her own person journey of adoption and finding her birth family. Many times society focuses on the parents that adopt and the birth parent. Janet discusses the importance of the voice of the child. We touch on nature vs, nurture and the desire and the critical basic need to belong, Sometimes love is not enough to overcome  trauma. Many adoptees want to know where they come from to support in building their authentic identity,  We discuss how there have been progress in open adoptions to support children, The importance of collaborative parenting and the need for continued growth, education and support for adoptees.
