August 3, 1913...Now recognized as a California Historical Landmark, the site of Wheatland Hops Riot was the last place 4 men tread...2 workers and 2 lawmen lost their lives in a riot over agricultural laborers working and living conditions. The riot and resulting investigations and trials would highlight the plight of agricultural workers across the state of California and ultimately the nation, serving as a start of reform.
