This podcast is designed to educate those who might not know much about the Church, and to those members of the faithful who may be unaware of the significance of our symbolism and ritual. As Catholics, our funerals serve two different but equally important functions. The first is to offer a chance for a community to share in their grief and support one another. It is a sad time and we often find ourselves in need of comfort.
The second is that we get to celebrate the victory of Christ. Through His death and resurrection we are saved and risen in Him. It is this victory we see in our loved one. It is a time to remember that we will see one another again, by the grace of God.
Fr Hightower joins Nicholas as we explore the communal and spiritual elements of funerals, looking ever to see the light of salvation even in the midst of mourning.
