In honor of the brave soldiers, police officers and all first responders who have fought the battles to keep us free, safe and healthy, Detective Story takes great honor in inviting you to join Detective Hammond for the interview of Mike Marotta, Executive Director of Warrior's Heart.
Warrior's Heart, founded by Josh and Lisa Lannon and Tom and Laurie Spooner, is an organization that dedicates itself to not only ending the heartbreaking number of suicides among our military veterans and first responders but to go beyond and provide treatment, hope and guidance toward fulfilled, joyous lives for those who have dedicated themselves to service and their families.

About Mike:
Michael Marotta is the Warriors Heart Virginia Executive Director. He is no stranger to hard work and family. Married at 19 to the love of his life Dawn, Marotta is a father of 2 sons, United States Air Force Veteran, and former Law Enforcement Officer for almost 2 decades. As a veteran law enforcement officer and USAF combat veteran, Marotta has struggled with PTSD and has unique insights into the difficulties and trauma our protectors often face. His 68th Airlift Squadron supported Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom. And while serving in the San Antonio Police Department, Marotta was a patrol officer, downtown bike patrol officer, crisis negotiator, mental health officer and wellness program coordinator to name a few. Leaving his career in law enforcement was what he would describe as the hardest decision he has ever made. Marotta emphasizes, “We as a healing community have moral responsibility to bring our heroes HOME. We at Warriors Heart will show up every day with kind, caring, compassionate hearts.”
