. They're so bad. And I was like, who wrote these? And they're like, oh, we hired this guy. Um, he's like a digital nomad, and we paid him 10 K to write our email welcome sequences. And I was like, what? Are you kidding me? I was like, I was charging like 300 bucks for an email sequence. And I was just like, I could write way better than this.
Speaker 2: (00:48)
And you're gonna make mistakes.
Speaker 4: (00:49)
You're totally gonna make mistakes.
Speaker 3: (00:51)
I am a big proponent for googling your way to success. I, from the very first business I ever had, the things like how to find clients, like things like that, I've definitely googled my way through most of the early stages of all of the businesses I've run, and there's been quite a collection.
Speaker 5: (01:08)
So what happens is when you don't show that you value yourself, others won't value you.
Speaker 4: (01:13)
Actually, I would say that to anybody who's considering entrepreneurship. It's like, what do you really want? And do you just need therapy
Speaker 2: (01:21)
Raw?
Speaker 6: (01:22)
I'm scared shitless. They're gonna be like, oh, it's this crazy person again. What do they want today? Nothing. Unsubscribe. Wait, can I say that? Of course, I can say that on your podcast. Anyway,
Speaker 2: (01:31)
My podcast, we could say whatever we want to it. Oh my God, will they hate
Speaker 3: (01:34)
Me?
Speaker 7: (01:35)
I thought if I did it right then there would be no problems.
Speaker 8: (01:40)
When Covid happened, it wasn't a huge deal, but obviously my newsletter, it probably wasn't the best time ever in the history of the world to launch a, a paid newsletter. So I started saying, man, what if, what if I can't plug this bleeding and this happens every month, then four months I have zero subscribers. And then I said, well, what are the chances are really actually happening?
Speaker 2: (01:57)
I sucked at that so much. And then know on top of that,
Speaker 4: (02:00)
, can we just be honest? I mean, it's just us and the internet, right?
Speaker 2: (02:05)
And even a little ridiculous.
Speaker 6: (02:08)
I'm gonna get a little Disney princess here for a second. You know, that's nothing new.
Speaker 2: (02:13)
I get so excited about people's potential, and then I just wanna like kick all their anxieties in the base and tell them to go away and like, let this person, let my people shine.
Speaker 9: (02:24)
Your interest can be, you know, reading pink hamsters and somewhere out there on the internet, there will be some other people who are interested in breeding pink hamsters. So, you know, you've got this amazing opportunity to actually be yourself and actually find other people in this huge pool of other humans that are easier than ever to find.
Speaker 4: (02:47)
That was my graduation speech. Thank you. Thank you for coming today. Was that good? Yeah.
Speaker 2: (02:51)
Awesome. Amazing. Sharing our surprises, insights, failures and takeaways, and giving you permission to get out there and kick as you start or grow your own creative business,
Speaker 3: (03:04)
Which is a bit scary. . Yeah, . But you know what? I, it was approved by the government, so apparently it was good enough. And so if you think that you don't know or you're not an expert, trust me that everyone's just figuring it out as they go along. ,
Speaker 8: (03:20)
It just made everything worth it. Like it just made all the, all the clients and jobs that I turned away and all the business that I had put on hold and parts of my development that I put on hold while I was getting all those things set. It just worked out.
Speaker 6: (03:32)
If you ever, ever needed to know that good things can come from following your heart and doing what you think is right as a, a human versus what the marketing gurus say, good things come.
Speaker 3: (03:47)
It's worth, it just is.
Speaker 2: (03:49)
