Speaker 1:

Hi folks. Well, all right, it's the old jarhead. Back again with my podcast be the ultimate, or I will definitely tell you things that you need to hear to have a great career. So it's time to celebrate, right, it's time to celebrate. So you're saying, okay, oh man, what do you celebrate? It's not the Marine Corps birthday. What on earth would you be celebrating now? Well, I'm celebrating that, according to my records at least, this is my 100th podcast. Hard to believe, didn't think when we started this we would make 100, but it's been about two years and I'm telling you what I feel great, I think this is great.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so let's talk a little bit about podcasting, since this is the 100th one. Right? How do I do it? Well, first you think of a topic, kind of outline it, at least in your mind. You know what are you going to ramble about and then record it, process it and post it, and then you track the stats. So let's go over a few of those things here. On the thinking of the topic, that's been the easiest part. After 40 years of leadership, mentoring and career coaching, it's not hard for me to think about something I feel should be passed on to the listeners. Sure, some of you have probably heard before some of the things that I talk about, but from the feedback I get, plenty of folks find new and, more importantly, useful information for their professional success. So that's it. Topics are easy, but if you have one that you'd like me to take on, please either email me at Dennis Guzik at Dennis Guzikcom Both of those are one word or message me on LinkedIn and I'll see if I can't cover that.

Speaker 1:

Okay, so recording the podcast started out as a pretty straightforward task. First you need specific sort of software and then you need a decent microphone. But on the first one the app proved to be more work that and less quality than we want it, so switched over to one called Elite 2 and that's been much better. It's easier to use and less expensive, and I always like less expensive. So that's what you're hearing right now.

Speaker 1:

Now, the most difficult part of this whole thing was the processing. So my wife, who was my boss, had the job and at first it took her hours to clean up my rambling, then add intro and exit music and, in general, just make it better, more professional. But since we have learned that folks just don't care if the recording isn't grammatically correct or if there's a few ohms or ahs in there, it's the message, not the medium, that counted the most. Good lesson learned in a lot of other areas as well. So thankfully, we adjusted our process, then switched over the app to Elite 2 and the processing became much easier. She could out, process my ramblings in minutes and have it posted to my podcast host right away. And finally there's this thing called stat tracking.

Speaker 1:

That is a lot of fun, okay, not only to see the number of folks increasing, but listen to the podcast and I got to thank you guys who tell your friends about the podcast. It's great to see that's. That's how the growth happens but to see that I got worldwide distribution now. I now have listeners not only in America but Europe, asia, south America and Africa. Crazy, ain't it, that they would listen to the old jarhead just rambling around, but apparently they do and they get something out of it. The thought that I might be helping folks have better careers all around the world is very rewarding. So thank you to all those listeners and please keep passing on about my podcast.

Speaker 1:

Well, anyhow, time to wrap it up. Wrap up this 100th episode. I'd like to say that if you're thinking about doing a podcast. Jump in, it's really a lot of fun and you'll be surprised at how far your message might reach. And finally, thanks to all my listeners and thanks to Ellen for doing this. I know there have been weeks where, due to health issues, we have not recorded what. You stuck with me and I very much appreciate it. So any end, semper Fi, thank you, and let's see what the next 100 podcast bring Bye.
