Welcome to the Go Big with Gibb podcast, where we talk to professionals, business owners and entrepreneurs about their big wins. Hey guys, gibb Irons here. Host of the Go Big with Gibb podcast. Welcome to the show today. We are recording right after the Christmas holiday.
Speaker 1:If you're like me, you're probably guilty of overeating over the holidays. You haven't gotten enough rest and your brain is just not functioning at 100% like you typically do during the normal part of the year. So, to get back on track after the holidays, do these five things. The first thing is to eat clean Over the Christmas holidays. I know most families have a ton of candy and sugar all sorts of things laying around For the next week. I'm urging you to commit to eat clean, no sugar, for the next week. Eat your proteins and your healthy carbs, but avoid sugar for the next week. I'm going to start doing this immediately to increase my brain power and my cognitive ability, but also to make myself feel good where I have a boost of energy. The second thing that I recommend that you do is hydrate. Every day, aim to drink one gallon of water. Drinking water like this helps your body to get rid of all the toxins and can be extremely healthy. If you haven't been drinking water like this, it may cause you to run back and forth to the restroom repeatedly. But remember you're getting rid of all these negative toxins.
Speaker 1:Number three exercise daily. A lot of times this time of year, you know it's cold outside. It may be too cold for you to get out and do your outdoor cardio. Maybe you're the type of person that likes to do a walk or a run. If it's too cold outside, you know. Jump on the treadmill at the house or go to the gym. Go ahead and get some form of exercise in every day for the next week. What I've been doing recently is I like to run one mile and I run about a 10 minute mile. It's nothing extraordinary, but I get my running clothes on and I run one mile without stopping, and it takes me about 10 minutes. After that I can jump in the shower and get back to the office or get back to whatever it is that I'm doing, and just that 10 minutes of running gives me a huge boost for the entire day.

And the fourth suggestion is to monitor your sleep. I function best when I get at least eight hours of sleep, but over the next week I'm going to focus on getting an extra hour every day. So instead of my typical eight hours of sleep, I'm gonna aim for nine hours of sleep. Even though we've all been at home and we've been resting and spending time with family, sometimes that can be just as exhausting as working, especially when you're not doing all the other things on this list.
Speaker 1:And the fifth suggestion that I have for you is about creating a budget. Print all of your bank statements and credit card statements for 2024 and go through them with a highlighter and highlight all the expenses that you feel like were really large expenses and then determine was it worth it. You know that really expensive vacation that you took. Was it worth it? And if it was not worth it, don't repeat the same mistake again.
Speaker 1:There's no better time to create a budget than now. We're right here getting ready to start a new year. Now is the time to sit down and really think about your budget. All of us have a relationship with money. How we manage that relationship is going to dictate other things like how much time we have to spend with family. Those are my five tips to get you back on track after the holidays. Happy New Year, thank you for joining us today and I look forward to seeing you next time.
