Ep 85. The Power of Change: Break the Burnout Cycle Before it Breaks You
Burnout isn't something that happens to us; it's something we allow by tolerating the intolerable in our lives. This episode challenges you to identify what you're accepting that's slowly breaking you down and take specific, measurable steps to change it.
• Signs of burnout include canceling family events for work, constant fatigue, and feeling successful on paper but emotionally exhausted
• The life you're tolerating is costing you the life you really want
• Sunday scaries that start on Saturday indicate you're living a life that's not aligned with your values
• Take inventory of what you're tolerating—whether it's health issues, financial pressures, or absence from your family
• Set specific, measurable goals instead of vague aspirations
• If you don't change what's burning you out, it will change you—affecting your health, marriage, and relationship with your kids
• Take extreme action now to avoid paying an extreme price later

Right, it sounded like you knew what you were talking about. That's good, good bullshitter. Yeah, I'm going to read the title sign the power of change. Break the burnout cycle before it breaks you. Welcome back to this episode of Go Big with Gibb, the show where we challenge the status quo, crush limiting beliefs and design your life, the life that you were meant to live. I'm Gibb Irons.
Speaker 1:Today's episode is personal. It's about change, not the kind of change that happens slowly or by accident, but the kind that happens because you refuse to keep living on autopilot. Let me ask you a question have you ever canceled a family vacation? Have you canceled a family vacation lately because work got in the way? Or are you constantly tired physically, mentally, emotionally but too scared to hit pause? Do you look successful on paper but feel like you're one step away from having an emotional breakdown? If you answered yes to any of these questions, this episode is for you, because here's the hard truth the life you're tolerating is costing you the one thing you really want.
Speaker 1:We all know what burnout feels like the Sunday scaries that start on Saturday, the endless to-do list, the 10-hour work days that bleed into your evenings, weekends and kids' birthdays. You're running on fumes. You're crushed under the weight of expectations and you keep telling yourself that one day it'll slow down, one day it'll get better, one day you'll have time. But one day isn't coming unless you make a change. So today I'm challenging you to take inventory. What are one or two things that you're tolerating in your life that are slowly breaking you down? Maybe it's your health the dad bod that snuck up on you while you were out chasing billable hours or quarterly bonuses. Maybe it's debt the financial pressures that keep you trapped in golden handcuffs. Maybe it's that lie that you can't say no to work because you're the provider. Maybe it's that lie that you can't say no to work because you're the provider, even if it means being absent from your own life.
Speaker 1:Whatever it is, I want you to name it, write it down and then do one simple thing Set a specific, measurable goal to change it. Not, I want to get in better shape. Instead, try, I will work out four days a week and lose 15 pounds by Thanksgiving. Not, I want more freedom. Try, I will generate $5,000 per month in passive income by the end of this year, so I can take every spring break with my kids without checking email once. Here's the truth. If you don't change it, it's going to change you. Your health will suffer, your marriage might fracture, your kids will remember the job more than they remember you.
Speaker 1:So take that extreme step forward, attack what you've been tolerating, because this show isn't called Go Small with Gibb, it's Go Big. Big action, big results, big change. And it starts today. If this hits home with you, do me a favor Share this episode with someone who needs to hear it and then get to work, because your future self is counting on you. Until next time, I'm gib irons. Go, take your life back and go big. Yeah, that was cool, right, I said like make it a.
