But when you're talking to a 12-year-old, those answers don't sound nearly as convincing. What she really was asking was, if you've worked so hard all these years, why aren't you with us at the beach? And honestly, I didn't have a response. Because she was right.

for? This year I decided to make a change. Fridays are off because I finally realized that freedom isn't something that starts someday. Freedom is something you have to choose. So now on Fridays during the summer, the phone goes in the drawer, the emails can wait, the portfolio can run without me for a day. And my kids get the version of me that isn't distracted, stressed, or thinking about the next meeting. They get dad. You know what's funny? Nothing broke. The law firm is still there, the investments are still there, the opportunities are still there. The world kept spinning, and that taught me something.

Don’t Build Freedom And Ignore It

A lot of people spend decades chasing financial freedom, but when they finally get it, they don't use it. They keep working exactly the same way they did before. They keep checking their phones, they keep chasing the next deal. They keep telling themselves they'll slow down later. Next year, the next raise, after the next investment. The milestones never stop. There is always another mountain to climb, another goal to hit, another dollar to earn. If you're not careful, you'll spend your whole life building freedom and never actually enjoying it. We tell ourselves we're sacrificing today for tomorrow, but tomorrow eventually becomes 20 years. And one day you wake up and realize the kids are grown, the games are over, the beach trips are memories. The opportunities you were trying to create for your family are still there. Wealth Means Choices Use Them
