King’s Perspective Outro

Speaker 1:

All right, it's the King's Perspective. Welcome back. This is King Chill. Episode 17,. Week 17, consistent. Again, I know I like to go into my little tirades here of I can't believe I did this for this long consistently. You know, by episode three I thought this was the end. Yada, yada, yada. So we're not going to do all that this time, they're just going to go and start the episode. But I would be remiss if I didn't at least mention that it has been week 17,. Episode 17. Consistent. No, no, no breaks all gas.

Speaker 1:

But again, for anyone that's listening to this right now, just want to send a shout out to you and only you. I appreciate you coming out and checking out this episode weekly. I mean, there's a lot of other podcasters out there that are probably doing the same thing, but better, but you are taking the time to listen to little old me. You find my information insightful, informative and just overall entertaining, I suppose. So because of that, thank you.

Speaker 1:

And with that being said, let's go ahead and get into the show, as we always do, starting with film. So what's popular in the world of cinema? Here are some of the notable movies that have garnered attention recently Monkey man, an intriguing film with a score of 7.3 out of 10. Godzilla vs Kong the New Empire a thrilling monster showdown with a rating of 7.3 out of 10. Godzilla vs Kong, the New Empire a thrilling monster showdown, with a rating of 6.5 out of 10. Dune Part 2, the continuation of the epic sci-fi saga, rated PG-13 and highly acclaimed, with a score of 8.8 out of 10. Now, of those three films, I have yet to check out any. Just scheduling wise. Things are just crazy.

Speaker 1:

But if I were to pick and say, all right, which one am I going to watch first, let's put it in order, let's do that way. I would say Doom, not just because of score rating, but from what I have seen on X. People have been talking about it and they said that it is a step up from the first Dune. That was back in, I think, 2021. Yeah, so I would have to check that one out first. Then I would probably check out Monkey man, which I've heard was pretty decent, and then Godzilla vs Kong, as I affectionately titled it, the Kaiju buddy cop film. The last Godzilla vs Kong wasn't bad, but just looking at this one here, it's just a continuation and, like I said, that last one, it was just okay. So this one and I got through it.

Speaker 1:

So it's kind of like, I said, the continuation of the last film, more of the same a little bit. But this time it's like Kong and Godzilla know who the enemy is, so they go directly towards that enemy, opposed to hey, let's fight each other first because I don't like you, because you're different. Well, you don't like me because I'm different, and I squab it out. And then somewhere in the middle of them beating the crap out of each other, they were like, oh wait, wait, wait, wait, we need to stop. It's not us, there's actually someone else in the midst that we need to be fighting. Let's go tackle that. And then whatever beef we have brewing, let's put it on hold. So yeah, like I said, you're not getting that this time, you're just getting them to basically call a truce and fight this new emerging boss. So again it would be Dune Monkey man and then Godzilla vs Kong.

Speaker 1:

But I've got some newly released films here for you to check out and we have Ministry of Ungentlementally Warfare. The film is set during World War II and centers around Special Operations Executives or SOE, covert British organization formed in 1940 at the incision of the Prime Minister Winston Churchill. The SOE mission was to conduct espionage and sabotage organizations in the Nazi-occupied Europe. These darling operations significantly contribute to the Allied victory over Nazi Germany and laid the groundwork for modern-day black ops and irregular warfare. So you've probably seen the trailers already, with Henry Cabell and a slew of other hosts, but this film is coming out this week. It's going to be action packed blood guts, with a side of comedy added to it. So if it's something that you're looking for For a war piece or a time period piece of film, this is right up your alley.

Speaker 1:

Back with Zack Snyder here With Rebel Moon Part 2. The Scargiver the film continues the epic saga of Korand, the surviving warriors. They prepared to sacrifice everything, fighting alongside the brave people of the Valdet, a once peaceful village that has become their newfound home land. Their mission is to defend Valdet against the formidable forces of the Motherworld. The warriors face their past, revealing their motivations as they stand united to crush the growing rebellion. I still have yet to watch Rebel Moon Part 1. I got to get around to it so that I can understand Rebel Moon Part 2 when it does drop this week. But yeah, it seems to be a decent film and anything usually Zack Snyder directs or has some type of creation behind, is pretty good 300.

Speaker 1:

I was just talking to my fellows from our culture as we see it, notably Green Lantern, and I Am Godson about Zack Snyder's direction for Watchmen. There we go and how that was a good superhero film and both of the guys really didn't have any complaints about it. They felt like the film was able to give character growth, development and give a good backstory and a present and future. So I would say with this film and the prior film of Rebel Moon, I'd just give it time with Zack Snyder. Usually you don't see the vision right away. It's usually after the fact with him that you respect his, not respect respect his films, usually after.

Speaker 1:

Then we have another film that's going to be out this week called Hard Miles. A strong-willed social worker at a youth prison assembles a cycle team of teenage convicts and takes them on a transformative 1,000-mile ride inspired by the life of Greg Townsend and the Ridgeview Academy cycling team. This is the story of how these troubled youth found another gear. Pushed to the limit, they discover resilience, camaraderie and hope during their arduous journey, during their Adiris journey. So that ends some of the key films that you can look out for this week. Now we're going to get into films from the past, with films with great replay value Ace Ventura when Nature Calls.

Speaker 1:

After a failed rescue mission in the Himalayas, ace Ventura experiences an emotional breakdown and seeks solace by becoming a Tibetan monk. However, he is soon approached by Felton Greenwall, a British correspondent working in the fictional African country Nibia. Greenwall asks Ace to find a secret bat called Shakaka, which holds immersed significance for the Wachuti and Wachatu tribes. Whenever its name is spoken, the tribesmen must bow. Yeah, so that film.

Speaker 1:

I don't really remember Ace Ventura the first one too much, but when Nature Calls, when that one dropped, I was more of age and actually can hone in, and I do remember a lot of the jokes about the shakaka. For the bat, guano, when he actually thought it was a dip but it was actually bird. No, not bird, but it was actually bird. No, not bird, but bat droppings. His battle when he got in the ring with the African warrior, who actually was a bit of a cameo. The warrior that he faced off against was an actual in living color alumni, tommy Davidson, which was funny to see him battle off against him. Him, I think also in that movie was when he got trapped inside the fake rhino and then the tourists saw what they thought was the birth of a rhino and it was actually Ace crawling out of the rhino because it had malfunctioned and everybody that was sitting along waiting for the birth to see a human pop out made everybody just like freak out. But yeah, it had a lot, a lot of memorable moments in that film. That was great, probably by far the best Ace Ventura film. I'm going to get you sucking Now.

Speaker 1:

This is another one that's a throwback, but coming from another alumni of In Living Color. Actually the creator and producer, kenan Henry Wayans, almost butchered his name. So the synopsis on this one is Jack Spade, a soldier, returns to his old ghetto neighborhood in any ghetto USA after his brother, junebug, dies from an overdose of gold chains. Yes, you read that right. Jack is appalled by the impact the flashy accessories have on the community. Determined to set things right, he not only seeks justice for his brother but also, uh, aims to save the entire neighborhood. Um, a few takeaways on this film. Um is Chris Watt, chris, oh man, I can't even get out, I'm getting too excited.

Speaker 1:

Chris Rock in that film, um, showing up making a cameo. He was a bit of an unknown but um, playing the role of a um, a bit of a bargain man when he goes into a restaurant and, if I remember correctly the two characters that were in there I can't remember their name, but I know it was portrayed by Isaac Hayes and Jim Brown. So Chris Rock's walking up to the counter asking how much it is for a combo meal, and that seemed too expensive for him. So then he's bargaining how much is it for just the ribs? Well, how much is it just for the rib? And he cut it into three portions Well, how much is it just for one rib? And then he said how much is it without the barbecue sauce? And then he said how much is it without the barbecue sauce? Well, how much is it just to lick it? And then dude's like OK, are you actually going to buy something in here or are you going to get out? So then Chris Rock says something else and the guy's just like whatever? And then Chris Rock was like well, how much is this for a soda? So he's going to buy the soda and pulls out a wad of cash and asked the dude do you got to change? I think it was for like a 20. And the dude was like get out of here. So it was like you literally tried to bargain me or lowbrow me to sell you at the lowest price and you got money Like it made no sense.

Speaker 1:

Let's see Antonio Vargas. If you remember him, he's from Starsky and Hutch, as I want to say, was Hucky Bear, yeah, and he's in this film too and he's basically kind of playing the same role as an informant slash fly guy no, that's what they call a fly guy and he's playing this cool guy. One of the most memorable scenes is he was that dude back in the day, but you fast forward to at the time of the film being made late 80s, early 90s. His style of dress and how he walked and tied is no longer a thing. So he makes the honest effort to dress up like he used to back in the 70s, right, and he comes out walking down the street and, like this pimp get up with a top hat and platform shoes. And I kid you not, these platform shoes have fish in them. And I kid you not, these platform shoes have fish in them.

Speaker 1:

So he's walking down and he can hear everybody talking about his style and his get up and some of the, some of the comments that I'm trying to remember was like oh, you know he think he all that. Look at him, where is? Is he? Where is he going? Um, does he know he has an aquarium at the bottom of his shoes? Um, that must be his dinner. Uh, what else? What else? What else? Um, oh, because this platform shoes were so high. They was like oh you really up there, do you get nosebleeds up there? And like, the whole time he's trying to hold his head up, trying to act all cool, nonchalant, but it's like, literally, I think he got like maybe a block down the way and his shoe I want to say it was the right shoe bust, so all the fish and water come out. And then he's still trying to play it off, walking it off, playing cool, but it's like people start laughing, pointing at him. This man literally had to literally run with one foot on the ground and the other one on the platform as fast as he could and dart around the corner to the left. I was like man, keenan, ivory, wayans, where do you come up with this stuff? So those are two memorable parts, but there's more in there. But those, to me are always my favorite when I think about the film we're going to move on to, forrest Gump.

Speaker 1:

The synopsis here is a simple man with an IQ of 75, but good intentions, takes us on an extraordinary journey through American history. Born in Greenbow, alabama, forrest faces numerous challenges, including wearing a leg brace as a child. However, his supportive mother, unwavering love and encouragement, propels him forward. I'll probably say by far I think I've talked about it before with Tom Hanks probably one of his best films. I mean, he's made a lot of films but you know, some people say big. I think I said Turner and Hooch, but I definitely said or Castaway.

Speaker 1:

But I would be remiss if I did not talk about Forrest Gump. I think it literally was probably by far when you think of films that when they take you on a journey it has a beginning, middle end and and some some flashbacks to tie to. You know the past as well for the story. But I mean that film to me and I could be wrong, correct me if I'm wrong but I feel like that was perfectly written the way that story was. I don't feel like there's too many plot holes, maybe with the timing, with certain things. But other than that to me. I feel like it's probably one of his best films. We've all, probably at this point, seen Forrest Gump, so there's really not too much I need to really get into with Forrest Gump. But other than that, his unwavering love for Jenny that made that man go all the way around the world until he finally got her. And then by then it was too late, but at least I guess for him, you know, he'd rather have something than nothing, but again, the film was great.

Speaker 1:

All right, now we're going to move on here to music and famous musicians from South Dakota, the indigenous. This blues rock group, formed in 1998 by brothers Mateo Najee and Wee Ayo, has masterfully I probably butchered his name, that's why I'm laughing masterfully blended South Dakota's rich cultural history with blues rock influences. Their unique sound incorporates traditional Native American chants and melodies and gaining international recognition and building a dedicated fan base. Haley Bonner Born in Brandon and raised in Rapid City, haley Bonner is an indie folk artist whose beautifully crafted tunes draw inspiration from expansive landscapes of South Dakota. Her music resonates with an impactful songwriting and reflects her informative years spent in the state. And then, lastly, here, closing it out, sean Colvin. Although born in Vermillion, sean Colvin gained fame as Grammy award-winning musician. Her folk rock song Sunny Came Home in 1997 remains one of her most iconic works.

Speaker 1:

When I was looking at this and then when I heard that song well, not heard that song, but I saw the name of the song then it triggered for me, like I honestly remember what that song was called. Well, I mean you know reading, you know what it's called, but I mean it triggered the song automatically. It was like oh yeah, I remember that song. I remember hearing it played on like all the pop stations when I was growing up in Iowa that particular song came on most of the time. So I'm definitely familiar with that song and then now it's good to know how to put the name with the song.

Speaker 1:

Here's some recent developments in music. The rise of lo-fi hip hop and chill beats has created a soothing niche of lo-fi hip-hop and chill beats has created a soothing niche. These tracks often accompany studying sessions, relaxation or meditation. Their minimalist production and calming melodies resonate with the wide audience. Now, if you just heard me go silent, it's because I was letting the music play in the background. That's lo-fi Hip-hop. So, like it says, it's good for study sessions, relaxation and meditation and also podcasting. They forgot to add that to the list.

Speaker 1:

The pandemic accelerated the adaptation of virtual concerts. Artists perform live online, connecting with fans globally. Vr concerts and interactive experiences are also gaining traction. So yeah, when 2020 hit, bad artists still wanted to make money. Fans still wanted to see the artist. They found some kind of way to get around some of that and hold concerts. That's where you just basically plug in and still kind of pay not as much to a website and watch the artist perform. You're starting to see it a lot now with NPR's tiny desk I'm trying to think of but you're not seeing it now. Everything that's kind of back open with the virtual concerts. But, like I said, with NPR's Tiny Desk, it's still kind of one of those things where it's still going.

Speaker 1:

I remember it was a big thing, not as far as musician concerts, but WWE they had it to where you would log into the website and watch the wrestlers wrestle. I remember it was a big thing, not as far as musician concerts, but WWE they had it to where you would log into the website and watch the wrestlers wrestle from a certain stadium, especially, I think, when they were doing their Royal Rumbles and WrestleManias as well, it was a wild time, man. It was a wild time to see all that, but you know you got to make it work. You got to work around it, man. The grind don't stop right, it says here.

Speaker 1:

Musicians use platforms to address social issues. Lyrics tackle topics like mental health, climate change, social injustice. Artists aim to inspire change and foster empathy. So you're seeing that a lot now, where more artists are being socially conscious, not to say that certain, it hasn't been a thing. You know. You can take this back to days like Bob Dylan, bruce Springsteen, curtis Mayfield, marvin Gaye let's see who else. Um, marvin Gaye, um, let's see who else. Um, let's see the Message. Uh by um. I'm probably gonna butcher this and I should know. I just wanna make it. Just hold on with me. Uh, grandmaster, um, um, grandmaster, uh, oh, my goodness, I'm butchering Grandmaster and the Furious Five. I'm just gonna say it like that. I should know it and I'm butchering Grandmaster and the Furious Five. I'm just going to say it like that. I shouldn't know it and I'm butchering it. Please don't hold it against me, but when they came out with the message, that was socially conscious. And then, since then, you've had artists like Nas, you've got artists like Kendrick Lamar in the hip-hop scene. They're very socially conscious Kanye with, I remember to me I think his first socially conscious track would have been Diamonds from Sierra Leone Definitely kind of brought home the knowledge about blood diamonds in Africa and those mines, knowledge about blood diamonds in Africa in those mines.

Speaker 1:

So it made you start thinking about when you start buying things, being more socially conscious and not supporting the machine that was, you know, having these mine workers being killed if they didn't work and produce diamonds. So they were asking for conflict-free diamonds at the time. So at that time that was 2005,. 2006 is when Kanye started making that aware, at least in the hip hop scene. I mean, it was already there, but when he found out about it and he blew it up on a hip hop scene and then that really grew in the urban community. Now I don't know if that's still a thing where people are conscious about when they buy diamonds, if they're like, hey, are these conflict free? You know, but I know then it was, um, what's trending in music today? Uh, we have beautiful things by vincent boone, like that future metro boomingomin' in Kendrick Lamar, and let's just say, ever since that track dropped, the hip-hop scene has not been the same because essentially Future has beef with Drake.

Speaker 1:

So Drake instills or enlists Kendrick Lamar, who didn't necessarily have beef with Drake that we knew about, but when he hopped on this track he made it be known. It was very subliminal, but he talked it in such a way you kind of decode it was about Drake, right. Then you have J Cole come out with a track called Seven Minute Let me make sure I get this correct, because I got it here in front of me Seven Minute Drills which I thought that's what it was called where he's addressing Kendrick Lamar based off of like that, but it wasn't really going hard at Kendrick. He actually also was kind of apologizing while in that song to Kendrick a bit by dissing Right. And then he comes out about a couple of days later when he's at his Dreamville Fest in North Carolina saying, hey, man, I really didn't meaning J Cole, I didn't really want to put that diss record out to my boy I hope he doesn't take a slight at it meaning Kendrick Lamar, so I'm going to go ahead and take that song off all streaming platforms. Then shortly after that, about a few days later, then Drake drops.

Speaker 1:

And Drake drops his diss record where he's going at everybody that's basically had a beef with him A$AP, rocky, kendrick Lamar, future. Let's see Rick Ross, metro, who's the producer. He basically told dude, shut up and make drum beats. I don't want to hear nothing from you. You're not a rapper. So if anybody that's had beef with him, it was addressed in a song that just dropped the other day. Man, it's been crazy. But then the funny thing is Rick Ross, literally about an hour or two after Drake dropped his diss record, he dropped his and he went in as well and it was nasty. So that like that.

Speaker 1:

The reason why I had to give backstory on that and talk about it is just one song has fueled a rap WWE entertainment for the last couple of weeks Texas Hodel by Beyonce. We Can't Be Friends. Wait For your Love by Ariana Grande. I Like the Way you Kiss Me. By Artemis Too Sweet by Josie Ayer. End of Beginning by Dojo Magnetic. By Illet Lose Control by Teddy Swims. And then again we have another new entry, but by the same artist here by two most wanted Beyonce and Miley Cyrus. So that concludes music.

Speaker 1:

I'm going to get over here to sports. So for the MLB, we have Jackson Holiday, the son of former MLB outfielder, matt Holiday, has made his big league debut with the Orioles After nearly two years of anticipation. This marks a memorable day for him and his family and Baltimore Oriole fans. Carlos Correa of the Twins stunned the Dodgers fans by throwing an absolute seed to nail Shohei Hatone at home plate. His defensive play was pivotal in the moment of the game. Cal Raleigh stepped up for the Mariners, hitting a 10th inning home run against the Blue Jays. This victory was much needed for the Seattle after a tough road trip. All right now the NBA road trip. All right Now the NBA.

Speaker 1:

The 2024 SoFi NBA playing tournament is set to include teams with the seventh through 10th highest winning percentage in each conference. Mark your calendars for April 16th and night through the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th. Sorry, I didn't get those dates correct. The Denver Nuggets are vying for a top spot in the Western Conference. Check out the latest playoff scenarios and standings. So right now it's concluded. All the teams are pretty much set and booked Now. Denver was eyeing for the top spot what they mean number one seed and that has been sadly taken by the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have the number one seed in the West. And then Trae Young is back in action for the Atlanta Hawks after missing games since February 23rd. He'll be in the crucial role in their SoFi play-in tournament seed. So it looks like last time I checked, you have on Tuesday, for the West, the New Orleans Pelicans facing the Los Angeles Lakers for the play-in, and then the Atlanta Hawks are going to be going off against whoever the lowest seed is as well, either above them or below them, so that they can stamp or cement their playoff spot as well. Playoff spot as well.

Speaker 1:

Let's see the Viking. General manager Kawasi Adafo-Minsa is prepping for all scenarios in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Titans offensive coordinator Nick Holes sees running backs Tony Pollard and TyJay Spears as interchangeable, both playing crucial roles in the team's offense. And then Bears defensive end Montez Sweat vows to return the tide against the Packers this year. He's not willing to lose to Green Bay. So yeah, that's kind of one of those rivals between Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. That's always a storied rivalry and it looks like probably for the last few years Green Bay's been the best of them. And then for the NHL we have Connor McDavid is currently day-to-day and might miss the upcoming game against the Vegas Golden Knights. He's currently third in the race for Art Ross Trophy with an impressive 130 points. Las Vegas Golden Knights despite facing injuries, the Golden Knights are still pushing forward as the playoffs draw near. And then, lastly, unfortunately, jack Hughes will undergo a season-ending shoulder surgery. Okay, so that closes out the topics there. So you know, if you're abreast with sports and you know I touched on some of your topics, some of these teams that you're familiar with, yeah, you can definitely go back and find all those through ESPN.

Speaker 1:

Now on the television, here are some of the current popular TV shows that viewers are enjoying. Ripley, a limited series for 2024. This opulent black and white adaptation of Patricia Highsmith's Ripley features a captivating performance by Andrew Scott. The story revolves around an insidious social climber. Gentlemen in Moscow limited series of 2024. Stars Ewan McGregor Shines in this whimsical portrait of a life blossoming under constructing criticism. The series is both rewarding and delightful.

Speaker 1:

And then Sugar, season one, 2024. A modern, nowhere steeped in classic tradition. Sugar features Colin Farrell Cool performance. While it could use stronger clues, its ample style keeps things compelling. Now also for Colin. I don't know, I had to take a look at it, but this series here. He's got this one, but I'm not sure if it's going to be this year or the top of next year. But I know he's got the Penguin series that's based on DC Comics Batman, rogues, gallery, villains, penguin he's got that as well, where it's going to be an origin story where it's just all about Penguin navigating through the crime syndicate of Gotham. So it'll be interesting to see if that film not film, but the TV show is being premiered this year or at the top of next year.

Speaker 1:

And then here are some newly released television shows that you might find interesting Fallout, prime Video this video game turned TV series stars Ella Burnell, walton Goggins almost butchered his name. It was originally scheduled to release on April 12th, but they actually premiered it on Wednesday at 6 pm. Now, if you're familiar with the Fallout series and it's a video game, then again this is essentially like a video game, but just on the TV. So, essentially, instead of them making a video game, which would be a next installment, which would be Fallout 5, they said, hey, you know what, let's just make a series here and go from there. But overall though, the series had I believe it was eight episodes, all great, all captivating, keeps you engaged, intrigued. So essentially, I can't wait for season two, whenever that drops.

Speaker 1:

The Sympathizer, featuring Robert Downey Jr and Hoa Akstum, premieres on Sunday or premiered on Sunday, so it's already out there. And then quite on the set, the dark side of kids TV, an intriguing show that delves into behind the scenes world of children's television so that has already premiered. But what they did was they had a special edition that they premiered as well, a special edition that they premiered as well, where they brought back some of the kids and did some more interviews. So essentially it's like a bonus episode. So certain things that didn't make the Cutting Room 4, they're discussing there or discussing more things in depth. All right Now television shows with great replay value.

Speaker 1:

We have heroes. The show revolves around ordinary people who become as they discover their possessed superhuman abilities and explore how these abilities impact their lives as they come together to prevent a catastrophic future. They come together to prevent a catastrophic future. These lives of the individuals intertwine as they realize they have special abilities, including telekinesis, healing, flying time, travel, invincibility the next best thing to seeing like DC or Marvel characters, like Almost Mutants, on screen where you could kind of watch that show and get your fix If you're, you know jonesing for, like you know, something like X-Men for the most part. I remember it went off for a little while. Then they did a say it was a reboot but they brought it back. But then it was kind of short-lived.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, who almost butchered, that is about a street-smart teenager from West Philadelphia. After getting into a fight with some thugs while playing basketball, his mother sends him to live with his wealthy relatives at Bel Air Mansion in Los Angeles, california, with his extended family. So I wasn't really a big fan of Fresh Prince but I watched it. I mean it had its funny moments with Will Smith, his character, will always getting into things, his homeboy Jazz always getting thrown out and you always see him. You always hear the yell and then you would see him get thrown out the front door.

Jeffrey the butler, ashley the little cousin, and then Carlton God man, how can I put it with Carlton? Carlton was just, he was just different. Carlton was just straight up different and his love for Tom Jones and I don't. I can't remember. Like, did they just? I think they just aptly named it the Carlton dance and it just was just. My God, it just. Oh man, I can't explain it. You just would just have to just probably type in Carlton Dance on YouTube and just see it. But man, alfonso, man, I don't know how that Alfonso Rivera is the guy who played Carlton. I don't know how he did it, how he came up with it, but man, it's iconic because it's so bad you can't help but laugh and make fun of it. But it fit Carlton's personality. But overall, man, fresh Prince at that time I'm trying to think it was Fresh Prince and then you had Martin. So for me I was more of a Martin guy or Martin show, and then it was like man, like worse came to worse, or there ain't one that nah. And then I'll watch Fresh Prince. But it kept you entertained for the most part. But yeah, if I had my choice, it was Martin first, then Fresh Prince and then A Different World.

It's a spinoff of the Cosby Show and originally centered on Denise Huxtable, played by Lisa Bonet, and the lives of the students at Hellman College, at a historical black college college, sorry and universities. The series from primary focus on Denise Huxtable, but after Lisa Bonet's departure it shifted its focus to other characters, notably Whitney, gilbert Wayne, played by Jasmine Guy, a Southern Belle, and Dwayne Wait, I didn't know. This was Dwayne's name. Okay, let me read this out to you. I see why they just went with Dwayne Dwayne Wade, so this man's name was Dwayne. Cleophas Wayne oh my god, he was played by Kadeem Hardison. The math whiz became central figures in the show. A different role tackled issues that were often avoided by the Cosby Show, including topics related to race, class relations, sexual assault and equal rights amendments.

Speaker 1:

Some other notable members that were on that show you would have had Sinbad. Glenn Thurman, or is it Thurman Thurman? Yeah, let's see who else. Jada Pinkett Smith she was on that show as well. Is there anyone else I can think of? That was like really kind of like he didn't like you could see the potential but he didn't really see the breakout. But usually those, those the ones that were mentioned there were pretty much the big stars. And then, like I said, you know mentioning Sinbad and Jada Pickett Smith. Now, you also had on that show you know, sometimes reoccurring guests are special guests like Patti LaBelle. Who else would have been on there? Other famous artists or actors would have been on that show as well, but I mean, the list goes on. I mean, if I forgot your name and Patti LaBelle I'm sorry is the first one that came into my mind, but there's a long laundry list of guests and reoccurring guests that came on that show. But overall it had me, at the time when I was watching that show, wanting to be like oh yeah, college, yes, college is cool, seems cool. I want to do that. So I will say, though, at least with that show it did start shifting certain use minds to thinking of there are other opportunities, and college is one. So, yeah, shout outs.

And then lastly here, video games. So what is trending in video games? The intersection of video games and cinema is gaining momentum. Several video game adaptations are in development for the big screen and promising exciting experiences for fans. Again, we just were talking about here Fallout. That's made its way onto the medium screen. It's not quite the big screen that you would see in the movie theaters, but you have that. You've got a whole slew of other games of the Last of Us. Again, it's not quite big screen, but they did talk about doing it at once, but it didn't happen. Tomb Raider, not too long ago, had a film. So you've got a lot of films out there that are making waves into pulling video game adaptations to the big screen. Let's see big screen, let's see.

Speaker 1:

Some discussions revolve around whether gaming is declining. Factors, revenue, focus, design trends and corporate influence are being examined into this intriguing narrative. Well, you know, as I've been talking with the show earlier a few episodes, that you know one of the biggest issues with the gaming industry was layoffs and the reason why layoffs are happening because companies are merging and downsizing. That's one factor. And then, just honestly, a lot of people aren't really gaming quite like they used to. You know, no one knows exactly what's going on with these individuals' lifestyles, whether they're getting laid off or just don't have time to play the games. So they're not buying games. But they've got to factor all these things in.

Speaker 1:

And then mobile games are on the rise, especially with challenges like cloud service gaming services and improved hardware capabilities. Expect more engaging mobile experiences in 2024. Yeah, so it's like a lot of people aren't able to sit down at consoles anymore. You know the old school way when you can have a device in your hand like an Android or iPhone, that's, you know top notch and can play. You know games like Call of Duty, nba 2K, madden, and it looks just as great as what they would see on their actual TV screen that a console is hooked up to. They're probably more apt to go with a phone so that they can play it on the go and not have to worry about oh man, I got to wait till I get home so I can play Madden 2K, call of Duty, fallout not Fallout Fortnite. They're going to be more apt to try what's going to be more convenient for them.
