Welcome to the King's Perspective, where your cinematic cravings are satiated, and your pop culture appetite is indulged! Episode 20 serves up a smorgasbord of film critiques, starting with Zendaya's ace performance in 'Challengers' and the weighty themes of 'Civil War'. We're not skirting around the lukewarm response to 'Boy Kills World' either, and the buzz around 'Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes' and 'Poolman' is impossible to ignore. Whether you're a movie maven or a casual viewer, my insights are bound to stir your interest and perhaps challenge the way you see the silver screen.

Then, strap in for a rollicking ride through the realms of nostalgia and novelty in pop culture. Relive the antics of 'Police Academy', shrink down with 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids', and get a low-down on 'Low Down Dirty Shame'. Oklahoma's music might not be where you expect to find the next big tune, but we're turning up the volume on homegrown talents and the latest tracks from Dua Lipa to Sia. It's a cultural parade that promises to evoke memories and spark conversations about the tunes and tales that define our times.

Shifting focus to the realm of sports and screen, we're dissecting the strategic plays of OKC Thunder and predicting the outcomes of nail-biting NFL and NHL matchups. Candice Parker's retirement gets its due reverence, and for those vying for new TV obsessions or gaming adventures, 'A Man in Full' and 'Dark Matter' are on the marquee. Plus, I'll hand over the keys to the vault with the latest Ubisoft and 'Magic the Gathering' updates. Remember, when the credits roll on this episode, our dialogue doesn't have to end—catch me on Twitter to keep our exchange alive and kicking!

Speaker 1:

All right, welcome back to the King's Perspective, episode 20. Yes, episode 20, consistent, consecutive. Now you're probably listening to this drop. It's probably Tuesday for you or it still may be Monday, not my usual drop. I understand, the weekend was crazy, didn't get a chance to put my final, uh, final, finishing touches on script to get it out to record. But I'm doing it now, um, cause I got the Jonesy in my body here to get out here and record, so as usual. So as usual, it's King Chill.

Speaker 1:

King's Perspective Again, episode 20, where I speak on all things that are pop culture, whether it's film, music, sports, television, gaming. We're going to go in. I say we. Well, yeah, we as the community of the King's Perspective, but yeah, let's go ahead and go in and start here with film. So I've got some films for you right now that are pretty popular at the moment. So this would have just been last week or the week before that. Challengers. The film stars Zendaya as Tasha Duncan, a former tennis prodigy turned coach. It's kinetic and sexy romp at court.

Speaker 1:

Critics have given this film an 88 approval rating. Another film that I've talked about here feels like ad nauseum at this point, as Civil War takes us on a journey across the dystopian future of America Following a team of military-embedded journalists. The film provides a gripping close-up look at violent uncertainty of life in a nation in crisis. So it currently has an approval rating of 81%. So it's kind of dipping down, I think. Probably what it is is people wanted to see what the hype was based off the trailer. After you get to see the film, initially it's kind of just like all right, cool, you know you're not adding too much more to the film and pretty much if you've seen it probably you're passing it word of mouth to others like hey, yeah, it's worthy of seeing or no, it's not worthy of seeing. So I think for the most part you've kind of at least within this year you're already getting a dose of these films or TV shows. Because I will tell you, before Civil War came out we were already in the trailer for Fallout. And then Civil War comes out and then Fallout comes out. So you're getting that dystopian, post-apocalyptic type of film vibe there and I think for the most part it can give a little bit of fatigue. And then you also have the Walking Dead as well. So you figure you've got a genre out there, just different aspects of survival and I think sometimes that can be a bit exhausting. So people may want something different, something more.

Speaker 1:

Boy Kills World. Bill Sassgaard stars as Boy seeking revenge after his family is murdered by Hilda Van Der Kooi. While the characters and the plot may be predictable, Sassgaard's performance bolsters the film, earning a 60% approval rating. So so, from what I can see, it's almost like a kill bill style revenge type movie. Well, let's not put it in that light. Let's just say in general it's a revenge style type film. Um, someone seeking vengeance. Um, just, the names have changed, gender changed, locations changed and with the little nuances here. So I didn't see it being popular, but not too popular, okay. So check that out if you are into revenge films, especially if you're a big fan of Bill Sasskar. Again, I've mentioned him as the main I won't say main character, but if you're familiar with his work, you know he was the clown and hit for those reboots that just took place the last couple of years ago. Okay, now new films coming out.

Speaker 1:

This week we have Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, and my synopsis here for you is nearly 300 years after the events of the war of the Planet of the Apes, ape civilization have emerged from its oasis to and to which Caesar led the apes, led the apes. Meanwhile, humans have regressed into a feral, primitive state. When an ambitious bonobo monarch, promoxius Caesar, perverts Caesar's teachings to enslave other clans using weapons forged from lost human technologies, the chimpanzee's hunter, noah, embarks on a harrowing journey alongside a human girl named May. Together they seek to determine the future for both apes and humans. So, from what I've seen in the previews, it's generally always that way, where the humans are essentially the underdogs, the paradigm is flipped and the apes are on top. Our animals are on top. But it's like the apes, for as far as they've gotten along without human civilization being mixed in to their culture or their way of living, they always seem to gravitate to the past or mankind to help them further along their journey, because it's essentially like you know, animals can only go, but so far without the human race, and you see that time and time again with these films here. It's no knock, but it's just always a central theme where it's like the two need each other, and that seems to be the central theme. I've yet seen a Planet of the Apes film where it's just pretty much just apes by themselves without any sprinkling of human race in there, which always surprised me because I know when they did the reboots. And has James Franco in there. I know the ape flu pretty much eradicated the human race, so it made it seem as if like going forward all the movies up until this point. Now you would never see a human in any of the films, but apparently so. So it'll be interesting to see this new installment and see how it stands up or compares to the other ones.

Speaker 1:

We have another film here, pullman. The premise of the movie revolves around Darren Barman, a pool cleaner in Los Angeles. Darren unexpectedly uncovers a significant water heist, reminiscent of the classic film Chinatown. Your main star of this film is going to be Chris Pine, and you've kind of gone anywhere in film without seeing Chris Pine in any film. At this point, most notably would have been the reboots Well, not rebootsots, but the new installments of the Star Trek films. Matter of fact, they're putting the final touch on one of the Star Trek films. Sorry they don't have a title, they don't have a release date yet, but they did say they're coming back to the table with Zoe Zaldana, chris Pine and Zach Quino, so at some point that film will be coming out shortly. So that's you know, your main star of this film here. So, like I said, if you're familiar with Chris Pine, then the Pullman film will definitely be up your alley.

Speaker 1:

Not another church movie. Let me give you my synopsis on this one, because it's a bit of a spoof film. So, billionaire talk show host Hopra yes, that's right Jamie Foxx uses her direct connection to God to demand that he delivers a hero to help her plummeting ratings or else she will cancel him. Panicked, god decides to call on the hardest working man in the world, taylor Ferry. So that's a play on where it will play on Tyler Perry, played by Kevin Daniels. Despite Taylor's lack of experience, scott convinces him to do the impossible write a hit movie using his dysfunctional, crazy family as inspiration. However, the devil portrayed by Mickey Rourke has his own fiendish plan to disrupt the whole idea. So for a spoof film that's probably going to encompass all comedy films within the last I'd say probably five, 10 years, you're probably going to be seeing something of very inspirational films, religious based films that have come out within the last five to 10 years, definitely anything Tyler Perry's touched in that film. It's giving very reminiscent vibes of the early 2000s of the Wayans family, when they used to do scary movie series. This is essentially what this is, but a little bit more lighthearted here. This is but a little bit more lighthearted here, all right. So we're going to move on here to films with great replay value.

Speaker 1:

We have Police Academy, an unnamed English speaking North American metro metropolis. The mayor, mary Sue Bill, faces a shortage of police officers. To address this, she implements a new recruitment policy for the city police academy. They must accept all recruits applicants, regardless of their background qualifications. So then we enter Carrie Mahoney, an easygoing repeat offender. Police Captain Reed gives Mahoney a choice enroll in the police academy to reform himself or go directly to prison. Since Reed is friends with Mahoney's godfather, there's a loophole. The academy can throw him out, but he can't quit or he'll go to jail.

Speaker 1:

My biggest takeaways for police academy was always I know his first name was Michael, but I cannot think of his last name was the officer that was always making the noise with his mouth for any particular sound to get him out of any jam. I remember it being so crazy that the dude blew up from Police Academy, that actor. He literally had a comedy special where he was telling jokes, but at certain points in the comedy special he would do his little bits. And he would do his little bits of making noise, making sounds to keep the audience entertained. It was mind-boggling to see it though A one-man show of him holding it down for darn near 90 minutes For Police Academy. It definitely propelled the careers for certain actors in that movie, especially that gentleman. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids.

Speaker 1:

A quirky scientist and inventor, wayne Selinsky, has been designing a ray gun machine capable of shrinking and growing objects, but he cannot get it to work properly. His obsession with this machine worries his hardworking wife Diane and teenage 16-year-old daughter Amy. An aspiring inventor son who's 12-year-old by the name of Nick, and next-door neighbor Big Russ Thompson. His wife May and their younger son, ron, are preparing for a fishing trip. Their elder son, little Russ, is less than enthusiastic as his interests often clash with the father's.

Speaker 1:

I remember seeing this film as a kid. I didn't see any of the further films, but the first one definitely had me captivated and hooked, seeing Rick Moranis at the time on the film being somewhat well, not somewhat, but actually at this point in time holding the film down as the main character, because prior to that scene. For me at that time, seeing Rick Moranis in any film would have been Ghostbusters. And then he was the sidekick, the throwaway. I think his name was Telly or Tully, and just the way his character went about in Ghostbusters is just like oh you know, get out of here. But in here at least Rick had the opportunity to showcase his acting skills a little bit more. And just seeing the invention of the tool, the ray gun, and seeing things being shrunk, being blown up, seeing the grass how that looked as they're shrunk, and having to fight against the bee in the grass being chased Very interesting stuff, very dope at the time when seeing it. So, um, definitely one of my my all-time favorite movies as well. And then, to close things out for favorites, we have one of my other favorites here lowdown, dirty shane. Now, this, um, at this time would have been yeah, I believe so, and you can correct me if I'm wrong Would have been Keenan Irving Wayne's first main solo acting debut. I believe he wrote and produced this film. This film starred himself and Jada Pinkett Smith in the film Great film, hood classic, certified classic.

Speaker 1:

I would definitely recommend it to anybody if they had the opportunity to see it. If you're looking for action and comedy. So with this film, here we have it.

Speaker 1:

The synopsis as former LAPD detective Andre Shame is a wisecracking, gun-toting private investigator who owns Lowdown Dirty Shame Investigations. He runs his agency with his energetic and talkative assistant, peaches Jada Pinkett Smith, whom he arrested for shoplifting six years earlier. Despite taking on high risk case, shane struggles to keep the firm afloat and faces the possibility of closing it down. So, yeah, it takes someone from the past coming in and helping him to take one more case on him. He's going to pay out big and he's basically chasing a ghost of his past, and in doing so it opened up Pandora's box, something that he probably could not have foreseen, but it did. The case after it was solved was fruitful for him and he was able to keep the firm not the firm, but the business open. But overall, though, again the mind of Keenan Ivory Waynes from the Waynes family, the action, the adventure and the jokes all into one just work very, very well for that film. I would say it probably doesn't get enough praise, especially for him. But again, if you know, you know. All. Right On to music.

Speaker 1:

Here we have famous musicians from Oklahoma Reba McEntire, known as the Queen of Country, reba McEntire, has not only dominated the charts of her string of multi-platinum albums, but also remained a strong force in the entertainment world as an actress and a television producer. Her powerful voice and emotion-filled performances have transcended boundaries and resonated with fans of all ages. Then we have the group Hanson. Yes, that's right, hanson. Remember the catchy 90s hit Oom Bop? It was performed by the pop rock trio Hanson, who got their musical start journey in Oklahoma. So, yes, I had no idea At the time when they dropped. I think that was like mid-90s. I definitely thought they were from like man, california, mid 90s. I definitely thought they were from like man, california. Keep it real. I definitely thought they were from California. And then All American Rejects. This alternative rock band formed in Oklahoma and gained popularity with songs like Swing, swing and Dirty Little Secret.

Speaker 1:

Here are some upcoming albums released for 2024. So May 3rd, at this point in time has already been released Dua, dua, luba, radical Optimism, sia, reasonable Woman. And then, may 10th, we have Brian Kelly, tennessee Truth. Kings of Lyon. Can we Please have Fun? Scottie McCree, rise and Fall. Now, may 17th, we have Billie Eilish Hit Me Hard and Soft. Zayn Room Under the Stairs. Now, may 24th, we have Lenny Kravitz, blue Electric Light. Also we have 21 Pilots, clancy. May 27th we have Aspaya, armageddon, and then for May 31st we have Ben Platt, honey, mind and the OG, willie Nelson, the Border, and then here are some of the hottest and newest music on YouTube Fisher Remix by Cash, cobain, ice Spice and Bay Swing Potential by Louvre, buried Alive by Chance the Rapper.

Speaker 1:

So Chance is kind of coming out and making more music after some personal things going on Didn't really sway him. So he's. And what I mean by personal things is I want to get all personal in his business, but recently it started off as a separation and then a divorce from his wife, and I think right around that time that that news broke, right in between he had just came out with a new single and people was like, yeah, chances back, chances back, rapping, rapping for real, for real. And I'm just like, ok, because prior to um he put out a CD that was supposed to be his first mainstream CD. It was all right, but for me I prefer Chance early days mixtapes Like um, let me, let me give you a little shot here. The best one that Chance the rapper had um here. The best one. That chance the rapper had far as his mixtape goes, and it said I don't know what off the top of my head. Here we go.

Speaker 1:

So acid rap. I knew it was something acid and had to do with rap, but I just wanted to make sure, so it was acid rap. Then a coloring book and um 10, 10 day wasn't bad. Now the album that he had came out with back in 2019 was the big day and that was like his very first official album on a major label. But it it was just all right, like, like I said, compared to the other albums that he had had. It paled in comparison to Coloring Book and Acid Rap. We've got Friday by the Chainsmokers Can't Come Back by Koi Luray and Dogs of War by Motley Crue.

Speaker 1:

So those are your trending YouTube videos, but as of right now, talking to you, I can tell you right now, those are not the top trending YouTube videos. Right now, the two trending YouTube videos are going to be Family Matters by Drake and they Not Like Us by Kendrick Lamar those two. I'll keep it brief and short. Those two videos are trending only because these two artists have been in a rap beef for the last two, three weeks. It's going back and forth. It started with I think I mentioned it before, like that, and then, shortly after that, drake released Push Ups and then after that I'm just going off my top of my head, I'm not really in chronological order. Drake then released another song after that, after Push Ups. Man, okay, let me see, I should know this by now. Man, this is sad, all right. So I'm gonna try to get this timeline here and it's not gonna. Uh, I can't remember. There's a song I'm missing, but we'll skip it. It'll probably come to my mind, but they've been going back and forth. So most most recently here, like I said, family Matters, that released about a couple of days ago, and then Kendrick released a track called Meet the Grams. And then the following day, which was a Saturday, kendrick released they Not Like Us. Then, to end it and it looks like it's pretty much officially done, I don't think they're going to keep going Drake released the Heart, part 6. But again, two trending videos on YouTube. If you're looking for them, it should be Drake Family Matters, kendrick Lamar, they Not Like Us. So that's again YouTube in a nutshell, with the top trending videos.

Speaker 1:

Now on the sports for the MLB, the Houston Astros have faced challenges with their pitching staff. In April, due to injuries, six starters have spent time on the injured list, forcing the team to call up young arms who weren't quite ready. To call up young arms who weren't quite ready. The Rangers rookie, wyatt Langford, known for his impressive power, hit his first big league home run in a wild game. Langford's speed helped him score and it was an exciting moment for the team. In game against the Dodgers, the Blue Jays outfield made crucial plays Dalton Varsha, rob Shoei, ottoni a hit and George Springer had a diving catch to secure a win for Toronto.

Speaker 1:

Now on to the NBA slash. Wnba Mark. I'm probably going to butcher the OKC's coach name, but I'm going to try, so bear with me here. So Mark Dagonet is named coach of the year. Under Dagonet's leadership, oklahoma City Thunder became the youngest team to finish first in either conference. Yeah, okc is the real deal. Matter of fact, right now, as we speak.

Speaker 1:

To fast forward an update, they made it past the first round, beating the New Orleans Pelicans, and then now they're getting ready to take on Dallas Mavericks. Tnt was just kind of speculating how they think the game's going to go and they think that the series itself may go to seven in favor of the Oklahoma City Thunder, but I wouldn't sleep on the Dallas Mavericks with Kyrie Irving and Luka Dantic. But I think you can get a gauge on how good a game is going to be between games one and three by then. You'll kind of know what you're getting into from both teams and who has the upper hand and who doesn't. So I can't really say that OKC is just going to walk the dog on Dallas Mavericks or vice versa. But I do feel like it's going to be a seven game series. Wnba legend Candice Parker announced her retirement.

Speaker 1:

After winning championships with three different teams, the Denver Nuggets secured a thrilling victory, defeating the Los Angeles Lakers with a final score of 108 to 106. With the victory, the Nuggets advanced to the second round in the NBA playoffs. Yeah, and as of right now, as we speak, bro, denver Nuggets are going through it. They literally I just got done watching the game and they just got the dog walked on them by the up and coming Minnesota Timberwolves, by the one and only Anthony Edwards. This dude's phenomenal they all make jokes talking about. Anthony Edwards is the love child of Michael Jordan because he kind of favors Mike and plays like Mike.

Speaker 1:

But right now, minnesota Timberwolves have literally went into Denver and beat the Nuggets not once but twice, and are headed back home. All they really need to do is just get one at home and then another one on the road or back at home. But at this point, if they win Game 3 at home in Minnesota, chances are they'll probably win Game 4 at home in Minnesota. So that game, or that series, continues this Saturday and it'll be in Minnesota. And then, just speaking of them, the Minnesota Timberwolves faced off against the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of their NBA Playoff Series. Minnesota Timberwolves faced off against the Phoenix Suns in Game 4 of their NBA Playoff Series. The Timberwolves secured a 122-116 victory in the game, marking their first playoff series win in 20 years, and will face off against the Denver Nuggets and I don't have to rehash that. I just told you what just happened with them. So they're up, that team is up and they're looking very, very comfortable, while the Nuggets are looking like. You know what's going on. They're scrambling, don't know what to do, and this is defending champions, meaning the Denver Nuggets. So if they lose this, it's going to be tough On to the NFL. We have Falcons.

Speaker 1:

Assistant general manager, kyle Smith, is confident that the team's quarterback position for the next five years minimum with Kirk Cousins and Michael Pennant Jr. Yeah, again, kirk Cousins was a little unhappy that they didn't inform him that they were signing Michael Pennant, but again, you know they got to have a backup and if he seems to be the real deal, if Kirk goes down, why not insert this young man in and he can pick up right where Kirk left off? The Bills GM, brandon Bean, expresses excitement about drafting wide receiver Kenyon Coleman to compliment quarterback Josh Allen. So the Raiders. Devontae Adam has no regrets about the trade from the Packers, but he acknowledges that Jordan Love is performing well. So it's sounding like it's just me speculating. If he's been looking from afar at what the Packers have been doing, it sounds like, hey, if the opportunity presents itself, I wouldn't mind going back to Green Bay, and I mean honestly right now. That team definitely exceeded expectations meaning the Packers last year and got almost to the Super Bowl. We're about a game away. So, with that being said, you know I don't blame Devontae man if he wanted to go back. I really don't blame him.

Speaker 1:

Nhl we have Toronto Maple Leafs versus Boston Bruins, game five. Matthew Nyes scored the game winning goal in the overtime and Joseph Wool made 27 saves to help the Toronto Maple Leafs secure a 2-1 win against the Boston Bruins. With the victory, the Maple Leafs forced Game 6, narrowing the series 2-3-2 in favor of the Bruins. Nashville Predators vs Vancouver Canucks Game 5. Roman Josie tied the game in the third period and Alexandre Carey buried the game winner to help Nashville Predators stave off elimination. The Predators won 2-1 against the Vancouver Canucks, forcing Game 6 in the series. And then Colorado Avalanche and Winnipeg Jets Game 5. Miko Ranton scored a pair of third goals and Nathan McKinnon notched two assists to lead the Colorado Avalanche to a 6-3 win over the Winnipeg Jets. With this victory, the Avalanche secure a 4-1 series win. So that concludes sports.

Speaker 1:

Now we're going to move on here to television. So here are some of the popular current television shows that viewers are enjoying Fallout, I mean it, just each week it keeps kicking back up. People are either singing the praise of the show because they just have so much love for the show and how it truly was the best adaptation of a video game franchise compared to anyone else, or some are just discovering it for the first time and don't even know that it's an adaptation of the video game, but again, after watching in its entirety, I can't stop seeing its praises enough. Again, I, like others, think it's the best adaptation for a video game series turned into a television show or movie. So if you're unfamiliar with Fallout, let me give you a little quick synopsis here. It's an adaptation that feels like a true extension of the video game. Fallout is a post-apocalyptic blast for newcomers and long-time fans alike. Three-body Problem tackling its ambitious source material with its impressive gusto, the first season of Three-Body Problem leaves science fiction fans eager for more Baby Reindeer. This bracing work of autofiction by creator and star Richard Gad rewards viewers with an emotional complexity and excellent performances.

Speaker 1:

Newly released television shows. A man in Full. Newly released television shows. A man in Full follows Charles Croker, an Atlanta real estate mogul who faces sudden bankruptcy. As he tries to defend his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace, croker navigates a racially mixed late century boomtown filled with fresh wealth and willy politics.

Speaker 1:

Dark Matter. The story revolves around Jason DeCinzen, a former quantum mechanics physicist who now works as a college physicist professor in Chicago. One day, jason is kidnapped and drugged. Professor in Chicago. One day, jason is kidnapped and drugged. When he wakes up, he finds himself in a science laboratory stumbling out of a mysterious metal cube. To his shock, jason discovers that he is in an alternate Chicago, one where, 15 years earlier, he made different choices. In this parallel universe, he decided not to marry his wife Daniela and instead pursue a career as a physicist. So if that's some interest to you of being able to go back in time and make different decisions, or different choices that you wish you made, you can live vicarious through this show. All right. And then we have Bodkin. All right. And then we have Bodkin Story revolves around podcasters oh wow, that's interesting who embark on investigation into the mysterious disappearance of three strangers in the idyllic Irish town. So that just means to me, as a podcaster here, I don't need to go to any Irish town anytime soon.

Speaker 1:

And then television shows with great replay value. Now we have hey Arnold from 1996. This heartwarming series follows the adventures of a boy named Arnold as he navigates life's ups and downs among eccentric people in his neighborhood. Now, key note though a lot of people and this is a Nickelodeon show animated. A lot of people thought that when they were watching hey Arnold it was taking place in New York. Some thought it was Harlem, some thought it was Brooklyn, but no, actually, hey Arnold took place in Washington DC, that DMV area actually, I think more or less DMV, maybe Maryland, but yeah, definitely not New York as much as we thought growing up. Hey, arnold took place in New York, no, dc, washington DC.

Speaker 1:

Star Trek, the Next Generation, a sci-fi series set in the 24th century featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard I always wanted to say it correctly, because they always would do that on the show and the crew of the USS Enterprise explores morality, diplomacy and human spirit. I think for me, I wasn't really a big Star Trek fan. I think, for me, I wasn't really a big Star Trek fan, but watching this one here, the Next Generation, definitely had me hooked. I would generally watch it, though on Saturdays, and I don't think they were fresh episodes. I think they were more like repeats of what you would have saw during the week. So, yeah, that was my time of catching up and it seemed to be very interesting. Like I said, out of all the Star Treks and I won the big Star Trek, or Trekkie, as they call themselves, but this one I could definitely. If it came on now, I could definitely sit down and watch it, I could vibe with it.

Speaker 1:

Peaky Blinders, set in a post-World War I uh, birmingham, england, follows Shelby crime family led by Thomas Shelby. The show is a mixed thought of provoking drama, action, intense character relationships, and it's stylists, cinematography and grappling plot make a hidden gem worth exploring. So Killian Murphy is the lead actor on the show. We all know who Killian Murphy is Mr AKA Oppenheimer for his portrayal, but yeah, before Oppenheimer, I mean Killian has been acting in things. But he came back on my radar actually during this phase here with Peaky Blinders during his show's run Couldn't go anywhere without somebody saying, hey, man, you ever seen Peaky Blinders?

Speaker 1:

Oh, it's the greatest show ever. Yada, yada, yada. And I'm like, nah, where is it on? It's like, yeah, it's on Netflix, so you have to check it out sometime. So I have yet to really sit down and watch it, but I will say that it's worth a shot as a critically acclaimed TV show. So it's definitely worth watching. Again. I, when I have time because there's so many shows people suggest to you that would be one on my list to just kind of check off the bucket list and like, yeah, I did watch season one or I did watch a couple episodes of season one, so definitely worth it.

Speaker 1:

And then to close out here, video games. Here are some of the most recent happenings here. So Ubisoft's upcoming first person shooter x defiant has finally received a release date. Fans of the competitive shooter can look forward to this game as it aims to compete with popular titles like hall of duty. The game promises intense action, unique character abilities and customizable loadouts. Now the the date. I can't find out yet, but when they say something like that, there's a date and I'm using air quotations. I assume it'll be out this year, probably fall, winter, you know, especially with the holiday and winter. You know you release a game like that and bundle it with a game console so you can make your money hand over fist. Let's see. Viz Media has revealed a new manga series based on the iconic collectible card game Magic the Gathering. The story revolves around rivals who bond over their love for the game. As a bonus, an exclusive magic card will be included with the manga.

If you're a fan of Fallout, which we talk about here at Nauseam now at this point, you'll want to check out the limited edition Vault 33 glasses Available at IGN Store. These stylish glasses feature an iconic Vault-Tec logo and the perfect for slipping Nuka-Cola or other beverages of your choice. So sipping, sorry. So it looks like they're probably going to be like glasses, of course, like your standard glass cups. They will probably have the Evolve 33, maybe the Fallout Boy on the glass on the logo. So, very stylish. Just some nostalgia memorabilia for Fallout, and what better time to do it now than to cash out because Fallout is like it's like gangbusters. Right now.

Speaker 1:

On to one of my games that I had been talking about prior to here, going through a little bit of a trouble here and I'm gonna explain to you what's going on. So, ceo of Arrowhead, the studio behind Helldivers 2, which I've talked about and played and love the game, has issued an apology following the negative reviews and backlash from its fans. The studio aims to regain players' trust I'm laughing because the damage is done, man and continue to create, creating games. So what happened here is they thought it was a genius or bright idea to everyone who's been playing the game. Ok, so right now it's exclusive. Well, right now you can play on PC or on PlayStation 5, sony.

Speaker 1:

Well, arrowhead CEO and thought it would be a great idea to say hey, if you want to play our game now you have to have if you're on PC playing it Well, you have to have a PlayStation account and it has to be linked to your PlayStation. So it's like there are literally people dedicated to not having consoles. They would literally build a PC from ground up. That is better than consoles, right? So the notion of telling someone that, hey, you want to continue to play this game, you have to buy a console, and then it has to be this particular console and you have to link your account on your PC to this console, it's like, no, I don't want to do that. So it's like, no, I don't want to do that, especially the PlayStation 5. Now it's like probably somewhere up $500. Then this fall or winter they're releasing more models of PlayStation 5s that are different, with more hard drive, space, a sleeker design. So it's like, do you really want to go out and buy another PlayStation 5 right now, or buy one right now that will be an obsolete, out-of-date model, or do you want to wane and do it later on this year and the prices may be a little bit more expensive because it's a newer model, kind of like how iPhone does? So it's got them in kind of an arrowhead the creators of Helldiver 2, behind a bit of an apology tour at the moment.

And then theme park enthusiasts and Nintendo fans rejoice. Universal Studios is planning to open a new Super Nintendo World at its Epic Universal location in 2025. Visitors can expect attractions based on beloved Nintendo franchises, including Donkey Kong Country themed rides, next year. Make sure you got everything saved up and take all the time off you need so that when you go to that theme park, you can ride every ride from every Nintendo franchise known to man Kirby, zelda, mario, donkey Kong, super Smash Bros, you name it. They're probably going to have every ride attraction for all those characters.
