All right, so I want to share about the Holy Spirit. And so this time, um, in past, you know, I've shared a bunch of experiences and stuff, and this time it's more like a research paper. I think I have like eight or nine different sources. I'm not gonna name them all, but I could give you like little footnotes or whatever. But um so in John chapters 14 through 16, if you were to look in what Jesus is saying in his farewell discourse as he's talking to his disciples, getting them ready for the fact that he is leaving and they are going to be left alone. And if you remember the time in between Jesus on the cross and the time the Holy Spirit came, the disciples wore a mask. They were fearful, they were confused, they doubted uh Jesus and um what would happen next. And then when the Holy Spirit came, then all of a sudden Peter, the denier, who denied Jesus three times, all of a sudden he preaches this message, and thousands of people get saved, and uh they have boldness and they're they're recalling what Jesus taught them because over three years it was a lot of information for them to take in, and they totally didn't didn't like comprehend it all. But when the Holy Spirit came, the Holy Spirit helped them. So in John 14 through 16, I don't know if you can see it, but I tried to highlight in yellow the times when Jesus in his conversation mentioned the Holy Spirit. So in uh 14, there's a section there, then he says a little more in 14, and then um chapter 15 uh goes through the thing. Towards the end of chapter 15, he says a little more. Chapter 16, he says quite a bit more, and so um so out of that, we're not gonna read 14 through 16, but I wanted to highlight the parts that Jesus did say um about the Holy Spirit so that we can get an idea of what the Holy Spirit's intention is, what Jesus wanted the Holy Spirit uh to do in our lives. So they're God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit does everything he can to glorify and to uh serve and to um enable and lift up, not enable, to to lift up and um everything for uh Jesus and the Father. Um Jesus does everything he can to glorify the Father. The Father shows love and care and um for all three, you know, it's this working thing, but the Holy Spirit gets forgotten. The Holy Spirit easily gets forgotten in the believer's life. And if you read my weekly email update, I try to put some, you know, like four paragraphs from you know some book I was reading or something that I found helpful for you at the end of the email update so that you just don't see the same, you know, bulletin announcements and the announcement of what the message is, but to try to give you something more than what you'd get otherwise. And I think it's been going pretty good. I think that sometimes those are helpful. You can actually um sign up for that at rockwell.church forward slash updates, and then I usually send out a weekly email. And so Charles Stanley in one of his Bible study books, what I shared on there, um, is that people are, you know, all I need Jesus in my life, and uh oh, praise the Heavenly Father, uh, and they forget about the Holy Spirit. And so then I listed like four different quotes from A. W. Tozer um in the email update. And if I have time, I doubt I will. I might read some of those. I don't know, but just a reminder uh the Holy Spirit, according to this, if we were to summarize what Jesus says, the Holy Spirit is the counselor, the comforter, he's the other helper. Jesus was the first one. He is the spirit of truth, he is the personal presence of Christ, he is the manifestation of Christ within the believer, he is the abiding presence of the Trinity, He is the Holy Spirit, the teacher. So those are things that we see in this text about the Holy Spirit. And so I'm trying to, you know, primarily stick to what the text says, not you know, tell you what the whole Bible says about the Holy Spirit. And so we will look at what it says. So number one, the Holy Spirit advocates. The Holy Spirit advocates. And so online and in front of you is a fill-in-the-blank uh note sheet. I had surveyed some of you in the uh Rockwell chat Facebook group. Let me know if you want to become part of that. It's a more private group. And overwhelmingly, you guys said you like to fill in the blanks, and sometimes the fill-in-the-blanks are hard to fill in. So, usually in the afternoon, um we repost today's message with links to the whole service or just the message uh in video and online and uh the filled-in note sheet. So you can grab that later if you want. Sometimes I post it on the office window, but I didn't I didn't do that today. So, you know, it's it's summertime and my house has been keeping me real busy and tired. So I decided I needed to wash the house because that's a good thing to do, because the houses get dirty around here. So I borrowed a power washer, and I thought that I was doing great. When I was done, I'm like, oh, it looks clean and it smells clean. Then that old siding dried, and I noticed that you get wand marks when you do it wrong. So I'll be scrubbing the siding again sometime, but it just left me tired. But nonetheless, the Holy Spirit empowers us when we feel tired. The Holy Spirit enables us when we just don't feel like we can do it on our own. And here, the Holy Spirit advocates. The Holy Spirit advocates. So Jesus told his disciples, John 14, 16, I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and to be with you forever. The Spirit of truth, the world cannot accept him because it neither sees him nor knows him, but you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. So, advocate, advocate. So, um, in this context here, um, Jesus is promising the Holy Spirit after he made clear to them that he was leaving, and that he told his disciples that they needed to love each other, that they needed to show care and concern for each other, that the world would know that they were truly disciples by the love that they had. Um, we need to have a love for other believers, and we need to have a love for the world. So they're different. The love for other believers is I care about you. Um, and you know, we're spending, we're we're brothers and sisters in Christ. The love for the world is um, I know that without Christ, you're headed for a Christless eternity. The Bible talks about hell. Um, I want you to know that I care about you. Um, Jesus cared so much he gave his life uh for our sin. And we should do what we can to reach out to sinners. That doesn't mean that every person out there needs to become our best friend, but we should have a good rapport with unbelievers, with non-Christians, with those who don't believe in Christ. And we should pray for opportunities to share Jesus with them, and we should live out the Christian life before them. So an advocate. An advocate is one who shows care. Greek word perikletos denotes a helper or counselor, who is always there to give special care in times of need. Uh, he is a comforter, helper, helper, counselor, and an advocate and encourager. So he is um the son's representative, even as the son was the father's representative. So one Bible commentary said Um the comforter is one called in, one called to the side of another. The purpose is to help in any way possible. One, there is the picture of a friend called in to help a person who is troubled or distressed or confused. And that's how the Holy Spirit can work in your life. Two, there is the picture of a commander called in to help a discouraged and dispirited army. Three, there is the picture of a lawyer, an advocate called in to help a defendant who needs his case pleaded. No one word can adequately translate the Greek word perikletos, but that word probably comes from uh the word that comes closest is helper. So he is the counselor, he cares. So God loves us so much, Jesus loves us so much, and God cares about the world so much that he did not leave us on our own. Like the disciples, without the Holy Spirit, we would not get anything accomplished. But when the Holy Spirit is working in us, we are motivated, we are getting insight, we're able to read and understand and apply God's word. The Holy Spirit brings stuff to mind when we need it, usually the stuff that we've studied and memorized and things like that. So don't think that you can, I'm never gonna read my Bible and the Holy Spirit's just gonna give me stuff to say. It doesn't usually work that way. Um, but the stuff that you hear, the stuff that you read, the stuff that you learn can be used. God can use you, make yourself usable, um, confess any known sin. Pray that the Lord would use you. Ask the Bible doesn't have any verses to say, pray to the Holy Spirit, but being that the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinity, I don't think there's anything wrong with it. So um pray that the Holy Spirit would help you to understand scripture or bring to mind things that you could say in a conversation or help you as you move forward. Ask Jesus to help you to live the Christ life. Ask the Heavenly Father to show you different ways that you can glorify Him and be used by Him. So another Bible commentary says the disciples, when they heard about the Holy Spirit, they weren't like they didn't get it, they weren't elated, they didn't go, all right, now we've got the special stuff, now we're gonna be successful. I remember years ago, somehow this youth ministry group was at this big, big rally, and they somehow they ended up on national TV. And so this this reporter says, Hey Jerry, what makes your whole what makes your youth ministry so successful? And the guy's like, uh, the Holy Spirit and Mountain Dew. And you know, there's probably some part of both of that, but it's really the Holy Spirit. I mean, Mountain Dew might give you energy, but it might not give you energy to do the right things or say the right things. So it is the Holy Spirit that makes you successful. And the Bible time Bible commentary says that um if this news didn't stun those eleven men it should have. Throughout the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit was a rare gift and almost always temporary. He came upon certain individuals for a brief time for a specific purpose and then departed. Very few individuals were granted the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit for life. Among them was John the Baptizer. So the announcement that each of them would be inhabited by the presence of God was astounding news. Yet they didn't totally understand it. So what would that be like to have the Holy Spirit as an advocate? So maybe it'd be like if you had a personal trainer that would hold you accountable for working out enough and not overworking out, and for eating the right stuff, and for doing the right exercises to help you build strength and endurance. The Holy Spirit works in our lives to strengthen and empower us for the challenges we face. It's like having a divine coach guiding and empowering us every step of the way. So the Holy Spirit is our advocate standing with us and for us in every situation. He assists us in our weaknesses, providing strength and guidance. He comforts us in times of sorrow and distress. The Holy Spirit brings peace and consolation. So in our in our daily life, when we're not feeling it, when we need to have strength to serve, we should pray and ask that the Holy Spirit would empower us as we yield our lives to us. The Holy Spirit is our advocate. Number two, the Holy Spirit teaches. The Holy Spirit teaches. So He taught, Jesus taught the disciples, and then the Holy Spirit brought back to mind the things that the Holy Spirit said, which is helpful. So that what we have for scripture is um what came from Jesus is through the Holy Spirit written down by these men, so that we would be able to rely on the scriptures. So the scripture says Jesus says in John 14, 26, but the advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. That is a very, very important thing because again, the disciples are hanging out with Jesus. Jesus is teaching a lot. They're like always on the run, among the crowds, on the boat, uh, you know, following Jesus. And I'm sure as they were taking it in, it was just overwhelming. Um how could you remember it all? They didn't have any digital recording devices, they didn't like write down everything he said uh when Jesus said it. So God knew that we would need the Holy Spirit. So the disciples first heard Jesus speak, and we discover Jesus' words reading in Scripture, uh, studying, memorizing, meditating, and obeying uh Christ's word, putting them firmly inside us, and the Holy Spirit reminds us of further applications as we move through life. So um again, advocate, another Bible commentary says advocate can be translated encourager or coach in modern terms. It carries the idea of a trainer running alongside someone in a race, providing counsel, correction, hope, comfort, and a positive perspective to help them toward excellence, like a coach encouraging and challenging an athlete to reach a particular goal. He trains believers to dedicate themselves, to discard hindrances, and to become obedient like Christ. The helper does this supernaturally, in part by recalling the words of Christ to the mind and by applying them to the heart. So the disciples uh when Jesus ascended into heaven and the Holy Spirit came, had the supernatural power to get the task done, to be in relationship with the Lord, to be powerfully used. Would you like to be powerfully used by the Lord? I think that one of the greatest hindrances to us being used by God is that we're not making ourselves available. We are busy, we spend too much time doing other things. It's not our priority when we wake up, it's an afterthought. But if you turn it around and you start your day and you ask if there's actually at night you should do that, you should ask at night if there's anything you need to confess before the Lord, any sin that's getting in the way of your relationship, and you know, confess that before you go to sleep. When you wake up in the morning, fully commit yourself to the Lord. Say, Lord, I want to serve you. I want to be used by you. I have this, this, and this to do. And I'm eating with this person and I'm doing this thing, but I want you to have uh the I want to give you the permission to interrupt my day if you have something that you want me to do, want me to say. Um, I want to be used by you. Use me for your glory. Help me to know uh how to pray, what to say, what to do. I want you to help me. And, you know, the Holy Spirit as coach sometimes can tell you things that are hindering you in your race, things that um, you know, would help you maybe to be more successful. That doesn't mean that you just quit doing everything. You don't say, well, you know, I want to be used by God, so therefore I'm not gonna go to work anymore, and I'm just gonna trust God. It doesn't work like that. Sometimes your workplace or that place where your hobby is or or whatever, that place that you go is the arena, the environment where the Holy Spirit can use you the most. But the Holy Spirit teaches us. So, and again, um the Holy Spirit taught and reminded the disciples so that they were able to write down scripture so that we would be able to know it, um, so that we would be able to understand it, so that it would be available to us. Second Peter 1.16, Peter writes, For we did not follow cleverly divided tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. So um, and then um 2 Timothy 3.16 uh refers primarily to the Old Testament, but also the New Testament. All scripture is inspired by God and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work. So the more time we spend in Scripture, the more the Holy Spirit can use that in us and encourage us and help us to encourage other people, and it makes a difference in our life. So dig into the another commentary. Says, as Paul put in 1 Corinthians 2 12, now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the spirit who is from God, so that we may know the things freely given to us by God. So dig into the word and ask the spirit to reveal to you the things freely given to us by God. Ask him to bring to your remembrance the scriptures that you have studied in the at the times when you need to apply them so we can rejoice in this world that Jesus, because Jesus has returned to the Father where he is enthroned as Lord of all, that we can rejoice because he sent the Holy Spirit to teach us and to be with us. So the Holy Spirit testifies. The Holy Spirit testifies. When the Advocate comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me. So this is interesting, this, that he testifies because the Holy Spirit testifies about Jesus, but then he uses those who are in Christ to be the mouthpiece and to testify about Jesus. So the Holy Spirit uses people like us to testify about who Jesus is. The Spirit of truth points to the teaching, illuminating and reminding work of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit ministers to both the head and the heart, and both dimensions are important. So the disciples would learn this and they would tell others that Jesus is the Messiah. The Holy Spirit would testify by preparing people's hearts and minds, persuading them of the truth of the gospel, and enabling them to receive the message by application. This verse extends to all Christians. All Christians are called to testify of Jesus, allowing the Holy Spirit to help them through times of persecution and to remind them of the truth of God's word and work in the hearts and the minds of their listeners. So I think I shared this before, but um at Crown College when I was young, before I was younger, when I before I was a pastor, um, one of the professors who uh taught things like apologetics, that's not apologizing for your faith, that's how to defend your faith. He said, There's people out there that the Holy Spirit is working on. They are under conviction of their need to receive Jesus as their savior. They realize their sinners in need of a savior and they haven't found the solution yet. And so as you go about and you share your faith, don't get discouraged because there will be people who say no, but there are other people who are just waiting, waiting for you to bring them the message, waiting for you to tell them what they must do to be saved. They are ready to respond. The Holy Spirit's already been working on them. The Holy Spirit wants to use you to share with them what it is that Jesus has done and what it is that they need to do to respond. So the Holy Spirit is testifying, and we are testifying for the Holy Spirit. That is a good thing. Think about when you received Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Uh, when we have membership classes and people share their testimony, because that's one thing we always ask is uh, how did you come to Christ? You know, what was your life like before you came to Christ? Um, how did you come to Christ, and what has your life been like since? And so so many times people are like, Um, I just knew that my life was a mess. I knew that I was headed in the wrong direction, I knew something was missing, and then somebody shook. Shared with them. I don't think I've heard many people who just said, Well, I did the research on it and I made the decision I should follow Jesus. So even those people who uh did research, uh like Josh McDowell wrote this really big book called Evidence Demands a Verdict, and um you know he struggled uh knowing Christ, he struggled to, you know, he did research. Um, others, Lee Strobel, uh Chicago Times, I think, Tribune, reporter, uh, did research, but it was still the conviction of the Holy Spirit that pushed them over the line. So I know that Jesus died on the cross because God so loved the world. Um, but I don't think that people are crossing over the line of faith without the Holy Spirit helping, without the Holy Spirit testifying, without number four, the Holy Spirit convicting. The Holy Spirit convicts, the Holy Spirit gives the conviction. So what else did Jesus say about the Holy Spirit in John chapter 16, verse 7? Jesus says, Very truly I tell you, it is for your good that I am going away. Unless I go away, the advocate will not come to you, but if I go, I will send him to you. But when he comes, he will prove the world to be in the wrong about sin and righteousness and judgment, about sin because people do not believe in me, about righteousness because I'm going to the Father where you can see me no longer, and about judgment because the Prince of this world now stands condemned. So the Greek word for convict has a bunch of different meanings outside of New Testament, including scorn to bring into contempt and to rebuke. However, the New Testament writers restricted the definition to one, to show people their sin and summon them to repentance. The Holy Spirit confronts the world concerning three primary topics sin, people's guilt, righteousness, people's helplessness, and judgment, people's destiny. Of sin, we are all guilty. As to righteousness, we are powerless to help ourselves. Consequently, our eternal destiny is dreadful without divine help. So we are under conviction before we come to Christ about our sin, our inability or unwillingness to do as God commands, resulting in guilt before him. And Jesus died to pay the penalty of sin for the whole world, but only for those who believe in him, who have appropriated his sacrifice and therefore stand guiltless before the Father. Those who do not believe in Christ remain in their sin and must answer for their choices. Of righteousness refers to one legal standing before God is not guilty. In this context, Jesus relates the issues of righteousness to his going to the Father. Throughout his ministry, Jesus claimed oneness with the Father, for which the world, the religious leaders, accused him of sin, deceit, and blasphemy. His going to the Father is the ultimate vindication of Christ's righteousness over that of the world. The Holy Spirit will confront humanity with the righteousness of the Son. And judgment, one's life and character, being sifted in order to determine one's moral worth. Jesus stated repeatedly that he did not come for the purpose of judging, but that individuals would reveal themselves by their response to truth incarnate. By virtue of Christ's vindication, Satan has been sifted and found wanting. The Holy Spirit will confront humanity concerning its choice for Satan instead of the Son. So, all right, and sometimes God uses us to help people feel convicted of their sin. That doesn't mean that we have like a list of people that are sinners and we do everything we can to make their life difficult, but sometimes we confront them and tell them without Christ they're headed for a Christless eternity. We do that in love. But other times it's us living our lives righteously before them that brings them under great conviction. If there's a group of people and they're all doing the wrong thing, and there's one person in the group that starts doing the right thing, or starts, you know, questioning what they're doing, or even stands against what they're doing, the group does not applaud them for that. The group pushes them out. The group tries to find ways to ridicule them, tries to find ways to discredit them, and tries to do everything they can to get rid of the one who is bringing them under conviction. When Jesus said that we're light in the world, the people in the darkness are used to the darkness. And just like if we're in a dark room and uh then somebody turns the lights on all of a sudden we're like, oh, that hurts our eyes. Well, sometimes people who are living in darkness, living in sin, um, when we uh show up with the Shekinah glory of God across our face, when the light, when we're shining the light of Jesus, it is not warmly received, um, especially not at first. So um the way that we live our lives can bring people under conviction. Um the way that we show love and care for people that don't deserve it sometimes brings people under conviction. The way that we choose to do right when, or that we choose to keep believing in God when hard things happen, when family members die, when things, when we get laid off, when we fall apart, um when um all this bad stuff happens, and people are like, How can you still believe in God uh when you you he allowed you to go through all these hard things? But then as they think about it, sometimes it brings them under conviction. So in the book of Acts, first you had the disciples without the Holy Spirit, and then the Holy Spirit came. And in Acts 2, 37, um during this message, the response it says, When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, brothers, what shall we do? And Peter replied, Repent and be baptized, every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. So I guess that was just one slide. So come back here. There you go. Okay, so Peter's message said he brought them under conviction. And the people felt a need to respond. They're like, what are we supposed to do? Hang on one second. I have a great note here, but I lost it. I found it. Okay, number one, turn from your sins. In other words, repent. A basic, wholehearted change of mind that results in a change of purpose, direction, and values. And the word each of you reminds the listener and modern reader that this message is for all. Everyone needs to make a decision about Christ. His offer is the only effective solution for the sin problem that plagues every descendant of Adam. Turn to God. In addition to turning from sin, people must turn to God. It does no good to turn from sin without turning then to the one who can solve the sin problem. Be baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins. For believers, baptism is visible proof of repentance and commitment to follow Jesus, the Messiah. The idea of baptism for the forgiveness of sin does not mean that baptism results in forgiveness of sins, but rather that forgiveness of sins is a result of accepting of accepting Jesus as Savior. Repentance, not baptism, is what brings forgiveness. And receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Only through the coming of the Holy Spirit into believers' hearts can they truly experience forgiveness of sin. The gift of the Holy Spirit, not multiple or varied gifts, but rather a singular gift is the Spirit Himself. The Holy Spirit is a gift from God. The Holy Spirit, as Jesus had promised, is the comforter and the one who guides his people. Romans 8:10. If Christ is in you, then even though your body is subject to death because of sin, the Spirit gives life because of righteousness. So our bodies are going to fall apart. Our bodies, while we are renewed from within, we still, you know, suffer with sinful, plagued bodies that will decay. But the spirit gives life because of righteousness, and we can count on that when we come to the end of our days, and when it's time to park the tent of this body and move on. The Spirit gives life because of righteousness. Number five, the Holy Spirit guides. The Holy Spirit guides. Imagine if you're on a road trip and you have a good GPS that suddenly reroutes you to, and it worked good, it's working good, uh, gives you a shorter way to get to your destination or helps you to avoid the traffic ahead. The GPS can guide you. Actually, um, it was about three years ago when I started serving here. I would show up on Wednesdays, I think it was, and I would stay till Sunday. And then I go back on Sunday afternoon. And one time I was heading down the highway back to the cities, and there was um like this accident somewhere. Uh everything was backed up. It was like a parking lot, and the little GPS thing, you know, said, you know, there's a traffic delay, but didn't say what it was. So I got on a dirt road, and my little GPS guided and directed me down the dirt road until they got all the way around it. I think in Moose Lake or something like that. I wouldn't have known where I was going without the GPS. And sometimes the Holy Spirit works like that to guide and direct as we are going in life to help us to know uh which way to go, the things that we're to do and how we are to do it. So Jesus said, John 16, 13, when he, the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own, he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is to come. So the disciples did not have the ability to see what was going to happen in the future, but the Holy Spirit guided them and helped them, even through times of persecution, even through times of difficulty, the Holy Spirit guided them and helped them. So the Holy Spirit helps us to know uh what we're to do and where we're to go, but he does that in such a way that it's personal to us. So as we keep growing in Christ, as we keep serving in Christ, the Holy Spirit can use us more and keeps moving us down this path. It's a it's like a customized guidance plan that puts us in the right place at the right time or um helps us through difficult circumstances, or maybe uses an experience that we've had in the past to connect with someone else who's going through that so that we can be that ambassador for Christ, that minister of reconciliation. We can literally walk into an environment and say, I have a connection. I have a connection because I have this past experience and it meets their need, and I can speak into that because I've been there. So uh my dad and stepmom were in rock bands and played in bars all the time. And I'm I met a guy that had the same experience. He was also the child roadie of parents and bands, and so that was our common connection, and we I shared about Christ and also, you know, about carrying instruments and helping late at night that the parents played in the bars. And he had the same experience, and that was a common bond that we had, and I shared Christ with him, and eventually he received Christ as his Lord and Savior, and it was good, but it's customized. Psalm 143, 10. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your good spirit lead me on level ground. That is a good thing. And last, the Holy Spirit glorifies. The Holy Spirit glorifies. So Jesus says, He will glorify me. The Holy Spirit will glorify me because it is from me that he will receive what he will make known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will receive from me what he will make known to you. So this teaching, this relationship, this thing the disciples had with Jesus, Jesus says the Holy Spirit's gonna carry this on. It's gonna be our connection, he's gonna help you, and it's gonna be a good thing. It's part of God's plan. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth as we study scriptures and open our heart, inviting the Holy Spirit to illuminate God's word and trusting him to reveal God's will and to prepare us for the future. And it is a good thing. So as we think about the way that Jesus is glorified, he's glorified in the way that all the things that people said about him before he was crucified and rose again, um, they would be, you know, called out to be uh liars and that the truth would shine. Um Jesus is glorified by the way that we live our life. Jesus is glorified by people who were great sinners, who become great Christ followers. Jesus is glorified by your testimony. Jesus is glorified by the way that you react to the Holy Spirit's prompting in your life and what you do with it. There are certain people who just refuse to follow after the things of God and to be, they won't be, they're not yielded to the Spirit, they're not abiding in Christ, was actually next week, next week's message, abiding in Christ. So I'll talk about that more. Maybe we'll pick up on the Holy Spirit, glorifies and abiding in Christ next week. But I hope that some of what I said was um was helpful. But let me just close with this. Um imagine a musical performance where the skill and passion of the musicians elevate the experience to a level of unparalleled beauty and wonder, in the same way the Holy Spirit works in and through believers, glorifying the name of Christ in a manner that transcends human capability and points directly to the divine source of all glory and praise. And just think about what the angels see when the church works right, and just think about um the parties in heaven that they have when somebody, when an unbeliever comes to Christ, and think about um how God is glorified in our lives when we truly um are empowered and used by the Holy Spirit. Um, when we hear the conviction of the Spirit, um, convicting us of sin that we confess and then we choose to stop doing wrong and start to do right. So many more things I could say about that. But the Holy Spirit convicts and convinces. The Holy Spirit helps and guides, the Holy Spirit glorifies. Lord, I thank you so much for this time. I pray that if there's anybody here that hasn't received you as their Lord and Savior, that they would see their need and maybe even ask you to forgive you, to forgive them, that they would ask you to forgive them of their sin and to come into their lives and save them. Uh saying something like, Lord Jesus, I know that you died on the cross and that you rose again. Um, the Holy Spirit is helping me to understand that. And I know that by placing my faith in you, that you are alive and you hear and you can forgive and even guarantee me eternal life. The Holy Spirit is convincing me of that. So please forgive me of my sin. Come into my life and save me. Make me the person you created me to be. I want to follow you, and I know that I can uh follow you through the power of the Holy Spirit. We ask us all in Jesus' name. Amen.
