Hello and welcome to another episode of Global Ticks. Thank you so much for joining me today. And today I'm joined by a wonderful guest who's actually been on the podcast with this before, but today we're doing something slightly different. Today I'm with Claire, KB of Calm with Claire, and we did a previous episode, Claire and I, all around running a business and having young kids. Like, is it even possible without burning out? And yes, it is. So I'll link to that episode in the show notes today if you want to go and have a listen to that too. But yes, as I say, today we're doing something totally different. Claire and I are going to be putting a meditation together for you today, which we're really excited to do. This is completely Claire's realm of expertise. So, Claire, first off, tell us a bit about you and what you do.

SPEAKER_00

Hi everyone, I am Claire of Palm with Claire, and I am a spiritual life coach and intuitive healing coach. And so I help women basically with any kind of burnout if they're distracted from the craziness of life and help them come back to center with little rituals like meditations, journaling and reiki and help them reset and become and find their calm within. So when you approach me about this, I was more than happy to get involved and help people that are feeling a bit stressed, overwhelmed, or learned how to kind of re-center themselves and step back into their business with calm and clarity. So yes, let's do this.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, I love that. And that's when I knew you were perfect for this. Absolutely. The very first person I thought of and a bit of a backstory, how this came about. So Claire introduced me properly to meditation. I mean, I've dipped in and out of it over the years. I bought Claire's package and did a few sessions online with her, and it was just lovely. It really sank in this time, you know, really taking the time out to listen properly. And Claire introduced me to walk in meditation as well, which was something I'd never done before. I just fancied, didn't know if it even existed. And that was just a complete game changer as well. The more I was doing Claire's meditations and then getting my own business head on and thinking, I wonder if there's something out there that's specific for business owners? Because Lord knows if anyone needs a time out. We can oh, so much get into our own heads and worry about things and worry that things that we're not good enough for this, that we're not doing it right, if it's not producing enough income for us, that's a worry. What else can we be doing? And maybe we're not cut out for this. And how many times do small business owners, self-employed people think I should just go and get a proper job and be employed by someone else? And I just thought, as I say, when Claire introduced me to meditation, proper meditation and doing it properly, how much clarity can come from taking that pause, that step back, that step to the side. And I know from a lot of people I've spoken to, they struggle to get into it, but it's a practice at the end of the day, isn't it? And they struggle to start with it and then keep it going. And that's okay. But I was thinking with this one, if you're a busy business owner and you've got a lot going on, what we'd really like to do today is encourage you to step away from your desk and not do this at your desk and actually go for a walk and do this. Yeah. What's more of the benefits of that then clear of doing a walking meditation rather than a sat down quiet space one?

SPEAKER_00

Well, first of all, it is totally normal for meditation to seem like a scary word to a lot of people because they hear the word meditation and think they need to sit in silence and that they need to shut off their brain. When in fact, that's not meditation at all. Meditation is bringing yourself back to center and bringing yourself back to your peace. So letting your brain kind of trail off and then going, oh, I'm thinking and bringing it back. So sometimes when you are so full on and you're so stressed out and you're so burnt out, sitting in stillness sometimes for some people doesn't work for them because they do get so overwhelmed with the thought of sitting in stillness, and that can be quite overwhelming to some people. So I feel like doing a walking meditation sort of takes the pressure off people, really feeling like they need to sit still. You go outside, you put your headphones on, you are still alone in your own thoughts, but you're still outside in the present world. So you get to notice the birds flying by, you get to feel the air on your skin, you get to see the trees flowing in the wind. All of these things are happening, but you're still being present within yourself without even really realizing that that's what you're doing. So a walking meditation will help because you're taking one step at a time, one breath at a time, the pressure has been lifted, you're creating space between you and your desk, and you're just taking that moment for yourself. And I really believe that it's going to bring everybody that a little bit more clarity, hopefully a lot more calm, and to be able to return to the workspace feeling ready to take on the task it is they felt they needed to step away from.

SPEAKER_01

Absolutely. That for me is what I've experienced doing walking meditations. I think that's absolutely spot on. Enjoy this. And without further ado, maybe we should just get into it. Let's do it.

A walking meditation for the business wobble. Written by Claire City or Cam with Claire, recorded by Amanda Hughes. Before we begin, just gently put your phone on silent or do not disturb. No notifications, no multitasking. This is your time. Start walking and allow your pace to feel natural. Not rushed, not forced, just steady. Take a slow breath in through your nose and a soft exhale out through your mouth. Again, inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth. Let your shoulders drop, your jaw unclenched, and your body soften. Notice where you are right now the ground beneath your feet, the air on your skin, the trees and the wind, the sounds all around you. You don't need to change anything, just notice. One foot, then the other and breathe. If you're here because you're doubting yourself, because your brain feels foggy, because you're questioning whether you're cut out for this, then you're in the right place. Every single business owner has wobbles moments where everything feels heavier, where decisions feel harder, where confidence dips. A wobble does not mean failure. It means new care. Take a breath with that. Inhale, exhale. As you continue walking, gently cast your mind back. Why did you start your business? Before the pressure, before the algorithms, before the comparison, what did you want your life to feel like? Freedom, flexibility, creativity, impact. Let that original spark come back into view. Not the polished version, the real one. The version of you who thought, I'm going to try. Stay with that for a few steps. Now imagine something gently, not in a forceful, manifest, harder way. Just softly imagine that it works. Imagine your business supporting your life, clients flowing in, income steady, you feeling capable and calm, not frantic, not hustle, just steady. Let your body notice how that feels. Maybe your chest softens, maybe your breathing slows. That future is not impossible, it is built step by step, and you are already walking. Now bring your attention to this truth. You have a business. You created something from nothing. There was once a time when this was just an idea. Now it exists. That alone is extraordinary. You've learned, you've adapted, you've shown up, you've kept going. That is not small. Take three slow breaths to acknowledge yourself. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. Inhale. Exhale. As your walk continues, notice your steps again. Left, right. You don't need to solve everything today. Maybe when you return to your workspace, you choose one simple task. Or maybe you choose to close a laptop and start fresh tomorrow. Both are valid. Clarity doesn't come from panic, it comes from pause, and you just paused. As we finish, place a hand lightly on your chest if you can and say quietly to yourself I am allowed to have wobbles. I am capable. I am building something real. One step at a time. Take one fine deep breath in and let it go slowly. And continue your walk. A little stadium.
