What happens in a community when do not live up to the gender roles your community expects? How do you feel about yourself in a system designed for independent leadership not cooperative leadership? Narrow gender roles can make some people feel inadequate and unworthy especially when the person does not want to conform to the expectations or feels that conforming to the expectations is not authentic.
