The Living Word's Power

Tim Season 1 Episode 2

The power of Scripture lies in its living, active nature—a divine force that works within us rather than static words on a page. Have you ever experienced a Bible verse suddenly illuminating with profound insight, perfectly addressing your current circumstances? This supernatural phenomenon, what some call "revelation knowledge," shows how God speaks through His Word with precise timing.

Scripture isn't merely ancient text; it's a transformative agent that "washes" us spiritually. As Hebrews 4:12 reveals, God's Word penetrates "even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow," judging our deepest thoughts. When we consistently engage with Scripture, an extraordinary spiritual cleansing begins, gradually renewing our thinking and behavior. The more time we spend in God's Word, the more profound the transformation becomes.

Many wonder why numerous Bible translations exist. Some versions prioritize literal wording (King James), while others focus on communicating meaning in contemporary language (NIV). Regardless of translation, the Holy Spirit uses Scripture to speak personally to receptive hearts. What makes the Bible unique among religious texts is its claim to be God's actual words rather than merely teachings about Him. This distinction matters profoundly when seeking authentic spiritual connection.

The journey begins with being "born again"—acknowledging sin, seeking forgiveness, inviting Christ as Lord, and turning from old patterns. This spiritual rebirth opens the door to receiving God's Spirit and experiencing His presence in daily life. No matter what lies in your past, when you surrender to Christ, God wipes your slate completely clean, throwing your sins "into the sea of forgetfulness." You literally become a new creation.

Speaker 1:

Timmer J, and I just want to share what the Lord is sharing with me. And, in order for me to get it out clearly, I just want to open up with a quick word of prayer. Lord, I just thank you, father God, for my listeners. I thank you, lord, for all that you're doing in my life. Lord, I just pray, father God, that you just guide my heart, guide my lips, lord, to be able to correctly share with other people what you're giving me at this moment. And I just thank you, lord, thank you for being with me. And I thank you for my listeners and I pray, lord, that you enable them to hear what you want them to hear. And I just thank you, I just pray for your spirit of peace to be not only upon me but upon my listeners. I just thank you so much, father God, for this opportunity, this opportunity in life, really. And let's see the verse I want to share from today is found in the book of Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12. And I'm reading from the New International Version of the Bible. And, just so you know, maybe you're curious about why there's so many different versions of the Bible. And just so you know, maybe you're curious about why there's so many different versions of the Bible. There's a New King James Version, new Living Translation and there's many out there. Basically why that is is because some of the verses or versions of the Bible they concentrate on kind of the, I guess, the letter of the law, more or less what the Bible originally said, like the King James Version. Now the King James Version is written in Old English so it's a little bit hard to read, but once you start reading it it becomes easier. And the new King James Version is the King James Version but it replaces the these and thous with modern English language, so it's a little bit easier to read but it's not really smooth.

Speaker 1:

Like, say, the NIV. I've used the NIV for many years. I like it. Other people say well, you know, the NIV has these faults and that faults. Well, I tell you what man, when the Holy Spirit, when the Lord baptized me in the Holy Spirit, I was reading the NIV and I was just getting blessed. And throughout the years of my life I have just stuck with the NIV and it is just such a blessing, and a blessing in a way, that as I'm reading it it really touches my spirit in a way. That's just in the insights there. I've read other study Bibles. The NIV has a study Bible and it's funny because in the NIV when you get the more complete study Bibles where the people put their notes or the authors, there's a team of authors that put it together. But sometimes when I read there the questions or the answers to a particular verse, or when they expound on something, that's not the thing that I want expounded. I want something else to be expounded, another verse to be expounded, and over the years, as I pray to the Lord, he has expounded those verses. So it's just really, it's been really a blessing just following the Lord, the whole thing. When you have a relationship with the Lord and you're reading his word, it just comes together.

Speaker 1:

But my original comment was why are there so many different versions of the Bible? Well, some emphasize the word of God, each word per se, and other ones emphasizes the move of the Spirit. I mean, they emphasize what the Holy Spirit is doing. It kind of has that leaning to it. And well, I tell you, when you're reading the Word of God, it just starts feeding your spirit. And what happens as your spirit gets fed, your spirit starts overcoming your soulish nature and it's just all of a sudden. It's like I mentioned in my first podcast episode. One is that it's kind of like going from a lily pad to lily pad when you're walking. It's just you're walking on water in a sense, and not physically walking on water, but boy oh boy, the Lord will just refresh you and just cause you to grow in those areas.

Speaker 1:

And I'm telling you, the Bible is a verse in the Bible where it talks about the things of this world. They become strangely dim and what that means is that they become not so important Like you hear on the news and all the stuff happening. Don't get too wrapped up in that, because just know that the Bible says in the last days there'll be a great increase in witness, things will happen. This is before the Lord returns. So the key for you is to be prepared for when the Lord returns. And, as a side note, I have a website called soulsplashercom, s-o-u-l-s-p-l-a-s-h-e-r. Soulsplashercom and that explains all the steps for you to start a relationship with Jesus Christ to become born again.

Speaker 1:

Now, when Jesus in the Bible, when he repeats something two times, it's really important. But when he was talking about being born again, he mentioned that three times and he really stressed the importance of being born again. He mentioned that three times and he really stressed the importance of being born again. So what a person needs to do is to basically become born again. What that means is asking the Lord for forgiveness for your sins and inviting him into your life to become Lord and Savior of your life and to turn away from your sins. Go in the opposite direction, I mean, change your life around. And so these are the steps. And there again, the steps are more clearly spelled out on my website. But this is what enables you to receive the Holy Spirit. This is the doorway, and one of the names of Jesus is door. I mean Father, son and Holy Spirit. They're all the same but different and giving your life to Christ that opens up the doorway for the Holy Spirit.

Speaker 1:

And there's so much that happens as a result of that relationship, not only when you give your life to Christ. You are a new creature. The Bible says you are a new creature. After you do that, the old things are passed away. What God does is all your sins in your life, and I don't care what you've done in your life, it doesn't matter. When you give your life to Christ, your sins are on like a chalkboard, a whiteboard, and they're all recorded.

Speaker 1:

But once you give your life to Christ and ask for his forgiveness and ask him to be Lord and Savior of your life, your slate is completely wiped clean. That means anything you've ever done in your life as far as sins and wrong things and, believe me, I had bucket loads before I came to Christ but once you do that, your life is completely changed and God remembers your sin no more. The Bible says he throws it into the sea of forgetfulness. How God does that I don't know, but all I know is that all of a sudden your sin is not held against you and as you're walking with the Lord and as that relationship develops and gets stronger, your ability or I should say your ability, or I should say your susceptibility, to fall into the old sin nature that becomes less and less as you start your walk with Christ. Yeah, sometimes you're going to make mistakes and sometimes you may do what you used to do, but when that happens, just get up and dust yourself off.

Speaker 1:

If you fall into the old ditch that you used to do, get up and dust yourself off and keep walking. As you keep doing that, it becomes stronger and stronger and stronger. And I'm just telling you, the Lord just will love you so much, not that you're earning it, but there's just this freedom that comes and there's just this, oh, the Lord is downloading into me right now. There's just the feeling of the Holy Spirit and, lord, I just pray for my audience right now, Father God, that as you're downloading and blessing me, lord, right now, I just pray that you just bless the people on the other side of this microphone, those that are hearing this message, that you just fill them up, father God, even more than you're filling me up, lord. Touch their hearts, change their hearts, lord, allow them to come to you, allow them to experience, father God, the love that you have for them. Thank you, lord.

Speaker 1:

And another result of you giving your life to Christ and when you make mistakes which we all do, there again, pick yourself up and dust yourself off. God doesn't see your mistakes when he sees you, when he sees you, I guess, looking down on earth and you've given your life to Christ, the Bible says that you are covered by. Jesus was nailed to the cross. He shed his blood. That shed blood covers your sins. So when God looks down, he doesn't necessarily see your sin. He sees that you are his through the shed blood of his son, jesus Christ. He looks down and he says that one's mine, that one's mine, that one's mine. And while he's saying that and seeing that and seeing you, he just has so much in store for you, and giving your life to Christ opens this up for you completely.

Speaker 1:

And so I just want to encourage you and maybe you're a non-believer, maybe you've never believed in God, maybe you think this is just nuts, but I just want to tell you it's not. It really isn't, because the Bible is the only word of God that all other religious books out there claim to be written by a prophet of God. But the Bible is different in that it claims to be the Word of God. Now, all other religions out not all of them, but typically religions will acknowledge Jesus as a son of God, and I heard this online and I thought this is pretty cool, but Jesus didn't acknowledge any of them. They acknowledge him, but he doesn't acknowledge them. And what this person was saying that I heard online is that and this is in a direct quote but he said if I'm going to worship somebody, I'm going to worship somebody that all these other religions acknowledged, and he didn't acknowledge them. So this person decided to go right to the source, to the God of gods, to the King of kings, to the Lord of lords, to the living God of the Bible. The living God, I'm telling you, once you start this relationship, it's so grand Words are hard to describe it.

Speaker 1:

Now I want to get back to the verse Hebrews, chapter 4, verse 12. For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It penetrates even to dividing the soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before his eyes of him to whom we must give an account. So what the Word of God does is it is living. The Word of God is alive. The Word of God is living as you start reading the Word of God and applying it to your heart, and you don't have to know everything in the Word of God is living as you start reading the Word of God and applying it to your heart, and you don't have to know everything in the Word of God, you don't have to have anybody else discern it or how can I say, define it for you? You can just start reading the Word of God and start with the New Testament Matthew, mark, Luke, john and you can just as you read the Word.

Speaker 1:

There's going to be a change on the inside of you. It's hard to describe, but the Bible says that we are washed with the word as we read the word. What happens is that you start to change, in that you're being washed in the word. The Lord will start washing the junk in your life. He'll start washing the pressures, the aggravation, all the negative things in the world. He'll start washing those things from you and making you clean. It's exactly the way it's said. I mean, it's exactly the way the verse spells it out how He'll wash you with the word, as you apply the word to your life and to your heart, that all of a sudden changes will start happening in your life and these changes are permanent and there's actually an ebb and flow. The more time you spend with the Lord, the more washing it takes effect, the more changing that takes effect the change in your life, and it is. If you slow down in reading the Word, there is an adverse effect too, but you'll never be back to zero. I mean, once you give your life to Christ, you're a brand new person. So the Word is just vitamins to just get you going.

Speaker 1:

And as you read the Word, there's a thing that happens. It's referred to as revelation knowledge, and I don't know if that's necessarily a biblical term, but it's one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and that's knowledge, the gift of knowledge, and I think they tie together. There'll be a verse that will just really, really, it'll just kind of, it'll touch your heart in a special way, like man. That is just such an answer, such an answer, and I mean that'll go on throughout your whole Christian walk. I mean you'll be reading verses and chapters that you read before and all of a sudden, man, there'll be a verse that'll just light right up and you'll go oh my gosh, that is just so right on the money. And you've read that hundreds of times before and it didn't do anything. But this time it did, because usually what happens is that circumstances in your life change and all of a sudden this really starts to apply because of what you're going through.

Speaker 1:

At that moment the Lord's word is alive. The Lord knows what you're going through. He's going to highlight stuff in his word so that you can apply it to your life. And life becomes so much better and, like I said before, your problems, the aggravation, the peace of God comes into your life, comes into your heart, starts settling you down, starts giving you a sense of peace that you've never felt anywhere before, I mean. And so it just all works together and it just it's life changing.

Speaker 1:

And the key is too is the Bible says, the Lord says in the Holy Spirit, hear the Holy Spirit's still small voice. It's almost a whisper, it's more of an unction, kind of an intuition, but it's there and the Lord will just guide you. The Lord will give you, the Holy Spirit will give you a little bit, or say a little bit, or talk to you a little bit through his word. And all of a sudden, man, it might be just a few words, it might be just a sentence, it might be, but all of a sudden that's exactly what you needed at that moment for what you're going through at that time, and it is so perfect. And as you meditate on the word and spend time praying to the Lord and just say Lord, could you expound on that Lord? Talk to the Lord like he's your best friend, lord, could you expound on that, lord? That really touched my heart. What does that mean? And you just spend time alone with the Lord. All of a sudden, he just starts bringing that to life and he'll show you and he'll fan into flame your faith. And it's just all of a sudden your faith begins to grow. And that's just one instance. As you're reading the Word, your faith will just continue to grow, and it's just incredible.
