Introduction: Healing the Shame That Binds You

Dr. Chris Stroble

Today I being a 5-part series entitled Healing the Shame That Binds You.

  • This series is all about looking at the two types of shame: healthy and toxic shame and the difference between the two.
  • It's about looking at the sources of toxic shame: the family system, the school system, the religious system, and the cultural system.
  • It's about recognizing how we seek to hide and cover up our shame --through codependent behaviors, narcissistic personality, all addictions, and criminal behaviors.
  • This series is about helping you heal your shame, so you can nurture the emotional development of your children. Being a model of healthy shame for them, they develop your healthy shame, and you interrupt generational cycles in your family.

For this series I'm references several sources, but primarily I'm referencing John Bradshaw's book, Healing the Shame That Binds You.
