Imperishable Inheritance
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
We often think our family tree tells us who we are.
Our surname.
Our upbringing.
Our family history.
The patterns we've inherited.
The things our parents carried before us.
But what if your family tree is not the thing that defines you most?
The genealogy of Jesus can seem like a long list of names that is easy to skim past. But when we slow down and look at where that genealogy leads, something extraordinary emerges — Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
And then comes the question:
Where do we fit into this story?
John 1:12–13 gives us an incredible answer:
“But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God.”
What does it mean to become a child of God?
• Can your past determine who you become?
• Are you bound by the patterns, labels, or limitations you've inherited?
• What happens when you stop allowing your family history to define your future?
• And what changes when your identity is no longer rooted in where you came from, but in who you belong to?
When you receive Jesus and believe in His name, Bible says you become a child of God — born not merely of human blood, family lineage, or human will, but of God.
That changes everything.
Your past doesn't get the final word.
Your family patterns don't get the final word.
What people said you could or couldn't become doesn't get the final word.
God does.
And with this new identity comes an inheritance — not one that can perish, be corrupted, or fade away, but an imperishable, undefiled, and unfading inheritance kept for us in heaven (1 Peter 1:4).
So what if becoming a child of God is more than a change in belief?
What if it is a complete reset of your identity, your hope, and the inheritance you carry into your future?
If you've ever felt boxed in by your past, defined by your family history, or uncertain about where your life is headed, this episode is an invitation to discover who you are in Christ.
Because sometimes you don't need to change where you came from.
You simply need to discover where you belong.
If this message encourages you, subscribe for more Bible-based teaching, share it with someone who needs a new compass today, and leave a review so more people can discover the hope found in God's Word.
And as you listen, ask yourself: Who am I allowing to define me — my past, my family tree, or God?
Faith. Hope. Love
Good news for everyday life.
The Gospel, simply shared.

Why Family Trees Still Matter
SPEAKER_00I want to start and get straight into the word of God this beautiful day, and I want to tell you that I want to start with something called as a family tree. And um might not mean anything to most of you, but to some of you it might. And you know, if you speak with your parents or your grandparents, you know, they might, you know, be somebody who's more interested in this topic. I feel our generation is just uh not too much into this about matters like this. And maybe some of you care about it, some of you don't. Older generations definitely did. And you know, the earth has also had battles on lineage and you know the race and stuff like that. But as I said, we might not be too interested in it, but it's uh it's still a thing. And as I said, older generations might be more acquainted with it or might have more to talk about the subject. But I want to tell you that we all have parents, we all have a lineage. We're born on this planet, we have parents, grandparents, siblings, their kids, uncles and aunts, and you know, that's why it's called a tree. And some of us can have really big family trees because you know there are two sides of the family, and one there's you know, there's your father and your mother. As I said, because we are born on this planet, you have two sides, and that list can be pretty long. So, you know, things like family tree, ancestry, descent, lineage, line, genealogy, call it what you like. And a lot of people take a lot of pride in their family lines, you know, where you've come from and your name. Some have different backgrounds, some have mixed races, many, many permutations and combinations, but we all have a family tree and a lineage. And as I said, some of us or some of you might not like where you come from. You might not like the name, you might not like somebody in your family line, but it is
The Genealogy Of Jesus In Luke
SPEAKER_00what it is. But today I want to share something with you which uh which is uh you know truly amazing. And um, I'm going to the book of Luke, and in the book of Luke, there's this there's this one chapter that talks about the genealogy of Jesus Christ. And you know, some of you might have read it, and some of you might have, you know, just skipped through it or quickly read it because it's just it's just full of names. But I think what's interesting in this one chapter is you know, there are many names that you and I might not even know. And it's it's just the names of the fathers. But as I said, it's a lineage, and we all know that Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit, but he was born onto this planet to a woman and to a man. That was God's plan, not mine. But as I said, the lineage, uh, the chapter is actually called Genealogy of Jesus Christ, but the lineage of Jesus is it is captured in that in that book, and it's it's so fabulous. I mean, you can just read it for the names, but we all know that Jesus was born unto Mary, his mother, and his father's name was Joseph, who was a carpenter. But as I said, this chapter has his lineage on it, and I'm just gonna take you through a few names that show in that lineage. Because as I said, the others might not matter, or you might not even know them. So it says, as I said, a lineage is just you know one name following the other, calling out the son to the other father. So a few names, as I said, the son of Jacob, who was a son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Shem, who was a son of Noah, the son of Enoch, who was the son of Jared, or Jared, the son of Adam, the son of God, hallelujah, hallelujah. It's so beautiful that in this passage of scripture it's called out from Jesus, as I said, right at the top, being son of Joseph, and Joseph's lying just going on into the tree, as I'd like to call it, and some of these wonderful names in there, which we which some of them, as I said, we know, and then it goes on to the end saying the son of Adam, the son of God. Oh, hallelujah. I want to tell you and reassure you this morning for most of you, and you can read it from the book of Luke, the third chapter. Jesus is the son of God. Hallelujah. And today I want to give you an entirely new perspective on things. I want to get deeper into this family tree topic and show you something absolutely amazing about this
The True Light For Everyone
SPEAKER_00tree. And I'm going straight into it from the book of John, the first chapter, the ninth verse onwards. And it talks about John the Baptist. It talks about John the Baptist who came to call out the one true light. John the Baptist had just one job, was to pre-announce the coming of the Christ. And it says in John 1 9, that was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world. Hallelujah. As I said, it talks about John first, and it says how John was come came before to call out the Christ. That was the true light which gives light to every man coming into the world. The true light. And you know, this is if you actually read it a few times, you'll understand that this is a very, very deep statement in the Bible. He was the true light that gives light to every man coming into the world. And as I said, it's just a topic for another day because it's extremely deep.
The Right To Become God’s Child
SPEAKER_00But here I'm coming to the crux, and that's what I want to share with you this morning. But as many who received him, this is in 112, but as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of God. Hallelujah. To those who believe in his name. Amen. Hallelujah. So he's a light, and the Bible says, as many who receive him, to them they get the right to become the children of God, to those who believe in his name. Oh, hallelujah. What a beautiful passage of scripture. You should mark this down, and you should always know this that if you've received Jesus, John 1, 12, you have got now the right, and you have become the child of God. Hallelujah. And then it goes on to say still to those who believe in his name. Hallelujah. This is for everyone who believes in his name, who believes he is the Son of God who believes. He rose on the third day and he's seated and raised and alive. And at the right hand of God this beautiful morning. Hallelujah. His name. If you believe in his name, you have the right to be called the Son and Daughter of the Most High. And now listen to what one uh John 1 13 says who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of the will of God. Oh, hallelujah. Hallelujah. Some of you can feel the presence of God, and I want to tell you it's because He wants Himself to be known to you, because you will think today that you were the plan of your parents, but you are not. Hallelujah. You were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but you are born instead of the will of God. Oh, hallelujah! How amazing is this passage of scripture. If you only understand it this beautiful morning, that once you believe what Jesus has done on the cross, once you put your faith in him and his name, you are not born of an earthly plan. And I want to tell you that it changes everything. John 1, 14, 13, I'm sorry, changes everything. And you be it's just not possible. It's not possible. What do you mean it's not possible? It's the word of God that you have now become someone who's no longer on this planet because of the plan of your parents, who's no longer on this planet because of your plan of someone else, but you are on this planet because of the will of God. Hallelujah. By the plan of God, and you will say this is unbelievable. No, I don't believe this. Seriously, can can this be true? Yes, it is true. Believe it, it is the word of God, and your lineage is from the throne of God. Hallelujah. Your lineage is from God. Hallelujah. I actually have a very short word this morning, but it's deep. And you'll say, Then I don't get it. The thing is, you don't have to get it, you just have to understand it and believe it. That you think you're on this planet for other reasons, but you're on this planet because it's the will of God. And of course, yes, you have to believe in Jesus, and then your plan is that of the will of God. And you believe, but wait, you know what? I was born in X year, and I got to know Jesus in X year, but that's just the beauty of it. His blood travels back all generations to wipe out that slate clean to make you part of the will of God. And if you only understood that, you'll understand it this beautiful morning that you are part of
Heirs Of God And Real Inheritance
SPEAKER_00the will of the most high. Hallelujah. That's deep, isn't it? That's absolutely beautiful. And listen to this from Galatians 4:7. And therefore, you are no longer a slave, but you are a son, and I'm going to add a daughter. And if a son or daughter, then an heir of God through Christ. Hallelujah. Galatians 4:7, that is. Therefore, you're no longer a slave. You're no longer a slave to situations, you're no longer a slave to people, you're no longer a slave to the one who comes to lie, steal, and destroy, you're no longer a slave to financial debt, you're no longer a slave to diseases, you are no longer a slave to anything. But you are a son and a daughter of the Most High. You are an heir of God through Christ. Hallelujah. And if you think you're just somebody standing in this line on this planet who happened to have, you know, maybe no direction and no path and not sure where you're going, but that's because of you. Maybe you lost your compass. Maybe you forgot. Maybe you've never heard this. But you hear it now, and it's the word of God, and you are an heir to God, to Christ Jesus. Oh, hallelujah! Do you even understand that you and I, when you believe Jesus, when you believe in his name and what he did on that cross and where he is today, when you believe in his name, you are an heir of God. Hallelujah. And you'll say, But I I just I don't know. My my life on this planet has been just another journey. And as I said, maybe you have lost your compass. And maybe this word today is absolutely for you because maybe you need to throw that compass and get a new compass who's the whole who's the Holy Spirit. Hallelujah. And as I said, you're not just someone standing in line on this planet to receive what this world has to give you and just take it and walk off. You are, in fact, someone from Psalm 16.6, whose lines have fallen to pleasant places, and you have a good inheritance. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Mark this passage of scripture down. What a beautiful passage of scripture, Psalm 16.6, which says the lines have fallen to me in pleasant places. Hallelujah. I have a good inheritance. You absolutely have a good inheritance. You're the son and daughter of the most high. And if you have lived your life on this planet not knowing this, then you are absolutely here for a reason, and you're hearing this for a reason because your lines have fallen to your lines have fallen in pleasant places, and you have a fabulous inheritance. You have a fabulous inheritance. Your lineage comes from God. Do you think there's anything that limits God? Go look on the planet. Don't look at science, look at the planet, and then you will know there is no limit to what God can do. There is no limit to your inheritance. Amen. Hallelujah. And let me give you a small little glimpse of what is your inheritance today. Hallelujah. And as I said, you know, you might not be at that point in life right now or today. You might not be somebody who has lived that promise. But hey, with God, every everything is new. And you should just forget about the past, is my advice to you. And through the word of God, here's your inheritance to somebody who puts their faith in Jesus from 1 Peter 1.4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, that will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Another version says, to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven. Hallelujah. And you will say it's wait, wait, there's a trick. It's reserved in heaven. No, no, no. There's no trick. The Bible says he opens the floodgates of heaven. What do you think that means? When God opens the floodgates of heaven, and as I've already told you, you're his son and his daughter. You're not just a slave, you're not just somebody who inherited some small little things on this planet. You're a son and daughter of the Most High. And the Bible says he opened the floodgates of heaven to his sons and daughters. Who else will he open it to? So you have an incorruptible, undefiled inheritance that is reserved for you and does not fade away. Hallelujah. Let me tell you something about this planet. Everything on this planet will pass. Things will decay and rust. You can see, you know, in this day and age, you know, people reporting stuff like this has gone extinct and that's not there anymore, and this natural resource is getting depleted. That's the planet for you. But our inheritance in Jesus Christ is undefiled, incorruptible, and it's reserved. Hallelujah. What a beautiful passage of scripture. And today some of you need to hear this and understand it from the word of God. The book of Romans, it actually says that when you inherit, when you put your faith in Jesus, when you trust in him, when you trust in his name, you inherit the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit, and as I said, I'm not getting into this topic because of lack of time, but the Holy Spirit is here for you and me on your planet, on your journey on this planet.
The Holy Spirit Over Fear
SPEAKER_00Every day, each day. The Bible says there's a friend that sticks closer to the brother than a brother. Who do you think that is? That's the Holy Spirit who's with you every day at your right hand. As the Bible says, I'm with you at your right hand. Always. Hallelujah. And I want to tell you this morning, uh, maybe it's for some of you, maybe it's for quite a number of you, his inheritance is also the Holy Spirit that he left on this planet. And you know, Romans the 8th chapter even talks about it your inheritance in God through Christ Jesus. And since you have that spirit, I want to tell you this morning, as I said, this is for some of you. Somebody's battling with some with some sort of a decision here, and here's the answer to you. From 2 Timothy 1:7. For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but instead of power and love and of sound mind. Hallelujah. So as I said, you're the son and daughter of the most high. Your inheritance is beautiful. It's reserved for you. It's kept for you. It's unperishable. It's incorruptible. Some of the most beautiful words on this planet that are used for the scripture, imperishable, undefiled, never fade away. And for everything else, the spirit is with you. And that spirit is not a spirit of fear. So whatever it is you're dealing with this beautiful day, if there's something on your mind and it's stopping you from taking a step towards it, understand one thing: you are the son and daughter of the Most High, and you do not have the spirit of fear. Do you think at any cost anyone from the kingdom of God has the spirit of fear? No, it's not even a word in the heavenlies, hallelujah. And that's the reason why I have this. This is not even in my notes, and that's the reason why God called David a man of his own heart. He was a shepherd boy when he went and he stood in front of a battle-hardened nine-foot giant and said, Who is this guy who comes to me and comes to us? This uncircumcised Philistine who comes to us and challenges the armies of the living God. He wasn't talking about the Israelite army, he was talking about the spiritual army, which he could see probably. Hallelujah. Because the man of his own heart did not have fear. It never once said David had fear. I'm sure he did as a human being, but he never gave into it. And this is for someone this morning, as I Said, you do not have the spirit of fear. In case it's there, shrug it off. Take control of your situation. You do not possess the fear. The spirit of fear, it's not it's not in you. The spirit of timidity, another version calls it. Take the situation like David would. Hallelujah. And understand this beautiful morning. You are the son and daughter of the Most High. There's a passage of scripture in Revelation that says his name is on your forehead. Do you even understand that? In the spirituals, it can see you and it knows that you've been purchased, it knows your lineage. It knows where you've come from. It's like a diplomatic passport in the spiritual world. It's just free entry and exit. If you only understood it, I told you, maybe you've lost your compass. Maybe you've never used it. Maybe you never knew about it. So today just shut that door and just call unto Jesus because the Bible says, anyone who calls unto me, I will answer and I will show him great and mighty things. If he probably shows you your inheritance, you will be absolutely shocked and amazed at what he's kept aside for you because he loves you. And because you are his son, you are the inheritance of the most high. Hallelujah. You are the lineage of the most high. Your parents, your grandparents, and their line, you wonderful people has no say in your life anymore. So I come from this lineage, and you know everyone in this uh side of my family had X, Y, and Z, and I'm not even calling these silly things out, but they're not there because you are born of the Most High. You are born of the will of God. And if you understand that this morning today, you will know that nothing on this planet puts you in a box because God cannot be put in a box. Hallelujah.
David’s Courage And A New Compass
SPEAKER_00Understand it this beautiful morning, and know that you are the son and daughter of the most high. Hallelujah. I'd like to pray. I thank you for this beautiful word. I thank you for your double-edged sword that does not go back until it has achieved what it has been set out for. I thank you, Lord, for changing the hearts of your people who now know that they do not have a spirit of fear nor timidity, but one of love and strength and sound mind and judgment. And thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful time where people can feel your presence as you've rekindled your relationship with them and they with you because they know they're the sons and daughters of the most high. Thank you, Jesus, for anyone who puts their faith in you, who puts their trust in your name. You have given the right to become the children of the most high. And I thank you today, Lord, that people are turning to you. They're opening that door that you may enter and sup with them. And some of them are shutting that door and calling out to you where you will answer and show them great and mighty things that they know not of. Thank you, Jesus, for this beautiful time, for your beautiful presence. Thank you, Lord, for reassuring to us today this beautiful morning that we are not born of the will of man, nor of the will of anyone on this planet, but we are born instead of the will of God, and that means everything to anyone, Lord, and everyone. Thank you for this beautiful time. Thank you for this for the beautiful presence that some can feel of you standing at their right hand, letting them know that you are their father. Hallelujah. Thank you, Lord. Most of all, that our measuring lines are fallen and pleasant places. How beautiful is our inheritance in your name. That you will open the floodgates of heaven for your children and pour out such that they will not have room enough to contain
Prayer And Final Reassurance
SPEAKER_00it. Thank you, Lord, for this beautiful time, Lord. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.
