Laura Haley: [00:00:00] Hi,Travel Creators. Welcome back to another episode. Can you even believe we're nearing 50 freaking episodes? Of this podcast as well as almost an entire year of the podcast. How insane Jed and Janet slid into my dms and they're at @wanderism_travel. They were like, listen, we love listening to this podcast, but I want to know what podcast or what other things we can learn from.
Laura Haley: And I'm like, okay, cool. Let me send them your way. And I'm actually just going to create a podcast episode about all of the resources that I personally love to learn from, because I think that's going to be much more helpful. Better advice. They say, We're learning a lot about editing from YouTube. Maybe a podcast or idea on resources for learning about different pieces related to content creation.
Laura Haley: I've listened to a bunch and yours is one that has a lot of information and easy to listen to. Some other podcasts I find annoying and a lot of generic advice. So, I'm curious what podcasts you like. [00:01:00] That was from Janet. And I was like, for sure. So here they are from the girl on the other side of travel content creation. These are the places I go to to learn. Of course, the places you go to learn, I want to hear about them.
Laura Haley: Send them to me on Instagram @travelcontentwriting I want to freaking know. And I also want to know, are there other episodes you want to hear from? What travel questions do you have? Because I'll create an entire episode about them. All right, let's get into it. So, resources, I love. the first one is a podcast by Katie Stelke and it's called The Creator Club.
Laura Haley: Fantastic. She's great. She talks about all things content creation. Highly recommend If you're trying to learn more about YouTube videos, I highly recommend looking up on YouTube. VidIQ, V I D I Q, they have so much information about YouTube growth and I feel like they're always on top of the latest things that are happening. Like they're always posting, [00:02:00] did you see this new update, this thing just happened, let's share about it and what this means for creators.
Laura Haley: And I feel like they especially focus on smaller creators, which I think is really helpful because I go there to learn about how to grow on YouTube. But I like to go there to learn about the latest things on YouTube, even if they're tiny adjustments you can make to go a long way.
Laura Haley: Another person I like to learn from about YouTube growth is Erica. It is Erika, E R I K A, V I E R I A. I subscribe to her newsletter. She has, I believe, a resource. Maybe I can download a course on YouTube. See, this is the thing about courses. I'll come back to that in a second. Let's put a pin in that. Okay. On Instagram, I am obsessed with Pretty Little Marketer.
Laura Haley: She's amazing. She breaks down so many different case studies of what brands have done in their marketing and content creation and why it has worked or why it hasn't. She also is really real, I would say, and is like, listen, [00:03:00] videos are cool, but honestly I haven't posted a single one and I've grown on carousels to this massive audience.
Laura Haley: Super fascinating. Love it. Love everything about that account. Every time I see one of her posts, I stop and read them. And that probably says a lot about, you know, if especially if you listen to my episode on Attention and distraction that that means a lot. Okay, I love later like the the scheduling tool actually, you know what?
Laura Haley: I hate the scheduling tool later, but I love their blog. They have a fantastic blog about everything and I feel like that's like my first go to place when I'm like trying to learn about new things happening on the internet. I go to, I just googled later blog and see what's going on. It's so interesting and fascinating.
Laura Haley: They also do a real trend report, which I think is quite interesting to be honest. I don't look at that. I'm, not super interested. in the But if you are, they do a report, which is really cool. Ellen Yin. Oh my gosh, [00:04:00] I can't say enough about her. Her last name is Y I N. Man, oh man, you wouldn't be listening to this podcast if it wasn't for this woman.
Laura Haley: She has a podcast called Cubicle to CEO, and I have I just Man, I just listened to so much of it and she has transcripts as well Sometimes i've even literally printed them out and like highlighted and like taking notes like it's freaking class on her podcast She actually had a program. maybe it was called cubicle to ceo as well I can't remember but I joined it.
Laura Haley: I joined it before I started my business and it was Helping you get to like X certain revenue amount per month. Anyway, it doesn't matter It was so awesome and helpful and helped me set up so many systems and things. Unfortunately, it's not a program She offers anymore, but all of the advice that generally you can learn from her other resources She has a new fantastic resource called pay to create where you can set up an entire course in like four days with her live It's so cool.
Laura Haley: I [00:05:00] did it. It was like 50. It was so fun but a lot of her advice you can learn from her podcast and she has a fantastic newsletter. It's so skimmable and beautiful and has such good content. I can't say enough good things. Another woman I love is Letitia Collins and I actually am a part of her membership, the audience growth membership and I've, some of the podcast guests you've heard have come from those connections there, but she focuses on helping you build an audience and grow an audience and it's, it's really freaking cool actually.
Laura Haley: We love. Love her email as well, as well as, honestly, all of her offers are amazing. another blog that I frequently visit is ConvertKits, which now is just known as Kit. They have an amazing blog, amazing resources. They also have amazing newsletter, where Um, they share case studies, which I have always found so fascinating.
Laura Haley: So they highlight somebody, a ConvertKit user, and [00:06:00] they share about a strategy they've taken or accomplished or whatever. And they show you what they did, and what, how it worked well, or if it didn't, or what this creator did to make X amount or do X amount. It was really fascinating. Honestly, I always love reading them. Every single one is a banger. Newsletter circle. Oh my gosh, this is a newsletter for newsletter creators, and I actually got to meet the creator of the newsletter.
Laura Haley: And spoiler alert, she's coming on the podcast, and we're going to talk all about newsletters. This woman. She researches in depth newsletters every single week, and she dissects them to learn, like, what they're doing to be successful. in their newsletter growth and how you can apply it to you. It's amazing.
Laura Haley: I'm just constantly blown away by how much time she puts into this. And then, it's not like she's just dumping this, like, gross, long ass text into your inbox. She is formatting them beautifully. [00:07:00] And they're so easy to read and the sections are just repeatable and amazing.
Laura Haley: So I would say honestly If you are wanting to start a newsletter and you haven't grabbed my free newsletter template one do that and then two subscribe to this woman's newsletter then subscribe to the newsletter circle because Just the way that newsletter is structured is a fantastic example of what you can do as well She has a lot of content on there.
Laura Haley: So don't be like me You know, don't freak out just
Laura Haley: you don't have to start with so much content. Just know this Another podcast I love is the mindset mentor. Oh my gosh This is amazing. I love listening to this podcast when i'm walking It's by a man I don't listen to a lot of podcasts by men actually not like i'm not doing that specifically specifically, or I'm not like seeking out women hosted podcasts, but that just kind of happens.
Laura Haley: That's just kind of a happenstance, a coincidence, I suppose, and I'm not mad about it, but this is a man on a podcast I've listened to [00:08:00] whose advice doesn't feel bro y. He is totally of the mindset of, listen, I built a business and I worked really hard and I absolutely burned myself out and that was not the way to do it and I know that it's possible to build a successful business without burning yourself out.
Laura Haley: And I was like, yes, more of this. So he is a bro, but his podcast is not bro y. And he has literally years of podcasts. I think he releases four a week. It's insane. But they're short. They're like 15, 17 minutes. I love to listen to them while I'm walking. They're fantastic. I highly encourage you to actually listen to them while you're walking or being outside because You're outside and you can kind of think more clearly. We love that. The Freelance Fairytale Podcast is a podcast that is now deceased. So sad. But it is by Alex Fasulo and I used to listen to this all the time. All the time when I first started working on the side like when I had a job and then I discovered the word freelancing She's my go to girly I learned so much stuff [00:09:00] from her.
Laura Haley: she Focuses on helping you grow mostly on fiverr But I think there are a ton of principles she shares in that podcast that are useful to anybody, whether you decide to put services on Fiverr or not. Highly recommend, just a great listen. I also love The Bold Founder by Lucy, who has been a guest on this show, and I was actually a guest on her show.
Laura Haley: So you should head on over there and listen to that. That was so much fun. But she is a genius little angel and she is a verbal strategist. So if you're wanting to kind of hone in on talking about yourself or your services or your business or your content creation, she's your lady. And she literally interviewed a guest and before the podcast was over, I had purchased that guest product.
Laura Haley: That's how crazy it was. It was so good. I remember vividly where I was listening to it. But I wanted to give you a little inside scoop on the resources that I listen to often. Where I do my learning. [00:10:00] I would love for you to share with me more resources.
Laura Haley: These also just are in the digital world. The best advice we could ever get from the world is from people who I would love for you to And I know that sounds like so, I don't know, bad, but I heard someone say that recently and I was like, that's so true. What I mean by this is books. Okay, the people who have done it all and know it all.
Laura Haley: Have written books about it and they're just sitting on shelves waiting for us Reading is one of my favorite things to do. I always want to do more of it always And I spend a lot of time reading different content creation books to like crazy fiction books So I created an episode of this show on books that have helped me advance my creator journey That's going to be a recurring thing because I just read too many to not update it all the time So I would head on over to that episode if you want insight into physical books I'm reading to help me do this content creation thing better.
Laura Haley: Speaking of courses, let's pull that pin real quick. I'm [00:11:00] actually Taking my diy content repurposing course that I created that over 200 people downloaded first of all, what the hell? That's freaking amazing and i'm turning it into a program. You can walk through with a small cohort of other students to Learn in community and live with me i'm actively Building that program in public on my instagram where you can watch me share daily updates of what i'm doing To help you spend less time on your content creation and more time on things in your business that freaking matter If you want to be one of the first people to know When that's going to go live. This is a great place to show up on the podcast as well as on the instagram I'm only opening 10 spots for the first cohort and I want you to be one of them So keep your ears and eyes glued to my Instagram and this podcast.
Laura Haley: Please let me know if you have any other episodes or questions you want answered. I would freaking love to answer them for you [00:12:00] on the show. So head on over to my Instagram, send me a DM, drop me a question, and I'll answer it on the podcast. Okay, have a great week. I love you so much. Happy creating! I'll see you next week.
