Lowly Yogi Tales and other Stuff
Season 2, Ep. 19. Spirit Foot Test of the Soveriegn, Self Chapter 4
Spirit Foot shares her teachings of the fire keeper, forbearance, discipline, will and timing.
Earth, mother and friends, you cross our heart. Hello, hello, hello, and welcome to the Lola Yogi Tales and Other Stuff podcast. Ah, so good to have you all back here. Yes. Well, me and the spirits are dancing. I'm looking up at the shrine right now, and I got Stan, the hair beyond compare, looking down at me with his beautiful shade and all sorts of wonderful beings. And today, I want to talk about how we protect those beings, and that means we're going to be reading chapter 4 of Spirit Foot, Test of the Sovereign Self. Chapter 4 is entitled, Path of the Firekeeper, Refining the Middle Way. So let's do it. Refining the Middle Way. Here we go. Spirit Foot, Test of the Sovereign Self, Path of the Firekeeper, Refining the Middle Way. Does the pact of the shards teach a path to the middle way? Oh, you tricky ethers, you! Of course it does! And thank you for asking! The mother's way, the way of the shard, as they are beings of fire, is the way of the hearth. Hearth, hearth, and home. Hearth and home, food, warmth, and fun. Story and teachings. Teachings of the ancient gods. The path of the shard in the realm of beauty is the path of the firekeeper. The path of tending the hearth of the great mother. The ground, the view of the practice, is that we make our realities through the practice of the four qualities of the spirit warrior. Forbearance or benevolence is the first. The holding of power is the holding and integrating its resonance into the larger whole. It's resonance often being the holding of uncomfortable feeling, get over the notion of comfort, as that doesn't come until the weaving has begun. Hold in the discomfort, not personal, just the process of forbearance. The first and foundation for the rest. Forbearance is the training ground of the spirit yogi's resistitude, and the first step on the journey to becoming a firekeeper. Forbearance is the mother's fire teaching us to grow and mature. Only as we learn to endure discomfort do we come to know our strength. The Firekeeper learns through holding bearing the change that they may integrate its power and learn the deeper places within the human shell. There is an interesting truth I have found over the years that to hold, sit, and do nothing is often the best course of action. This truth has been confirmed in my journeys again and again as it seems to make room for more possibilities. Doors are new paths open when things are given space. Environments can change when the discomfort within is so honored, felt, touched, leaving room for movement, healing, and resolution. Forbearance builds the coals of the fire to bring the heat for a long, healthy flame and a warm and happy hearth. Simple, not easy resonates loudly here. It is this process of forbearance that both lets us know where our insecurities are, left from the shock of our descent into the soup of nemesis. The process of holding forbearance also shows us that within our being, we hold the strength to meet it, not become it. To hold in forbearance naturally gives birth to the next torch of the Firekeeper, Discipline. There will be times for the Geruda where it feels never ending, and the texture of the venom becomes an exhaustion to hold. Without discipline, the firekeeper and Garuda can never make it through. It's all good in the end. If it's not good, it's not the end, was one of the slogans I used to hold my discipline, when the fire felt as though it would never end. Hey, it ends, and then it begins again, and the practice of making it into a discipline, the discipline of the resistitude of the mother's love, the mother's vibration. For human beings, that mother's love can be found in the heart center. One of my old friends told me, as we rambled towards another adventure, the crazy reverend friendly called out with wild eyes, I can't tell you the word of God. No man nor woman can tell you the word of God. No priest or hierophant can tell you the word of God. The word of God is a whisper in your heart and you have to be silent to hear it. Yes, you have to silence yourself to hear it. As the Queen of Obscure References can, I can also share with you the human heart is said to be the throne of Brahman. And that resonance of God is found in the heart of the human. A small rose floating on that throne of silence. The discipline to not take things too seriously. The discipline of having fun, putting one's attention to the task and learning to do it well. This is discipline. When we know how to wield our discipline, there is nothing we cannot learn how to do, and with the refinement of the practice, we learn to do it well. The discipline of the Firekeeper is to learn how to hold Hestia's flame. Hestia, Uma, again so many names. Uma's flame is Hestia's flame. Another obscure reference, have heard it called Sita's flame. All flame into flame and fire into fire. The firekeeper is working to hold the discipline of the most potent flame. The fire that holds all other fires within its blaze. This is the fire that holds the resonance of Kama's creative. To hold up all of the mother's law, the discipline that allows for the firekeeper to hold up all the hearths of the mother's creation. Every hearth, every titan's task. Fire within, the law of the great mother's love. Meet her of even great Shiva's wrath. She teaches the firekeeper to endure until all that is left within them is the indestructible. Once forbearance and the taste for discipline has formed, will is soon to follow. A shard's will can be given some very hard hits upon entry. Will is drained by discomfort, and there is plenty of that in the soup of nemesis. Will is the force within that holds. If it is not strong, the shard cannot weave. This is when the chicken has yet to transform into the Garuda. Shards that present as chickens have yet to develop their will, and are often at the stage where they must be reminded and reoriented. You are in the soup of nemesis. Move, move, move. We are all depending on you. That usually gets the will going, Spiritfoot laughed. I think I lost myself in a rabbit hole. The will brings me back. When you lose your mind, come back. And when you are back, you are here. There's nothing wrong nor right with here. Just here. We are all in Barbara's hell is one of the calls of the pact of the shards. Don't get caught in the shock and all hold to the sticking plate. Hold no matter the storm, hold the will, or rather let the will hold. We are looking for the gentleman C all the way. The middle way warrior who holds their weight, yet calls, no attention to themselves. This is the path of the firekeeper. Seventy percent, no less, no more. The practice of forbearance begins to heal the will. And the success of each discipline gives rise to the will's desire to thrive again. And it is at this point that the chicken really begins its transformation. The success of each discipline gives confidence and healing to the wounds of the past, freeing the will it took to hold the discomfort of being in a human body and up against the task of transforming it from the inside out. Don't worry, you can do it. Another slogan from the pact. You have the shard within you. Another remind and reorient situation, and crucial to the mission at hand. How can you weave if you can't hold your mind? You silly Yogini, what do you mean by weaving? Ho ho ho, you wily trickster ethers who know the know and do the do. Another great question. The journey to weaving is the journey from chicken to Garuda, and the passage one must take. Is to develop the will to hold hotter and hotter flames until the will can hold the pure creative and allow its power to settle into the blood. Will is blood, the holder and the mover of the fire of attention. Blood and chi, will and attention, the ancient recipe for a Garuda's success. Without both, just a chicken running with their head cut off. Sad, and makes you want to say a lot of mantra and bless the chicken with a good rebirth. What I am trying to share with the silly ethers is that without will or the training of the blood to hold the most potent, Hestia's love, the will will not allow the surrender needed. The training of forbearance is the training in the deeper and deeper surrender, and this trains the blood of the human body to hold and direct the shard within, waiting to integrate and release its most potent medicine. Did you catch that bit? The attention of the shard is the medicine they bring to the field. Oh, I know you did. When the, when forbearance and discipline have done their work and Will is ready to hold the attention of the Shard, and this is when the transformation to Garuda takes place and leads to the fruition of the Fire Keeper and the Dream Weaver. First, a spirit yogi learns how to tend a fire, and these come with the practice of forbearance and discipline. The hearth is kept and the home supported. The practice of the firekeeper and honoring the mother and meeting her needs through forbearance and discipline strengthens the will to the fine point where the firekeeper learns how to weave their flames into new dreams. Remind and reorient. Because if we shards a line and a tune as one, the venturi draw of love becomes unstoppable. That, my friends, is the good stuff. When our will is strong enough, we can truly understand and practice timing. With timing, we learn to dance with fire. To hold its hand and share its many resonances. The task, as I choose to accept it, is to learn the timing of each and every spirit pulse and how they dance to hold up the many wonders of the Great Mother. The discipline of fun, a trick I learned from Santos, made relaxing into the pulses of timing a joy. With timing, one learns to wield their blood and weave reality in, to their intention. Probably good that it is an earned practice, as to be a firekeeper is such a responsibility that only the resistitude of the mother's love and the practice of benevolence will do. It really is worth every bit of sacrifice to dance freely with the flames and to weave the mother's creation to her fancy. The practice of timing is counterintuitive. As it is the practice of surrendering without giving up, again and again. Each time the fire keeper finds the deeper pulse, the fire offers a gift of knowledge and wisdom to fill the need of the spirit yogi. There is a mind cracking joy in the moment of surrender where we cross from the hells of the potency of Shiva's terrible wrath into the pure, complete nurturing of the mother's love. It's all good in the end. If it's not good, it's not the end. Describes this transition in such a gentle way. Child love returning to ocean mother love is another way of describing the moment. The dance of timing is the dance of surrender. Space hearing allowing each spirit to teach their healing rhythm. How do these four skills teach the chicken to step into the role of the Hero Spirit Yogi, Fire Hearth Keeper, and Garuda? Aethers, you are a badass of badassery. What a perfect lead in. How did you know? No answer, no worries. The Aethers know not to interrupt a spirit foot when she is running free in the fields of Dharma. The hearth is a torc for human beings to teach them through relationship with residents to find the middle way. How can a torc be a hearth? How can a hearth be a torque? Tricky, because it works both ways, and you still have no clue as to what I'm talking about, do you? If I said blood and chi, would that clarify things or make it all more confusing? Ha ha ha ha ha! I love it when I make things more confusing. So much fun, as all the words are talking about the same thing. How making and keeping a fire guides us. To the resonance of every tork, and as we hold the resonance, the hearth blazes with a happy fire. The tork guides the firekeeper to the middle way, the resonance, using the mother's resentment and the father's shame. The hearth of the mother is the blood, which is the fuel, calling for the flame to nest and meet the needs of life. Creative attention is the fuel, energy, fire that is called into the mother's blood to create life. To feed that life its individual needs so that it may grow. So that it may grow in accord with the mother's plan. Without the light of attention, the blood will begin to stagnate. As it cools and stagnates, the gorgon's wrath, the naga's venom, forms into the mother's resentment. If there is too much attention, too much creative for the blood to hold, the creative fire burning up the mother the father's shame will form, and the father's shame will form any time the father's watchful eye is not used to protect the mother's creation, and the mother's resentment will form when anything is taken without consent. Avoiding the father's shame and the mother's resentment is the torque of the hearth that leads the spirit yogi and the fire keeper down the path of the middle way. The torque, the hearth of the mother, teaches us to find each law's resonance and over and over again the flame of Hestia's hearth. Mother's resentment, father's shame, both burn equally in Hestia's flame. No ash, just love. There we are, next week we will step further.
