EP 46 Floods, Fishing, a Bit of Friendly Fire and a Closure

2 Pelican's

Welcome back to the 2 Pelicans Podcast, we dive straight into a massive week for fishing fanatics and waterway warriors across Australia.

This week’s been anything but calm, with wild weather and floods wreaking havoc across the region. We unpack the impact these floods have had, especially on local fisheries and access to our favourite spots.

🎣 Tough Conditions at Whyalong Dam & Battle of the Border
We also recap a rugged weekend of competition fishing, starting with the Bass Electric at Whyalong Dam. If you were out there, you know just how brutal the conditions got. From sideways rain to glassed-out calm, it was anyone’s guess when the bass would fire up.

Then there was the QTS Battle of the Border – and yep, the rivalry is still alive and well. Tune in as we debate (somewhat civilly) which state took home the glory. Was it the Sunshine State or those proud southerners? There's a bit of controversy, and let's just say – the Pelicans may not agree…

🏕️ Toonumbar Dam Closure – Say What?!
In a shock move, Water NSW has closed the campgrounds at Toonumbar Dam. Yep – WTF?! This decision has sparked outrage among local fishers and campers who rely on the area for recreation, comps, and community catch-ups.

To shed more light, we called in David from the Kyogle Fishing Club (KFC) to talk about the fallout and what can be done. There’s a petition to get the campgrounds reopened, and it needs your support. We’ll drop the link in the comments – please sign and share!

📞 Listener Call-ins & Shoutouts
Finally, we hear from a couple of our loyal listeners who phoned in with some cracking yarns and insights. Keep the calls coming – we love hearing your stories from the water and beyond.

📝 Don’t forget to like, share, and leave a review if you enjoy the show – and sign that petition to help support your local fishing community!

Until next time – tight lines, and keep it reel!
