And that being said, today we've got a really great guest speaking of the things going on in the world of hypnosis. We have Ronna Frazier with us, the founder of the Hypnosis Summit in Portugal, international speaker, trainer, and author. And without any further ado, we are going to welcome her this morning. Good morning, Rana. Hope I'm safe to be able to do this.
SPEAKER_01I get all different versions of the name depending on where in the world I am. So I respond to almost everything.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I've been a public servant. You can just go, like, hey, you in the blue, come here. I will do that. So we are broadcasting live on our Facebook page, and I'm going to make sure that we're broadcasting on our YouTube page as well. And it appears to be that we are indeed broadcasting. And we are broadcasting on our website at Hypno World Magazine. So we yeah, we're we're everywhere. Um, and if you want to be on the show, right here is the website to go to. We'll let that on the leave that on the ticker tape there for a little bit. But let's talk about it. Um, the Hypnosis Summit Portugal. It always seems, as we were talking, I find out about these things too late. Uh so I can never seem like whenever I find out about something like this, I'm like, I should go to that. I can't go to that. That's I'm too deep in other stuff. But it is on my radar for next year.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, we still have some time, right? It's in October, it's the first weekend of October. And uh yes, so it's a brand new uh hypnosis uh conference, it's uh the Hypnos Summit Portugal, and it was just an idea that I had that I just simply couldn't shake. And I mean, a lot of you have seen me around at other conferences, and I live in Portugal, I live in Lisbon, and I absolutely love it here. And I actually realized that there is nothing at all, not in Portugal, not in Spain. So I thought might as well, might as well, you know, start it because Lisbon also is such a beautiful place that brings the right energy as well. And so I had the idea and I started mentioning it last year at Hypnothought, and people were really interested. So then that obviously got me really excited about it, and then uh yeah, put the speaker applications out. And within two weeks, I had 53 speaker applications. So, as you can imagine yourself, you know how it is, Dan. You know, selecting the the right lineup for an event, you know, is incredibly exciting, but also very challenging. And yeah, so it is happening, and the speaker lineup is confirmed, the dates are confirmed, the hotels confirmed. So yeah, Hypno Summit Portugal is ready to go.
SPEAKER_00Excellent. And you know what? I am gonna throw that up there. That is the QR code, and I've added the link there for you guys to check out the website, but you can also scan the QR code and go and check out and get your tickets uh if you haven't got your tickets uh already. So that looks really good. I'm just gonna go ahead and leave that up there. Lisbon looks beautiful. Uh, I've been to Spain, I've been to Rota, Spain, and a couple other one or two other places. Um, it was the 90s, it was very full decade. There's some gaps in my memory. But uh I think that was the I think that was the first time I ever had sangria, if or if I'm saying that right, uh, was I was in Rota, Spain.
SPEAKER_01Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that is a potent drink. It will catch up to you because you know, it doesn't taste like you're drinking alcohol. So you by the time you've done, you've gone through two pictures and you realize this could be a problem.
SPEAKER_01Um but they're very interesting drinks here in in Portugal as well. And the best the best about it is that it's actually really cheap, you know. So that's the that's a good thing um that is still happening in Portugal, especially compared to the US, compared to the rest of Europe. So yeah. I mean, I love Lisbon. I've been here for three years now, and it's just such a beautiful city. It's it's such an Instagrammable city as well. Like, even though I've been here for so long, every day when I go out for my walk, I always take a video, always take photos, even though I've seen everything like a hundred times already. But maybe the sunlight is different today, or you catch the sunset, or you know, the colors just look different. So it's just such a really beautiful and and charming uh city. It's absolutely I love it here.
SPEAKER_00Yes, I have been checking out your website and looking at some of the pictures, and I just thought to myself, oh my god, that is a just a gorgeous backdrop uh for a summit of hypnosis or hypnotherapy, if you will. And you have a great lineup. Adam Cox is gonna be there. Um, you're gonna be there. Uh, I can't remember, you know, you probably should talk about your lineup.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sure. Um, I'd love to. And I'm I'm very uh delighted to uh be able to present the lineup uh like this because it's some of the most recognized names in in modern uh hypnosis, also the most recognized names in Portuguese hypnosis because obviously it's the Portugal hypnosummit. So I want to give the Portuguese hypnotherapists a stage as well to present their work. So, as you already said, Adam will be uh joining us, and I'm very excited about it. Adam is one of my uh favorite hypnotherapists there is. I mean, his voice is incredible. And uh if you don't know Adam yet, he is also the host of the most popular, most um well-known hypnotherapy uh podcast, the hypnotist. So if you haven't checked that out, check it out because it's incredible what he does there. So Adam will be joining us, and he will actually give a whole session around uh exploring the unconscious patterns that uh we have that shape our success, our risk assessment, uh, but also our financial limitations. So that's going to be very interesting. Uh Anthony Chakwin will be here, which is also, I'm very happy that Anthony will be here to join us for a whole um session on self-hypnosis. And this one is actually a big one because I've seen actually um conversations online in hypnotherapy groups on on Facebook where the question was, well, if you are a hypnotherapist, are you even practicing self-hypnosis yourself?
SPEAKER_00And uh oh, I think you froze. So it looks like Ron has froze. So hopefully she will unfreeze here in a moment. We lost her, she'll have to she'll come back on. Um, but while we wait for Rana to pop back on, um this is gonna be a good summit. So hopefully that works out really, really well. And the joys of going live. I am gonna go ahead and I think share that QR code again really quick, just to let you guys know where she's gonna be at and where you can find the Hypnosis Summit in Portugal. And I will just send her a message. So just let her know it's the same link. And see if we can get her back on to the podcast. So as often happens, for whatever reason, we have lost Rana. But while we wait, I have one more thing to mention to you guys. So right now, if you head over to the national, no, not national, North American Hypnotherapy Guild, here she is. Okay, coming back. There you are. I mean, how long?
SPEAKER_01How long have I been talking about? Hi there. Hello.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, so yeah, we lost you there for a second, um, but that's okay. It is the joys of going live and having that happen. So we were talking about self-hypnosis.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so okay, I got to Anthony Chakwin. Good, fantastic. Yeah, so Anthony will be teaching self-hypnosis. It's funny. I I was talking and talking and talking, and then I heard your message pop up on Facebook. Um, so yeah, Anthony will be hosting a session on self-hypnosis. Um, Gila Zach is going to come over from the US, so she will be representing uh the US at my summit. And uh Sheila is incredible. I mean, she's my uh secret weapon myself. So I'm very happy that she's coming over. And she will be doing a session to explore the relationship between self-perception, identity, and also the connections that we form. So, as you can tell, like all those different topics, they are all different, however, they're all interconnected. So it's not a summit with like random uh sessions. Uh, it's it's really under the umbrella of unlocking human potential. And all the sessions form basically a two-day journey rather than just individual um, you know, individual talks. Um, from the from Portugal, we have Ana Baragau, who's actually Portugal's number one neuroscientist. She's also a psychologist, neuropsychologist, and she happens to be a clinical hypnotherapist as well. She will give us a very nice introduction and um connection between neuroscience and hypnosis. Mario Rui Santos, he is probably the most well-known hypnotherapist in Portugal. He will be joining us as well on a session on self-sabotage. Um, yeah, it's an incredible, incredible lineup. Uh, who else do we have? Anthony Abagnano. He is a hypnotherapist, but not really that active within our um like our usual, our usual gang, if you will. He's the founder of Alchemy of Breath, which is the number one breathwork institute in the world. So he will be joining, making the connection between hypnosis and breathwork, and uh how to regulate the nervous system. Cristodora, a lot of you know Cristodora, she's coming from Spain to represent our neighbor. She will be uh teaching us how we can actually transform fear and anxiety into power. So, yeah, as you can tell, there is a lot, lot going on, and it's going to be super practical. So the intention is not to sit there in a room all day just listening to an academic lecture. This is all individual experiential sessions that in all together total uh will form a uh personal transformation journey. And whether you already are a hypnotherapist or not, it doesn't matter because you know you go on that journey, and then of course, you put all those tools that you learn in your toolbox as we do, and then you can go share it with your clients as well. Um, yeah, it's an event that's open to the public because what I would like to do is really get people curious about what we do, because that all of the topics that we address at the summit is is it's basically challenges that so many people have, but they don't even realize that there is something they can do about it. But of course, with hypnosis, we have a whole other set of options that we can offer somebody. So um, not only for us as hypnotherapy professionals, it's also open to medical professionals, it's open to anybody who's interested in hypnosis and personal development, and yeah, offering this journey for all of us alike.
SPEAKER_00So excellent. Um yeah, the medical, the the medicine side there is really important. Uh, we try to here in Michigan and other places, I know that a lot of people have. I've worked with hospitals and doctors, and just getting hypnosis and hypnotherapy into that venue uh can be hugely important to make those connections and those collaborations. And I like that you've set it up not as uh individual academic talks, but as that whole process, that in-depth um engagement. Uh so that is gonna be amazing. See, now people are just like, well, if I'm gonna be engaged, I should go there. So it's one of those great things that's happening. Uh I the I can't think of her name. She's from Spain. I think I met her at the end. Cristadoa, Cristadoa. Yes. Yeah, I met her at the Irish Hypnosis Conference. So last year, she was very nice. Um, at least she was nice to me because I was I was having a tough time that first day I got there. I I think that was the last time for me. I will just say this and I'll ask you. I know you travel a lot to conferences, but I'm gonna be 56 this year. I think that was it for me. That was the last red-eye flight I'm gonna be able to do.
SPEAKER_01Oh, red eyes are a killer. I did two in in a span of three days, once, and then I was basically knocked out for two weeks after that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I I had to because uh we had the ice storm and I work as a public servant, so I stayed late and I got on the flight, and I'm like, oh, red-eyed, I've done this before. And I didn't realize like the last time I really took a red eye, I think I was like 42, 45. Um, so 55. That's the magic number for me. I'm like, that is the last red eye I take. Because that'll kill you.
SPEAKER_01Um, the beautiful thing about coming to Portugal is that it's not just a conference, right? Because I mean, everybody I've talked to um who has already gotten their ticket, they really make it an experience where they're gonna add a couple of days here and there, like before or after, uh, because it's such a beautiful country to explore as well, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I always say that if you're going to any conference anywhere, you know, add some time, build some time, buffer some time in there, and do some sightseeing. Uh, because if you just go for the conference, which is probably great, but if you go and you experience the area that the conference is being held in, it just makes the experience that much richer. And absolutely. Yeah, then you just say, Well, I'm gonna go back next year, because then you start building it in. That's my conference. I go there, that's what I do every year. Um, and that becomes a really great thing because Lisbon, I think I think you you're on to something here. I think I think that this is gonna work out for you. At least I certainly hope that you have uh great success with this and that it goes on at least next year, so I can make it. So I know I'm I'm I'm I have no shame. I will tell you that right now. It's all about me getting to Lisbon.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay. Well, let's do it next year just for you.
SPEAKER_00All right.
SPEAKER_01But of course, of course, the plan is the of course the plan is to uh make this like a permanent fixture, you know, uh joining the other international conferences. And uh because you just talked about sightseeing and having a cultural experience, that's actually something that I have already added to the conference as well. I just want to mention that because uh, as you just said, sometimes, you know, we go to a conference and then it's just like a quick in and out, and we end up sitting in a room all weekend, and then we already have to catch a flight back because obviously we all have a life, we all have commitments and things like that. So, as part of the actual conference, um, I have already included uh very consciously um uh cultural immersion, if you will. So on the Saturday evening, the evening entertainment will not be like a usual gala dinner, but an actual cultural immersive experience for the attendees. Uh, because as I said, I love Lisbon, I love Portugal, so it's gonna be all about food and music and really immersing yourself into the experience and getting a flavor of uh what Portugal has to offer. So the Hypno Summit Portugal is basically a combination of the two: the learning and the playing within the cultural context.
SPEAKER_00So excellent. Um, because that is I I I love that. You know, I love to go places if I'm traveling, I do want to do that. I don't try to find um the McDonald's per se. And I that's a bad way to say it. But you know, I I do know people that travel and they'll go someplace and like, oh, I want this type of food. No, no, I want to eat, I want to eat what the people there eat. You know, if you go to Spain, I wanted to eat. I went to Greece, I wanted to eat, I wanted to see what was going on there per se.
SPEAKER_01And I mean, the food is amazing here, it's so fresh and it's it's it's real food, you know. And yeah, I'm just I'm so I'm so excited. You know, I just want to invite everybody. I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna show you around, you know. I want to want you to have that experience of of Lisbon. I want to share that love I have for this place uh with you. And as I said, the the food is really great, and there is so much to see in the city, so much to learn, so much to explore. So I'm I'm super excited. I can't wait. I mean, I don't want it to be tomorrow because there's still a lot I need to do. Oh, yeah, but but you know what I mean. Like, I'm I'm really looking forward to to this event. And I mean, we already have people coming over from the US. Um, we have people coming over from Canada, from all over Europe. So uh I'm just I mean, it blows my mind, you know, because that's obviously a huge uh commitment for everybody, and yeah, but the excitement is definitely it's tangible, you can you can feel it, you know.
SPEAKER_00So yes, and I know that the article which you wrote about the the summit is going to be out in the spring issue of Hypnosis Hypno World magazine. So you guys will be able to check it out there as well. And the name of the venue that it's at, what where where is it being held at?
SPEAKER_01Uh it's at the Phoenix Hotel in Markesh de Pombal, which is very much in the center of Lisbon, which means you can literally walk out the door and you're right in the middle of you know, the center of Lisbon. So everything is right at your doorstep, and it's very easy to get to from the airport. It takes like 10 minutes. Uh very cheap by Uber, very cheap by uh metro. The metro station is right outside, costs like a euro 50 or something. So it's very, very easy to get to, it's very easy to navigate from. Uh, it's everything is walkable because you're right bang on in the center. And uh it's a four-star hotel. They also offer us a discount. So the link is also on the website. And uh they told me to let everybody know to book the accommodation also as early as possible because the prices are not fixed. It's a little bit like flights where the prices change and they go up and they go down, uh, but mostly up. Um, so the link is on the website as well. So they offer a 10% discount for the attendees of the current online rate that they offer. And yeah, it's a super nice hotel. Interesting thing with that hotel was actually I always was kind of like drawn to it. I've never stayed there, but obviously I checked it out by now. But I was always drawn to it because of the name, because the name is Phoenix. And I was always like, I wonder what's about this hotel. And then when I had the Hypno Summit idea, that was actually the first uh hotel that came into my mind where I would like to host it because it just, you know, it just resonated. And of course, I did a big exploration with other venues and other locations, and it actually turned out to be the perfect location for what I was looking for. So excellent three years ago, I didn't know anything that this would ever happen, right? Like three years ago, I didn't think about a hypnosum at Portugal, but that that hotel already had like its its draw somehow.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, you know what? Um, it it happens. I've talked to a lot of guys, a lot of people that are Canada, the Hypnosis Summit, um, Hypno LA. Uh has we all had that. You know, nobody has ever said, you know, I while I was working just in my practice, uh, I never thought to myself, one day I'm gonna have my own conference. It was just like, I need enough clients to pay the rent on this office, was what I was concerned with. Um, but I will say this, and I will agree with you, and I'm gonna tell everybody if you're watching or if you're watching this on the replay, get your hotel room. Book your hotel room now, and you know, then you can get your flight, then you can get your ticket. But make sure you get that hotel room because I don't know how many rooms you have for them to hold on to, or or if it's just a discount. But you know, you run out of rooms, you run out of discount.
SPEAKER_01That's very, that's very true. And uh talking about running out, a third of the tickets are actually already gone. So it's a very uh intentionally small conference. So it's basically um it's like a boutique conference because it's designed as a personal journey rather than like a big convention. So it's not about uh the volume and the noise, it's really about creating a contained space, you know, for really uh deep connection and and transformation. So the tickets are limited to 100 tickets, and uh remember it's also open to the public. So um the the tickets, once the the tickets are gone, there's not gonna be more. I'm not going to increase the attendees or the number of attendees just because I could, uh, because that would impact the whole vibe of of the conference. So just be mindful of that as as well.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. We do I do the same thing at Michigan. Yeah. Um, my business partner, I, you know, because you want your conference or your summit to have a good flow and a good feeling. There's too many people there um in your space. And I don't know how big your space is, but ours isn't that big. Um that that that connection, those networks that you create, those friendships that you have the opportunity to really sit down and talk with the people that are going to be there. And I know that probably a lot of people are gonna want to go, I'm gonna sit down with with Ronnie, I'm gonna sit down with Adam Cox, I want to sit down with, I want to have a moment to. It's not just okay. I I've been to the big conferences, the the Nam shows and for entertainment. And you you're you bump into a guy, oh hey, let's have lunch and talk. Then you never have lunch.
SPEAKER_01No, I mean, NAM, NAM is is uh is like the extreme, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yes. Um, I I don't do entertainment anymore, so I don't have to go to those. Um, my business partner bought me out of the production company, thank God. Um, which I started by accident, which was basically we started Fire Mine Productions as stage hypnosis, so I could get shows, take it off my taxes, get enough money to go to hypnothots. Uh, that was our plan at the time.
SPEAKER_01So, I mean, anybody who knows NAM, my hypnosummit is like the exact opposite of NAM. I think that's a good, that's a good um comparison or distinction, really.
SPEAKER_00It is. And uh I will say this. I will say this. Uh, I agree with you. I think that, you know, while the big conferences are amazing, um really you need those independent conferences, those, those, those, those small gatherings where we come together and really have a profound impact. Um, and it sounds like you've set that up just for that. And I hope that yes. Yeah, yeah. And I hope that that is something that continues as well. So Dennis G. Lawson says hello, so as well as Amanda Dodd say hello. So hello, Amanda.
SPEAKER_01Thanks for joining.
SPEAKER_00So, yes, um, Amanda was like, Dan, you gotta get a hold of Ron Ron Fraser, and you gotta have her on your podcast. I said, Well, yeah, I would love to. And I do what Amanda tells me to because if I don't, she won't stop telling me.
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm thanks to Amanda. I appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00I I pick on her, she's good people. Um, she is absolutely is. Yeah, she's on the planning board for the Michigan Hypnosis Conference. Um, and that is one thing. Do you have a planning board or are you doing this yourself?
SPEAKER_01You're just I'm in it because it's it's a uh one-woman show at the moment.
SPEAKER_00Oh my gosh. I don't know how you're doing it then. Um, because I have a business partner, I have uh my um little gang here that helps me out because um it it is a lot of work.
SPEAKER_01So if you're doing it, it is, it is, and I honestly I didn't need to add it to my schedule because my schedule is already very tight anyway. But you know, when you have like this idea, and I mean, we know conscious mind says knack, knack, knack, and you really shouldn't be doing that, and you don't have the time and the risk is too high, and whatever, whatever. But if it feels right in the gut, I'm I'm that kind of person. If something feels right, I don't need to know the answers. I know that I can trust that this will work out. And this is one of those examples, you know. Like I had the idea, my conscious mind went like, no, absolutely not, Ronnie. Um, I actually uh tried to get someone else on board and they loved the idea but didn't want to get involved. So I was like, Well, I'm not doing this on my own, obviously. And I left the cafe, I came back home and I bought the domain for the website. So then I was sitting at my desk and I'm like, so Ronnie, you're doing this on your own, are you? And well, Ronnie said, yes, let's do it and see what happens. And um, yeah, to me, it's always if something feels right, I I just go with it. And so far, I, you know, it's always uh taking me to the right places. But yes, it's absolutely a lot of work. Uh, it's also very distracting because I'm so excited about it and you know, like scouting the venue for the dinner and uh the evening entertainment, and it's so much fun, and it has nothing to do with my normal work, which is trauma work, right? So it gets me really excited, and then I'm like, oh, I should have been doing this actually, because I have stuff to do, other stuff to do, but I get a little bit carried away with organizing and planning the conference just because it's exciting, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and it will, I will say this as an event. This is uh fifth year for us. It will begin to take up more and more of your time, but not in a bad way. I will just say that as it begins, uh it will take up more and more of your time. But I want to just say that I want to ask you this question. Uh, we were talking about just doing it. Um, don't wait. I never wait. Um, you know, if I have that idea and it comes to, you know, like you, it was right there and you were trying to push it away, but it kept bouncing back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, no, I I I couldn't. It just it was so distracting, even when I was trying to distract myself from it with other things, you know, like my mind would constantly go there, and I'm like, well, it's not going anywhere, so I might as well do something with it. And then of course, and that applies to anything, right? Because when we feel that way about something, it also, of course, gives us that excitement and that motivation to actually do it, as opposed to having to do something, right? It's a very different, very different energy.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. So, where and they can get the tick. How much are the tickets right now? Let's ask that.
SPEAKER_01So uh right now it's the early bird price, they're 444 euros. That's including tax. And uh actually, uh, wait, there is a uh discount code for your listeners and your readers, which is need to find it. So it's 10% off. Where did I put it? Of course it disappeared. Uh Hypno World, all capitals, Hypno World 10. So with Hypno World 10, you get 10% off the the price, the ticket price. And as I said, the hotel also uh offers 10% on the rooms. Uh, also, a little side note the hotel actually isn't that strict. Uh, they don't require us all to stay there. So if you want to have a cheaper alternative or you want to have a more fancy alternative, you know, like Lisbon is your oyster. Please just, you know, you you have that freedom, which uh I personally quite quite like when I go to places as well. But then of course, you know, being contained within the hotel also has its benefit because that's where everything uh is going to happen, where all the networking will happen. Uh so uh, but you know, you are free to decide whatever works for you. And uh I think because it's not just a conference but a an experience, and a lot of people combine it with a vacation and things like that, you know, whatever works for you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I always tend to stay at the hotel if I can. I tend to stay at the hotel that the conference is happening at.
SPEAKER_01Um, it's just convenient as well, you know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and you also do save money. I know maybe you want to fancier, but by the time you've spent uh money on uh Ubers or Lyfts back and forth from the hotel you're staying at to go to the country, you've you've spent more money than you possibly needed to. Um, and you could use that money to explore Lisbon as to rather than just going back and forth to hotels.
SPEAKER_01And then just on the side note, I mean I already mentioned it briefly, but um, because obviously most people that will attend the conference will be traveling in from abroad. So, of course, you know, you have the conference, there's the flight, there's your accommodation. So Lisbon in itself is actually unless you go to all the hipster places, uh, which are the same price as any other capital city, but if you really embrace the Portuguese way of things, you know, it's so cheap. And uh especially when you come from the US, because in the US everything is so inflated, right? So instead of paying like six to eight dollars for your coffee, here it's like 1 euro 30, you know, or you can get like a three-course meal in a Portuguese restaurant for$15. So, you know, it's just to put it a bit in context, because obviously, you know, everybody is mindful of uh the money and spending money, but the um Portugal and when you go outside of Lisbon, it's even cheaper, you know. So as you're planning your trip, just keep that in mind because that gives you a bit more leverage because you just simply don't spend as much money while you're here as you would uh somewhere else.
SPEAKER_00Well, excellent. So I want to thank you for being with us today.
SPEAKER_01And thank you so much for having me. I really appreciate it.
SPEAKER_00Anytime, um, not a problem. And I hope that you guys are paying attention to this opportunity to go to Portugal and take it off your taxes. This is what we're talking about, right?
SPEAKER_01That's true, actually.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I know I'm I'm sad, right? Um, I I always do that with a conference, like, where's it at? Well, can I take that off my taxes? I'm going.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I do, I do, I do the same thing, you know. And uh, I mean, we are very fortunate that we can do that as well. And I mean, right now, Portugal is the place to be. So I think it's a really good opportunity. It's gonna be off season already, so it's gonna be in October, which means you know, it's less crowded, it's less expensive. The weather is still gonna be really nice. So usually in October, it's probably gonna be around, I don't know, maybe 70, 75, something like that, you know. So uh yeah.
SPEAKER_00Well, it's it's like 40 in October when you get to Michigan. Um, and it's like a it's like a bad joke, right? It's like it's 40 degrees. Where are you at? It's 70 degrees. Um so, but anyways, guys, uh, I hope that you are all, as always, happy, healthy, and safe. And as always, I'll see you out there.
